After a little snow on Monday, days of rainfall will soak areas from Missouri to Ohio.
Transcript
00:00Let's take a look at what's going on in the north central through mid-morning.
00:02You can see a little bit of snow from last night.
00:04We've continued to paint this stripe a little farther east in parts of Missouri and into Illinois.
00:10And again, we've had a little bit of light snow in a relatively narrow corridor farther east.
00:14And this is wrapping up here.
00:16For a lot of us, this system is exiting.
00:19And we've seen a transition over to a little bit of light rain in some spots as well.
00:24But tonight, again, lingering showers occur from Chicago to Peoria, Des Moines, Iowa.
00:28Iowa, Indianapolis, Columbus.
00:30There's really not much snow in the picture at this point as the front has been draped across the region.
00:35It's beginning to buckle north as a warm front.
00:37So you're low tonight in Kansas City, 42.
00:41That'll be accompanied by rain.
00:43That begins to slide farther northeast.
00:45Off to the north of that front, we have some temperatures.
00:48The cold spots in the upper teens, Bismarck and Sault Ste. Marie.
00:51A lot of 20s on the map here in Duluth and Fargo.
00:53So we're beginning to see spring kind of show its early hand here.
00:55And we'll begin to see some other impacts of spring nature later this week with strong thunderstorms and potential for
01:04some flooding in some of these areas as well.
01:07Let's take a look forward.
01:08We're going to put a pause point in around 11 p.m. here at 10 Central or 11 Central with
01:13some lingering showers.
01:14Cincinnati to southern Ohio into West Virginia.
01:16And that moves farther east.
01:18We get a little break, but then this more aggressive surge of warmth comes in.
01:22It's a warm front on Tuesday, and this is going to bring some heavier showers and even a period of
01:28steady rain for several hours for Des Moines and Peoria down into Indianapolis along I-70, down into Dayton and
01:36Cincinnati.
01:37It'll be a wet time here.
01:38And look at how this kind of sets up, and it's going to bring multiple hours of rain to some
01:43of these areas.
01:44Here we get into Wednesday.
01:45There won't be many dry hours there between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday in central Indiana.
01:50You're going to have a lot of rain out there, and that sets the table for more disturbances to basically
01:56pivot through the same region into Thursday.
01:58It won't rain the whole time, but it's going to be raining pretty frequently here.
02:02Tuesday, lots of green on the map.
02:04Kansas City to St. Louis, warmer farther north.
02:06A little bit of a zone here with a rain-snow-ice mix, but that won't impact too many folks.
02:11Even though it's big cities, Chicago and Detroit, you're going to probably spend a lot more time near or above
02:15freezing in Chicago.
02:16Wednesday, we've got more rain on the map here, and it's breezy, turning warmer.
02:20So the repetitive nature of this, Tuesday plus Wednesday plus Thursday's rainfall, we have the potential for some flooding.
02:28Urban street flooding, flash flooding, rounds of rain, even some thunderstorms.
02:32And this will be disruptive to travel from I-44 all the way up to I-70 and I-75
02:37and I-64 as well in some spots near St. Louis.
02:40So, again, a lot of rain, and then we'll get into a stronger thunderstorm pattern in the central U.S.
02:46We'll talk more about that here in a little bit for Friday as well.
