Storms are rumbling across the central U.S. day after day this week.
Transcript
00:00We do have some severe thunderstorms mainly to the south. Now one thing to note yesterday we had
00:05some flash flooding issues these storms are moving better quicker than the storms yesterday so that's
00:10good news but we do have severe thunderstorms into parts of Missouri but the area we're really
00:16watching is this area Colorado, New Mexico, the panhandles of Texas, Oklahoma, even into Kansas
00:21where we've had several severe thunderstorms throughout the evening and that's also
00:24where we have a severe thunderstorm watch that's out until 10 p.m central time here 11 p.m mountain time
00:32we're kind of at either side of the time zone here we were in that yesterday in Nebraska as well
00:39now quick jump back to yesterday I mentioned how the storms were just so slow moving yesterday
00:44especially into where we have our top rainfall total from last 24 hours McCook, Nebraska
00:49an area of red on the radar so heavy downpours was just parked there really for hours so certainly
00:55that six inches is not surprising for the rainfall total there that's really the center where we saw
01:00the worst of the rainfall it's a little bit further to the east today east and north the center of our
01:05low pressure system a little farther to the north but still kind of centered over Nebraska which
01:09continues into tomorrow because what's happened is we have our uh front that has kind of stalled
01:16out over uh the central U.S. right and it's going to start to move again tomorrow take a look at future
01:24radar and kind of how this plays out still some heavy downpours here so especially some of these
01:29areas that have had several inches of rain over the last couple of days you could see some more
01:34ponding could see some more flash flooding very scattered in nature though to the north of course areas
01:40from Kansas City down south of Wichita north of Oklahoma City at 3 p.m tomorrow things are looking a
01:45little bit more widespread we continue to move through time here on future radar and things
01:49slowly but surely move their way further to the east into more the Great Lakes region Fargo Minneapolis
01:54your season downpours Friday afternoon we're at 2 p.m on future radar now as we continue to play this out
02:01we get more into the Ohio Valley somewhere like Chicago you start to see some rain and thunderstorms
02:05by the time we get into the early morning hours of Saturday now let's talk temperatures because we have
02:11really a stark divide from Detroit you're trending well above your historical average in the mid 70s
02:16you're in the upper 80s tomorrow whereas Rapid City well you're actually seeing temperatures lower
02:21than your historical average by about six degrees with that high of 70 for Thursday that cold front
02:26certainly uh going to be doing its job as it moves its way to the east here's our footprint for Friday
02:32still some of us seeing the rain and the thunderstorm as this slowly but surely moves its way to the east
02:38somewhere like Minneapolis well we stay in the 70s the next several days but by contrast somewhere
02:43like Indianapolis well the peak of the heat doesn't come till Friday
02:46you
