00:00Hey Greg, good morning. I'm kind of hung up on this Drake May thing, so my lead's going to be
00:05about my guy Drake May.
00:06He looks great. He clearly is ready for OTAs. He's ready for football season.
00:11I think we're going to have a consecutive great seasons from Drake May.
00:15Coming off of an MVP runner-up season, a lot of us believe he should have been the MVP over
00:20Matthew Stafford.
00:21I think Drake May can replicate it.
00:24I'm not even going to talk about the first-round pick at offensive line. Don't care.
00:27I'm just going to talk about Drake May. I think everything's going to be great, especially once they trade for
00:32A.J. Brown.
00:33Drake May might have an even better year than last year, which I think would be hard to do.
00:39I'm thrilled and excited for everything he can do this year. I'm thrilled to see some football.
00:45I'm still just kind of on a high from last night, so there you go.
00:47What if they don't get A.J. Brown?
00:49Oof. I still think he will have success.
00:53I think the offense will have to manufacture ways to be good, but I also think that the running game
01:00could be a little bit better this year,
01:02which may in turn just kind of help Drake May be better.
01:05So that's kind of where I'm at.
01:08I would be disappointed if A.J. Brown or George Pickens is not on this team at the start of
01:13the season.
01:13Yeah, it's a great question, Greg, when you ask and you go, well, what if they don't get A.J.
01:20Brown?
01:20So you replace Steph Diggs, and I get it.
01:24You don't want to pay him the $21 million.
01:25Maybe you feel like he's getting a little bit older, but you're a 1,000-yard receiver.
01:29You've replaced him, and now you're rolling the dice on Romeo Dobbs,
01:34which, you know, I believe he's probably more of a, you know...
01:40800.
01:41Yeah.
01:41I was going to say, what did he have last season?
01:44700.
01:44Yeah, like seven and some change.
01:46That was his best season.
01:47But he's probably, legitimately, he's probably a true number two on your team,
01:51opposite your elite number one.
01:55But if you're asking him to be the number one, who the hell knows?
01:58Now you've got to see, is that something that he can do?
02:02He wasn't able to do it in Green Bay.
02:04I think they, you know, wanted him, obviously, to be that guy.
02:07He wasn't able to do it.
02:08Then they went out and they drafted Christian Watson, I think, somewhere in the first round.
02:13So it's going to be interesting to see if they don't get A.J. Brown.
02:17I'm still holding out hope.
02:18I mean, it sounds like it's kind of a done deal,
02:21but then again, when something sounds like it's a done deal, I get nervous.
02:26I mean, other than Schefter, who are, you know, like, everybody's saying,
02:31oh, we expect him to go there because everybody knows he's not going to be in Philadelphia.
02:36Yeah.
02:36And it's just a connection with Mike Vrabel.
02:38Well, I know some people who ran into Robert Kraft.
02:43Is this the scoops?
02:45Well, after what happened to Jones.
02:50Yeah.
02:51When he tried to step into the scoop lane the other night.
02:54You can't get too close to a scoop or you could get burned.
02:58Tell me about it.
03:01He got completely burned on that Alex Cora scoop.
03:04I mean, so it's not a scoop.
03:06It's just a whisper.
03:08Was it the king and queen?
03:09Because they were with Robert yesterday.
03:10No, no.
03:11There's some fans who ran into him in the seaport.
03:15Oh.
03:16And asked him what was going on.
03:18And he said, and I quote, you will be very, very happy very soon with what is going on with
03:26this football team.
03:27Okay.
03:28Yes.
03:28All right.
03:29That's a cool little whisper.
03:30I can hang my hat on that.
03:32I mean, does that sound like somebody that sounds like something who thinks they're getting A.J. Brown or they
03:38could be getting my guy, George Pickens.
03:41They're doing something that sounds like very, very soon.
03:44Between that and the fact that they didn't select a receiver in a draft where a record number of receivers
03:50were taken in the first few rounds and the Eagles selected Makai Lemon.
03:54Like, it just, I don't know, every sign in the world indicates the New England Patriots will have A.J.
03:59Brown to start the season.
04:01Now, listen, somebody in the Twitch chat says he says that very frequently and he very well may.
04:05Oh, okay.
04:07I take it with a grain of salt.
04:09But, Shime, thank you.
04:11Let's begin with Drake May.
04:12He spoke about Mike Vrabel and talked about, this was post, or actually pre-tossing me a couple balls.
04:19Oh, I was going to ask, what else did Drake May do last night?
04:22Threw a couple passes to me, which I caught both of.
04:26And it was successful.
04:28Yes, I did.
04:28Yes, you did.
04:29Damn right, baby.
04:30But prior to that, Drake May talked about Mike Vrabel.
04:33Here was Drake May.
04:35Yeah, we're here for Coach.
04:36We love Coach.
04:36You know, what he does for us, what he's done for us this past year.
04:39Here, you can't speak into words and just, you know, thankful he's our head coach.
04:42And I know he's doing some stuff off the field and out of the coaching world.
04:46But, you know, we're here for him and I know he's going to come back.
04:49All right.
04:50Okay.
04:50I thought, I was told yesterday by some that he had completely lost the locker room.
04:56Especially some of the more religious guys were going to be unable to be coached by Mike Vrabel.
05:02Sounds like they will be.
05:03And you know what the naysayers will say, oh, what are you wanting to say?
05:08And this is why I always go back from being in that locker room.
05:12This is why I always look at it.
05:13The most important thing is how do you treat me?
05:15And that's the way it is in life.
05:17Like, if you treat me a certain way and I know you got my back, then I'm going to reciprocate
05:22that.
05:22Even if I don't agree with something you did.
05:25And I think that's the thing that players realize more than anything is how does he treat the other, got
05:31themselves included, but guys in that locker room.
05:34And if he's.
05:36That's such a straw man, though, Greg.
05:37Nobody said he lost the entire locker room.
05:41Was that not what people were texting in yesterday?
05:45I don't get the text.
05:46That's what Mike Giotti said.
05:47No, no, no.
05:48That's not what Mike Giotti said.
05:49He didn't say the entire locker room.
05:50No, he didn't.
05:51I'm telling you what I said.
05:53He said some in the building were less receptive, were less forgiving.
05:57Less forgiving.
05:58Right.
05:59That's not the entire locker room.
06:01I didn't say the entire locker room.
06:02That's what I just said.
06:02He didn't say the entire locker room.
06:04But I'm not saying, you're not listening to me, Meggo.
06:06I didn't say Mike Giotti said he lost the entire locker room.
06:09To Greg's point yesterday when he brought that up, he is saying that some players in there, and I'm paraphrasing,
06:17looked at him differently and lost respect for him.
06:21Right.
06:21So that's losing some players in the locker room.
06:24Right.
06:24Greg said, in framing the quote from Drake May, that I was told yesterday that Mike Vrabel lost the locker
06:31room.
06:32I was.
06:32I had texters who were saying, you can't be a leader of men if you're telling them one thing and
06:39doing other things.
06:40You can't be a leader of men if you're lying.
06:42But in no other way, it's equally as disingenuous as if I played that cut and I said, see, everybody
06:50is behind Vrabel.
06:52Do you understand?
06:53Yeah.
06:53Like, so neither of those are true.
06:56Everybody isn't against him and everybody isn't steadfastly where they were before this began.
07:01What's interesting to me about that Drake May clip is at the very end when he says he'll be back.
07:07That to me goes, oh, did you read that Daily Mail article about Mike Tomlin being the contingency plan?
07:16That was the interesting bit to me.
07:18There's a question he won't be back.
07:20He'll be over here for him and I know he's going to come back.
07:22He's going to come back.
07:23Right.
07:24I mean, I never thought.
07:25Like he's going to, is he saying he's going to make a comeback publicly?
07:28Like he's going to totally redeem himself?
07:30Or is he saying he's going to come back?
07:32Like he'll be there all this summer.
07:34He'll be there all this season.
07:35He's going to coach.
07:36I mean, we were talking about it earlier today about the season ticket holders event.
07:43Like they brought him out.
07:45Like Vrabel is not going anywhere.
07:47If he goes somewhere, I will be shocked.
07:50But that it was even something that may sound like him.
07:53Will you eat your shoe?
07:54I will not eat my shoe.
07:56Okay.
07:56Okay.
07:56But I will be shocked.
07:57I'll do a shoe-y in the suite though if you want.
07:59Chug a beer out of my shoe.
08:01I'll do it.
08:01You sound like you want to do that.
08:02Yeah, that's.
08:03You do bring it up a lot.
08:03I mean, I might do it out of those UNC-11s.
08:05That's for sure.
08:06Ew.
08:06But one thing, just from what I have gathered, the Tomlin thing is total nonsense.
08:12Yeah.
08:12That the Daily Mail is thinner than Ben Volan in terms of its reporting on this story.
08:18Who knows?
08:19Obviously, I don't know.
08:20But Mike Tomlin is in the news.
08:25He was just given the NBC gig.
08:27And he's someone that people would obviously have an opinion on.
08:29So somebody throws it into a story to make it juicy.
08:31I just think it's interesting that Drake felt the need to toss that in at the end.
08:34Right.
08:35Because Vrabel's already been back.
08:36Right.
08:36He was back in the building on Monday.
08:37And I agree with you.
08:38I think that what you said has nothing to do with the veracity of the story.
08:41It's that pointing out that the quarterback is publicly acknowledging in that way that
08:45he wants him back.
08:46And I do agree that probably some guys in that locker room have lost respect for him as far
08:52as when it comes to his beliefs.
08:55I believe that.
08:56I've been in locker rooms before.
08:58So that I believe.
08:59But you don't have to respect somebody to play hard for them and understand what your
09:05job is.
09:06We had that here, Wiggs, where the quarterback and the coach didn't get along and they were
09:11both great at their respective jobs when they won Super Bowls.
09:14I always tell this story.
09:15I remember I played with the great tight end, Wesley Walls, down in Carolina.
09:19And, you know, at the end of practice, everybody brings it up and, you know, gets to talking.
09:24And Wesley Walls had been in the NFL for a bunch of years, double-digit years.
09:28He stands up and he goes, listen, I don't like half of you MFs on here, on this team.
09:34I just want to know that I can depend on you.
09:36And that's what, and it's about, you might not like him, you might not respect him, but
09:42you know that you're going to do your job.
09:44And I think that that's where there might be some players in that locker room that look
09:48at Mike Vrabel like that.
09:51After, after Scheim had a, had a catch or two with Drake, we had dinner with a former New
09:59England Patriots quarterback.
10:01Sure did.
10:02Um, and that quarterback said that very thing that he said that in the locker room, the
10:09only thing that matters is what you can do on the field, how you can help us win football
10:14games.
10:14We could, uh, could not care less.
10:18I believe he said about what goes on outside, uh, of the, and that's why I was, and that's
10:23why I was telling you, there probably are a number of guys in that locker room, especially
10:27even younger guys who probably don't even care about this story.
10:31They're like, all right, whatever I'm doing me.
10:35Like, do I still got a job coach Vrabel?
10:37That's all they care about.
10:38They can care.
10:39They can care less.
10:40Like, so the whole, like, oh, people who go, what a player is going to think what there's
10:44a, there's a large portion of those guys in the locker room.
10:47Just like, whatever.
10:48Yeah.
10:49It's not like somebody is going to be like, oh, I'm not going to run that route.
10:51Cause Vrabel.
10:52Or they're going to be in the meeting room and be like, Hey coach, um, why did you do
10:56that?
10:57What did you really do?
10:58Why didn't you tell us this?
11:00Like guys are not doing that.
11:02Uh, Twitch chat wants to know if it was Mac Jones at dinner last night.
11:05Uh, Greg, no, it was not Mac Jones.
