00:09The sentence was imposed on Monday by Justice Nalini Singh, who found 31-year-old Rishi Motilal guilty on two
00:16counts of murder.
00:17Motilal, also known as Cookmeat, was convicted for the deaths of 31-year-old Tara Gita Ramsarup and their 14
00:27-month-old daughter, Shamaya Motilal.
00:30The court heard that on October 8, 2024, the incident unfolded at Motilal's home along Rigg Road in Bharakpur after
00:38a dispute between the couple escalated violently.
00:40According to the state's case, Motilal struck Ramsarup with an iron pipe before arming himself with a cutlass, which he
00:49used to chop her a number of times before slitting her throat.
00:52He then used the same weapon to kill the child.
00:56After the attack, Motilal left the location in a station wagon belonging to a relative of Ramsarup's new partner.
01:03The vehicle was later discovered burnt in a bushy area off Roshad Road in Pinau.
