00:13disturbing protest against the bank's apathy where the bank allegedly asked him to bring the proof
00:19of death and the man who actually landed up carrying his sister's dead body to the bank to
00:26provide that proof. A shocking incident that has been reported from Kionjha district where a man
00:30allegedly exhumed his deceased sister's skeletal remains and carried them to a bank in an attempt
00:37to withdraw the money from her account. The incident occurred in the Patna area of the district on
00:42Monday according to information Jitu Munda, a resident of Dianali village who took this extreme
00:49step after failing to access funds that were deposited by his late sister. Munda's elder sister
00:55had passed away around two months ago following an illness. Prior to her death, she had deposited
01:00approximately 19,000 rupees in her account at a local branch of Orisha, Gramya Bank. The amount
01:07was reportedly earned through the sale of her cattle. With no other legal heir, Munda had approached the
01:13bank a few days ago to withdraw the money. However, bank officials who asked him to produce a death
01:19certificate and other necessary documents to process the withdrawal are able to furnish the required
01:25paperwork. Munda allegedly exhumed his sister's skeletal remains from her burial site. He then
01:31carried them on his shoulder for nearly three kilometers to the bank as proof of her death.
01:37Reports said he staged a sit-in outside the bank, placing the remains in front of the premises for
01:43several hours while demanding immediate release of the funds. Upon being confirmed, local police reached
01:50the spot and persuaded Munda to vacate the premises. Authorities also arranged for the reburial of the
01:56skeletal remains. Unfortunate to how the system worked for this man. However, the bank that was
02:06following its due procedure asked him to provide the death certificate. But the man in his extreme
02:12frustration as he asked the bank to give him the deposit of what her sister had put in the account
02:21about 19,000 rupees in the bank account. Whereas the bank asking him to complete the paperwork.
02:28In a disturbing protest against the bank's apathy, this man who went on to remove the skeletal remains
02:34of his sister who had passed away two months ago due to an illness and brought her skeletal remains to
02:43the bank to prove that she was no more, to prove to the bank that they must give him the
02:49remaining money
02:50that was in her account since he was the legal heir. Shocking incident that has been reported from Kionjhar
02:56district. This man allegedly exhumed his deceased sister's skeletal remains. He carried them to the bank in an
03:03attempt to withdraw the money from her account and that was 19,000 rupees. The incident that occurred
03:08in Patna area of the district and according to information, Jitu Munda who is a resident of the
03:14Diyanali village took this extreme step after he failed to access funds that were deposited by his late
03:20sister. Tapas Sengupta joining us on the phone line. Tapas this is extremely disturbing. The frustration of
03:29this man and the extreme step that he took because he was unable to provide the paperwork.
03:35How far is it correct to raise fingers against the bank because they asked for the paperwork to be
03:40completed and due procedures to be done? But in such cases, how can it be made easier for the extended
03:48family of the deceased?
03:50Yes, this is a very unfortunate incident that happened in Odisha's Kionja district where a man named
03:57Jitu Munda carried his sister's skeleton, exhumed the body and carried three kilometers and brought
04:05it to the bank. He was facing problem in withdrawing money from the account of his sister. But since there
04:13was no death certificate available as a legal hire, the bank got the death certificate. Otherwise,
04:20they were not able to remit the money to him. In that case, what he did, it went on to
04:26exhumed the
04:27body. However, the local authorities were not intimated regarding this issue. When he suddenly
04:32brought the skeleton in front of the bank, it was then the bank officials took cognizance and intimated
04:39police. And when police asked him, then he replied his apathy and stating that the video was also
04:46involved. Now, as the latest goes, he is yet to receive any money. But an investigation has been
04:53ordered and such are being made by the authorities to facilitate the process with the bank if that
04:59amount can be given to him. But it's a legal procedure. It is going to take time. But formal
05:04documentation was not there. It's an unfortunate incident because he did not have the death
05:10certificate in the first place and neither have any other document that could establish
05:14Jitu Munda with his sister who had already passed away. So, keeping that in mind, the authorities are
05:21proving into the matter and trying to help Jitu Munda. At the same time, they have also lost an investigation
05:27into the matter. Thank you. Oh, yes, absolutely. Tapas, like you said, extremely unfortunate and
05:33once again raises questions, forces us to think to how such procedures can be made simpler, especially
05:39for the kin of the deceased when such procedures become so difficult. I want to thank you for
05:45getting us the latest. We'll keep a close eye on all the developments.
