00:00The impending investigation into the police commissioner with regards to the
00:03importation of two sniper rifles for the SSC continues to intrigue the country.
00:09As the Police Service Commission today acknowledged receipt of the pre-action
00:13protocol letter sent by Commissioner Police earlier here with Christopher's
00:17attorney, Senior Counsel Pamela Elder. Senior Counsel Elder confirmed that to
00:22TV6 News when asked earlier this afternoon. However, the PSC did not accede
00:27to the request of the Commissioner's attorney to rescind their decision not
00:31to let her report to work nor to withdraw their letter to the President
00:34to appoint DCP Junior Benjamin as acting Commissioner of Police. The PSC had
00:39written to the Commissioner last Friday telling her to cease from reporting to
00:43work until further notice. In essence, she was suspended. The PSC had also written
00:49to President Christine Kangaloo nominating DCP Junior Benjamin to act as
00:54Police Commissioner and ACP Kurt Simon to be appointed acting DCP. The PSC have
01:00been given until 2 p.m. today to rescind their decision. However, TV6 News has
01:05confirmed that investigators in the matter revisited the DPP this afternoon
01:09but up to news time no decision had been made on whether charges were to be
01:13preferred against Earla Harewood Christopher.
