It was always a good time when Big Martha joined Martha in the kitchen. In this video, watch as the mother-daughter duo makes sauerbraten, a German pot roast cooked in a red wine mixture with onions and garlic. Slice, dice, and arrange the tender meat slices on a warm plate for a stunning dinner.

00:00That looks like a wonderful piece of meat. Well, my mom's here today and she's cooking
00:04sourbraten, which is really a German pot roast. We're going to brown this beautiful bottom round
00:10meat. Just to save time, we've already started doing the onions and the garlic. So two bay
00:15leaves, four tablespoons of tomato paste, and then you're going to need a cup of red wine vinegar
00:22and two cups of red wine. So this is how brown. Do you want it browner than that? That's enough.
00:27Really? So here we go. And you're going to add two cups of water to the beef. So now this
00:35gets covered and cooked for an hour. Then turn the beef. Don't forget to turn it because it's
00:41going to get beautifully tender. And now we have another gorgeous, gorgeous sourbraten all
00:47ready to slice. I'm adding one quarter cup of sour cream. So I could lay that meat back
00:55into the sauce. Yes, just lay it in gently. Make sure that your platter is hot and you
01:00can just arrange the meat nicely.
