00:00Shador Sanders, your starting quarterback for Sunday against the Saints.
00:05Deshaun Watson questionable with a concussion.
00:08No idea if he will be the backup or not, but Shador will be the starter against the Saints.
00:14You're going to get to see him, everybody.
00:16We've been waiting for this moment for a period of time since the quarterback competition took place all throughout training
00:21camp.
00:21We saw the reps get split up.
00:23We saw the good.
00:24We saw the bad.
00:25We saw the ugly from both of those quarterbacks.
00:27And now you're going to see what Shador Sanders gets with a full week of reps and a game plan
00:32that is tailored to him.
00:34Andy, it's going to be really exciting to see what he is going to be able to do and how
00:38he might be able to succeed in this offense with the whole game plan tailored to him.
00:43I just wonder if I'm assuming that Deshaun would be.
00:50No one asked the question unless I missed it there towards the end.
00:53But did anyone ask who the number two is going to be?
00:56No idea quite yet.
00:58It's going to depend on the concussion protocol.
01:00And if he said Watson questionable right now, they never answered that question.
01:04I mean, he could clear protocol and still end up being the inactive quarterback on...
01:09Right.
01:10And that's probably where I would lean.
01:12I mean, if he can't play, I'd make him the inactive quarterback on Sunday.
01:17Yeah, absolutely.
01:18Yeah.
01:18That's your easiest solution.
01:21And then he also said that, you know, he...
01:26The biggest reason that you're going with Shador this week is because he was here for the install.
01:30I've been saying that for two days now.
01:31You have.
01:32You've been saying it well.
01:32So, I mean, he was the guy that was here for the install for the last two days.
01:35So that's why...
01:35So that's fine.
01:36And he knows the game plan for this week.
01:37The game plan is made for him.
01:39So let's go see what Shador Sanders can do.
01:41This is why he drafted the guy in the first place.
01:43What's he going to do?
01:44Here you go.
01:45Go do it.
01:46Look at it in the press conference.
01:47Let's go.
01:47Let's see it.
01:48Let's go out there and rip it.
01:49I mean, that's what he told Shador Sanders in the press here.
01:52That's where we all are.
01:53Go out there.
01:54Rip it.
01:54Let's see it.
01:55I am excited to see where this is.
01:57I think more than anything, I want to see what this offense looks like with Shador Sanders at the helm.
02:06Because I want to see how far along it is and how much of it is just, frankly, Deshaun Watson
02:12holding elements of this offense back by, you know,
02:15inability to get the ball out, taking sacks, all that kind of stuff.
02:18I want to see where the baseline is on this thing.
02:21I kind of want to see how much of what we've seen to this point is Deshaun Watson and how
02:25much of this is the Cleveland Browns and how much of this maybe Shador Sanders can improve upon.
02:29Because it's not like Watson leaves the highest bar.
02:32I know everybody wants to sit there and point to the win-loss record and whatever.
02:35The defense has been outstanding and you're pulling off these fourth quarter comebacks.
02:39And every game you get up on the knife's edge and balance, you know, and hope that it falls in
02:43the right direction.
02:44I want to see if maybe the knife is a little bit wider with Shador Sanders.
02:50Again, I'll just go back to where we are in this whole thing, right?
02:53You drafted him.
02:54You drafted him for a reason.
02:55Here's the situation you're in.
02:58He surpassed the guy that was drafted ahead of him.
03:01He did that last year.
03:03And Dylan Gabriel has just been waiting in the wings in the shadows since he came back.
03:10This will be his second week back.
03:14So I want to see what Sanders does.
03:17I don't really have any major expectations, good or bad.
03:20I just want to see what he does.
03:21I want to see what this looks like.
03:22I am a little leery of what we saw last week when he came in on the initial hit, right?
03:29Yeah.
03:30I mean, there were penalties on every play coming in because the timing was so off, whether that's him or
03:35the offensive line or the play calling itself.
03:38Absolutely.
03:39I mean, they may have ran plays that just did not make any sense at that point for a guy
03:44that was cold coming off the bench.
03:45That's a great point by you.
03:46I'll buy into all of that.
03:48But what I do know is he's had a week now to get ready for this game, this game in
03:54particular.
03:54The offensive lines had a couple days to get used to his cadence and the way he's going to call
03:59a game and the way he's going to control the huddle.
04:02And those are all circumstances that can make him or break him as a quarterback.
04:06And it's true of every quarterback, not just him.
04:09So here we go.
04:11Sanders on Sunday.
04:12And we'll see what they're made of.
04:14Let's let it rip.
04:14I mean, it's the same exact thing.
04:16Very, very cool to hear.
04:18All right.
04:19So good for Shador Sanders.
04:20He's going to be able to get the start on this whole thing.
04:22Deshaun Watson, we will see questionable with a concussion, not able to do team drills at this time, as Todd
04:29Monk had said.
04:29But he is able to get back out there.
04:31So that puts him like around stage four of the concussion protocol to get him back out.
04:35Still would have to clear tomorrow and would have to be cleared by Brown's doctors and then be cleared by,
04:44you know, impartial non-team personnel, you know, to go see if he'd be able to play after that.
04:50So he still has a couple hurdles before he can get back on the field.
04:53Absolutely.
04:53That's why I think he'll be inactive on Sunday.
04:55Quick, quick 30-second point off the tail end of this that I just want to say real quick when
04:59it comes to Todd Monk.
05:01Brought up Martin Emerson on the tail end of it.
05:03Yeah.
05:03Martin Emerson now with the Saints.
05:04He's worked his way back.
05:05He's had a decent season, all that kind of stuff.
05:07Said that he went up against them in college.
05:10That is one of those guys I will always root for because of our old friend Mike Leach.
05:15I will never forget when they drafted Martin Emerson.
05:19I called coach and I said to him, do you want to hop on with us and talk about Martin?
05:23And coach paused for a minute and he goes, the draft was tonight?
05:28And I said, yeah, the draft was tonight, coach.
05:30He goes, I'll be damned.
05:32Oh, yeah, sure.
05:33I'll hop on.
05:33Great kid.
05:34All that just went on and on.
05:35But it made me laugh.
05:36Oh, then he forgot the draft was going on.
05:37He completely forgot the draft was going on that day.
05:39That's funny.
05:40All right.
05:40So every time I hear that name, that's all that goes through my head is talking to Mike
05:43Leach and telling him the draft was going on.
05:44Let's come back.
