01:23are getting started not far from here at a bright and colorful full-floor penthouse, also on the Upper East
01:29Side.

01:39of terrace, this sun-drenched retreat is perfect for art collectors, entertainers, or just design lovers. See for yourself.
01:51Hi, I'm Ian Slater, the founder of Trove Partners here in New York. And welcome to the happiest apartment on
01:58the Upper East Side.
02:01Now, what specifically makes this apartment one of the happiest I've ever stepped in?
02:05The current owner gut-renovated this penthouse with a keen eye towards light, color, and exceptional New York views.
02:13With two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a massive corner terrace, and separate living, dining, and kitchen, there's a
02:19lot to see. So follow me.
02:24You step off of your own private elevator and are immediately greeted by this sun-soaked dining room.
02:30And here, you start to see all of the things that this apartment has to offer.
02:34Generous proportions, exquisite finishes, and fun design.
02:38And you also have access to the private terrace.
02:40And here are some of those amazing views I told you about.
02:47Conveniently located off of the dining room is this exquisite jewel box of a kitchen.
02:52Not one detail has been overlooked in this kitchen, from the slab marble countertop, to the custom cabinetry, to the
02:58top-of-the-line chef's appliances.
03:00And you can wash your dishes in this sink with the best view on the Upper East Side.
03:04Now, after you've cooked your amazing meal and served it in your dining room, what better place to continue entertaining
03:09than your joyous penthouse living room?
03:15The corner living room further accentuates all of the best features of this home.
03:19Size, ceiling height, finishes, color, and light, light, light.
03:24These two-tone blue lacquer gallery walls are the perfect backdrop for any museum-quality art collection,
03:30which you can enjoy from two different seating areas.
03:34And with three points of access to your own private terrace, this apartment is truly the definition of indoor-outdoor
03:40living.
03:41Now, if you'll be my guest, follow me on to the chamber suite.
03:46Now, this Venetian plaster-clad gallery hallway leads us to the bedrooms and has an eastern-facing window,
03:52because who doesn't need more light?
03:56This impeccably designed guest bedroom is what I will deem the blue room of the penthouse.
04:02Pay close attention to the level of detail in the design of this room,
04:05from the wallpaper to the matching fabrics to the amazing rug,
04:09all the way up to the Moroccan-style light fixture.
04:12All right, now enough talk about this private terrace.
04:15Let's go see it in person.
04:19Now, the exclamation point of this penthouse apartment is the wraparound terrace that goes all the way around the apartment.
04:25On days in New York when there's not snow on the ground and you can't see my breath in the
04:30air,
04:30this is the perfect space for entertaining, living, gardening, or just taking in the views of the New York skyline.
04:40Thank you so much for taking this tour of this gleeful Upper East Side penthouse.
04:44See you on the next one.
04:50Thanks, Ian. That did put a smile on my face. You're right.
04:53Coming up, an architectural estate once owned by a music legend.
05:07Welcome back, everyone.
05:08Now we're at one of the most iconic homes in L.A.'s Bird Streets.
05:12Designed by sought-after architect Paul McClain for the late DJ and producer Avicii,
05:18this was, in fact, Paul's first L.A. project.
05:20Cinematic, unforgettable, and full of character. It is a true statement.
05:27Paul gives us a closer look.
05:32Hello, my name is Paul McClain, and I'm an architect based here in Southern California, and I'm very excited to
05:37show you this house in West Hollywood on this beautiful sunny day.
05:43Believe it or not, I've been working in Southern California for 30 years now, and this was my very first
05:49home in L.A.
05:49We've been lucky enough to continue to work with the different owners as it's evolved over the last 20 years,
05:55and one of my favorite moments right here is these stepping stones behind me.
05:59There's a famous picture on the internet of the DJ Avicii, who is one of the owners of the home,
06:04crossing these steps.
06:05Let's go see the house itself.
06:12If you're familiar with our work, you're going to see there often are a lot of bridges and water features.
06:17But one of the unique things about this particular house is that the pool runs down the middle, which basically
06:22breaks the house into two parts.
06:23So on this side, we have the living spaces, and on the other side, we have the sleeping spaces.
06:28This is a really unusual lot. It's on top of a mountain, and it curves in the back, and all
06:34of those challenges made for a unique design and really inspired our creativity.
06:38And on this clear day, you can spot things 50 miles away.
06:41So for me, designing this home, what was most important was to make as much use of that view from
06:47as many spaces as possible.
06:49And for Avicii, this was the perfect place to put his piano, where he would sit every day and compose
06:55those amazing tunes of his.
06:56And now, let's go check out the living area.
07:02This is probably one of my favorite spaces in the house, the living room.
07:06The concept for this part of the house was an open floor plan.
07:09And if you look here, you can see the kitchen and dining room area.
07:12And there's a little cozy room beyond that that the current owner uses as a media room.
07:17But the whole concept was that the spaces wouldn't be overwhelming, that they would float and be light, but also
07:24feel intimate at the same time.
07:25And of course, one of the biggest changes we made to the house was this deck out here.
07:29If you look over here, you can see downtown Los Angeles.
07:32And hard to imagine it's actually December when we're here right now.
07:35But hey, that's the whole thing about California.
07:42We're now in the primary suite, but before we go there, I want to talk about this view.
07:46I like it so much, in fact, that this view that you see here is what I have on my
07:50office wall behind my desk, so I can look at it every day.
07:53It's an endless source of inspiration.
07:59Working with Aviji on the redesign of the house, it was really important to him that we get some coziness
08:03in the bedroom and that we get some texture.
08:05Still working with those darker tones, we added this bed wall that you can see behind and also fabric so
08:12that we could close the room off at nighttime and make it feel much more comfortable.
08:16And we continued with that black and white theme into the bathroom and closet, keeping everything simple because the view
08:23is the main star of the show here.
08:32One of the best things about this pool is how it's captured between the two parts of the house.
08:37And it's really interesting how you start off deep within the middle of the home.
08:41And as you move through the pool, everything becomes more open and expansive.
08:47We have this great outdoor space here, which is where the people who live here tend to hang out during
08:52the day.
08:52And right behind here, what used to be a bedroom became Aviji's sound studio.
08:57At this level, we also have a game room and a media room.
09:00So parties can happen here, people can spend the weekend, they can just relax and enjoy each other's company.
09:09That wraps up the tour for today. Thank you so much for spending your time with me, I so appreciate
09:14it.
09:14Looking forward to seeing you at the next one.
09:21Well, that home is just waiting for its next great artist.
09:24Coming up in just a bit, we're at the serene oasis of this content creator.
09:37Welcome back, everyone.
09:38Now we're at the Los Angeles home of golfer and content creator Tisha Allen.
09:43From viral golf videos to the launch of her apparel brand, Allen Golf.
09:48Her style is as confident as her swing.
09:51See for yourself.
09:57What's going on, you guys? I'm Tisha Allen.
09:59You may know me from this or you may know me as the founder and CEO of Allen Golf.
10:04But today I'm going to show you how I'm living.
10:06That's right. Let's go.
10:11All right. So as you can see, I have an open floor plan.
10:15I'm really big about the open floor plan because I love natural light.
10:19And if you get the general address of the house, it's very desert themed.
10:22I kind of feel like that was the canvas we were given.
10:24So we really played into it.
10:26So you see a lot of neutral tones, desert tones and like the burnt orange sienna.
10:31You'll see a lot of that.
10:32For me, it's practical because you can be comfy.
10:35And because we have an open floor plan, everything is just right here.
10:38We have the kitchen right behind us.
10:40We got another sitting area, which is a lot more like intimate, I'd say.
10:44But everything blends really well.
10:46The desert theme is pretty consistent through and through.
10:52So when it comes to this magical moment right here, I like to call it desert chic.
10:56So you'll see the art quite literally desert themed, but also the tones and the chairs.
11:01I actually love the two different chairs because one is very much my personality.
11:05And then we got the comfy chair over here, which is very much more my fiancee.
11:10We have the lime wash chimney and we have the beautiful mirror right behind me,
11:15which I think is like the perfect send off.
11:17Because like right when you're going to walk out the door, you do a quick fit check.
11:20We also have the clothing brand.
11:21So we always have our fittings right in front of this mirror too.
11:27Now we're in the kitchen.
11:29For me, it's really important to be minimal and clean.
11:33I think I just got lucky with a kitchen that actually had a color foundation that wasn't bare.
11:38I'm all about the greens, which really set the tone for the design of all the furniture that you see.
11:43And then we have the dining room over here.
11:46It's giving like boho energy.
11:48But we have the cement table, which blends with the fireplace area.
11:53So it all just kind of ties in together.
11:56All right, I showed you how we live.
11:57I showed you how we eat.
11:58Now I'm going to show you where we sleep.
12:00Here we go.
12:04I think I have actually found a cat.
12:07Just, there's a lump moving right here.
12:14Oh, I got him.
12:16I caught him.
12:17Oh my gosh.
12:19Meet Lucky everybody.
12:21He is the one thing that does not match the home.
12:23But we allow him here.
12:25It just makes sense.
12:29Welcome to the primary bedroom.
12:30So whether you know me or not, my life is actually pretty stressful.
12:34So I want to make sure that all my rooms feel very tranquil.
12:37I have four guest rooms, some of which are just as big as this room.
12:41And when it comes to my bedroom, I really wanted to make sure that I had a low bed to
12:46expand the space.
12:47You'll still see the squared off edges in the bed frame and our side tables match that.
12:53And then you turn here and I was like, all mirrors.
12:56So the mirror closet, we learned to love it.
12:58But you know who really loves it?
12:59Lucky.
13:00He'll hide in there, dismantle it and have a time.
13:07And now we're back to where we started.
13:10This is where all the fun work happens.
13:12And I have to show off my pride and joy.
13:13We have the short game facility here.
13:15We have four holes and we have the different levels of turf.
13:19Of course, the putting grass, the chipping grass and the rough.
13:21And even when it's raining, we still have a practice facility.
13:24We actually have an indoor simulator where I actually get to practice my real shots.
13:27But when I'm not working, I'm chilling in my wellness area.
13:31It's actually my favorite part of the home.
13:33We have the cold plunge, the heatable chair and, of course, the sauna.
13:41All right, y'all.
13:42I hope you enjoyed my cute little home.
13:46And I'll see you next time.
13:50Oh, Tish, I bet Lucky loves when you get a birdie.
13:53All right, coming up, style to spare at this downtown loft.
13:57Stick around.
14:07Welcome back, everyone.
14:08Now we're with interior designer Lindsey Biondo Lugo at her client's Tribeca Loft.
14:13See how she brought a refined yet playful energy to the home,
14:17giving each space a sense of purpose while maintaining the loft's original character.
14:22Take a look.
14:26Hi, I'm Lindsey Biondo Lugo, founder of House of Rebel,
14:29an interior design firm based here in New York City.
14:32Welcome to our Tribeca project.
14:34The vision for this home was to keep things calm and family-friendly, but also playful.
14:38Because our goal at House of Rebel is to make sure that each project is unique
14:41and curated for our client's lifestyle, and I can't wait to show you what we've done here.
14:47When you step off the elevator into this loft apartment,
14:50you enter into this main entertaining space.
14:52It includes a chef's kitchen, a dining room, and a living room.
14:55We wanted to make sure each space had their own personality,
14:58but we wanted to keep the dialogue open between the spaces.
15:01The clients wanted a white sofa even though they have young kids.
15:04So we selected this plush, cozy, sectional sofa that we made sure was in a performance fabric.
15:09To contrast with the white, we selected a brown color palette for the pillows,
15:13accented by a houndstooth pattern.
15:14This coffee table had to be family-friendly.
15:17It's super durable, but still looks good.
15:19We make sure each space has a special element.
15:21And for this living room, it's this gorgeous green vase.
15:24Since the sofa is classic, we wanted to have a little fun with this chair selection.
15:28So we picked this warm brown velvet fluted chair to tie in with the brown color palette of the pillows.
15:34Since it's such an open space, we had to incorporate storage.
15:36So we took this as an opportunity to add in some warmth with this wood media console.
15:43When you have a big open space like this, you need an element that helps tie all the spaces together.
15:48So for this particular project, we selected wood.
15:50You can see that here in the dining room, at the dining room table, and in the bar.
15:54It's made of acai wood with curved edges that mirrors the look of the media console table.
15:59To make a bold statement and to hide stains, we selected a black boucle dining chair.
16:04We also incorporated this dome pendant, which is long enough to accommodate the height of the ceiling.
16:09One of my favorite moments in this home is this wallpaper.
16:12The mural itself was inspired by our client's love for abstract art.
16:16This bookcase was existing, but we styled it intentionally with pieces that were important to the client.
16:21It features their favorite restaurants from their travels around the world.
16:24And on this side of the bookshelf, we designed this custom bar.
16:27Our clients love to entertain, so this bar had to be functional but also sexy.
16:30So that's why we integrated open shelving.
16:32It shows off their stem work collection, but also makes it really easy to grab.
16:36And for the things they don't want to show off, we incorporated this closed storage on the bottom.
16:45For the primary bedroom, our clients wanted a calming, soothing, relaxing retreat.
16:50So for the bed, we selected this high headboard in this cream-colored cotton blend.
16:54But the standout feature in this room, one that's really important to us, is this amazing wallpaper.
17:00For the color palette, we stayed neutral with cream and black.
17:03And the abstract pattern is inspired by a piece of art that our clients love.
17:07And we thought this alcove right by the window was a great opportunity to put in a home office.
17:11We selected this sleek, open shelving and paired it with this polished chrome desk chair.
17:16Our clients tell us the minute they come in here they feel relaxed, which is music to a designer's ears.
17:22This walk-in closet leads you to a massive primary bathroom.
17:26We continued with a neutral color palette and incorporated marble finishes on the floors and walls.
17:31There's two vanities, a deep soaking tub, and a walk-in shower.
17:35All giving it a true spa-like feel.
17:41And finally, the hidden gem of this apartment, an outdoor oasis in the heart of Tribeca.
17:46So we brought in this bistro table, a set of chairs, and this umbrella.
17:50We selected these rattan chairs, which are super durable for outdoors.
17:54And we brought in a little color with our selection of pieces and linens.
17:58Our clients have told us it's the perfect spot for morning coffee.
18:04This project is a true reflection of what we love to create for our clients.
18:07Homes that are artful, livable, and full of story.
18:10Thank you for joining me. See you next time.
18:15Coming up, Martin Lawrence Bullard puts a fresh spin on Hollywood glamour.
18:19It's big, it's bold, and it's coming up next.
18:30Welcome back, everyone.
18:31We love seeing how the pros design for themselves.
18:34So we were thrilled when Martin Lawrence Bullard invited us in.
18:38He filled his Spanish-style villa in West Hollywood with curated collections, lively pattern, and bold color.
18:46See for yourself.
18:50Hi, guys. I'm Martin Lawrence Bullard, and welcome to my home. Come take a look.
18:57This is a 1920s villa built in the heart of the Hollywood Hills.
19:02And it kind of has this wonderful Mediterranean vibe that was so popular with the architecture of that period.
19:08All these amazing original details exist still in this house, like this wonderful stairwell.
19:13My living room is really my favorite spot.
19:20I actually designed this house 20 years ago for Craig Kilbourne.
19:24And when I bought it, I decided to put my own spin on it.
19:28Instead of decorating with somebody else, this time it was for me.
19:31I put in metal frame windows, which is one of the things that I really love.
19:35Really cool light fixturing was very important to me.
19:38And that is made out of bronze and actually horse hair.
19:40So it's a really interesting moment.
19:43It took a guy three weeks on his back up there painting out this very Moroccan flavor.
19:48And one of my really favorite moments in this space has got to be my palm trees.
19:53These palm trees actually once belonged to the famous fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
19:58They're really special moments for me.
20:03So the bar has become kind of like everybody's hangout spot.
20:08But the thing that I love about this bar is that the doors open up.
20:11And I have this amazing little fire pit area outside there, which becomes our real entertaining spot.
20:18The way I kind of made this a little jewel box, I think is with this wonderful emerald green color,
20:23which I incorporated in the ceiling in a high gloss lacquer,
20:25which kind of creates a very glamorous glow.
20:28I covered it in my wallpaper that I designed for Cole & Son.
20:31It's all about creating an ambiance.
20:34Make life feel sexy, that's what I say.
20:40So my bedroom is really my sanctuary.
20:43It's the space where I really get to totally chill.
20:46I love a four-poster bed.
20:49I just love the way it makes you feel.
20:50It kind of adds a little grandiose moment to the bedroom.
20:55I like to mix all the textures up.
20:57I always think the bedroom is a space to really luxuriate and spoil yourself.
21:01Amazing bed sheets, wonderful blankets.
21:03And I think it adds to the whole ambiance of this space.
21:12Thank you so much for coming to see me.
21:14Next time, come enjoy the pool with me.
21:20That's all for this week's episode.
21:22We hope you enjoyed these tours today.
21:24Don't forget, we'll be back next week with more homes and design inspiration.
21:27But if you can't wait that long, we get it.
21:29Check us out online on our YouTube channel and our Instagram page at OpenHouseTV.
21:34We're adding new stuff all the time just for you.
21:36Thanks so much for watching and we'll see you next week.
