An armed gang boarded a cargo vessel docked at the Port of Spain waterfront, robbing three crew members of cash and valuables.

Police say the incident occurred late Sunday night near the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

00:00Police say the robbery took place around 10.30pm aboard the vessel C. Elizabeth II,
00:05which was secured alongside a barge for repairs near the Port of Spain waterfront.
00:10Investigators report that a group of about 12 men, armed with firearms, cut lasses and axes,
00:16boarded the vessel and announced a robbery.
00:19The victims included the vessel's captain, a Grenadian national, along with two crew members,
00:24one from Malik Barataria and another from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
00:30The assailant reportedly stole several items, including cellular phones, jewelry, a GPS system,
00:37gas and oxygen tanks, an inflatable dinghy and a small engine.
00:42The value of some items is still being assessed.
00:45Police say the suspects then fled the scene in a pirogue.
00:50Hours later, around 5am, the captain reported seeing a group of men return to the vessel in a pirogue
00:56and attach a dinghy before leaving the area.
01:00Subsequent checks confirmed the dinghy was one of the items stolen during the robbery.
01:04Several other items, including an engine and a gas tank, were also recovered.
01:10Officers processed the scene and collected evidence,
01:13while investigators are working to obtain CCTV footage.
