Boat wreckage and one body have washed into T&T's waters over the past few days, however Top Cop Allister Guevarro says the TTPS will not make any link to the U-S strike against alleged Venezuelan drug traffickers, in the absence of a thorough investigation. Meantime Tobago fishermen say they fear for their lives and livelihoods, after discovering the wreckage in Tobago's waters. Rynessa Cutting reports.

00:00After a body bearing what appears to be burn marks washed ashore in Toco on Friday,
00:06the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service may have to determine
00:09whether the deceased was a victim of the recent U.S. strike against alleged Venezuelan narco traffickers.
00:17We can only answer that after a proper investigation is done.
00:20We do not wish to speculate or put anything into the public that will cause fear-mongering or any speculation otherwise.
00:27Over the weekend, Tobago fishermen happened upon boat wreckage in Tobago's waters.
00:57We are Spanish boat. We are sure what we did. Just find it dripping out in the sea.
01:04President of Old Tobago Fisherfolk Curtis Douglas says since the incident,
01:10the fisherfolk have been afraid to ply their trade.
01:13Now, it is very difficult to say exactly, yes, that is the boat that the Americans would have bombed.
01:21We didn't have a picture before, and no way, we've just seen something happening now.
01:26So it's very difficult, but we presume from what we've been seeing that that is the vessel.
01:33So we are very scared, the fisherfolk is very scared.
01:36Today is that vessel. Tomorrow could be the fisherfolks of Tobago who are going to apply an innocent trade to mine the family.
01:46Douglas is calling on the TG to give the fisherfolk some guidance.
01:51We need leadership, and the fisherfolk need some form of comfort coming from him as the leader of TG.
01:57So we are calling upon him and his team to ensure and give Tobago some form of reassurance,
02:04or some either stay home, do go to sea, and something to work out,
02:09or meet with us to work out some form of strategy in order to protect our fishing industry and food security in Tobago.
02:19He's offering the following advice to fisherfolk.
02:22Please do not go more than 45 miles.
02:25And try, I know you all, we, you all go out early in the morning and come on, or like 9, 10 o'clock.
02:30Try to make it in early.
02:32Please, because there is no, you all could be mistaken and be destroyed.
02:37So we as the fishing community, and as the president of all Tobago fisherfolk,
02:42we are saying fisherfolks to be very vigilant and careful in these troubling times.
