00:01:07Jay Tuesday crew in here and uh well NBA playoffs here Jay's super excited loves the NBA I'm actually

00:01:14very excited to dive the table is it's in a bad regular season I think we're set up for pretty

00:01:18damn good playoffs here we're gonna get into all the worst regular season let's not yeah you're

00:01:23right you're right it's been the worst but well actually I will take the temperature in a second

00:01:27and we also look we got Che we got baseball talk we got big cat versus Che debate coming up

00:01:33oh it's

00:01:34so contentious already well I know here's the here's a 160 tour is it we're gonna get into all this

00:01:40but

00:01:40I'm starting to realize something so I I told this story on the yak yesterday but Che called me on

00:01:45Saturday and I've said many times that Che for better or worse I've created this monster I am uh what's

00:01:52you're Dr. Frankenstein Dr. Frankenstein I'm Dr. Frankenstein that's really sad that I didn't

00:01:57know I what's the monster's name it's Frankenstein's monster who's Igor his assistant yeah okay either

00:02:10creation I am the one who brought him into this world I'm the one who can take him out of

00:02:14and by that I do mean actually kill him but here's the problem I have with Che I love him

00:02:20like a brother to me I know that I am for all his faults for all the things that drive

00:02:25me nuts I

00:02:25would do anything for him and I've said this many times I said that like he's got a job for

00:02:29life as

00:02:29long as I'm working he's working so he called me on Saturday and he said hey uh I'm thinking about

00:02:35buying a house putting some renovations into it I just want to make sure I'm good my contracts up and

00:02:39I was like I laughed at him I said yeah dude you're good like you're I've said this a million

00:02:43times you're

00:02:43good what I'm realizing is that was uh that call I should have I should have handled it differently

00:02:50because I like I liken it to when I first adopted Stella uh 14 years ago the first two months

00:02:56didn't bark at all literally didn't bark yeah then there was a day where it clicked and she was like

00:03:02oh these people love me and they're never giving me back and she's never stopped barking since hell yeah

00:03:07chay calling me on Saturday and getting the reaffirmation that he's going nowhere he's just

00:03:13like I can be as annoying and terrible as I want because no way he's getting rid of me and

00:03:19that's

00:03:19where I'm at dude congrats on the lifetime deal he's got a forever home I gave this man a forever

00:03:24oh my god uh happy gotcha day um chay is there when you called was there a part of you

00:03:32that was like

00:03:33maybe I'm going to get fired if I no but I mean my contract's coming up in a couple months

00:03:39know I just wanted actual reassurance I know we've said these things over the air and stuff like that

00:03:43but yeah I just wanted to know I'm I'm going to be committing a lot of money in a specific

00:03:51and I wanted reassurances I don't think that's crazy he basically did the like when you when you

00:03:55exchange like love you love you with your same another and then they hit you with like a do you

00:04:00that's what he hit me with how much yeah but do you but actually yeah I mean I I knew

00:04:06but I I don't know I it's it's a nervous time it's a nervous time in the chay house he

00:05:52compliment because you could actually go out and do something with your life it's actually some great

00:05:58insight kind of how it is working here it is uh anyway look wow okay what a start

00:06:03to today's show um hopefully the nba playoffs can be just as entertaining guys and okay again

00:06:09worst record season ever we're all in agreement terrible too many tanky teams it was really hard

00:06:14to watch to lock in uh i know how i feel how do y'all feel though when you look

00:06:21at the playoffs and

00:06:22how the stage is set because i'm getting a little excited i'm starting to feel a little something dude

00:06:25i'm excited i hate the play-in game though i despise the play-in game this is probably because i've

00:06:30been

00:06:30scarred by the play-in game for many years with the bulls playing the heat or the hawks uh alternating

00:06:36years for like seven years in a row yeah i think it's just stupid these like we now have an

00:06:42nba season

00:06:43where 40 percent of the teams are actively trying to be as bad as possible we don't need to expand

00:06:49the playoffs even more like the the ninth the the heat and the hornets are not going to win a

00:06:54series

00:06:55well counterpoint is this the best plan we've had yeah it might be only one losing record in this

00:07:01play or it's a fun team um heat we kind of know they're the same team every year magic are

00:07:08disaster

00:07:08but there yeah there's something there magic team i don't think there was anything there

00:07:14we thought there was going there going into the season we thought there was something there has not

00:07:18worked out they have completely uh you know underwhelmed all year long yeah now they have all their

00:07:24guys back so you're like oh maybe there's still something there i'm gonna say right now there's

00:07:27nothing there i i think the play-in game is just all about your perspective and who your team is

00:07:33because like you said if you're a hornets fan right now you love the play-in game you overcame a

00:07:38terrible start to the season you're so hot right now this allows you to make the playoffs or as in

00:07:42the past your season would have been over you have to be bought like i've been a fan of awful

00:07:46pelicans

00:07:46team that you felt like were on the rise and the play-in games were electric yeah but when you're

00:07:51one of like if you're like the sixers this feels uh awful here if if if you're the warriors like

00:07:57what does this do for you does nothing but it's not the playoffs you know what i mean like if

00:08:01you

00:08:01make them if the hornets had made the eighth seed and that was the playoffs they'd be like that's

00:08:05incredible the hornets made the playoffs they had an incredible season like they came out of nowhere

00:08:09they've been rebuilding for they've been bad forever i just don't i the play-in game it's it was just

00:08:15put in place for rich owners to say that they're competitive again it's the jerry reinsdorf rule

00:08:21that's what he's been taking advantage of a couple extra home games too yeah that's the jerry reinsdorf

00:08:26rule like the heat how many years has the heat been in the plan like exactly exactly so to them

00:08:33means nothing right again to the hornets that that whole fan base is going to be dialed tonight

00:08:46loving watching the hornets all year they're super fun they're going to be at home so the home crowd

00:08:51is going to be something they get really excited about this is a potential where if they win tonight

00:08:56and then they win the the next game they could be in a rematch with detroit who they had a

00:09:01with uh and is a perfect series because the hornets shoot a ton of threes play really fast the the

00:09:08pistons are a slow it down team they don't take a lot of threes they got the super

00:09:12starting kate conahan they got jalen duran this would be an ideal first round series you didn't

00:09:16answer the question he asked you about the play-in game i mean yeah you're rooting for the hornets

00:09:21to make it through i think that would be the most exciting so yes i think i you like to

00:09:24see the home

00:09:25markets that are kind of middling have something to be excited about have something to show up for

00:09:29i think it does get repetitive with the atlantas not this year uh chicago you know uh you know miami

00:09:35those teams the warriors have been in there for a while he's been in there for a lot yeah yeah

00:09:40what what so what about this is is like if you look at playing teams that could maybe

00:09:46make a bit of a run uh it was the heat ac team a few years ago right they ran

00:09:51all the way to the

00:09:51finals like is that the hornets is it the sixers sixers feel like there's some some meat on the

00:09:58bones there look again any of these are going to be long odds but if you had to choose one

00:10:02who

00:10:02would you throw your lot with sixers i'd be very worried about just just because uh joel and bead

00:10:06had appendicitis so he's out until probably middle of the first round uh hornets are interesting

00:10:13phoenix has been scrappy all year and they are getting healthy now so devin booker's good dylan

00:10:18brooks is good jalen green is good they split the season series with san antonio i'm not i wouldn't

00:10:23pick them to beat san antonio but i think they've been a frisky team all year and they will continue

00:10:27be frisky um okay now weren't the heat though was am i wrong that the heat would have been in

00:10:32the playoffs anyway in that year were they were they what what what play-in were they yeah uh i

00:10:37think they well i don't know i was gonna say i think they were the eight seed but i'm not

00:10:41sure if they won the eight if they just won the eight i gotta figure that out i'm looking it

00:10:45right now okay how about this then uh outside of the play-in though i do think there's actually

00:10:51quite a few what they're they did this that's kind of my point is like they were they were the

00:10:57playoff team right i i don't know if there's ever been a nine or ten to get in the playoffs

00:11:03win a series this could be the hornets that's what the hornets got to do this year because like that

00:11:29that don't know how exciting maybe is to people but rockets lakers is kind of crazy no luka it's

00:11:34gonna be katie and lebron one more time the old men if you're our age it's kind of probably your

00:11:39chance to watch those two do battle on a stage like this jay i see you grimacing you're you're ready

00:11:44to throw out the olds in with the new i think we got wimby i think that's gonna be great

00:11:49lakers rockets is maybe the second or third least exciting playoff series i think uh boston versus

00:11:58whoever they're gonna play is not gonna be very good and cleveland toronto is not gonna be super

00:12:01exciting the lakers and rockets so luka is i think he's still in europe yep yeah he's out until they're

00:12:08saying he's out until at least the first round yeah so that's not good i've heard mr rocket last year

00:12:14i was oh yes thank you eddie i don't remember mr oh mr rocket was big time mr rocket in

00:12:23face yeah and i kept on saying to him in the nba it's pretty simple and i'm sure we'll talk

00:12:28the spurs you can't win it all until you've done it at least once and you have to go and

00:12:33the wars and steven's like no this is the best team then they lost in the first round i didn't

00:12:37best i said that they could absolutely challenge the thunder which they didn't get the chance to

00:12:41uh they're doing it he's right yeah we didn't get the chance that's a good point steve they they had

00:12:49a hell of a first round series against golden state last year but the the lakers rockets like the rockets

00:12:54are not a very fun team no they they have some interesting players but kevin durant's nice uh

00:13:00i'm in thompson's nice shangoon's all right but they're they're a slow it down beat you up team which

00:13:04is a playoff style the lakers are almost unwatchable without austin reeves and luca it's lebron who's

00:13:1141 brownie's been playing okay is he going to get in the playoff rotation but they're just not

00:13:16like luke canard you're going to see luke canard you're going to see rue hachimura you're going to

00:13:19see uh deandre like this is not something i would want to sign up for it is the headline guys

00:13:25durant lebron outside of that there's not a lot okay but but look ant versus yokich is going to be

00:13:31badass that's going to be an awesome that's probably my one that has number one that actually

00:13:34that has like real history yeah yeah rematch is 2024 they had that great series against one another

00:13:39um is that your one uh yeah uh denver minnesota yes i think that's hawks knicks is going to be

00:13:47hawks that's not easy for the knicks no and really the knicks are one of the better storylines in the

00:13:52entirety of the playoffs uh how about i mean i'm excited to watch wimby on this stage and i know

00:13:58not his first time here but like kade cunningham right like we talked about the old with lebron

00:14:02and kd i'm excited to see some of the new guys on this stage now how they're going to transition

00:14:07a uh postseason play so i i don't know man i'm as long as it's not i feel like last

00:14:11year fair or not

00:14:12the perception of the playoffs was dueling blowouts like we got to have some quality battles here but

00:14:19if we do i think there's a lot of storylines to to sink your teeth into i'm actually going to

00:14:24revise

00:14:24it if charlotte gets the eight seed i think charlotte detroit's gonna be my favorite first

00:14:28round series okay oh wow yeah i mean the nba playoffs is a lot and i i do like watching

00:14:34and i will watch all of it but it's the it's the second and third rounds that really get me

00:14:38like the nhl playoffs is the first round that's when it's chaos and anyone can win the second and

00:14:43third rounds of the nba playoffs that's when you start like the potential of having the nuggets spurs

00:14:48in the second round is going to be incredible i wish they went back to five games in the first

00:14:53agreed i think it's a little too much especially for the teams that are like about to sweep a big

00:14:58time agree and it also gives you a better chance for an upset the upset yeah all right guys so

00:15:46the the the term that dave has been calling on this show a 160 tour okay somebody who is locked

00:15:52in for every single mlb game of their favorite team uh che claims to be a 160 tour dan you

00:15:59claim

00:15:59that it does not exist what what what do you think it's is 162 or is that an actual thing

00:16:05it is but the

00:16:07people who are 160 tours if they ever say they're 162 or they're eliminate eliminating themselves from

00:16:13being a 162 or the true sickos and we know a couple of them yep carabas meek phil uh former

00:16:20frank frank frank frank these guys don't brag about being 162ers they just do it yes that's just how

00:16:27they exist but i feel like they do look down on you but that's fine they but they do this

00:16:32is they're

00:16:33doing it not as a goal they're doing it because that's just what they do okay setting it as a

00:16:38goal

00:16:39before being like i'm gonna be a 160 tour has completely eliminated it yeah like when they

00:16:42look at their schedules like instead of putting like a doctor's appointment at this time like it's

00:16:46the game right that's on their schedule right so like to have 160 tour as like this thing that you

00:16:51were trying to accomplish and also this whole like it's only a piece of the game no no it's you

00:16:57watch the whole game if you want to and and again it's it's another che's in a weird spot because

00:17:03actually am very supportive of che in his baseball journey but what's happening now is che che is using

00:17:10sympathy on his side online where he's like i'm just asking questions and while he uses sympathy and

00:17:16says he's just asking questions and trying to grow the game he's also trying to be a 162er so by

00:17:21the

00:17:21time we get to the finish line he's gonna reverse it and reverse gatekeep everyone and be like well

00:17:25actually i'm a 162er no baseball baseball's for everyone but you're gonna brag that you 162

00:17:31that's a good point so so 162er in my mind is like yes instead of like doc you have the

00:17:38schedule

00:17:39and you know when your team's playing but like for example tonight the cubs are playing tonight

00:17:42we have like a bar slug to dark stream am i gonna be able to watch the whole game no

00:17:46but am i gonna

00:17:46have the game on in the car as i'm going to the event yes that's not something to brag about

00:17:51that's just like something people do like when i'm in the car and the cubs are on i'm listening too

00:17:55but i'm not walking around being like i listened to some of the cubs game today i watched every game

00:17:59throne it's expected yeah i'm gonna try to be attentive and be aware of every single game and

00:18:05watch as much of it as i absolutely can there of course there are gonna be obligations and stuff

00:18:09that i just don't see that this is not what a 162er is it's just like it's just it's a

00:18:14to try to gatekeep i'm not trying to gatekeep anything you will once you get to 162 that's just

00:18:19an assumption and i'm gonna and i feel like it's a fair assumption i i feel like it's likely a

00:18:23fair

00:18:23assumption as well okay so we'll put a pin into that well i never i never want to gatekeep anything

00:18:27baseball like we'll see it's also just it's there's just a lot of gatekeeping of fandom online

00:20:21big cat are the cubs a playoff team or are they a bad team no one knows well yeah no

00:20:27aside for the debate on my side is no one tv my side is they're seven and nine and it's

00:20:35yeah i'm a little worried i think that might be bad as a guy who hasn't watched a lot of

00:20:38think they they don't they're very uninspiring it's seven and nine now we're seven and nine oh my god

00:20:44we're seven and nine seven and nine is so far away from how many games you have to play oh

00:21:39games and then we started some guy and it was so funny because he was so bad and we were

00:21:50debate this because i'm a big believer that mid-may is when you can make a fair like this is

00:21:57team could potentially be or not be seven and nine is just so early steven think about it this way

00:22:03you're basically right now asking me to decide whether a team is good or bad after week two in

00:22:11the nfl okay fair i'll back that's what you're doing yeah right you know what i mean like it actually

00:22:16statistically works out to about the same maybe even maybe even halfway through week two like half

00:22:21time of week two so let's talk let's talk mid-may haven't been good not gonna pretend they've been

00:22:26good but but mid-may is is when you can make an assessment fair i don't want to be calling

00:23:50father of three little ones right now it is physically impossible for me to stay awake during any form of

00:23:57entertainment be like a movie sport event whatever and a master's nap far exceeds that of an nba play

00:24:03there will not be an egg salad hat at raptors calves facts i don't know about that there might be

00:24:08they're actually they're pretty hot items in the street right now the uh the the nap the the tip here

00:24:15is uh i played the game on sunday for the masters my kids uh were like wanting to play and

00:24:20i was

00:24:21really really tired and i play a game where i they try to uh like scare me when i fall

00:24:26asleep so they

00:24:27just run on the other side of the house and i'm like wait like five minutes and come back and

00:24:31i get

00:24:31like two minute micro naps oh that's oh yeah i gain a little burst and then i and then they

00:24:36shake me and i go ah and go crazy i might go get a vasectomy right after this dude this

00:24:42is the two

00:24:43minute micro naps they work if you had been in the multiple kids birthday parties that i was at this

00:24:48last week would you rather your nba team tank have the fifth best lottery odds or taking the fifth

00:32:14surprise you with taking a quarterback at that time i do think at some point in the first round he

01:04:41every single shot has to be uh just perfect there's no margin of error uh did you feel that

01:04:48and and and how do you how do you look to manage that for sure i think um i mean

01:04:53it's definitely

01:04:54a second shot golf course it's it's you know it's less about i mean it's definitely about like where

01:04:58you need to put it but also there's some definite areas that you cannot go um to each pin location

01:05:04on

01:05:04each hole so um but i think just understanding i mean unless you're scotty scheffler on the weekend

01:05:10and don't make bogeys for the most part you're you're going to make mistakes you're going to make

01:05:13bogeys it is what it is um but also knowing that like you can get hot out there and you

01:05:18can birdie

01:05:18some you know a few in a row so just trying to stay patient trying not to get too high

01:05:23or too low

01:05:24um and just yeah i mean you just got to take it as it comes you're going to get some

01:05:28funky bounces

01:05:28have some weird stuff happen but you know ideally you roll a couple long putts in or chip something

01:05:33in something like that and things will kind of go your way too jake has the money hit yet

01:05:39it's a great question i'm not sure oh i would be refreshing my chase over and over is that what

01:06:21leading up to it were you able to play augusta beforehand and do you think there's any type of

01:06:26like unfair advantage uh for rory to be able to play it as many times as he did um i

01:06:33mean i don't

01:06:33think it's an unfair advantage i mean he earned he earned that right by winning um and i didn't get

01:06:39to play before because i wasn't officially in until after houston so i didn't get in until the top 50

01:06:45in

01:06:45the world cut off after houston so i technically could have gone um since i skipped valero i could

01:06:50have gone a little bit early but anybody who's played in it before knows that that golf course on

01:06:56thursday is the first time that you really get to see augusta like whether you played a week before

01:07:02three months before the golf course is nothing like what you're going to see thursday morning so

01:07:06um you know we should i showed up on saturday night played on sunday monday and i i couldn't

01:07:12believe how slow the greens were i couldn't believe how long it was around the green so it's like you'll

01:07:17see guys in practice rounds they're chipping everything from the low areas they're chipping

01:07:20everything from off the green you know like the greens seem like they're super fast and you know

01:07:26but when you're there you know you show up on thursday and all of a sudden because they shut

01:07:30the course down for the par three contest around two or three o'clock on wednesday right and then they

01:07:35go out there with their mowers and they chop everything down to half the height so all of a

01:07:39sudden you show up thursday and you're like oh boy this is this is tight this is fast this is

01:07:44firm

01:07:44um and thursday was arguably like the toughest day too it was a little windier um the greens were

01:07:49firmer it was just i mean it was a little bit of a shock to the system yeah how different

01:07:55is the

01:07:55energy on sunday um i mean you can you can definitely you can definitely feel it i mean i feel

01:08:03like that

01:08:04was you know like we were joking about it kind of towards the end of the round like i was

01:08:08like i want

01:08:08to sit down and watch this because like you know it's it's not your standard leaderboards like you

01:08:13would see it at tour event like you know tour events you have electronic leaderboards you can see

01:08:17everything from first to last basically um but then on the leaderboards of the course out there

01:08:22they kind of just have like the either the leaders throughout the day or maybe somebody making a run

01:08:27or something like that but you really only see you know six seven ish relevant names so you have no

01:08:33idea

01:08:33you know for me exactly like for example like i had no idea if i was in eighth place or

01:08:3815th so it's

01:08:40it's a little bit you know you know you don't you don't want to think that like oh if i

01:08:44saw my name

01:08:45in the leaderboard you might just add unnecessary pressure but at the same time as players it's it's

01:08:50nice to kind of know where you stand um but yeah you can you can feel it especially when scotty's

01:08:56making

01:08:56a run like you can just you can just kind of tell you know with with the how the galleries

01:09:00are and

01:09:01where people are in the golf course and all that sort of stuff jake jake uh so the difference

01:09:07between 11th and 12th it was about 135 000 what goes through your head if you're lining up for

01:09:15like a 10-foot putt if you miss it is that something where you're like i just cost myself

01:09:21so much money or is it just like you're immediately on to the next one yeah i mean it's a

01:09:25i mean it's

01:09:26definitely a little bit of that at times i mean for me i was i knew that going into 18

01:09:30that it was

01:09:31going to be an important hole or at least i told myself it was going to be and um you

01:09:36know i i gave it

01:09:37a good run on my birdie putt and then it ran by pretty good as just a fast putt and

01:09:41then

01:09:42had that seven footer and i was like all right this is just like you know it's just one of

01:09:45those

01:09:46things you think to yourself for a second you're like i really just don't want to end my week on

01:09:49a

01:09:50shitty note like that like yeah thank you um so i uh yeah that was kind of the only thing

01:09:56i was

01:09:56thinking about but then you just kind of get lost in the process and and do your best to hit

01:10:00a good putt

01:10:00and you know luckily for me i guess i mean i i thought that putt was going to be big

01:10:05in terms of keeping

01:10:06me inside the top 11 if i would have missed it i would have been in the exact same position

01:10:10finished 11th by two but um but still nice knowing that you know you can step up and knock those

01:10:15when you need to jake what about this so did i read this correctly like have you had a moment

01:10:22you've just maybe reflected on your journey to get here i i think i read that at some point you

01:11:05when you find yourself suddenly running security at this bar i mean could you have ever fathomed

01:11:12that now you'd be finishing seven under at augusta uh and and already having punched your ticket to go

01:11:18back next year probably not i mean i i think you know i mean there were definitely times where i

01:11:23thought to myself you know i mean i was i was like working there during the event basically and

01:11:27like watching highlights on tv when i was working of the masters and all that stuff and so i'm

01:11:31standing there and i'm like i don't really know if there's i don't know if i should be doing this

01:11:35because i don't think anybody's really gone from here to there um but you know just kind of a short

01:11:41term thing that i'm you know i'm glad i did it i feel like it gave me some perspective and

01:11:45you know

01:11:45maybe a little bit of a kick in the butt that it's like we're gonna do this we got to

01:11:48do this

01:11:49now i'm not getting any younger um so yeah i mean it was uh it was a fun you know

01:11:55fun-ish time in my

01:11:56life but um i'm glad to be moved on from that so for all the bouncers out there just yeah

01:14:14and you just got the most crazy ball above your feet ball below your feet uphill downhill all that

01:14:19sort of stuff and it's a lot of it's a lot of like down and up every time when you're

01:14:23walking

01:14:23to a fairway things like that so um yeah you finish around and you go to get some like pt

01:14:28work done

01:14:29and you're just like good gosh man my my dogs are barking yeah but uh what what about like because

01:14:34as a long-time pro now i do you have a process for when it comes to that uh start

01:14:39of the tournament

01:14:40first tee box because like that seems terrifying to me i i don't like hitting golf balls in front of

01:14:46anybody much less thousands of people who you can just feel it in the air what's your process for handling

01:14:53um i got some good advice like a long time ago and i i think you know i was a

01:14:57lot more nervous my

01:14:58rookie year like my rookie year i was a first tee time on thursday so it was right after like

01:15:04gary and all those guys are hitting the opening tee shot so there's just a million people around the

01:15:08tee box and luckily i hit it well but this year it was like the i mean i was the

01:15:12most calm i'd ever

01:15:13been it felt like on a first on a first tee box i um you know i i think to

01:15:18me like the message i tell

01:15:19myself is like you know like yeah they're here to watch me like go ahead watch this you know

01:15:27watch your athlete right what would you feel like that's the mindset you gotta have yeah what would

01:15:31you do if you're golfing someone and they teed it up in the fairway just curious oh good question

01:15:36they teed it up in the fair like a second shot and yeah no they hit they hit their they

01:15:40hit their

01:15:41tee shot then they're in the fairway for the second shot they re-tee it and it's just like a

01:15:45friendly

01:15:46game like you're just having fun it's it's this guy i mean if you're just having fun i mean that's

01:15:51one thing if there's money on the line then like what are we doing but it's also crazy to re
