00:00:01Welcome in to a Friday edition of Wake Up Barstool.
00:00:05Let's have some fun, guys.
00:00:06The weekend is here.
00:00:07The NFL Combine is rolling right along.
00:00:09And who better talk to you about it than our guy Todd McShay,
00:00:12good friend of the show, Netflix star Todd McShay.
00:00:15We're also going to talk some college hoops.
00:00:17Very hot right now with one of the legends, Mikey.
00:00:19We'll educate you on old Alfonso Ellis.
00:00:22And I've got my top 10 college football quarterback list.
00:00:27It's another list.
00:00:27Making it around on social media.
00:00:30I think it's very interesting.
00:00:32We'll break it all down.
00:00:33It's going to be a very fun Friday Wake Up Barstool.
00:00:36Let's get it on.
00:00:56Welcome in.
00:00:57Welcome in, everyone.
00:00:59Friday Wake Up Barstool.
00:01:00Okay.
00:01:01I mean.
00:01:01We got to talk about it.
00:01:02So we got to address the two elephants in the room.
00:01:06Hey.
00:01:07Dude.
00:01:08You're an elephant too, bro.
00:01:10We love you, Megan.
00:01:11Megan's not here with us today.
00:01:12Meaning we have gotten significantly less good at gambling.
00:01:17And significantly less attractive.
00:01:20But these two men to my right.
00:01:22Michael Kadek and Dana Beers.
00:01:24Like, I don't know how much of you all watching on TV maybe follow all of our social media stuff.
00:01:29We'll do a podcast.
00:01:30We'll do a podcast together with Ella Griff, the Big Boys Club.
00:01:31It's awesome.
00:01:32It's very fun.
00:01:33Shout out Ella.
00:01:33You see them travel around the country.
00:01:36The live bet lads.
00:01:38Dana tries.
00:01:40Like, this is a bromance that has really flourished.
00:01:45I mean, these two love each other.
00:01:46And today, they showed up to work wearing the exact same thing.
00:01:52This was not a bit.
00:01:54This was not planned.
00:01:55Down to the shoes.
00:01:57I mean.
00:01:58Dude, I know people are going to say it.
00:02:00They're going to be like, you guys planned this.
00:02:03Barstool, all they do is have bits.
00:02:05Oh, my God.
00:02:06I woke up this morning and I was in between like three sweatshirts.
00:02:09So was I.
00:02:09And my intuition told me to wear this.
00:02:12Oh, my God.
00:02:12The intuition was a three hundred and.
00:02:15Fifteen.
00:02:16Fifteen.
00:02:16Fifteen pound man.
00:02:17Dude.
00:02:18He walked in and I go, Dana, nice.
00:02:21Is that the Barstool sports sweatshirt?
00:02:23He goes, yeah.
00:02:24I go, oh, my God.
00:02:25You're wearing black pants?
00:02:26Yeah.
00:02:27Is those a noble shoes on?
00:02:29Yeah.
00:02:30Wow.
00:02:31I just need a Steelers hat.
00:02:33But that's where I draw the line.
00:02:34Yeah.
00:02:34Can't wear a Steelers hat.
00:02:35It's just amazing because we've been talking about the natural loving connection that y'all have.
00:02:41It's akin to a romantic connection.
00:02:43Like a love at first sight type deal.
00:02:45And I mean, it just knows no bounds.
00:02:48This made me laugh as hard as I've laughed in like two months when they walked in today and I
00:02:53saw them.
00:02:54Yeah, man.
00:02:55I love you both very much.
00:02:56I'm very happy, dude.
00:02:57That's just when you know we're on the same wavelength.
00:02:59Yeah, our brains are just connected.
00:03:01I wish I was wearing something like that, though.
00:03:03That's way cool.
00:03:04Oh, this is that custom fit, man.
00:03:05Shout out my...
00:03:06No, I'm actually good off that.
00:03:07Shout out my sister, man.
00:03:09My sister, my older sister, Cammie.
00:03:11She has a clothing company called Show Me Your Moo Moo.
00:03:13Woo!
00:03:13And this is a custom shirt she made years ago.
00:03:17There's a lot of girls, like online and everything, that it's been a hot thing on...
00:03:22Yeah, she's a beast.
00:03:23She's way more successful than me, for sure.
00:03:25Yeah.
00:03:25She's the most successful kid.
00:03:26Wow.
00:03:28She's an animal.
00:03:28But yeah, she made me...
00:03:29This is my Friday fruit shirt.
00:03:31What's the largest size they go up to?
00:03:33Well, this is...
00:03:34That's what I'm saying.
00:03:35She doesn't make guys close normally.
00:03:36This is for a family picture thing.
00:03:39And then I've worn it for like five or six years now.
00:03:41Everybody always makes fun of me.
00:03:42But it puts me in a good mood.
00:03:44And it's Friday, dude.
00:03:46I mean, it's time to be in a good mood.
00:03:48The weekend is here, boys.
00:03:49Yep.
00:03:50I'm absolutely tired.
00:03:50Another week of work.
00:03:51Hay is in the barn.
00:03:52It's going to be 60 degrees here today before the snow rolls in tomorrow.
00:03:56I guarantee that means you two are going to be on the streets of Chicago this afternoon drinking beers.
00:04:03Unfortunately, I'm going home this weekend.
00:04:05I can't wait.
00:04:06Oh, wow.
00:04:07To the mainland.
00:04:08Okay.
00:04:08To the Commonwealth.
00:04:10Well, that'll be nice.
00:04:10But if I wasn't, you're right.
00:04:13That'll be nice.
00:04:14Kadek, what are you going to do with your boyfriend gone this Friday?
00:04:17I'm sad I had to make plans with other men around the office.
00:04:21I feel like I'm cheating on Dana.
00:04:23There will be a common factor.
00:04:25Like, I feel like there's me, Dana, and then like the middle common factor is Deutsch.
00:04:30Yeah.
00:04:30So he's in the mix.
00:04:32I think we're going to go to a German spot today and get boots.
00:04:35We're going to get those big 60-ounce boots.
00:04:3860-ounce boots.
00:04:40A Hefeweizen?
00:04:41Huh?
00:04:42Yeah, Hefeweizen.
00:04:43Those were very good.
00:04:45I love giant German beers on a nice day.
00:04:49Yep.
00:04:50I mean, it might be in the top 10 beers list.
00:04:53It could come in maybe around like 6, 7, somewhere around there.
00:04:56I don't know.
00:04:57I think.
00:04:58You dare.
00:04:59I'm trying to think about what.
00:05:01Maybe we should put together that list one day.
00:05:02Top 10 beers.
00:05:03We will.
00:05:04100%.
00:05:04But like 60 degrees Friday afternoon German.
00:05:07Yeah, yeah.
00:05:08Situational, right?
00:05:09I want to shower beer after a great accomplishment.
00:05:11I want to go full in depth.
00:05:12Yeah, yeah.
00:05:13Environment, time of day, who you're with.
00:05:16I agree.
00:05:16I want to go full in depth.
00:05:18So we'll save that list.
00:05:19I do have my quarterback list coming up later.
00:05:21Let's start, though, with some NFL combine news.
00:05:25Pass rushers are on the tip of everybody's tongues.
00:05:29As yesterday, we started to get measurements.
00:05:31And two of the most fearsome pass rushers, if not the two most fearsome pass rushers in the country last
00:05:37year, were Cassius Howell and Reuben Payne.
00:05:40I mean, think about this show, right?
00:05:42In Miami's run of the playoffs, we broke down Reuben Payne seemingly weakly here in Cadence Crawlers.
00:05:47Well, turns out they got short arms.
00:05:51You got Howell coming in at 30 and 7 eighths.
00:05:55So right under 31.
00:05:57Or that might be Payne.
00:05:58Excuse me.
00:05:58Cash Howell coming in at 30 and a quarter.
00:06:00According to Matt Miller, this would be the shortest arms for an edge rusher drafted in the first round since
00:06:06at least 1999.
00:06:10Cadick, how much does this matter?
00:06:13Listen, I don't really care about all of this.
00:06:18Like, everyone last year, Will Campbell, and then everyone just like, that's just something to blame when Will Campbell.
00:06:23Like, I hate that.
00:06:25It is like...
00:06:25Hold on, stay there for a second.
00:06:27Because you're right.
00:06:28That was a red flag with Campbell.
00:06:30Yes.
00:06:31But then Campbell ends up struggling in the playoffs.
00:06:33Well, you're saying, no, it's not...
00:06:34He didn't struggle because of his short arms.
00:06:36No.
00:06:38When he...
00:06:38Yes, maybe there are times in the run game.
00:06:41Like, the only time I think short arms affect, especially an edge rusher, is in the run game.
00:06:47Because they can't...
00:06:48They maybe not, like, will stretch and, like, they can't go two for one a lot.
00:06:53Strong arms pretty...
00:06:54Yeah, when somebody's got that reach and they can extend and then you're kind of sitting there flapping in the
00:06:58wind.
00:06:58The extension might not be, but O-linemen are taught to not block like this in the run game.
00:07:03Like, we're taught to bring in control.
00:07:06Yeah, true.
00:07:06So, I just don't believe in all the hype of that this should be such a huge factor.
00:07:11Like, it's just another number that these guys...
00:07:15Like, watch the tape.
00:07:16That's the biggest thing, is watch the tape.
00:07:18How do they perform against top players?
00:07:20And if they do well, and they do, Reuben Bain's an absolute monster.
00:07:24Like, they're going to be fine.
00:07:25Cassius Howell's a monster, too.
00:07:26Like, I just hate this narrative of, oh...
00:07:30Or, like, the small hands thing with quarterbacks.
00:07:32Like, I just hate it.
00:07:33Like, it just doesn't...
00:07:34Joe Burrow with small hands goes out and takes his team to a Super Bowl.
00:07:37Like, ugh, it just makes me so mad.
00:07:40So...
00:07:40Watch the tape.
00:07:40So, on the whole, I agree with you.
00:07:43Now, go back to that last chart, though, because that's interesting to point out.
00:07:46That's a list of the arm links of the top sack getters in the NFL last year.
00:07:51And they're all coming in at about over 33 inches or even...
00:07:56God, what's Miles Garrett?
00:07:5835.
00:07:58Good.
00:07:59God, man.
00:08:00That's kind of crazy.
00:08:01Was he made in a lab?
00:08:03It's unbelievable.
00:08:05But, but, but, so, so as you see, they're kind of not in that class necessarily.
00:08:12I think, um, I think this.
00:08:15I think that I agree with you, Mikey, in that, on the whole, I would trust the tape.
00:08:22And if a team does pass, and if these guys do fall, I think they represent incredible value
00:08:28for who they could fall to.
00:08:30But I do also believe, kind of like Big Cat was saying yesterday,
00:08:33these measurements, they're not the deciding factor.
00:08:37But if it's like a tie between guys, you may go with the guy that has the longer arms,
00:08:42or maybe the more desirable traits, if the tape is even.
00:08:45Now, for Hatchel, for these two, though, you've got to find me the guys that have even tape.
00:08:50Yes.
00:08:51And that, you can't find them in this.
00:08:53You won't find anyone.
00:08:54But what about the results during the season where we see them be dominant?
00:08:59Yeah.
00:08:59And see them be just nasty out there.
00:09:01But this is...
00:09:02What about that?
00:09:02It just gives someone, these people, these reporters and everything...
00:09:06It gives them something to talk about.
00:09:07It gives something to talk about.
00:09:08Like, Dana, stand up.
00:09:09I want to show you, like, in the run game, or in the pass game, you really don't need...
00:09:15Look at this idiots.
00:09:16But, dude, like, when...
00:09:18Like, T-Bob, let me ask you this.
00:09:19Yeah.
00:09:20The only time in the pass game that you need long arms, maybe,
00:09:23is when, like, a Miles Garrett does a one-arm bull rush.
00:09:26Are you saying as an O-lineman?
00:09:27No, as a D-lineman.
00:09:28Oh, okay, sorry.
00:09:29Because a lot of guys are swiping or ghost rush or, like, stuff like that.
00:09:33Like, the only time you're going to need it is when you get, like...
00:09:35But in the...
00:09:36I can see in the run game...
00:09:37Sorry.
00:09:38I see in the run game, like, if you're blocking me, like, I have to get separation on you.
00:09:43So if you just are into me like this with your arms...
00:09:45You get into...
00:09:46Like, it's going to be hard to get separation with short arms.
00:09:49I get that.
00:09:50But these guys get paid to sack the quarterback.
00:09:53Yeah.
00:09:54These guys get paid to sack the quarterback, and a lot of their moves don't incorporate
00:09:58their short arms.
00:09:59Like, Miles Garrett does a good job getting that one-arm bull rush in.
00:10:03Well, he can use it.
00:10:03I mean, he has freakish arms.
00:10:05Exactly.
00:10:05He's an outlier.
00:10:06But, like, a lot of these guys nowadays are doing the double-arm swipe, the pinch and under
00:10:11spin, or, like, the ghost rush around the edge.
00:10:14Like, it's not a lot of...
00:10:15I don't know.
00:10:16No, no, it's more, like, kung fu.
00:10:18It's, like...
00:10:19Exactly.
00:10:19And, like...
00:10:20Why is this not brought up during the season?
00:10:22You know, like, do they not get measured at any point?
00:10:24Well, no.
00:10:25Well, I mean, I think it's...
00:10:29It is undeniable, unfortunately for Bain and Howell, like, it is undeniable that their
00:10:33arms are going to be shorter than the vast majority of guys that are going to be out
00:10:37there rushing to the passer.
00:10:38But it doesn't mean it's impossible.
00:10:42Yeah.
00:10:42Dwight Freeney is the ultimate example.
00:10:44Guy's 6'1", 30-and-a-half-inch arms, and he's one of the top sack getters, Hall of Famer
00:10:51in NFL history.
00:10:52Now, again, though, being like, oh, we'll just do what Dwight Freeney did, you know, easier
00:10:56said than done.
00:10:57But I'm with Kadic.
00:10:58And I find most players are like this, whereas front office guys tend to be more maybe measurement-like.
00:11:04Most players are like, trust the tape.
00:11:06Don't overthink it.
00:11:07The only thing is, in the NFL, where everybody is a physical god, right?
00:11:13Like, every player, the worst NFL player you play on any given day is the best college
00:11:20player that you've played.
00:11:21Right, yeah.
00:11:22So these things do start to matter more, but I would still trust what I saw out of Reuben
00:11:26Bane and Cassius Howell over a very extended amount of time.
00:11:29You know what this is, Michael?
00:11:30Yes.
00:11:31Ready for this word?
00:11:32This is fodder for the Stephen Ches of the world.
00:11:36Absolutely.
00:11:37Absolutely.
00:11:37This is fodder.
00:11:38Ches eats it up like a pig at the trough.
00:11:41Just like...
00:11:43I will say this, too, guys.
00:11:46Rube, you know how big his hands are?
00:11:48Rube and Bane?
00:11:49No, I don't know.
00:11:50Nine inches.
00:11:51Small?
00:11:52Nine and an eighth.
00:11:53Nine inch.
00:11:53I'm nine inches.
00:11:54Nine inch kings, guys.
00:11:55We got another one.
00:11:56Show some respect.
00:11:57Show some respect on us, guys.
00:12:00T-Bob, little hand.
00:12:01T-Bob.
00:12:02So...
00:12:02We're thinking about how weird hands are.
00:12:04Yeah.
00:12:04Speaking of traits...
00:12:06Yeah, we'll move on from that.
00:12:07My bad.
00:12:08It's like we're just...
00:12:09We got sausages on us.
00:12:11It's crazy.
00:12:11Well, but they...
00:12:12But, yes...
00:12:13We got ten sausages on us.
00:12:14Ten sausages, but they're also incredibly articulate.
00:12:17You know, my buddies used to call me Sausage Fingers.
00:12:19Really?
00:12:20Yeah.
00:12:20It's not a bad name.
00:12:21And...
00:12:21Can you ever...
00:12:22It's not the best name.
00:12:23You got to add it?
00:12:23That these things...
00:12:26Could inflict so much harm on another man.
00:12:29Sonny Stiles could inflict a lot of harm with his hands.
00:12:33What a day for him.
00:12:34He had a day.
00:12:35Did you see him jump yesterday?
00:12:3743?
00:12:3843 and a half inch vertical.
00:12:41Oh, it's just like the coolest...
00:12:41For Sonny Stiles, dude.
00:12:43And, T-Bub, I believe you have some stats...
00:12:46Yink!
00:12:47...that are written out that he had a higher jump than who?
00:12:51Oh, I don't know.
00:12:52Let me see, actually.
00:12:53I haven't...
00:12:54Shout out Aiden Fisher right there in the corner.
00:12:56Hold on.
00:12:56I got it right here.
00:12:56Is that your boy?
00:12:57Yeah.
00:12:58Broad jump.
00:12:58Okay, okay, here it is.
00:12:59Sonny Stiles in the 2026 Combine.
00:13:02This comes from NFL Researcher Twitter account.
00:13:04Taller than Mike Evans.
00:13:05Faster than George Pickens.
00:13:07Quicker than Patrick Peterson.
00:13:09Jumps higher than Devontae Adams.
00:13:11More explosive than Derwin James.
00:13:13And heavier than Trent Cole.
00:13:14Did you know he started out as a DB, and they moved him to linebacker, and then they were
00:13:20just a freak at linebacker, and then he made me look like an idiot when I played him in
00:13:232024.
00:13:24Do you remember that?
00:13:25What's it like playing?
00:13:26What was it like going toe-to-toe with this guy?
00:13:29He made me look like an idiot, dude.
00:13:31Like, four times in a row.
00:13:32Because he's so fast.
00:13:33He would time up my snap count, and he would just, shoong, cross my face, knock the guard
00:13:39off, and I was turned backwards facing Curtis, and I said, uh-oh, this is not the spot
00:13:44I'm supposed to be in, and then Jack Sawyer would sack him.
00:13:47So, they did it a bunch, but he's so athletic.
00:13:50I want to pick your guys' brains on something.
00:13:52I'm not, like, the biggest, I don't invest a whole lot of time in the Combine.
00:13:56I usually spend most of my time watching the games and preseason and all that.
00:14:00How much of an impact do you think these things, like, Sonny Stiles had an awesome
00:14:06day.
00:14:07How much of an impact does that actually make on his draft stock?
00:14:10I think it will.
00:14:11I think, I think it.
00:14:14I think it's going to matter differently to the different teams, but I think maybe in
00:14:18Stiles' case specifically, this was a very big deal because off-the-ball linebackers don't
00:14:24get drafted that high.
00:14:25Like, the last time we saw an off-the-ball linebacker grow in the top 15 was back in 2020.
00:14:31But, and this will come into play with Caleb Downs in a way as well.
00:14:36The thing about Stiles is, though, think about what we just saw out of the Seahawks and Mike
00:14:40McDonald, to make a potentially poor sports analogy, you know how basketball, a lot of
00:14:46NBA colleges have gone to, like, positionless basketball, where you want guys to be able
00:14:49to do, think about what the Seahawks did with a guy like Nick Imanwarri last year.
00:14:53And maybe, like, Caleb Downs may represent more of him and Warri, but with Stiles, I mean,
00:14:58like we said, what is it, here's a guy who started as a safety, yet has that size, and
00:15:05so he becomes a match-up nightmare.
00:15:07Right, yeah.
00:15:08Because he can cover, he can rush the passer, he can do everything.
00:15:11And, again, when you're talking about the NFL, everybody's so freakish that the ones who
00:15:18are the ultimate freaks are always going to get their thumb put on the scale for them
00:15:22because their potential is just higher than that of others.
00:15:25So, I think, I mean, yes, he helped himself.
00:15:28I mean, he probably asserted himself as a top-ten pick yesterday.
00:15:31I mean, sub 4-5-40 at that size?
00:15:33I just remember DK Metcalf's combine and the impact it had on him in his draft stock, and
00:15:39it turns out he's a monster.
00:15:41So, yeah, I don't really pay a whole lot of attention to what's going on in the combine,
00:15:46but it's just interesting to me.
00:15:48A legendary broad team.
00:15:49Do you remember that dude John Ross?
00:15:51He ran like a 4-2.
00:15:52Yeah.
00:15:53I haven't heard of him again.
00:15:53And then he got, you know, first-round pick and then flamed out, but it is interesting
00:15:59just how much.
00:15:59But guys are always going to bet, because, like, that's something that you cannot teach.
00:16:06Right.
00:16:06You can't teach the raw athletic ability.
00:16:09So, if you're a coach and you're confident, which all these guys are, it's Anthony Richardson,
00:16:13who we'll talk about later in the show.
00:16:14He's now seeking a trade.
00:16:15Like, I can fix him.
00:16:17And I get it.
00:16:18I would take a shot on Anthony Richardson if I'm out there.
00:16:21And I'm like, the Vikings or whoever.
00:16:23Like, hell yeah, dude.
00:16:24He's hot enough where I think I can fix him.
00:16:27Yeah.
00:16:27And that's what this comes down to a lot of times.
00:16:29I just want to think about how much percentage of these coaches and these GMs are thinking
00:16:35about, you know, the combine versus tape.
00:16:39That's always interesting.
00:16:40Yeah, it's a, I don't know.
00:16:42If I was a GM, I would spend most of my time looking at the tape and then use the
00:16:46combine
00:16:47to kind of confirm my thoughts that I had from the tape.
00:16:51I agree that, but even then, it's so tough, because you get into, like, the interviews matter.
00:16:57Like, arguably, the combine, the interviews matter as much as anything else.
00:16:59That's why Fernando's just doing interviews, like, just doing media, and then he's going
00:17:02to throw at the pro day.
00:17:06Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:17:07Here on FS1, it's Friday.
00:17:09I hope you're having a great day out there.
00:17:11Same.
00:17:11Have a good time.
00:17:12We are.
00:17:14Who hasn't been having a great time lately?
00:17:16It's been Will Campbell.
00:17:17You know, it was a rough playoffs.
00:17:19It was a rough Super Bowl.
00:17:20That's my guy.
00:17:21I'm betting on Will.
00:17:22He's going to be all right.
00:17:23I think he's going to be fine.
00:17:24He's just fine.
00:17:25Again, the mental test that he's going through is greater than anything else, but there's
00:17:31only one way to attack something like that, and it's by work, right?
00:17:34It's just getting after the offseason.
00:17:36So, I was very happy the other day when I'm on the internet, and I see that my guy's getting
00:17:39it in 24-7 training.
00:17:42Here he is, dude.
00:17:44He's out at the bars drinking.
00:17:45Doesn't matter.
00:17:47Who is this guy?
00:17:47Is that Will?
00:17:47Doesn't matter.
00:17:48He's still hitting his pass sets ready to go, dude.
00:17:52Look at that, dude.
00:17:53Look at that set, dude.
00:17:55Does he put on some weight, too?
00:17:56I don't know.
00:17:57That's how he's going to protect our guy, Drake May, next year.
00:18:01Wait till you see how the stomach jiggles when Will walks back.
00:18:04Oh.
00:18:05Oh.
00:18:06Yeah, no, no.
00:18:07That ain't no jiggle.
00:18:07That looks tight.
00:18:09That looks tight.
00:18:10Who is this guy?
00:18:11Who is this guy that recorded this?
00:18:13You know how many?
00:18:13This was Jack Coleman.
00:18:16Okay, wait.
00:18:16Go back to the...
00:18:18Jack Coleman?
00:18:18The guy that worked for us?
00:18:20Yeah.
00:18:21He was there.
00:18:22This is Beach House.
00:18:23This is that Beach House.
00:18:24Beach House.
00:18:24No, I'm saying reported.
00:18:27Oh.
00:18:27No, no, no.
00:18:28So this is like an NBA Centel NFL account.
00:18:31Okay, all right.
00:18:32They also got Brock Bowers yesterday.
00:18:33They did a fake turkey hairline on him.
00:18:35Yeah, I saw that.
00:18:36It's actually so embarrassing how many people in the comments actually thought this was
00:18:41Will Campbell.
00:18:41Yeah, man.
00:18:42Yeah, so for those who don't know, Adam Farrell...
00:18:43You did?
00:18:44You genuinely thought that was Will Campbell?
00:18:46Come on, dude.
00:18:47That is embarrassing.
00:18:48I love...
00:18:49Listen, I love my parents.
00:18:50I love my dad.
00:18:52He might get caught by that.
00:18:53Yeah, oh, without a doubt.
00:18:55Shout out my dad.
00:18:55He's probably watching.
00:18:56The Adam Farrell account, it's got the classic NFL insider setup, where it just says his
00:19:01name, NFL, and then it's got like a super reporter-y looking picture.
00:19:05It's a good bit.
00:19:06It's a good bit.
00:19:07Mikey, you look good taking that pass set, though.
00:19:09You look really good taking that pass set.
00:19:11All right, so in MLB news, spring training's underway, and, well, Giancarlo Stanton made
00:19:17some news, as he says he's planning to make his spring debut next week and play the entire
00:19:22season, despite having tennis elbow right now.
00:19:26That is, quote, that's what he said.
00:19:28He said, quote, I can't open a bottle.
00:19:30I can't open a bag of chips.
00:19:33That doesn't matter.
00:19:34I want a full season.
00:19:36That seems at odds with one another.
00:19:39It seems important as a batter in baseball, when it needs to hit the ball.
00:19:44I'll say this.
00:19:46I could have no arms.
00:19:48I'll still open a bag of chips.
00:19:49Well, let's put it to the test then.
00:19:51Let's put it to the test then.
00:19:52No labels, guys.
00:19:53Remember, don't show any labels here.
00:19:56We have bags of chips.
00:19:58There are multiple ways with which to attack this.
00:20:01I find it hard to fathom that Giancarlo says that he can't accomplish it, that he's going
00:20:07to go full season.
00:20:09This is like some great, is this how, okay, okay.
00:20:11Oh, so you're doing this without your, without your arm.
00:20:14They said no arms.
00:20:16Okay.
00:20:16Oh, oh, okay.
00:20:17No arms at all.
00:20:18No hands.
00:20:20Can we, what if I got it like hooked on my leg?
00:20:26This is what people ask for.
00:20:28This is what you're going to get with the Fridays at once.
00:20:31Wait, what, can we hook it in the crook of our elbow?
00:20:33Like, what about like, oh.
00:20:35Oh, I've got a hole in mine.
00:20:42Did you get yours?
00:20:45Oh yeah, we're just smashing our mic, aren't we?
00:20:49Ah!
00:20:50I did it.
00:20:52You got it?
00:20:53How'd you get it?
00:20:55I give up.
00:20:57Ah!
00:20:58I give up.
00:21:00How would I normally open a bag of chips?
00:21:03I would just do this.
00:21:06Why is it?
00:21:08No, you don't rip, boys.
00:21:10Jeremy!
00:21:11So production seems to be under the impression that some people would rip open a bag of chips
00:21:17instead of split.
00:21:18Michael, that's how open you got it just now?
00:21:20Nice job, dude.
00:21:22I barely, I could barely get more.
00:21:23Listen, T-Bob.
00:21:25Uh-huh.
00:21:25As a hitter in the MLB, this seems troublesome.
00:21:28I would say so.
00:21:30I would say so.
00:21:31I can't imagine the most reasonable fan base in America, the New York Yankees.
00:21:36They are reasonable, aren't they?
00:21:37Anyway, I can't imagine that they're going to take this reasonably as they normally would.
00:21:43What are you giggling about, Mikey?
00:21:45We're on live television, and we just all try to open a bag of chips with no arms.
00:21:55Hey, it's not football season.
00:21:57You got to mix it up a little bit.
00:21:59Guys, I hope you all enjoy the show.
00:22:00We're just trying to bring a little levity to your Friday.
00:22:02This is so fun, dude.
00:22:04Speaking of the Yankees, shout out to C.C. Zabathia.
00:22:08He's going to get his number 52 retired by the Yankees.
00:22:11But it does beg the question, are the Yankees running out of numbers?
00:22:15This will be the 24th, 24th Yankee to get his number retired.
00:22:21That's a lot.
00:22:22I've had this take for a while.
00:22:23It's only 100.
00:22:24What happens when they just...
00:22:25No, it's only 99.
00:22:27Yeah, true.
00:22:27Exactly.
00:22:29Eventually, they're going to run out of numbers.
00:22:30What do they do in like 400 years?
00:22:33They're not going to have any numbers left.
00:22:34I think they start unretiring?
00:22:36Trippy digies.
00:22:37That makes you think...
00:22:38Maybe once you're retired for 50 years, the number comes back?
00:22:41This is also a question I've had.
00:22:42What if they just run out of movie titles someday?
00:22:46That's what I mean.
00:22:47True.
00:22:48Right?
00:22:48Yeah, I mean, eventually, it's got to happen.
00:22:52I know.
00:22:53So, this makes me think, hot take, maybe in like 400 years, we're going to start seeing
00:22:58people being numbered 101.
00:23:01I would say...
00:23:02102.
00:23:03We're decimals.
00:23:03If we're still around and we're still playing baseball in 400 years, we beat the odds.
00:23:09Why wouldn't we beat?
00:23:09Good for us.
00:23:10I don't know, dude.
00:23:10Maybe it's my existential dread.
00:23:12I'm feeling a little societally hooked.
00:23:15My great-great-great-great-grandson's going to be balling, dude.
00:23:17Yeah, Willie.
00:23:18As he's just like...
00:23:20I mean, it's going to be like Wally.
00:23:22We're just all...
00:23:23What?
00:23:23Why are you mad?
00:23:24I'm not going to attack on you.
00:23:25You were trying to take a shot at me.
00:23:26No, no, no.
00:23:27I'm just talking about, you know, are we going to be machines at that point?
00:23:30Digital consciousness?
00:23:32Wally.
00:23:34Wally.
00:23:35Listen, Steve's back here.
00:23:36Wally.
00:23:37He's had a great career, but...
00:23:40Wally loves me.
00:23:42Can production tell me how many years he played on the Yankees?
00:23:45Production?
00:23:46Which, it was probably three or four years, right?
00:23:50Whoa.
00:23:50There's no way.
00:23:51There's no way that...
00:23:53Eleven years in the Yankees.
00:23:55There's no way they retired.
00:23:57Eight with Cleveland.
00:23:57I was thinking of him.
00:23:58I kind of do think of him as a...
00:24:01I think of him as a guardian.
00:24:02Yeah, as a guardian.
00:24:03As a guardian.
00:24:04I agree.
00:24:05Wow.
00:24:05I was off.
00:24:06Okay.
00:24:07Cut that.
00:24:07Can we cut that from live TV, please?
00:24:09Whatever, though.
00:24:10Congratulations to the Yankees.
00:24:11Another number retired.
00:24:13Enjoy running out of numbers as we continue to go forward.
00:24:17Michael, has anybody ever told you you look like the captain off of the Wally ship?
00:24:23Sorry, I couldn't hear you.
00:24:24I have something in my ear that's just...
00:24:27Oh, yeah, I forgot.
00:24:28I'm probably going to be...
00:24:29Sorry, go ahead.
00:24:30Go ahead.
00:24:32No, you know who really does look like the captain?
00:24:34Connor, if you can get this put next to each other.
00:24:37Arthur Smith and the captain of the ship from Wally are 100% twins.
00:24:43People say I look like Arthur Smith, too.
00:24:45Okay, well, then that would be...
00:24:47Oh, okay, never mind.
00:24:48We can't do the picture of Wally.
00:24:49That's Disney.
00:24:49I haven't watched Wally since I was probably like seven.
00:24:55Never seen it.
00:24:55It's a great movie.
00:24:56It is a great movie.
00:24:57I just remember him going, Wally.
00:24:59Yeah, a little robot so cute.
00:25:00Yeah, it's a good movie.
00:25:03All right, guys, so let's do this.
00:25:04Okay.
00:25:06Let's go ahead, and we're going to go to an early break here.
00:25:11And then I want to start talking college football.
00:25:16I want to revisit the Ohio State topic real quick, NFL draft,
00:25:20because you're talking about not one, not two, not three,
00:25:23but maybe four Ohio State Buckeyes that could go in the top ten
00:25:27in this upcoming draft.
00:25:29And then I'm going to give you my top ten quarterbacks
00:25:31in all of college football next here on Wake Up Barstool.
00:25:40What's happening, y'all?
00:25:41Welcome back.
00:25:42Wake Up Barstool.
00:25:44Friday.
00:25:45Feeling good?
00:25:46No, dude, Carson, this is – did they tell him to do this?
00:25:49This is insane.
00:25:51This is – in a day where we could not be more dumb and out of control,
00:25:58you've managed to lower the bar.
00:26:00Dude, run live television.
00:26:02My mom's watching.
00:26:03You can't do this to me.
00:26:05You're 22 years old.
00:26:06My mom's watching this.
00:26:07I was getting blackout drunk when you were crapping your pants.
00:26:10Okay?
00:26:11You're a child.
00:26:13Unreal.
00:26:14Anyway.
00:26:15And play for national championships.
00:26:16Yeah.
00:26:17Two-time scout team player of the week.
00:26:18Can't do that.
00:26:18And you couldn't even talk.
00:26:20You're going to be swaddled.
00:26:21Yeah, same.
00:26:23Unbelievable.
00:26:24Let's talk some ball.
00:26:26Let's talk some ball.
00:26:26After that, I need it.
00:26:28I need like a little palate cleanser.
00:26:30Okay, so I want to revisit the Ohio State conversation
00:26:34because this is absurd,
00:26:35and it's a credit in some ways to what Ohio State has built.
00:26:39I would also beg the question,
00:26:40is it a criticism of what they did last season?
00:26:45Because we broke down Sonny Stiles today that he had yesterday.
00:26:49The combine was unbelievable.
00:26:50He looks like he's going to be a top-ten pick.
00:26:52Of course, there's Caleb Downs, who for, what, three years now
00:26:57has been like first or second best player in all of college football.
00:27:01And Downs is interesting because safety is a position
00:27:04that normally doesn't get drafted super high.
00:27:07It's a bit like running back.
00:27:08It's a little undervalued.
00:27:10However, Downs is such a freak and such a seemingly sure thing
00:27:15that that has to bump him up.
00:27:17And, again, look at what, like, Nicky Manwari did with the Seahawks.
00:27:21Witherspoon in the Super Bowl.
00:27:22Yeah, look at Devon Witherspoon.
00:27:23The voice packages.
00:27:24Absolute animal.
00:27:25Look at, like, Kyle Hamilton, right?
00:27:27Like, Caleb Downs is that type of safety.
00:27:31So, already, again, what's working now in the NFL
00:27:33may be going to bump him up a little bit there.
00:27:35So, Caleb Downs is probably going to go to the top ten.
00:27:37But, Arvel Reese, I mean, you saw Arvel Reese firsthand, right?
00:27:41Nut job, dude.
00:27:42Who was harder, Arvel Reese or Sonny Stiles?
00:27:44Well, so, Arvel didn't...
00:27:47I went against Sonny more than Arvel Reese when I played him.
00:27:50Last year, obviously, he was much more of a every-down player,
00:27:55but he was more of a kind of blitz-package guy
00:27:58when we played in 2024.
00:27:59But, so, Arvel, though, another guy that's a match-up nightmare.
00:28:04Yeah.
00:28:04I mean, here he is.
00:28:07Now, they're projecting him as an off-the-ball linebacker,
00:28:09but 6'4", 240.
00:28:11On third down, you can line him up on the edge.
00:28:14He can rush the passer, but he's also got coverage skills.
00:28:16He's great against the run.
00:28:18That feels like a top ten pick.
00:28:20And then there's Cardinal Tate.
00:28:21That's my ideal dimensions for myself, 6'4", 240.
00:28:25Yeah, that would be awesome.
00:28:26That would be sick.
00:28:27I mean, that would be...
00:28:27I've got, like, 25 pounds to go.
00:28:29That would be sick.
00:28:30He'll get there, dude.
00:28:31Trust me.
00:28:32And then there's Cardinal Tate, who, like,
00:28:34Ohio State just seems to spit out.
00:28:36I mean, look at Emeka Ibuka this last season.
00:28:39Cardinal Tate's not even the best wide receiver on his team in college.
00:28:43JSM.
00:28:44And, yeah, JSM.
00:28:45And here he is, probably the best wide receiver in this draft.
00:28:49He could go top ten.
00:28:51So, again, credit to Ohio State.
00:28:53That would be truly unbelievable.
00:28:55A year after they had four first-round picks, I think it was,
00:28:58they could have four in the top ten.
00:29:00Yeah.
00:29:02But should they have won more?
00:29:03It's just a factory of absolute beasts, man.
00:29:07Yeah.
00:29:08Just a factory.
00:29:09I didn't realize Cardinal Tate was that much of a, like,
00:29:12his stock was that high.
00:29:13He's wide receiver one in this draft.
00:29:15Yeah.
00:29:16I mean, that's what they...
00:29:17However, your boys took care of him this year,
00:29:21and that's all that matters.
00:29:22All that could be great, you know, four top ten picks,
00:29:26but can you win the Big Ten championship?
00:29:28Like Kentucky basketball.
00:29:28Can you win the national championship?
00:29:31And so, yeah, it's like, how do you parse that as an Ohio State fan?
00:29:34Because on one hand, again,
00:29:36you have to be excited about the machine that you've developed.
00:29:40Right.
00:29:40In terms of bringing in the best talent, retaining that talent,
00:29:44developing that talent.
00:29:45But then, you love Ryan Day, he got the national championship.
00:29:48So, ultimately, that's going to give you a long leash to play with.
00:29:52But this does kind of drive home some of the disappointment
00:29:55from this last season.
00:29:56Yeah.
00:29:56Where every time you ran into a real test,
00:29:59you were kind of found a bit wanting.
00:30:01Yeah.
00:30:01And, you know, it's like, all these guys are so amazing.
00:30:05It just, like, kind of blows my mind that they just didn't execute
00:30:09with the weapons that they have in the big-time moments.
00:30:12Like, both sides of the ball.
00:30:14I mean, Caleb Downs and Arvel Reese are top ten picks,
00:30:17two of the best defensive players in the draft.
00:30:19And then you have the other side of the ball,
00:30:21Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate.
00:30:23I mean, it's just unbelievable.
00:30:24And I know Ohio State's offensive line wasn't the best this year.
00:30:27But it just blows my mind kind of thing.
00:30:30Credit to Indiana.
00:30:31Credit to Kurt Cignetti.
00:30:32Even more credit due there.
00:30:33All right.
00:30:34Now let's talk top ten quarterbacks.
00:30:36I'm actually excited to hear this.
00:30:39Yeah.
00:30:39So, Cover 3 podcast, Danny Cannell, Tom Fornelli,
00:30:42they released their top ten quarterbacks.
00:30:44Which then, you know, because it's how the internet works,
00:30:46I was like, ooh, I want to stop and think about my top ten.
00:30:48And I would say this, off the bat, this top ten list,
00:30:53this is a fun year in college football.
00:30:56A lot of great quarterbacks.
00:30:57In that last year, if you look at our preseason top tens,
00:31:01they ended up being unbelievably wrong.
00:31:04Right?
00:31:04Like, everybody had Adler, Nussmeyer, Klubnik,
00:31:08and all these guys completely fell off.
00:31:09Right.
00:31:10This year, I could have put 20 guys on this list.
00:31:14So, here are the guys that are not on my top ten.
00:31:17Gunnar Stockton.
00:31:19Byron Brown, who's now going to be at Auburn.
00:31:21That's very exciting.
00:31:22Go look at his number in South Florida last year.
00:31:23Daman Williams.
00:31:24Bear Bachmeier, who is very fun.
00:31:27A lot of potential.
00:31:28Devin Dampier.
00:31:28CJ Bailey.
00:31:29Noah Fafita.
00:31:30Lenora Sellers.
00:31:31I don't got DJ Lagware on this.
00:31:32I don't got Sam Levitt on my top ten.
00:31:35I agree with all those.
00:31:36I think he's right outside Lane Kiffin, LSU.
00:31:38Oh, I do have Byron Brown.
00:31:39Sorry, I changed that this morning.
00:31:40Whatever.
00:31:41Shut up, Jeremy.
00:31:42The point is, those are all very good quarterbacks
00:31:44that did not make my list.
00:31:47So, here it is.
00:31:47I love him.
00:31:48Let's see it, T-Bobby.
00:31:48Byron Brown, I love him.
00:31:50So, at number ten, I actually do have Byron Brown.
00:31:52I did that this morning.
00:31:52I forgot.
00:31:53I was workshopping last night.
00:31:55He goes to Auburn.
00:31:56Probably the best dual-threat quarterback in the entire country.
00:32:00And he follows Goalish to Auburn.
00:32:03And I'm a little worried about the transition of the SEC, perhaps.
00:32:07But Auburn always has a lot of talent.
00:32:09And so, I think he's going to make some headlines next year.
00:32:11At number nine, we've got Drew Mestemaker.
00:32:13Yes, Dan.
00:32:14No, I'll wait until you're done.
00:32:15No, no, go, go, go.
00:32:16I'll wait until you're done.
00:32:16You sure?
00:32:18Okay, Mike, you go.
00:32:18Did you have Arch last night?
00:32:21I had Arch at number one last night.
00:32:22Okay.
00:32:23I said multiple times the video is a workshop list.
00:32:26No, because I saw that last night.
00:32:27I watched it.
00:32:28And immediately, I said, I want Dante Moore at one.
00:32:31So, I wrestled with this for a while.
00:32:34When you look at my top guys.
00:32:35Like, Dante Moore and Julian Cain started at the top.
00:32:38They moved to the middle.
00:32:39Because I was like, well, they were surrounded by the best talent.
00:32:41But kind of both when they got tested and in love.
00:32:44Yeah.
00:32:45But then I came back to the fact, but in their first season of action,
00:32:49they were so damn good.
00:32:51Right.
00:32:51They're still going to be surrounded by talent.
00:32:53So, I'm expecting a big step forward.
00:32:55Yeah.
00:32:55Sorry.
00:32:56So, that's how Moore, no, that's how Moore's saying it.
00:32:58One, two.
00:32:59Trinidad Chambliss, I think is like the best gamer in this bunch.
00:33:04Yeah.
00:33:04The most experienced.
00:33:05I just got major questions about the offensive masterminds leaving.
00:33:09Here's my question.
00:33:10Yeah.
00:33:10And this isn't only because he follows me on Instagram,
00:33:13and he's a close personal friend of Michael Kadick and myself.
00:33:17Where's Texas Tech's guy?
00:33:18He's not even on the bottom line.
00:33:19Oh, yeah.
00:33:20Sorry.
00:33:20He should have been in the first.
00:33:21He's not even on the bottom line.
00:33:23I think that's where I screwed up.
00:33:24He was.
00:33:25Where's Sors.
00:33:25Sorsby would have been, he would have been my, he's like right there.
00:33:28Yeah, I didn't even think about that.
00:33:29Where's Sors.
00:33:30He's right there with Sam Levitt.
00:33:32They're like 11-12.
00:33:33I should have mentioned him and the guys that are not on the list.
00:33:36He is on a lot of these lists.
00:33:37Yeah, he is.
00:33:38He's a baller.
00:33:38I got Archmanian at four because I love how he ended the year.
00:33:41I agree with that.
00:33:41A ton of potential there.
00:33:42I got Hoover at five because the Indiana bump.
00:33:45He's already very good.
00:33:46Look what happened to Rourke.
00:33:47Hoover.
00:33:48Look what happened to Mendoza.
00:33:50Have you thought about that yet?
00:33:51Yeah.
00:33:52White boy Rickson's saying that.
00:33:53CJ Carr was awesome as a freshman at Notre Dame.
00:33:57I question a little bit in a post-Jeremiah Love age.
00:34:00Yeah.
00:34:00What happens there.
00:34:01Darian Mendoza, incredible stats.
00:34:04Now he'd be at Miami with weapons like Tony.
00:34:06Are you kidding me?
00:34:07Yeah.
00:34:07That's going to be where he needs to cut down turnovers.
00:34:09Jaden Maiav is one of the more underrated guys of the country over there at USC.
00:34:12Losing with Kai Lemon is going to hurt.
00:34:15And then Drew Mestemaker.
00:34:16Yep.
00:34:16Who if you don't know his story, Oklahoma State.
00:34:19Unbelievable.
00:34:19We talked to Morris.
00:34:19He was great last season in North Texas.
00:34:22One of the highest rated passes in the entire country.
00:34:24Never even played quarterback in high school.
00:34:27And now is making $4 million.
00:34:30And Oklahoma State's interesting.
00:34:32Because they're a team that has a lot of money to play with.
00:34:36A lot of juice right now.
00:34:37And they're finally in a post-Mike Gundy age.
00:34:40Like I think there's...
00:34:41I'm buying my Drew Mestemaker stock here.
00:34:44I like your top four.
00:34:45I like your top five.
00:34:46I think I want to bump Maiava up.
00:34:49Okay.
00:34:50Just based off his just raw talent, raw playmaking ability.
00:34:55Deep ball ability.
00:34:56I love his deep ball.
00:34:57I think I'd bump...
00:34:59I think I'd bump him up to six.
00:35:01Car seven.
00:35:02Mensa eight.
00:35:03But I like...
00:35:04And I would put Sorsby at probably eight.
00:35:07So who are you getting rid of?
00:35:08I'm getting rid of...
00:35:11I'm getting rid of Byram Brown.
00:35:15Sorsby...
00:35:16Or Maiava six.
00:35:18Car seven.
00:35:20Sorsby eight.
00:35:21Mensa nine.
00:35:22Mestemaker ten.
00:35:23Okay.
00:35:24There you go.
00:35:24Only change I would make is probably throw Sam Levitt in there somewhere.
00:35:28I think he's going to have a monster season.
00:35:30And also Drew Mestemaker...
00:35:32He could have one of those like Heisman type really breakout...
00:35:36Like he had a breakout season.
00:35:37I'm talking breakout breakout season.
00:35:39Yeah.
00:35:40Mestemaker and Brown are in the same spot there.
00:35:42They're going to be upgrading in competition.
00:35:44But they're also going to be upgrading in talent around them.
00:35:46Going to be really interested to see who flourishes there.
00:35:49Love you, Sorsby.
00:35:49Coming up next.
00:35:50Who better talk NFL draft than Netflix star and host of the Todd McShay show.
00:35:56Todd McShay.
00:35:57Right here on FS1.
00:36:03Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool on FS1.
00:36:06Uh, look at us, guys.
00:36:08We shouldn't be talking about the NFL draft.
00:36:11You know who should?
00:36:12The legend who literally has a show on Netflix to talk about the NFL draft.
00:36:16And that's our guy, Todd McShay.
00:36:19Now I think we consider a good friend of the show.
00:36:22Beautiful baby blues.
00:36:24He's live from the combine.
00:36:26Would you stop, man?
00:36:26Todd, what's up, man?
00:36:27How we doing?
00:36:28Uh, pretty hectic time right now.
00:36:30How we holding up?
00:36:32Pretty good, man.
00:36:33Pretty good.
00:36:34We were here taping until about almost 11 last night.
00:36:36And, um, it's just good.
00:36:38We've been here since Sunday.
00:36:39So it's nice to finally have something actually to talk about.
00:36:42And what, like, we had fireworks yesterday.
00:36:45That was, that was awesome.
00:36:46And we kind of knew it was going to be pretty cool.
00:36:47But, um, but to see Arvel Reese and, and Sonny Stiles come out and compete in the same group,
00:36:54um, after David Bailey put on a show and some other guys, it was, uh, it was a fun day.
00:37:00Uh, Todd, something that we played with, is it an exaggeration to say that Ohio State
00:37:03could have four guys in the top 10?
00:37:07No, no.
00:37:08I mean, I think it's a lock that Arvel Reese and Sonny Stiles are going.
00:37:13I think it's pretty close to a lock that Caleb Downs, the safety is going.
00:37:17And Carnell Tate would be the, the one where you, you say, well, is he at that level at
00:37:23the wide receiver position?
00:37:24My answer would be yes.
00:37:25And I think, you know, I've talked to different teams.
00:37:27Some teams actually still have Jordan Tyson as wide receiver one, not, not a lot.
00:37:32Um, the injury issues coming out of Arizona state, I think will kind of could be a tiebreaker.
00:37:37Uh, but it's really Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon and Jordan Tyson.
00:37:42And, and I would say the majority of teams I've talked to have Carnell Tate as the first
00:37:46receiver.
00:37:46So, I mean, now you start asking the question, like, could it be top seven, top eight, you
00:37:53know what I mean?
00:37:54I mean, quite honestly, there's, there's a, what's to say that, that Arvel Reese doesn't
00:38:00go to Sonny Stiles, doesn't go three.
00:38:02Caleb Downs doesn't go somewhere in the top five and maybe Carnell Tate goes eight to,
00:38:07uh, to the New Orleans, New Orleans saints.
00:38:09So there's a legitimate shot that they're in the top eight.
00:38:12And I, I feel actually, I don't know if you, if you gave me the odds right now, I'd probably
00:38:15take that, that all four guys would be gone in the top 10.
00:38:18Hey Todd, earlier in the show, we were talking about the arm length thing of Ruben Bain and
00:38:23Cassius Howell.
00:38:24I'm not a big fan of all that.
00:38:26I just say, watch the tape.
00:38:27Like what's your kind of analysis on the arm length, you know, thing, and how do you
00:38:32see those guys compete yesterday in the combine and, and things like that?
00:38:37It's tough, right?
00:38:39Because you talk to general managers and, and they've been raised in this business that
00:38:45you, you don't want a roster full of outliers.
00:38:47Right.
00:38:48Um, but some, some guys are just worth it.
00:38:51And, you know, at the, you look at kind of the interior defensive, like Aaron Donald outlier.
00:38:58Yeah.
00:38:58Even like, um, Kendrick Clancy, uh, Braden Fisk outliers.
00:39:03Right.
00:39:04Um, and so when a Peter Woods has shorter arms, you say, okay, there's, there's data, there's
00:39:11history showing that that can work.
00:39:13Then you look at, at the, the edge position and that gets a little trickier.
00:39:18I mean, quite honestly, I thought, so I watched a lot of the tape with Cassius Howell during
00:39:23the season, September, October.
00:39:24I'm like, this, this guy's, this guy's maybe top 20.
00:39:27I just love him the way he plays.
00:39:29He's tough.
00:39:29He takes on double teams.
00:39:31He fights through things.
00:39:33He's stronger in the lower body than you'd think.
00:39:35And, and he has a twitch about him and an explosiveness and a motor and some instincts
00:39:42as a pass rusher that I'm not seeing from some of these other guys that are rated really,
00:39:47really high.
00:39:48You know, David Bailey, I did, he's longer.
00:39:52He's, he's got all these traits.
00:39:54And then I watched like Derek Moore, who's got 33 plus inch arm length.
00:39:58And I think his arm length, um, he doesn't utilize his arm, arms and hands like the same
00:40:03way Cassius Howell does.
00:40:04So I'm kind of going through all of it.
00:40:06And I read that because from about November 1st on everyone I talked to in the league was
00:40:10like, yeah, no, I love them too.
00:40:11But like those arms, right?
00:40:13Yeah.
00:40:14And that's when it was, the concern was like 31 inches.
00:40:19He was actually closer to 30 inches than, than 31.
00:40:22And so it was at 30 and a quarter.
00:40:24And then he runs really well as you would expect, but he also, the, the lower body explosion
00:40:31wasn't there with the vertical and the broad jump.
00:40:33So he's going to be a tricky one, man.
00:40:35And not only like a case study in where he gets drafted, but what he winds up doing in
00:40:41the league, because it is a different league.
00:40:43Now it is a kind of a position list front seven and really a position list defense in
00:40:48some regards where you're just putting the best athletes out there and guys who can be
00:40:52versatile and do a lot of different things.
00:40:54And I can tell you this from watching the tape, I was watching it three days ago, going
00:40:57back to it because I knew this was going to be a topic he can actually cover too.
00:41:01And so he does things that a lot of those other guys can't do.
00:41:05And Ruben Bain, like, did that show up against top competition, college football playoff end
00:41:11of the season?
00:41:11Like he was, he was one of the best players in the college football playoff.
00:41:15So it's going to be a tough one.
00:41:16It's a fascinating group.
00:41:18Yeah.
00:41:18Hey Todd, this is, this is Dana here.
00:41:21I don't know if you remember me from about seven years ago.
00:41:23I interviewed you for the Barstool documentary.
00:41:26I was a lot skinnier back then, but I just wanted to ask you real quick.
00:41:31If there was one prospect yesterday that really caught your attention just in terms
00:41:35of buzz, like we know Sonny Stiles had an awesome combine.
00:41:39Is there, is there somebody that really just stuck out to you yesterday in Indy?
00:41:43Malachi Lawrence, right?
00:41:45I'm going to pull up his notes here.
00:41:46Malachi Lawrence shows up and for the UCF edge.
00:41:52And I had him, like, teetering on top 100.
00:41:55Wasn't invited to the Senior Bowl, was at the East-West Shrine game, and absolutely was
00:42:00one of the standouts there.
00:42:03Reverse back to his career.
00:42:04Starts at Louisville.
00:42:05First year, kind of getting his feet, you know, feet in the ground.
00:42:09Second year, 10 and a half sacks.
00:42:10Transfers from Louisville to UCF.
00:42:13Plays nine games in 2024.
00:42:15Kind of has a down year as he's fitting in that system.
00:42:19And then this past year, he leads the team with seven and a half sacks again.
00:42:23He came out at 6'4 and three-eighths of an inch.
00:42:28253 pounds with 33 and five-eighths inch arm length.
00:42:32And he ran the second best 40 of all the guys.
00:42:37Or second best vertical jump, I should say.
00:42:40And second best 40.
00:42:41He had a 40-inch vertical.
00:42:4210-10 broad, which was best of the edge rushers.
00:42:454'5", 240-yard dash, which was the second best.
00:42:49And a 1-5-9 in the 10-yard split.
00:42:53He's one of those guys that when you hear NFL people say,
00:42:57I've got to go back and watch more tape because you want to watch it through that lens.
00:43:00Like, now I know it's verified.
00:43:02He has one of the most complete tool sets in terms of size, length, speed, lower body explosion.
00:43:08I think Malachi Lawrence is a guy that's going to come, I would say, come out of nowhere from where
00:43:14we were about a month ago and wind up being a day-two pick.
00:43:19It's so wild with some guys like that, Todd.
00:43:22And, I mean, I always think about the classic example of, I guess because my LSU brain covering that team
00:43:27so long, like Daniil Hunter.
00:43:28There was a guy that had like four sacks in college, but then he goes, he murders a combine.
00:43:33You see what a physical freak he is.
00:43:34And it has translated to the NFL.
00:43:37He's kind of like a Josh Allen where they bet on that raw capability and then they developed him.
00:43:43Have you been able to parse in the years what maybe separates those guys, like the ones who don't have
00:43:50the stats in college,
00:43:51but they have the raw physical ability, and then that goes on to flourish in the NFL?
00:43:56Like, have you defined any traits in guys that are better NFL players than they were college, which seems crazy?
00:44:04Yeah, I remember even Shamar Stewart last year.
00:44:09I liked him more than a lot of people in the league did.
00:44:12And the people in the league that were kind of warning me about him, because his traits were unbelievable.
00:44:17Like, he kind of got overshadowed by Nicky Minwari last year, but he had one of the best combine workouts
00:44:23of anyone here a year ago.
00:44:25His tape was full of power, run stuffing, pressures, and motor, right?
00:44:34And so I'm like, man, you got all those traits.
00:44:36He's doing all the right things.
00:44:37He's in a scheme where there's other guys that were getting home as pass rushers.
00:44:42He's being asked to do, like, some gap discipline stuff.
00:44:45And so I'm hoping that in the league, utilized in a little bit different manner as he continues to develop,
00:44:50he's going to be a great player.
00:44:51Now, he had the holdout.
00:44:52He didn't have the rookie year.
00:44:54We'll see how that works out.
00:44:55But I remember the conversations, and some guys in the league that I trust are like, listen, I get it,
00:45:03and I see it, too.
00:45:05But I get so sick and tired when scouts come in and are like, yeah, but remember Daniil Hunter, and
00:45:12he could be this guy.
00:45:12Like, for every Daniil Hunter, I can give you a list of 10, 15 guys that we talked about in
00:45:19a similar vein that didn't work out.
00:45:20So it's difficult.
00:45:23You've got to really study the scheme, how they're utilized.
00:45:25I remember Trayvon Walker was the same deal, right?
00:45:28Well, he was asked to take on blocks and kind of two-gap it when he gets in the NFL,
00:45:34and he's had a really productive career.
00:45:36I don't think that they, you know, do they regret not taking Hutchinson?
00:45:40You know, that's a question you can ask John Dorsey, who now is no longer with the Jaguars.
00:45:46But he's been a really good player.
00:45:49But typically, at that position, if the production isn't there in college, don't expect it to be in the NFL.
00:45:58Okay.
00:45:59That's a very, okay, that's good to know.
00:46:00Which sucks, because, like, I like Keldrick Falk a lot from Auburn.
00:46:04Production's not there.
00:46:05Yeah.
00:46:06You know, like, there are certain guys that you see, they have everything, but there's an instinct, there's a bend,
00:46:13there's the ability to kind of adjust when the quarterback moves off the spot.
00:46:17Some guys just have it, and some guys don't.
00:46:20And there are occasionally outliers, like Daniil Hunter, who develop it over time and are utilized a little bit differently
00:46:26and kind of grow into their body and all those sorts of things.
00:46:30But more often than not, unfortunately, you either have it or you don't.
00:46:34So I want to play with that similar theme just for one more question,
00:46:38because Anthony Richardson has reentered the news cycle, and he is kind of the epitome of that type of player.
00:46:44All the physical skill set, again, in the same way you could hold up Josh Allen as the outlier,
00:46:48you could probably point to 15 guys that didn't work out that had some of those skills.
00:46:54What do you see in Richardson's future?
00:46:56There's a video going somewhat viral of, like, KOC after one of their games against him saying, you know,
00:47:02hey, believe in yourself, stick with it.
00:47:04What do you think happens to Anthony Richardson as he's given permission to seek a trade?
00:47:09I think failure is one of the great things for an athlete if it's handled properly.
00:47:18Because what failure does is it helps the maturation process.
00:47:25You've got to remember, too, in this, whether it's NIL and, like, the AAU, 7-on-7,
00:47:31but, like, fortunately and unfortunately, there's a plus-minus with all of it.
00:47:36These young men, they grow up, and all of a sudden they're 12 years old,
00:47:40and they're five inches taller than everyone, 30 pounds heavier, they're more athletic.
00:47:45And so adults see opportunity in them, okay?
00:47:51And so they start, okay, now I've got an agent when I'm 14 behind the scenes,
00:47:56one of these, like, street agents.
00:47:57And now, so I'm not having to pay for things.
00:48:00Things are kind of handed to me, and you just kind of go through this system, right?
00:48:05I remember talking to the coaches at Florida, and they loved Anthony Richardson.
00:48:10Like, he's not ready.
00:48:11Don't think, you know, I'm worried about him.
00:48:13Not in a negative, like, cutting, but, like, we love the young man.
00:48:17I hope he's going to be okay.
00:48:18And then we saw what happened in Indy.
00:48:20But I know from my own life, I know from, like, studying this for 26 years now,
00:48:25some of the, like, look at Sam Darnold.
00:48:28We have a shining example of maybe the best thing that can happen to you
00:48:32is some early failure and then a reset.
00:48:36And it's not taken away from anyone who's worked with him in Indianapolis.
00:48:40It's just some, and listen, Sam Darnold, get out of New York, right?
00:48:45Get away from the Jets.
00:48:47Baker Mayfield, get out of Cleveland.
00:48:49Get an opportunity.
00:48:50Get away from Carolina for, you know, so for both of those guys.
00:48:53But I'm hopeful that he goes to a place where he's not going to be expected to play
00:48:59and to start right away wherever he goes.
00:49:01But with both of those guys, right, whether it was KOC, Shanahan, McVay,
00:49:08like, I hope he gets to a place where, as a backup, he gets to learn, reset.
00:49:13There's no expectation.
00:49:15There's no forcing him in right away.
00:49:19And he can sit back and actually learn how to do it without all the negativity
00:49:23that's been surrounding him.
00:49:25Because my goodness, man, like, he might be the most physically gifted quarterback
00:49:29in the NFL.
00:49:30But hopefully he's matured a lot in the last couple of years.
00:49:34Todd, as we look forward to the position groups competing today in the combine,
00:49:38like, are there, like, three, four guys that you're most excited about to watch
00:49:42and to evaluate today?
00:49:45What do we get, the tight ends and the defensive backs?
00:49:48Yeah, tight end DBs today.
00:49:50Unfortunately, Jermon McCoy, who's the most gifted cornerback,
00:49:53you go back to the 2024 tape at Tennessee, he's not working out again.
00:49:58And it's like, all right, so when are we going to compete, bud?
00:50:01You know, like, there was talk of him coming back for the season.
00:50:04That never happened.
00:50:05And I'm not, you know, the injuries are the injuries.
00:50:08And then there was talk of him going to the senior bowl and turning that down.
00:50:12And now he's not working out here.
00:50:14So that puts a lot of pressure on him in his pro day.
00:50:18Mansour Delane, one of the most fun defensive backs to evaluate
00:50:22because I don't know that there's a smarter cornerback in this draft.
00:50:27He can play man coverage, press.
00:50:28He can play off.
00:50:29He can play zone.
00:50:30His eyes are always working.
00:50:32But the question is, can he run a number where you're like, yeah,
00:50:35we can take him in the top 12?
00:50:37You know, you got, I think it's Miami at 11, Dallas at 12,
00:50:40both with cornerback needs.
00:50:41So that's going to be an important workout.
00:50:43And cornerback more than probably any other position.
00:50:46Give me that arm length and that 40 time, right?
00:50:50Safety, Caleb Downs.
00:50:52Yeah.
00:50:53Like, generational football player.
00:50:56Yeah.
00:50:57Not generational tester is what you kind of see and what the reports are.
00:51:02Can he get in the four fours and kind of put that to rest?
00:51:05Because he's not, you know, Nicky Minwari comes out last year and has this
00:51:09record-setting performance.
00:51:10It's not going to be that.
00:51:12But are they numbers where it's like, oh, he's really good.
00:51:15Malachi Starks came out and didn't have a very good workout last year, right?
00:51:19Coming out of Georgia.
00:51:20Gets drafted by Baltimore.
00:51:22Has a really good rookie year.
00:51:23He's just a damn good football player.
00:51:25I think Caleb Downs is like two notches up for Malachi Starks.
00:51:29So, that's going to be exciting to watch.
00:51:31The tight ends, Eli Stowers.
00:51:34Watch his workout today.
00:51:36Undersized.
00:51:37He's going to be in the low 240s, around 6'3".
00:51:40I'm told that he's going to do some special things.
00:51:43We also had Scott Goldberg on from AIQ.
00:51:47Talked about him.
00:51:48They have predicted some of the top guys in terms of the intelligence and reaction skills.
00:51:54He says that Stowers is on that short list with, like, Arvel Reese and some other guys.
00:51:58So, I'm excited to see what Stowers does.
00:52:00In a year where we have Kenyon Sadiq, and he's going to have an awesome workout coming out of Oregon.
00:52:04And then there's a bunch of other guys at the tight end position.
00:52:08I think Stowers and Max Clare from Ohio State have an opportunity, if they work out well,
00:52:12to kind of solidify that, like, second tier of tight ends in day two of the draft.
00:52:17So, Todd, we're not going to get another chance to talk to you before they all get out there on
00:52:21the field.
00:52:22And so, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask about the best or the most important position in all football.
00:52:27That's quarterback.
00:52:28Fernando Mendoza, not going to do on-the-field workouts here.
00:52:30He's going to save that for pro day.
00:52:32And this is a quarterback class that is wide open, right?
00:52:36Really, only Ty Simpson, as I understand it right now, being projected as a potential first-rounder.
00:52:41Are there any quarterbacks that you're looking for this weekend that could make some serious moves
00:52:46and maybe up their stock?
00:52:49I do think it's a big week for Ty Simpson.
00:52:52I promise you this.
00:52:53Conversations I'm having with people in the league, and I've been saying this since late October.
00:52:57There was not a better quarterback in the country than Ty Simpson through nine games.
00:53:01He winds up getting gastritis.
00:53:03He's getting beat up, like, relentlessly.
00:53:07He, Alabama has, like, the 126 rushing attack in the FBS.
00:53:12Brent Venables at Oklahoma kind of figures out how to defeat some of their pass protection schemes.
00:53:18His number one wide receiver superstar, Ryan Williams, just poof, disappeared.
00:53:22Yeah.
00:53:22So, like, we saw the decline, and excuses don't matter, but when he's at 190 and beat up in the
00:53:30Rose Bowl,
00:53:31and we see that, it's hard to say, well, that's Ty Simpson.
00:53:35Because the Ty Simpson I know is the guy who was NFL, you know, NFL system, pre-snap, on schedule,
00:53:42just handling everything from an NFL standpoint.
00:53:45There are a lot of people in the league who are still questioning, despite the 15 starts,
00:53:50despite that he's not 6'5", 220, like Fernando Mendoza.
00:53:54He's got a good arm, not elite.
00:53:56He's got some mobility, not elite, obviously.
00:53:59There are some guys in the league that really think Ty Simpson's tape is just better.
00:54:03And so now it's from 190 at the Rose Bowl, is he 210 again?
00:54:08Does he look healthy?
00:54:10Get him out there at 100%, throwing the ball with everybody else who's out there.
00:54:14Does he separate himself?
00:54:16I don't put a lot of stock into the workouts, but when it comes to a guy that we,
00:54:20at the end of the season, we didn't see at full strength,
00:54:22I think this will be an important stepping stone for him.
00:54:25The other guy you've got to watch.
00:54:27I'm fascinated by him.
00:54:29I actually was kind of correlating it to Portnoy growing up, right?
00:54:33Cole Payton.
00:54:35I turn on the tape of this Cole Payton guy, who's basically like a Tebow slash fullback his first three
00:54:42years.
00:54:42Remember Tebow's role that freshman year?
00:54:45I think it was Chris Leak, right?
00:54:46Yeah, yeah, it was Chris Leak.
00:54:47Yeah, the short yardage, goal line, just like kind of a packet.
00:54:51That's who he was for three years at North Dakota State.
00:54:54But I'm looking at his rushing and his numbers, and it's like, but he's a massive part of their offense.
00:55:00Then he finally gets a starting job, and I'm watching his tape initially, and I'm like, oh, great.
00:55:05He's a lefty.
00:55:06He's got this, like, stiff, awkward upper body.
00:55:09He doesn't, like, the motion doesn't look right.
00:55:11But then I'm charting his games, and it's like, just hitting spots.
00:55:18Guys hanging from him off platform, off balance, racing around, and every ball is just, like, right here.
00:55:25He gets to the senior bowl.
00:55:26He had thumb surgery on his throwing hand.
00:55:28And, like, a few weeks later, it's kind of like the, you know, the not national news story of John
00:55:35Mateer.
00:55:36He's out there just drilling strikes.
00:55:37So, I'm excited for the nation to get to see Cole Payton.
00:55:41I think in a quarterback class, there's not a lot of great names.
00:55:44We know it's going to be Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson.
00:55:47Then it's going to be kind of Carson Beck, Garrett Nussmeyer.
00:55:50I think Cole Payton could be a guy who sneaks into day two of the draft because teams have a
00:55:54vision of he can do some things early in his career.
00:55:57Short yardage, goal line, all of that.
00:55:59We can have, like, a Taysom Hill-type package, and let's see if we can develop him because there's a
00:56:04lot here to work with.
00:56:05Todd, real quick, I'm going back to Massachusetts this weekend.
00:56:09I'm a South Shore guy.
00:56:10Non-football question.
00:56:12I need one beef spot on the North Shore because I'm doing this series where I try new things, and
00:56:18I have never had a North Shore beef.
00:56:19Oh, wow.
00:56:20I just need one spot.
00:56:22I've been stuck.
00:56:24So, I had an office in Stoneham, and I used to go to King's there.
00:56:27Okay.
00:56:28Minos up in my area is a good place to check out, okay?
00:56:33Okay.
00:56:34Honestly, I hate to say it, especially with Steve Mench as my cohort, like, you want to kind of get
00:56:39to the Andover-Peabody area.
00:56:41Okay.
00:56:41They have kind of taken over and taken great pride in the beef places, and it's a drive from Swampscott.
00:56:50I'm sure.
00:56:51We're, like, packing up 30 minutes, got to get up there, but it's worth it.
00:56:55Okay.
00:56:56I mean, I had offices up in Andover for a while, so there's a few places up there.
00:57:01I've been relegated to, like, Brothers Roast Beef in Quincy.
00:57:08Like, that's the clue, because I'm in the South Shore now.
00:57:10Yeah.
00:57:10Getting over, like, past the city is just a nightmare, but I'll sneak up there every once in a while
00:57:15because I'll have a craving.
00:57:17I actually, I don't trust the folks in the South Shore.
00:57:21You shouldn't.
00:57:23We're bar pie.
00:57:24That's what we do.
00:57:25Yeah, the bar pizza stuff is cute, and there's some really good ones, but I don't trust that they would
00:57:30appreciate it.
00:57:31But I promise you, I'm still thinking about investing in just a little shop.
00:57:37We're not even going to do the subs and all that.
00:57:39Like, I'm going to hire a couple, like, that know how to shave it perfectly, right?
00:57:43I love food, Tom.
00:57:44Freeway sauce.
00:57:46And it's an art.
00:57:47It's an art.
00:57:48Yeah.
00:57:48But if I can get the right people, and I just want, like, a little, tiny shop where you come
00:57:53in and get, but the problem is, I know it will be unbelievable beef, but do people, like, and they're
00:57:59my people.
00:58:00They're, like, the Irish people.
00:58:01I'm McShay.
00:58:02I get it.
00:58:03There's just not this passion, like, up in the North Shore for food, so I think it could be a
00:58:08failing business, but I still might try it.
00:58:11Worth a shot.
00:58:12There's so much passion behind this food, Tom.
00:58:14Well, this is the thing.
00:58:14I love Todd's breakdown.
00:58:16You've got to understand.
00:58:17I already think, because I land in Logan on Sunday, can I make a quick swing around and come down
00:58:24and have a beef on the drive down?
00:58:25Maybe I'll see you there.
00:58:26Who knows?
00:58:27Todd, thank you so much.
00:58:28Look, we've kept you so long.
00:58:30I know you're incredibly busy right now.
00:58:32Host the McShay Show.
00:58:33Watch it on Netflix, anywhere you get podcasts.
00:58:35Todd, you're the man, dude.
00:58:36Have a great day in Indy today.
00:58:38Appreciate you guys.
00:58:39We'll talk soon.
00:58:39And look, whenever you need to push the beef company.
00:58:42Yep.
00:58:42We're here.
00:58:43We're here, guys.
00:58:44BBC.
00:58:45All right.
00:58:46We've got plenty more Wake Up Barstool coming up on the other side.
00:58:48Don't go anywhere, guys.
00:58:49We've got Smasher Pass and NBA MVP.
00:58:51Woo!
00:58:56Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool, guys.
00:58:58We've still got our skilled special parlay coming up.
00:59:00We've got Smasher Pass Head-to-Head Edition, where we're going to put two beloved foods next to each other,
00:59:07and we've got to smash one and pass one.
00:59:08This one's going to challenge us a bit more than our fat asses normally just saying smash on every single
00:59:13food that they put on the screen.
00:59:15So, I think it's a good evolution of the game here, guys.
00:59:20Speaking of evolution of the game, it's time to talk some NBA with Professor Dana Beers.
00:59:26And imagine this, guys.
00:59:29NBA MVP debate is back, and it's SGA and Jokic once again, Dana.
00:59:35It is, man.
00:59:36And listen, the whole...
00:59:38So, did you know this, Michael?
00:59:4065 games you have to play.
00:59:42Yeah.
00:59:43I love that rule.
00:59:43I do, too.
00:59:44I love that rule.
00:59:45Jokic, the only reason he would ever not be eligible would not be at his own accord.
00:59:52It's because he's actually injured.
00:59:53Some of these other guys, they sit out a lot of games.
00:59:56I saw an interesting article that the 65-game thing has, in some ways, almost had an inverse effect
01:00:04because guys are sitting out games where they don't have to just knowing, like, okay, all I've got to do
01:00:10is hit the 65.
01:00:11It's a weird, like, it's weird because guys like Jokic and SGA have legitimate injuries that might affect, you know,
01:00:20their all-NBA teams and MVP.
01:00:22But, to me, the answer is Jokic.
01:00:26When you really break that, like, this is a classic conversation of talk about valuable.
01:00:31Yeah.
01:00:32What does valuable actually mean?
01:00:34If the Thunder lost SGA, which they did right now, they're still fine.
01:00:40They have plenty of guys that can step in and help them to win ballgames.
01:00:45If the Nuggets lose Jokic, I know they had an okay record when he was out.
01:00:50He is far and away.
01:00:52He is the, he's everything to their offense.
01:00:55He is the guy that makes the motor go.
01:00:59So, without him, in a playoff series, they don't win.
01:01:02Has Jokic reached, like, the Michael Jordan level or maybe some, you could have put Shaq in this for a
01:01:12bit where it's like, he's so dominant that he kind of could be MVP clearly every single season.
01:01:18And so, you almost end up going away from him because of that.
01:01:21It's like motor fatigue.
01:01:23Like something new.
01:01:23Yeah.
01:01:24I think that's how LeBron was.
01:01:26Yeah, sorry.
01:01:26That was the ultimate example.
01:01:28Beyond Michaels, LeBron.
01:01:29Yes, because he reached that.
01:01:30Yeah.
01:01:31You could definitely say, like, you could say he should have won last year.
01:01:34He should have won a couple times in the last six, seven years.
01:01:40But, yeah, to me, if you take him off that team, like I said, I know they've, you know, they've
01:01:45held water.
01:01:46But long term, it's not sustainable.
01:01:49And I think in terms of just value, he's the guy.
01:01:52Now, what about one of your guys, Jalen Brown?
01:01:55No Tatum this year.
01:01:56Celtics still awesome.
01:01:57Jalen Brown stepping into that void.
01:01:59He's kicking ass.
01:02:00I won't even do a whose team is it debate.
01:02:02Right.
01:02:02Should Jalen Brown be getting more consideration?
01:02:04I would say right now he's probably on the fringe of, like, the top five or six.
01:02:09You know, there's Cade Cunningham who's ahead of him.
01:02:11I would say Victor Wemenyama is also ahead of him.
01:02:14And then it's probably Jalen Brown or Luka Doncic.
01:02:17To me, it's Jalen Brown just because this was supposed to be a gap year.
01:02:20Everyone said this is going to be a year where they tank pretty much.
01:02:24And they're the two seed.
01:02:25And they're playing extremely well.
01:02:28They've won nine of their last 11 games.
01:02:30Yeah, he should definitely be getting some MVP consideration.
01:02:33I mean, look at the 2016 Celtics.
01:02:36Isaiah Thomas was a top five guy.
01:02:38If he gets that consideration on a team that wasn't nearly as talented, Jalen Brown should as well.
01:02:46So, yeah.
01:02:46Now, what about this?
01:02:47So, in college basketball, and everybody should listen to Mostly Hoops, guys.
01:02:50Check out Mostly Hoops now three times.
01:02:51Please do.
01:02:52In college basketball, incredible freshman class.
01:02:55Looks like an incredible rookie class next season.
01:02:57But how about the rookies this year?
01:02:59I mean, we've talked about Cooper Flagg a lot on this show.
01:03:01We haven't talked a ton of Con Knipple.
01:03:03No.
01:03:03Just setting a rookie record.
01:03:04Already 207 threes.
01:03:07Yeah.
01:03:07To start his career.
01:03:08He's just one of those guys that you would...
01:03:12The Hornets, what they did in this draft is they...
01:03:15This past draft, they got Knipple.
01:03:17They got this guy, Sion James from Duke.
01:03:19They got Liam McNeely from UConn.
01:03:22They picked a bunch of dudes that you could just...
01:03:25The safe pick, right?
01:03:27A lot of these guys in the NBA now, these high draft picks are based off potential and athleticism.
01:03:33Con Knipple was a guy that's like, okay, he's going to come in there and you know what you're going
01:03:37to get from him.
01:03:38I don't think anybody expected this, but he's just one of those dudes that you can build around.
01:03:43So, I'm really, you know, what's that word?
01:03:47Bullish.
01:03:48Yeah.
01:03:48I'm very bullish on the Hornets and their future.
01:03:50Never heard of that in my life.
01:03:51You know why?
01:03:52Stock market.
01:03:53Bull, bear.
01:03:54Bulls swipe up.
01:03:55Bears swipe down.
01:03:57So, it's bullish.
01:03:57Up.
01:03:58He thinks it's going to go up.
01:03:59Likes it.
01:04:02All right.
01:04:03Speaking of college basketball, let's welcome in Lofonzo Ellis.
01:04:07How's it going on, man?
01:04:08How we doing today, babe?
01:04:10Morning, fellas.
01:04:11How you guys doing this morning?
01:04:12Doing very well.
01:04:13So, let's just...
01:04:15Okay, I'm 37.
01:04:16Okay?
01:04:16I remember watching you rep.
01:04:18This guy next to me, he's like 24.
01:04:20He's 24.
01:04:2125.
01:04:22So, we got to educate our guy a little bit, guys.
01:04:24Roll the tape.
01:04:26Lofonzo is maybe the greatest block you'll ever see in your entire life here, Kaden.
01:04:31Snatch it out the air, dude.
01:04:34With Mutombo right by him, looking on.
01:04:38Yeah, and if you roll that on a little further, you'll see Dikembe Mutombo with his signature finger waggon.
01:04:43The finger waggon.
01:04:44Bro, how did that feel?
01:04:45I mean, you play your entire life, and you never come up with a play like that.
01:04:50Well, as a help defender, you just react, and so you're not thinking.
01:04:54One of my roles was to defend the rim, and just saw him coming in and just jumped and hoped
01:05:00that I would block it and not get embarrassed.
01:05:02And so, I was fortunate to be able to come up with that one.
01:05:05But, man, what a great moment in time.
01:05:06And that was Brian Davis, who played at Duke.
01:05:09And that was a little bit of payback, because I was 0-4 against Duke when I was in college
01:05:12against Christian Laettner in that group who won two national titles.
01:05:16So, I've had a little bit of justification there.
01:05:18I mean, just ultimate disrespect.
01:05:20That was awesome, man.
01:05:21Also, awesome right now, I mean, college basketball.
01:05:25The ratings are through the roof.
01:05:26Freshman class is incredible.
01:05:28The overall quality's gone up, I think, because of NIL, transfer portal, retaining talent.
01:05:33And so, there's a lot to break down.
01:05:34Brian, I want to start asking you about a Purdue team.
01:05:37So, Michigan State beats Purdue last night.
01:05:40Purdue is a team that's always very highly ranked preseason.
01:05:43They're very good.
01:05:44Yes.
01:05:45But nobody trusts them.
01:05:46And it does feel like they face playing a lot on the big stages.
01:05:49Is this Purdue team different?
01:05:52This Purdue team is not different.
01:05:54Okay.
01:05:55It's a very talented team, very balanced.
01:05:56Let's go.
01:05:56Shoot it.
01:05:57And the issue with this team continues to be, even in the Zach Edy year when they went to the
01:06:03finals,
01:06:03the difficulty to have against perimeter players who are good off the dribble and can get to the rack,
01:06:11remember, that was Keaton Weigler that went into Mackey and had over 40 points.
01:06:15So, if you look at their trend over the last 10, 15 games or so,
01:06:20the teams that they've had the most struggles against, and really over the last two or three years,
01:06:24is anyone who has a dynamic perimeter player, Purdue tends to struggle with because they don't have,
01:06:30last year and this year, they don't have that guy out on the perimeter who can play out in space,
01:06:36defend their guy, keep that guy out of the lane.
01:06:38And as we said earlier, Keaton Weigler is a great example of that.
01:06:43As T-Bob just said, it's been an awesome, awesome year in college basketball.
01:06:47It just seems like the top, especially the top teams, have just been incredible.
01:06:52One week it's Arizona.
01:06:54Another week it's Michigan.
01:06:55Now it's Duke.
01:06:56That's Duke, yeah.
01:06:57You really, it's tough to keep a track on really who is the best team in the nation.
01:07:02To you right now, would you say it's Duke?
01:07:05Would you say it's Michigan?
01:07:06What are your thoughts on that?
01:07:08I still think that Michigan has the best front line in the country,
01:07:13and it's without a question.
01:07:16DiMara at 7-3.
01:07:17Any mistakes that are made out in the perimeter and guys able to get to the rack,
01:07:20he erases all of that.
01:07:22He has one through five switchability, late shot clock situations can keep guys in front.
01:07:27And that's the same for Morris Johnson.
01:07:29That's the same for Yaxo Lindenborg.
01:07:31That's the same for Will Shetter when he comes off the bench.
01:07:34They're dynamic in their front court.
01:07:37But I still, right now, and what I'm seeing with Duke is they have that nice balance.
01:07:43Cam Boozer is running away with the national player of the year.
01:07:46I mean, there's really no conversation about that anymore.
01:07:49But the perimeter shooting, the switchability defensively, I just think this team plays with
01:07:55the great edge, and they do it one through nine.
01:07:59And I think that's what separates them.
01:08:01Could they have a challenge with a team like Arizona, who doesn't shoot a lot of threes?
01:08:05They play more inside out, screen and roll through their bigs?
01:08:09Yes.
01:08:09But I like the dynamic play from the perimeter, particularly of this year's Duke team.
01:08:15And we've talked about it before.
01:08:17Cam Boozer, to me, it's interesting.
01:08:19I think guys like A.J. DeMansa, I think Cam Wilson from North Carolina, I think those guys
01:08:26have higher upsides in terms of their NBA prospects.
01:08:30But in terms of college basketball, there's been no one more dominant than Cam Boozer.
01:08:35He's had a phenomenal year for Duke.
01:08:38Well, LaFontz, I want to be clear about this.
01:08:39It was not our choice here on the panel to run the Duke-Notre Dame highlights.
01:08:45So if you have any issue with that, as an Irish alum, you can blame our excellent producers
01:08:50that you've been talking to.
01:08:53Let's talk Houston.
01:08:54Another tough team, to your point.
01:08:55I'm peeing it right now.
01:09:00But Houston, they're incredible.
01:09:03Kind of maybe struggled that late, but they know it's against the best teams in the entire
01:09:05country.
01:09:06The defense remains their calling card, remains elite.
01:09:10Where's your belief in Kelvin Sampson and his crew going into March right now?
01:09:14After some struggles.
01:09:15This team is taking some licks.
01:09:17And I felt they don't have an interior presence.
01:09:20And that's what's separated them in the past.
01:09:23And I think this year, that's what's going to keep them from getting to a Final Four, possibly
01:09:27even an Elite Eight.
01:09:29I mean, you talk about from the perimeter, Kingston Fleming can flat out stick it and take over
01:09:34a game.
01:09:35JoJo Tuggler, of course, is their reliable defensive big.
01:09:38But outside of those two guys, and Senac has done a really nice job, but he's more of
01:09:43a jump shooting big at 6'11".
01:09:45They don't have an interior guy that they can give it to that can give them buckets.
01:09:49And so now you're putting all that pressure on your perimeter guys to be able to make
01:09:53shots.
01:09:54And they aren't as good on the offensive glass as they've been in the past.
01:09:57So when they're getting up those threes and they're missing them in the past, they were
01:10:01getting almost 40% of their misses.
01:10:03They don't have that capability this year.
01:10:05So it makes them one-dimensional.
01:10:06And if they're not making three-point shots, which they did not do against Kansas, it makes
01:10:11them very vulnerable.
01:10:11So I see this team, maybe their ceiling being a Sweet 16 because of the lack of an interior
01:10:17presence.
01:10:18Speaking of Kansas, it feels like everybody has an opinion on Darren Peterson.
01:10:22I've been on a college basketball show here, and I've been hard on them, okay?
01:10:31Because I'm just a fan of good basketball.
01:10:34I'm a fan of seeing elite talent be their best.
01:10:37Now, I don't know what's going on.
01:10:39I don't know if it's something to do with his agent, if he's actually hurt, if he just
01:10:43wants to be ready for the NBA.
01:10:44It feels like everyone has an opinion.
01:10:46But to me, like I said, I'm just a fan of good basketball.
01:10:49So I want to see him play 40 minutes a game.
01:10:52Yes.
01:10:52What are your thoughts on what's going on with Darren Peterson?
01:10:55We all, we all, nobody knows what's actually happening, but what would you say?
01:11:00We just don't know.
01:11:01And of course, I've asked Coach Self on a couple of occasions, Coach, what's going on
01:11:05there?
01:11:06And he just got to give that smile.
01:11:08He's like, Fonz, when he's ready and available, we're certainly going to play him.
01:11:11But when he's not, we got to keep charging forward.
01:11:14I think what happens long term, I think it starts to erode just mentally the approach to
01:11:19the team because they're saying, dude, are you going to play tonight?
01:11:24And then when you do play, are you going to play a full 30, 35 minutes for us?
01:11:28But I think for Kansas to be where they are, I think is remarkable because most guys would
01:11:34like, look, this guy, especially today, this guy's the highest paid player on our team.
01:11:38He's not showing up for us.
01:11:40He's coming up with some weird cramps.
01:11:42And then he goes for 20 in the first half.
01:11:44But we think we're going to have him for the second half.
01:11:46He's not there.
01:11:47And it creates a level of dysfunction.
01:11:51I think it erodes the overall morale of the team.
01:11:55So it's going to be interesting to see how deep of a run this Kansas team can make.
01:11:59But make no mistake about it, this is an awesome defensive team.
01:12:03Badunga does a great job on the defensive end of erasing any mistakes that they make out
01:12:08on the perimeter.
01:12:08He's an excellent screen and roll guy, gets on the offensive glass.
01:12:12The guy who I think is an X factor for them going forward is Tiller.
01:12:17The freshman, 6'9", 6'10", can shoot it from the outside.
01:12:20He posts.
01:12:21He's got a mature body, built more like a junior or a senior.
01:12:24So if they can get good play from those two guys on the interior to complement what they're
01:12:29doing with White and those guys on the outside, then I still think this team can get to a
01:12:35Sweet 16 and be very dangerous, with or without him.
01:12:39Fonz, what about this?
01:12:40Chris, I'm going to ask you just a very general, very sports talky question here.
01:12:44Under the radar team, going on.
01:12:46I feel pressure.
01:12:47We talked a lot.
01:12:47We talked about a lot of the big guys.
01:12:49We talked a lot about the big names, the big guys.
01:12:52You called some of the big ones last week.
01:12:54You're called BYU tomorrow.
01:12:55But what's a team that you think is going to kind of come out of nowhere here next month?
01:13:00I don't know if they'll necessarily come out of nowhere.
01:13:02I just don't think that they're necessarily getting any national praise.
01:13:07And I think that's Illinois.
01:13:08Illinois is very, very dangerous.
01:13:09They're the tallest team in all of college basketball.
01:13:12They shoot the three really well.
01:13:14We talked about Wagler earlier.
01:13:16But Colin Boswell, their best perimeter defender, and probably their best two-way player is back.
01:13:21They race you at the rim with the Ivesitz brothers, who can also shoot threes.
01:13:26They're dynamic on the perimeter.
01:13:28They play fast.
01:13:29And they have the ability, unlike Houston, when they are missing, to get to the offensive glass.
01:13:35And as the NCAA tournament looms, you've got to be able to play both speeds.
01:13:40Can you play fast?
01:13:41Or when it slows down, can you play a possession game?
01:13:45This Illinois team can do both, and they are incredibly dangerous.
01:13:48But it's because of their guard play primarily with Boswell and Wagler.
01:13:52But, man, they can space you and shoot that rock.
01:13:55And I just love the way that this team can play at two speeds.
01:13:59They defend you.
01:14:00They shoot it.
01:14:01And, man, you need to have shot makers in the NCAA tournament.
01:14:05And when you have a guy like Wagler at 6'6", who can create his own and create for others,
01:14:09puts you in a really good spot.
01:14:11So there you go, guys.
01:14:12You want to watch Wagler.
01:14:13You want to watch the Illinois team.
01:14:14That's tonight on Fox.
01:14:17And then coming up tomorrow, you want to watch A.J.?
01:14:20You want to watch Fonz on the call?
01:14:21That's going to be 5.30 on Fox.
01:14:23Hey, have a great call this weekend, man.
01:14:25This is awesome.
01:14:26Again, I grew up watching you.
01:14:28This is awesome.
01:14:30Thank you so much, man.
01:14:31You made me feel old, though.
01:14:32You could be my kid.
01:14:34That's true, my man.
01:14:35That's on me.
01:14:36That's on me.
01:14:37Fonzio Ellis, he's the man.
01:14:38Thank you so much, brother.
01:14:39Thanks for having me.
01:14:40All right.
01:14:41Coming up next, Smash Your Pass, Head-to-Head Edition.
01:14:44As we'll do some food combat.
01:14:49That kind of died on the mind.
01:14:51Food.
01:14:52Dude, I felt so good.
01:14:56What's happening, y'all?
01:14:57Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
01:14:59Hey, guys.
01:14:59We're all pretty fat here, and so we all love food.
01:15:03Very fat.
01:15:04Listen to the Barstool Big Boys Club, BBC.
01:15:07So let's do Smash Your Pass differently, though, this, guys.
01:15:11I did cheat a little bit.
01:15:13You saw the match-ups?
01:15:14Oh, a couple.
01:15:15Okay, that's fine.
01:15:16Head-to-Head Edition, though.
01:15:17So we have to smash one, pass one.
01:15:19Light it up.
01:15:20It's going to be tough.
01:15:21It's going to be tough.
01:15:22Really tough.
01:15:22We're going to be slaughtering some sacred cows.
01:15:25And here we go.
01:15:26Speaking of cows.
01:15:27Ribeye.
01:15:27New York Trippers, ribeye steak.
01:15:28I'm smashing the ribeye.
01:15:30Ribeye.
01:15:30I'm a ribeye guy.
01:15:31Yeah.
01:15:32You guys are going to be mad at me.
01:15:34That's fine, dude.
01:15:35We're going to go New York school.
01:15:35That's fine.
01:15:36That's fine.
01:15:37Wow.
01:15:37What a fancy laugh.
01:15:38I don't love the big old bone.
01:15:40What?
01:15:41I don't love it.
01:15:42A bone-in ribeye?
01:15:43The extra fat?
01:15:44The extra flavor?
01:15:45Ooh, the caramelized fat.
01:15:46I like to just sit there.
01:15:47I like to take the bone home and then just gnaw on it while I watch TV later in the
01:15:51night.
01:15:52Nope.
01:15:52Give me the New York strip.
01:15:53My dog's looking at me and I'm like, sorry, I can't give this to you because you'll have
01:15:57bone charts in your stomach.
01:15:58I'm like a steak tonight.
01:16:00Waffles versus pancakes.
01:16:01Waffles.
01:16:01I think pancakes are so overrated.
01:16:03I think they're trash.
01:16:05They're wrong.
01:16:05Waffles are so good.
01:16:07The way the syrup just seeps in these little pockets.
01:16:11Have you ever?
01:16:12You about to swear?
01:16:13You about to swear?
01:16:14Yeah.
01:16:15So excited on waffles.
01:16:16Just all the butter and the little pockets.
01:16:18It is the pockets.
01:16:19It's the pockets that's here.
01:16:21Oh.
01:16:21No, look.
01:16:22Pancakes are great, too.
01:16:23I'm not with Mikey.
01:16:24I kind of agree more with probably Hannah Montoya's take recently, which is that there's
01:16:27no such thing as a bad pancake.
01:16:31Like, whatever.
01:16:31Even a bad pancake's okay.
01:16:33But yeah, waffles, dude.
01:16:34Because you can just load down the individual.
01:16:35You ever had an Oreo pancake?
01:16:37Woo!
01:16:37No.
01:16:38Waffles are clear.
01:16:39Okay, so are we waffles across the board here?
01:16:41Waffles.
01:16:41Okay.
01:16:42Shout out waffles.
01:16:43I'm making waffles.
01:16:44Old-fashioned or a dirty matata?
01:16:46Okay.
01:16:47Dirty!
01:16:48I am loyal to my old-fashioned because I enjoy whiskey a lot.
01:16:53But because I've been hanging out with him, because we've been going to dinners with the
01:16:57Live Bet lads.
01:16:58Dirty!
01:16:59And we've been getting so many olives.
01:17:01I've been starting to lean more dirty martini.
01:17:04This is actually almost a pass on both for me.
01:17:06So I'll see.
01:17:07I'll go with you.
01:17:08Hey guys, let's throw up L's in the chat for T-Bob.
01:17:12I'll go dirty martini.
01:17:13Here's what I'll say about old-fashioned.
01:17:15Old-fashioned is every young boy's drink that he wants to start drinking when he starts
01:17:20to think of himself as a man.
01:17:22That's fair.
01:17:22And you're like, I drink old-fashions now.
01:17:24That was me in college.
01:17:26Like, they're too sweet.
01:17:28Dirties just make me all...
01:17:29Even a good one's too sweet.
01:17:31Give me whiskey on the rocks.
01:17:32And you need a lot more old-fashions compared to dirty martinis.
01:17:36Like, if I drink four old-fashions and four dirty martinis, I'm going to be way more...
01:17:41Whoa.
01:17:42Inebriated.
01:17:43Yes.
01:17:44Responsibly.
01:17:45Responsibly.
01:17:45Yes, responsibly with the dirty martini.
01:17:47All right.
01:17:48Dirty martini with the upset there, guys.
01:17:50No, I'm still old-fashioned.
01:17:51Oh, how can you do this to me?
01:17:53I'm still old-fashioned.
01:17:53Wait, wait.
01:17:54You're still smashing old-fashioned?
01:17:56Oh, okay.
01:17:56Sorry.
01:17:56This is...
01:17:57Sausage versus bacon.
01:17:59Okay.
01:17:59I'm going to go opposite.
01:18:00I think a lot of people here...
01:18:01This is an easy smash.
01:18:02I know where you're going.
01:18:03Sausage.
01:18:03I love sausage, dude.
01:18:05I know you do.
01:18:07But, I will say, there are different avenues for the sausage.
01:18:10You got the patty.
01:18:11You got the link.
01:18:12Like, I love a good, crispy, burnt, almost, sausage patty.
01:18:17Yeah.
01:18:18But, just for everyday use, if I wanted something, I'm going bacon.
01:18:22Smash it.
01:18:23Quick and easy bacon.
01:18:24Wow.
01:18:24Okay.
01:18:25I'm in the...
01:18:25I knew I'd be in the minority.
01:18:26I've just always been a sausage guy.
01:18:28A thick cut...
01:18:28Like, you ever get, like, a big sausage pizza?
01:18:31I had this...
01:18:32I once had this, like, super tall, bald guy show up with my big sausage.
01:18:35Sausage pizza.
01:18:36What kind of...
01:18:36And then I opened the box, and I was shocked.
01:18:39What kind of...
01:18:39Like, the little crumbles?
01:18:40I like the little...
01:18:41I like sausage and all it's for.
01:18:43Okay.
01:18:43Like, a thick link.
01:18:44Like you said, a slim patty.
01:18:46Okay, yeah.
01:18:46Crumbles, Italian.
01:18:48See, now this...
01:18:50I think it's chicken noodle.
01:18:52It is.
01:18:53Tomato soup, you can get a bad tomato soup, though.
01:18:56Yeah, yes.
01:18:56I agree.
01:18:57You can get a bad tomato soup.
01:18:59Yep.
01:18:59Chicken noodle is...
01:19:00It's trustworthy.
01:19:02Yeah, but it's too boring.
01:19:03Give me tomato soup.
01:19:04All right, I'm a sausage and chicken noodle.
01:19:05A good tomato soup's better than a good chicken noodle.
01:19:07I'll give you that.
01:19:07Yeah, that's...
01:19:08I think that's where my head goes.
01:19:09I think...
01:19:10Chicken noodle's good when you're sick for a reason, because it's kind of relatively
01:19:15inoffensive.
01:19:15Right.
01:19:16And it warms you, and it feels...
01:19:17Chicken nudes.
01:19:18No, tomato.
01:19:19You're wrong.
01:19:21Spaghetti.
01:19:22Spaghetti...
01:19:22Yeah, Spaghetti.
01:19:23Spaghetti.
01:19:23No way, dude.
01:19:24A good meaty Lezag now?
01:19:26Dude, you're disagreeing with all of us.
01:19:28I know.
01:19:29Well, I mean, look at the outfits here, guys.
01:19:32I'm not surprised.
01:19:33That's what I grew up on.
01:19:34Spaghetti and Meatballs clear.
01:19:35That right side of the screen is what I grew up on, boys.
01:19:38Spaghetti and Meatballs clear.
01:19:39No, dude.
01:19:39Are you...
01:19:40Look at that perfectly layered Lezag.
01:19:43Yeah, but it gets better.
01:19:44It can get so messy, and you just...
01:19:46Oh, I get messy.
01:19:48I move in silence.
01:19:49And it's like, geez, moving silence in lasagna.
01:19:52Give me the meatballs.
01:19:53That didn't make any sense.
01:19:54Bites.
01:19:55See, now this.
01:19:56Bites.
01:19:57Bagel bites.
01:19:58Bagel bites.
01:19:59Bites.
01:20:00We're not even close.
01:20:00I once campaigned for student office in seventh grade with my core...
01:20:05A cornerstone of my campaign being more bagel pizzas.
01:20:09You're gonna be...
01:20:10In the cafeteria.
01:20:11I'm gonna be so mad at you.
01:20:12Don't even do this to me.
01:20:13Dude.
01:20:14Uh-oh.
01:20:14Guys, break up.
01:20:15I know what he's gonna do.
01:20:16Trouble in paradise.
01:20:18My real question here.
01:20:19Who's putting the green stuff on top of bagel bites?
01:20:24Yeah, that is not something...
01:20:25That's fine.
01:20:26No, it's fine, I'm saying, but...
01:20:27Yeah, but nobody is.
01:20:28If you're doing that, that's...
01:20:29Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:20:30That's next level fat.
01:20:31Usually when you eat that, you're pretty inebriate.
01:20:33Right.
01:20:33Yeah, this is true.
01:20:34I'm going pizza rolls.
01:20:36Responsibly.
01:20:36I grew up way more on pizza rolls.
01:20:39Also...
01:20:39Burn your...
01:20:40I was about to say, pizza rolls are even more dangerous than Hot Pockets in terms of mouthburns.
01:20:46They explode, bro.
01:20:48Hot Pockets are so gassed, too.
01:20:49Hot Pockets are great.
01:20:50They're all great.
01:20:50Oh, my God.
01:20:51I'm going rolls, dude.
01:20:51You gotta know how to eat them.
01:20:52You bite the little core off, then you slowly bite down the side.
01:20:56I love you guys.
01:20:57You're wrong.
01:20:58There is something so...
01:20:58Well, no, I'm with you.
01:20:59I'm with you.
01:20:59Oh, all right.
01:21:00You're right.
01:21:00You're wrong.
01:21:00But there is something so good about sucking that greasy pizza pocket.
01:21:06Yeah.
01:21:07Like, just like...
01:21:07Brother...
01:21:07It's like a gusher.
01:21:08I might get those this weekend.
01:21:09It's like a pizza gusher.
01:21:11All right.
01:21:11Coming up next.
01:21:12We're headed to the weekend again.
01:21:14We don't have Megan today, so our gambling acumen is down exponentially.
01:21:19Look at the mean.
01:21:19But we're still going to give you a skillet special parlay.
01:21:22Coming up next here on Wake Up.
01:21:27Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
01:21:29We got Dana Pierce, Mikey Kadek, and myself, E-Bob, closing up another great, fun Friday
01:21:35love.
01:21:35But, well, check this out, though, guys.
01:21:37Actually, post-show on the Wake Up Barstool YouTube channel.
01:21:40We both...
01:21:41We're going to be...
01:21:41Oh, my God.
01:21:42We both thought of that at the same...
01:21:45By the way, if you want to join the movement, these guys are trying to bring back sideway
01:21:49hats.
01:21:49Yeah, we are.
01:21:50So, hand me that hat by you.
01:21:51We're also bringing beers back.
01:21:53Yeah, because they left.
01:21:55No, they have left.
01:21:56No, I'm serious, because, like, growing up, all of our dads, that's all they drank were
01:22:00beers.
01:22:00Yeah.
01:22:00Now, nowadays, everyone's just drinking everything but beers.
01:22:04What?
01:22:04We're bringing beers back this year.
01:22:06We're bringing beers back, guys.
01:22:08Okay, so, look, we're going to be live on the Wake Up Barstool YouTube channel.
01:22:11What, dude?
01:22:12We look so dumb.
01:22:13We're going to be live on the Wake Up Barstool YouTube channel after the show, a little post-show
01:22:16if you want to come hang out and get in the chat.
01:22:17It's going to be great.
01:22:18And Twitter.
01:22:19All right, here's our skill.
01:22:20Special parlay.
01:22:21Dana, take it away.
01:22:22Nuggets at the Thunder.
01:22:23Thunder have not been playing too great in the last 10.
01:22:26Nuggets have Jokic as long as they have him.
01:22:29They do not.
01:22:31I mean, I don't know what I'm saying.
01:22:33You know what?
01:22:33They're not going to lose myself.
01:22:34Listen, let the basketball expert take over here, guys.
01:22:36Yeah.
01:22:37I've been watching so much tape on this basketball season.
01:22:40The ratings are up a lot.
01:22:41You know, college basketball has really taken the rise here.
01:22:45I've been really enjoying it.
01:22:46I'm going to go Iowa State.
01:22:47I really like their offense and their defense on the boards.
01:22:50I'm going to take Iowa State minus 7.5 against Texas Tech.
01:22:53They're great at home, too.
01:22:54They're great at home.
01:22:54Yeah, they're great at home.
01:22:55They're great at home.
01:22:56And, of course, there's the Toppin injury, which changes everything for Texas Tech.
01:22:59That's right.
01:23:00Christian Anderson.
01:23:01Obi Toppin.
01:23:02He's hurt.
01:23:02I think it's his little brother.
01:23:04Right?
01:23:04JT?
01:23:04I don't think so.
01:23:05Jacob.
01:23:05Yeah, yeah, Jacob.
01:23:06Okay, and then, look, I'm just going to go with Lafonso Ellis.
01:23:09He told us Illinois.
01:23:10He thinks he's maybe one of the more underrated teams in the country.
01:23:12They're going to be at home against Michigan tonight on Fox.
01:23:15You want to watch a big game?
01:23:16You want to play something?
01:23:16You play the Skilled Special Parlay, guys.
01:23:19Again, hop on the Wake Up Barstool YouTube or Twitter right after the show ends.
01:23:23We'll be on about 9.15.
01:23:24Come hang out.
01:23:26Kick off the weekend.
01:23:27We love you.
01:23:29We love you all.
01:23:29Have a great day.
01:23:30Have a great weekend.
01:23:31That was fall.
01:23:33That was direct contact with fall.
