00:00:11night football. We got Dana Veers, Mikey Kading, Megan making money. Money quarter's back five
00:00:20and one last week, guys. Brandon Walker's going to join the show hour two. We got five more picks
00:00:24to send you into the weekend with. We got a ton of college football preview, a ton of NFL to
00:00:28preview. Guys, let's have ourselves a weekend. Wake Up Barstool starts now.
00:00:34What up, y'all? Welcome in. Wake Up Barstool Friday edition here on FS1.
00:01:02Get my brand new Indiana Jones sweater on. It's the foremost supporter of Danny Dimes
00:01:10and the Indianapolis Colts right now. I love this. You can get this on the Barstool
00:01:13shop. We check it out. But Friday crew is back. T-Bob Hebert, Michael Kadick. We got
00:01:18Dana Beers back. That's right. Big Boys Club Friday and her honorary big back. Megan making
00:01:24money. Win the Tiger onesie, man. How we feeling, dude?
00:01:28It's good to be an LSU Tiger. It's damn good to be an LSU Tiger. Of course, LSU Ole Miss might
00:01:36be a little biased. We'll get there a bit later in the show. First of all, how's everybody doing
00:01:41this Friday? Feeling good? So good. Hell yeah. So good.
00:01:45Jinx. Jinx. Look at you. Y'all are locked up. Already the boys were planning out their breakfast
00:01:51for after the show. The first conversation that these two had upon entering the studio.
00:01:56The absolute beatdown I'm going to put on some hash browns this morning is going to be
00:02:00diabolical, historical, and absolutely amazing. Wow, that fires me up, man.
00:02:04So what's, okay, since we're here, what's going with the hash browns? I'm on a health kick,
00:02:11so I'm getting a little spinach and feta, but I'm getting sausage in there, okay? Dump on the hot
00:02:16sauce like you absolutely read about in the newspapers. And that's about it. Maybe some cheese
00:02:21in there, a little cheddar cheese. Yeah, it's great. A little spinach and feta. Hell yeah,
00:02:24man. All right. I'm sorry, dude. I'm sorry.
00:02:28I just want somebody to eat like I do. It's annoying. Like, I'm trying to eat healthier,
00:02:33too. I got salad from the grocery store this week.
00:02:37Who does that, dude? A grocery store salad is sad. A lot of herbivores. It's sad.
00:02:41At some point, and maybe somebody can start to cook this up. At some point, I want a top five
00:02:46foods that you buy from the grocery store, but end up letting go bad in the fridge.
00:02:51Because a salad mix has to be up there. The carrots I've had in my fridge for months.
00:02:56I feel like carrots don't go bad. I feel like you could eat a carrot two years later.
00:03:00They just sit there, though. They just sit there. They look good, though.
00:03:03They do. Especially if you leave their little green tail on, so it looks like you got like
00:03:06a little hobbit fridge going down. They start growing more carrots on top of them.
00:03:11I don't think that's a thing. So, guys, look, if you want to get involved, you can hit us
00:03:15up on Twitter, whatever. Follow at WakeUpBarcel, sub to YouTube, all that stuff. Okay, let's
00:03:20go ahead and dive in to last night's Thursday night football game. The NFL, man, it's so weird
00:03:27how, no matter how bad a game is, it's almost like, do y'all play Mario Kart? Yes. Okay,
00:03:33so you know how Mario Kart has the rubber band effect, right? If you're losing, you get better
00:03:37power-ups. I don't know how the NFL has done it, but they have truly made that in the most
00:03:42competitive professional sports league in the entire world. Because this was a Cardinals
00:03:46team that looked dead. Horrible. Horrible. The entire night. And yet you look up and they're
00:03:52scoring to tie the game with 30 seconds left before the Seahawks end up walking it off.
00:03:59Boys, Dana, you stayed up the whole time. I did. You're the only one that stayed up
00:04:03live the whole time. Give me your biggest takeaway from last night. Well, this kind of
00:04:06goes off what you're saying. I took some notes last night. My first note, I'm reading it right
00:04:10now. I'm an iPad guy now. Not a big deal. New phone yesterday, came with a free iPad.
00:04:16There's no way the iPad was free, though. Oh, right? The iPad came with it. Somehow, I probably got
00:04:21scammed at some level. I'm almost positive I got pitched this, and I think they're just
00:04:26adding your iPad payment into your payment. I'm not an understand taxes guy, but the taxes
00:04:32on this were incredibly large. I'm pretty sure that the iPad itself might be free, but you're
00:04:39getting charged for the service of the iPad along with the phone. Oh, okay. I'll still take
00:04:44that, though. I'm getting charged up the wazoo. My first note on my new iPad last night as
00:04:49I was watching was Marv Stinks. I had that here. Now, you move to the fourth quarter and
00:04:56things completely change. He starts to actually have a little bit of confidence, but what I
00:05:01first noticed in that first half with Marvin Harrison Jr., he didn't feel like he wanted
00:05:07to be on the field. Bro, his confidence. You saw a man whose confidence was shattered.
00:05:12He kind of looked like he was jogging out there. Anytime you saw his face on a close-up,
00:05:17he just looked like sad. Yeah. Good catch, though. Jeez. So, thank God he kind of turned
00:05:22it around a little bit. You could tell how much this touchdown meant to him. He got down
00:05:25on a knee and prayed pretty much. He was damn near crying. Yeah. But that was my first note
00:05:30was he just looked lethargic. The whole offense looked lethargic. Good word, Kadic. I don't
00:05:36know. Oh, look at you. Lethargic. Is that like sleepy? Yeah. Yeah. A little lazy, a little
00:05:41lackadaisical. So, when you dig yourself in a hole that early in a football game, it's going
00:05:46to be tough to come back. And they did come back. I thought they should have gone for two
00:05:50at the end there. They had all the momentum in the world when it was 20-19. But regardless,
00:05:56you can't put yourself in that big of a hole early. The team, they were getting booed in
00:06:01the first quarter. It just looked horrible. Kyler didn't look good. I guess those signs
00:06:05of life are good moving forward in that second half. But I try not to read it too much into,
00:06:11you know, week by week. But they looked bad for 30 minutes. Yeah. We talked about it yesterday,
00:06:18but it's, NFC West is odd because they're the only division in football right now where
00:06:22nobody had a losing record going into last night. They still don't as this just drops
00:06:26the Cardinals to 2-2. But I don't know if any of the teams are that good. Yeah. Like,
00:06:32I'm not really sold. And then, you know, a lot of them play the same. I like the Rams. I think
00:06:36the Rams are legit. But the Niners are banged up. The Seahawks, I'll say Sam Donald, I think
00:06:41he's just straight up good at this point. Yeah. We'll see what happens when, you know,
00:06:45obviously he had a little bit of a meltdown in the playoffs. But we'll see how things go
00:06:50if they do get to that playoff atmosphere later. Look at him go. But he looked straight
00:06:54up just consistent, confident, just very solid. He's got good weapons out there.
00:06:59Sure. IU. IU. Oh, is that a Hoosier? Yep. We're learning now, Dana, I think it's so abundantly
00:07:05clear. Just don't play professional football in New York. No. No. If you do, it's either
00:07:11going to ruin you or it's going to set you back years. And this is not just the Giants,
00:07:16the Jets as well. Look at Geno Smith. Look at Sam Darnold. Look at Daniel Jones. Look at
00:07:22Saquon Barkley. Just don't play football in New York. Yeah. Bottom line. Yeah. Yeah. I'm glad
00:07:27you mentioned Marvin Harrison Jr. because you really did witness the death and resurrection
00:07:31of Marvin Harrison Jr. last night. Yeah. Because he had that one round. I mean, on the pick
00:07:35that they ended up getting lucky in the fumbleback, he just stopped running the round. Yeah.
00:07:37Yeah. And then he had the bobble and he was, he was broken. That pick was insane. I mean,
00:07:42Kyler, who was Kyler even? Did Harrison not finish the round? No, Harrison just stopped. He like
00:07:46hesitated at the top of the round. He was trying to, maybe not still the best decision, but you
00:07:50know, he's trying to trust his guy. That's the craziest thing to me is that Kyler Murray somehow
00:07:55retained trust in Harrison. Yeah. Because he went to him that second half. He had the
00:07:59big back shoulder. He had the touchdown. He had the big catch on the final drive to set
00:08:02up the game tying score. So hopefully, because I always like when guys can prove us wrong and
00:08:08overcome, hopefully this is more going to be part of the course for, um, for Harrison going
00:08:13forward. Uh, there were a couple of funny moments last night. So if you saw the cold open,
00:08:17um, I wasn't really mad at Dana. Uh, it was a callback to Jackson Smith and Jigbo walking
00:08:22by the ref last night. Uh, roll this tape guys. This is, this is very funny. Okay. We got
00:08:27no audio on this, but, uh, as you can see, he walks right. He says, this is BS stops in
00:08:33the middle and gives him the ultimate parenting look of like, watch yourself, son. Megan, do
00:08:41you hit, do you hit your kids with that? Oh, absolutely. I hit my kids with that multiple
00:08:46times. It's the, the unspoken look is all you need if you're a strong mother. The, the
00:08:51best part about it too is Kirk and Al in the booth straight up hit like the old school,
00:08:55like, oh, oh, son, you better watch out. Anytime I got to go to time out. Anytime I got in trouble
00:09:01when I was a kid, my dad told me to face the wall and I would just stare at the wall. Just
00:09:06stare at the wall? Yeah. It was effective. Yeah. I was like, I didn't want to face the wall,
00:09:12so I didn't do anything stupid. Did you ever push back against facing the wall? Uh,
00:09:16no, but it was, it had little green dots on the wall. So it was fun to count them every
00:09:20now and then that was kind of an upside, but, uh, I mean, it was effective because I was not
00:09:26trying to face the wall for that long, you know, do something dumb, face the wall. I saw,
00:09:31I saw a meme of this game or describing this game last night and it feels like it kind of
00:09:35hit it on the head. You know, that horse drawn meme that everyone used to describe Game of Thrones,
00:09:40but it was just backwards. That makes sense. And it was perfect. Yeah. It got better. Like
00:09:44so many people turned this game off. I remember watching you leave the cave last night. I got,
00:09:48I got to wake up. I'm done with this. Between that and I had to get up early for this. Yeah.
00:09:52No, I get it for sure. I couldn't watch it anymore. I just couldn't. Um, I can't get my kids to go in
00:09:57timeout. My daughter does this weird thing. Like my son will hit my daughter. I'll try to put him in
00:10:02timeout. She'll be crying about getting hit, but then she cries trying to protect him from timeout. Good old,
00:10:08sister. That's good. Yeah. Good on the line for a little bro. Uh, all right. So that was,
00:10:13that was a Thursday night football game. Wait, Katie. Oh, wait, no. I want to play this for
00:10:15you. You're going to appreciate this. You're being smelling salt guy. Yes. Okay. Look at Meyer
00:10:19before he's lining up for the game winning 50 plus yard. Oh yeah. He had already hit a 50 yarder
00:10:25and look at that's on the field right before he's walking out for the kick. I think at that point
00:10:31you, you already know you've lost. So my buddy, funny story. He didn't play, but my first start
00:10:37against Penn state, he actually wrapped them in his wrist tape and you know, like wrapped
00:10:43them in. So I'd come off the field. He'd unwrap, hand me one and wrap back up. So every time
00:10:49dude, I would just crack and huff that thing, dude. I love smelling salts. Yeah. Me and my
00:10:54buddies would, uh, we would, we would do smelling salts just to like drink beers. Yeah. Yeah.
00:10:59I would put it in the tab of the beer. Yeah. So as you're drinking, you smell it. Oh wow.
00:11:03Wow. Innovative. Can I try that? Yeah. Like today? Yeah. I would love to try that.
00:11:09What a Friday. That's a Friday beer at 5001. I have a video just going chugging beer.
00:11:14We're going to order, uh, we're going to order some salts for the studio. But wait, so Katie,
00:11:18help the people understand though. What does the smelling salt feel like? What does it do?
00:11:21It is like the most euphoric? Yup. Yup. Yup. Good one. Jolt of energy you'll ever feel
00:11:28in your life. Like you could actually run through a wall. Yeah. Punch cement. Like that's what
00:11:33you feel like. Punch cement. Like you can actually feel like Superman. Every time I did a smelling
00:11:37salt was before a game, before a big lift, anything. And it's just mmm. I love it so much.
00:11:43It's an instant just woof. Oh yeah. Woof. Woof. All right. Let's get into some of the other
00:11:48Sorry, that just got me fucked. No, it doesn't. It's, it's, it's, again, it's, it's overpowering.
00:11:51Yeah. It's to the point where like you want to try to hit it harder and harder and your nose
00:11:55is rejecting it, but you're getting more fired up. You ever hit it so hard that you lose all
00:11:59like senses? Yeah. Like you lose hearing. You lose, like you, you feel like you're blacking out.
00:12:05Is it just ammonia? Like what exactly does it smell like? No, I think, I think that's
00:12:09actually exactly what it is. Just sniffing chemicals. Yeah. Um, not unlike yesterday when
00:12:15we were sniffing the football chemicals. Yeah. Uh, all right. So other games for this weekend
00:12:19guys, look, I got the Danny Dimes shirt on right now. Rams Colts coming up Sunday. Uh, this,
00:12:25this feels like the Colts have been incredible. We've said they, I think they're getting a little,
00:12:31I think they're doing a little, uh, whatever. I guess what I'm trying to say is the Broncos
00:12:35win is probably bigger than people are giving it credit for. Um, but everybody's using this game
00:12:40to say all the Colts real or not. I think they are. I'm calling them the Kirkland brand Eagles,
00:12:46but the battle to watch here is Quentin Nelson and that Colts offensive line against Jared verse
00:12:52Brandon Fisk in that Rams defense line. That is going to be maybe the best, uh, trenches battle
00:12:59that's going to take place this Sunday. Yeah, I agree. I love watching Quentin Nelson. Yeah. He's
00:13:04I was going to say that feels like a chaotic guy. That's why I wore number 56 at Indiana. I've been
00:13:08a fan of his for, since he was at Notre Dame. Yeah. Dude's an absolute animal. Um, yeah, I'm
00:13:14excited. I think the city of Indianapolis has been yearning for a good team that they could
00:13:19get behind. Yeah. It's been a couple of years, but I'm happy for the city of Indy and I like
00:13:24this Colts team. Yeah. Danny Dimes is slinging it right now. I think they got a solid run game.
00:13:29Obviously Jonathan Taylor, I think he's been the best back in the league so far. Yeah. This is a real
00:13:34test. This is, this is going to be the game people see and say, Hey, are these guys for
00:13:39real? And, uh, to me, I don't know. I think this is the Rams. I think this is the Rams.
00:13:44I will. Okay. I want to be clear about how I feel about this. I, because the question here
00:13:49is like, who's more of a contender? I think you have to answer that question with the Rams
00:13:52because they've done it and they got Stafford. And again, the defense is incredible and, and,
00:13:56and, uh, Nakua is great, but I do think the Colts are better than we're giving credit
00:14:01for. Megan, I haven't looked at your money corner yet. So I don't want to step on any
00:14:05toes here, but do you have a, do you have a read on this game?
00:14:08Uh, not necessarily as of yet. I've kind of dipped more into the college card this week.
00:14:14Um, look, I, I don't really know again about this, a Colts team yet. And as you said, like
00:14:21you're a big Daniel Jones guy, as you said last week though, and Dan said, I don't know
00:14:25about it, but Kevin O'Connell could be quarterback whisperer, but maybe just a year late.
00:14:31Yes. Well, well, and exactly. Well, okay. So what Megan's talking about there and, and
00:14:35I, I, this was very faulty logic that I was using, but it's plain out. Right. Is that
00:14:40like, uh, Shane Steichen, Kevin O'Connell? There are guys who they are quarterback whispers.
00:14:49This is what I was using to support wins. And if you give them one of these vets, uh,
00:14:53like a Darnold, a Jones, somebody who once had potential, but maybe wasn't in a good
00:14:57situation, they can thrive. And that's what we have with Steichen and Dan Jones. How about
00:15:02this? Daniel Jones gets a hundred K bonus every win in which he plays over 50% of the
00:15:07snaps. How fun would that be?
00:15:09That rocks. I mean, right. You know, every, if you go home with a dub, you're taking home
00:15:13an extra a hundred K. Absolutely. I do have a question. If Daniel Jones looks bad in this
00:15:20game, just looks like Daniel Jones of last year, guy that was a 50, 50 touchdown to
00:15:26interception guy. Is that indicative of how he's, you think how he's going to play the
00:15:31rest of the year? Or do you think that he could bounce back from that? Do you think we see
00:15:34the floor here or? No, I think I would, I would hope that he would be able to survive
00:15:41that. I don't know. Look, regardless of what you want to say about Danny, I don't know who's
00:15:46been through more kind of mental adversity. Five teams? Five? A lot of teams. That's insane.
00:15:52He completely lambasted the butt of all the jokes. So I think he should, in theory, be
00:15:58able to flush one bad week. Can I give you a fun fact about Daniel Jones? I would love
00:16:02a fun fact. This past year, he played on our intramural basketball team in New York
00:16:07City. Wait, what? Yeah. Was he good? Yes. Dunking. Oh my God. And all the people, we play
00:16:13against like finance bros that are like six feet tall and they're like, is that Daniel Jones?
00:16:18How tall is he? He's like six, four probably. That's awesome. He was really good. Daniel
00:16:26Jones, I think the biggest critique of me, just kind of has resting dumb face. Yeah,
00:16:31his eyes. Yeah, his eyes just look dumb. I'll be the first to admit, when I see his picture
00:16:36and his eyes are staring through your soul, that gives me no confidence. I'm like, that
00:16:41quarterback's going to stink. But he's proven me wrong so far. I'm a fan of DJ. Was he a good
00:16:47teammate? Did you play on his team? Because that's been one of the things that's been
00:16:50taking place on Instagram is a lot of his old teammates are popping up in the comments
00:16:54and like gassing him up. So there's kind of this narrative forming out there that regardless
00:16:58of what we thought on the outside, that the boys love him. He's just really good at basketball.
00:17:02Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Great guy too. All right. So I got on my Indiana Jones
00:17:08high horse there. Again, check out the Barstool Sports Shop. We've got plenty more NFL
00:17:12to get to, but coming up next, we're going to get into the college football weekend.
00:17:19We got the crawler corner. We're going to break down some film preview of Big Noon kickoff
00:17:23as well. We got the money corner. It's all here on Wake Up Barstool. Keep it tuned to FS1.
00:17:32Oh God, it gets me fired up, dude. Big Noon kickoff coming up this weekend. Also remember
00:17:36the college football, Barstool college football show will be before Big Noon and they get a segment
00:17:42on the big stage. Shout out to the homies, Brandon Walker, Big Ev, Big Cat, Case, everybody.
00:17:49Am I forgetting to be? Dave. Yeah, for sure. All right. Let's start then because I want
00:17:53to get into college football weekend. It's the craziest college football weekend that we've
00:17:55seen in maybe ever. Feels like years and years and years. Let's just start with the Big Noon
00:18:00game. We're going to give you some film in a bit, but USC, a surprising USC team. I think
00:18:07we could frame it as thus far. Traveling to Illinois, a battle of styles. Illinois trying to recover
00:18:14from the debacle of Bloomington. And USC trying to make a statement and say, hey, look, we're back.
00:18:22We're legitimate and Lincoln Riley can still coach. Mikey, what's the read here? So watching film with
00:18:28you, I really like USC. I think Maiava is a great quarterback. He uses his legs very well. And I just
00:18:35am really curious to see how Illinois bounces back after what the Hoosiers did to them last weekend.
00:18:42But, you know, Illinois has a lot of things to fix. Their offensive line was obviously a very poor spot
00:18:50against the Hoosiers on Saturday. But if they get that figured out, give Altmaier time to make plays.
00:18:57Use his feet and just, like, create the plays that we know he can make. Then, you know, I think it's
00:19:03going to be a great game. But if they can't figure that out, then I think USC trounces them.
00:19:08Yeah, it's odd that the offensive line struggled too much. To me, that speaks more to maybe Indiana's
00:19:12front seven because it's a good offensive line for Illinois. It's all guys that return this season.
00:19:19Real quick, before you go too deep, how was Bloomington last week? First game in the crowd.
00:19:24And for those who don't know, Mikey Kadic was the center for Indiana last year in that
00:19:28magical playoff run starting center. So this was his first game that he attended live as a fan.
00:19:34It was the top five weekend of my life.
00:19:36The atmosphere was absolute bonkers. My family was there. Ella was with me. All my old roommates
00:19:43came back. It was truly incredible. Got the tailgate from sunup to sundown. Went out after the game.
00:19:51Saw the town. Saw everyone. It was fantastic.
00:19:54Beers, beers, beers, beers, beers, beers, beers.
00:19:55Yeah, show me. Show me.
00:19:57Probably about 38 beers. Probably about 38 beers.
00:20:01Beers and heaters, baby. What a weekend.
00:20:03Yeah, so many heaters as well.
00:20:05What is this? I've been told we haven't...
00:20:06Oh my God, yeah.
00:20:08I mean, this, I could have killed Ella.
00:20:10You just, she suplexed her.
00:20:11I could have killed her. I really, and her dad was right there too.
00:20:14He was probably like, do it.
00:20:16It was unbelievable. And thankfully, I mean, I was pretty much blacked out at this point
00:20:22of the night, but I like backed her into that wall, which if I just dropped, I would have
00:20:27squashed her head like a watermelon.
00:20:29So, two notes here.
00:20:31Oh, Lord.
00:20:31Dirty dancing moves are way harder than you think. It's just true.
00:20:36Secondly, we do need to give Katie credit for what he was just talking about, the physical
00:20:41awareness to pin her against the wall.
00:20:43Yeah.
00:20:43Because if it just drops, we're looking at a broken neck. Instead, you squash her, but
00:20:47she lives.
00:20:48I'll give it to Ella. She had great form.
00:20:50Yeah.
00:20:50She had great form.
00:20:51Yeah.
00:20:52Also, I feel like Ella's got like, you know how like a little kid, they're just like rubber,
00:20:57like they kind of bounce off the ground.
00:20:59Yeah.
00:20:59I feel like Ella's still at that age where she can just kind of, she'll be fine.
00:21:03Yeah.
00:21:03She'll be fine. It seems like y'all bounce back great.
00:21:05Yeah.
00:21:06Shout out to the Hoosiers. Let's get into some of the other big games.
00:21:08Yep.
00:21:09Tomorrow night, the biggest one on the docket in a mass slate, in my opinion,
00:21:14Penn State, Oregon, Happy Valley, at night, wide out. Dana, you have, what's your, because
00:21:22I've talked to everybody else in this room about this game so far. What's your read on
00:21:25this?
00:21:25This is the biggest game of the college football season so far. From what I've heard,
00:21:29okay, this guy, Dante Moore, is just the most pure passer.
00:21:34He's been great.
00:21:35In college football right now. He's skyrocketing up draft boards right now. A little fun fact
00:21:40about me. I went to a Penn State tailgate last, two years ago. I had the worst meatball
00:21:46sandwich of my entire life.
00:21:47Oh, dude.
00:21:48Okay?
00:21:49Oh, no.
00:21:50I love the fine people of Penn State. I had an awesome time, but that left a bad, physically
00:21:56and metaphorically left a bad taste in my mouth. It is a whiteout. Oregon's traveling pretty
00:22:03far. I think these, I think Dan Lanning's boys have the, they're ready to go. I think
00:22:08they take it down.
00:22:09They take it down. In a hostile environment.
00:22:11So true.
00:22:12I think they, I think they're just better tested. Penn State's played nobody.
00:22:18I love the people at Penn State, but you gave me a bad meatball sandwich.
00:22:21Yeah, that's so true.
00:22:22I mean, look, dude, that's not bad analysis right there. Katie, did you ever play in Happy
00:22:27Valley?
00:22:28Played there three times.
00:22:30How, I mean, what, what, describe that atmosphere?
00:22:33Everyone at Penn State says, you know, I made these the loudest stadiums I've played in rankings
00:22:38and Penn State was number three. And everyone's like, oh, just because Indiana was terrible
00:22:42when you played here. But it's like, don't you want your fans to be consistent every single
00:22:47week? You claim that you're the best fans in the country, but then you don't show up
00:22:52when a bad team comes into town. You know, it kind of, it kind of pissed me off a little
00:22:55bit, but my biggest thing about this, this game is obviously James Franklin is four
00:23:01and 20 against top 10 opponents. Everyone, you know, the narrative of, of can't win the
00:23:07big game. Oregon has every excuse in the world to lose this game. Coming in, coast to coast
00:23:12travel, 730 game, white out. They have every excuse to lose the game. If Penn State doesn't
00:23:18win this game, they have no excuses.
00:23:20It's a disaster.
00:23:21It is, it will be a spiral. The fans will start turning against Franklin. I mean, obviously
00:23:27they might still make the playoff, but you want, like, because this game will set up
00:23:32the rest of your season. If you lose this game, you lose your fans, you lose the boys. Franklin
00:23:37is going to go into a spiral. He can't win the big game. Narrative is true.
00:23:41What's crazy about this game is I kind of think like both teams still make the playoffs.
00:23:45I think so as well.
00:23:46But the narrative, like you're alluding to, is massive. And what really sucks for Franklin
00:23:53is that if you hate James Franklin, this is kind of a win-win. Because if he loses, it's
00:23:59disaster. But if he wins, you're just like, all right, we'll do it in the way it matters.
00:24:03You know, do it again. Do it in the playoffs. Do it in the championship. So James Franklin's
00:24:08in a tough spot here. Whereas Dan Lanning has nothing to lose, everything to gain. Meg,
00:24:13what do you think? So this game makes me really nervous because I went around the office earlier
00:24:18in the week asking people who is their dog that they think can win outright this weekend. And about
00:24:2380% of the office is on Oregon. And that day, the line was plus three. And again, everyone is
00:24:32talking about how much they love Oregon. And now the line has moved to three and a half. Why?
00:24:38I'm not playing this game. It's very interesting. I'm excited to watch. I
00:24:42low-key felt like I was kind of cheating when I watched the mummy uniform reveal because I
00:24:48really liked that video. It was a lot of fun. And it reminded me of like the Mighty Ducks
00:24:53logo. I don't have a play, but I'm really nervous for Oregon right now just because of how many
00:24:59people are on them and the line movement. I think Penn State wins. I think Penn State wins.
00:25:06All the elements. I know Oregon hadn't played anybody either. I think they have too many elements
00:25:10working against them. We'll see. All right, let's get to the real biggest game of Saturday,
00:25:15guys. And I'm talking about LSU Ole Miss in Oxford. Look at Meg. She's got the Tiger Strike
00:25:22jumpsuit on. This is my favorite game every year. Some of my best memories of my life as a fan,
00:25:29as a player come from this game. It always gets weird in Oxford. Some books has LSU as a favorite.
00:25:35Some books have Ole Miss as the favorite. Here's where I sit. This LSU defense is the separating
00:25:45factor for me. And look, the emergence of Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss's quarterback,
00:25:50has been, well, if you're an Ole Miss fan, incredible to watch. If you wanted Ole Miss to stink,
00:25:56it's been a really bad development because here we thought Austin Simmons was going to be the guy.
00:26:00He's not. Chambliss is awesome. He's way better. Back-to-back games over 300 yards,
00:26:04ton of touchdowns, but he ain't seen a defense like what LSU has this year. It's back.
00:26:10Mansoor Delane, the transfer of Virginia Tech, the highest-rated corner in the entire country
00:26:14right now. Harold Perkins finally finding his way to that star position.
00:26:17Park mode.
00:26:18They're a little safety linebacker hybrid. Megan, I like the Tigers in my completely unbiased
00:26:24opinion to go into Oxford and beat down those Rebs. Piss and Ole Miss.
00:26:29Oh, I love this Tigers team, too. You're talking about Chambliss, but my thing is,
00:26:35if he was better than Simmons, why didn't he start the season? Also, yeah, he looked good,
00:26:41but he played in Arkansas in two-lane defense. He's coming to play, or we're going to play,
00:26:45and he's going to have to see our defense.
00:26:48Right.
00:26:48And I would really like to see the running game get going here because, obviously,
00:26:52that's an Ole Miss weak spot. Durham, I think he's trending towards being 100% healthy.
00:26:57Barry will get some carries. I think the best plan of action here is for us to use that run game.
00:27:05Be careful. Protect the ball. Don't hurt yourself, but also make some plays. Defense wins championships.
00:27:14This game makes me so nervous, T-Bob. You know it's a double-edged sword working here.
00:27:19There's a guy that we work with that is an Ole Miss fan, LSU fan, Tulane fan.
00:27:25He's going to the game?
00:27:26It's a Mincy Bowl.
00:27:27Oh, he is?
00:27:27Mincy's been to the game.
00:27:28Oh, he is going.
00:27:29Yeah, he's been to the game.
00:27:30Oh, I haven't heard it 15 times.
00:27:32But, yeah, I think he's been, like, 23 or 26 times. Mincy's a real one.
00:27:36Look, okay, but you better put some spec on his name because you were just talking about Indiana
00:27:40or Penn State fans not showing up for the bad games.
00:27:43He's lost the vast majority of those 23, and yet every year.
00:27:47He's showing up every year.
00:27:48My man puts it all in every single year.
00:27:53Yeah, what I love about this game is I don't know who's going to win, okay?
00:27:57I want LSU to win, obviously.
00:27:58But these are the games that remind you why we do it.
00:28:02There is no form of live entertainment that makes you feel the emotions of a football game
00:28:07in which a team you love is in an absolute coin flip battle.
00:28:12It's a quantum state.
00:28:14Three and a half hours.
00:28:15Is it a win or a loss?
00:28:16We don't know. The box isn't open yet.
00:28:18You're going to have times during that journey when you have the highest of highs.
00:28:21You're going to have time during that journey when you're ready to end it all, the lowest of lows.
00:28:26And then at the end, we'll have the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
00:28:31And that visceral emotion, that waffling back and forth, that roller coaster, that's what reminds us that we're alive and that we matter.
00:28:42And I'm going to be so freaking alive on Saturday.
00:28:44I know I'm alive.
00:28:45I can feel my heart beating out of my chest.
00:28:47I can't wait.
00:28:48I want a smelling salt right now.
00:28:51That was incredible.
00:28:53Can I run through that door right now?
00:28:54You are so good at that.
00:28:56I can't wait, dude.
00:28:57I can't wait.
00:28:57Why don't you just go to the game and give LSU a pregame speech?
00:29:01Well, the one time I did the pregame video, we got our ass waxed.
00:29:03And then use all these big words that no one knows.
00:29:08Whatever he's used.
00:29:09And Dana's been on fire today.
00:29:11Yeah, I said metaphorically.
00:29:12Yeah, exactly.
00:29:13And lethargic.
00:29:14And lethargic.
00:29:15Don't forget about that one.
00:29:16All right, next game, guys.
00:29:18Wow, that was incredible.
00:29:20Georgia-Alabama.
00:29:21We can talk about a million games here.
00:29:23The more I sit with this game, and again, it shows a sign of the times that this isn't the premiere one,
00:29:28but I don't see how Alabama wins.
00:29:31And it's not even a slight to Alabama.
00:29:33They're playing better.
00:29:34Ty Simpson's playing well.
00:29:36I think Florida State's really good.
00:29:37So I'm not even knocking them for that loss.
00:29:39But I saw a Georgia team go into Tennessee, somehow find a way to get that.
00:29:42They've won 33 games in a row at home, beat eight top 15 teams in that win streak.
00:29:47And to me, it's just the stability of the program.
00:29:50Nobody has it more stable and figured out than does Kirby Smart, whereas Alabama appears in flux.
00:29:55Give me the dogs.
00:29:56I agree.
00:29:56The only reason I think Bama has a slight chance is because Georgia, their pass rush is not great.
00:30:02They have four sacks on the year.
00:30:04Ty Simpson has been good.
00:30:06The last two games, he's thrown, I believe, 85%.
00:30:09He's the highest-rated passer in the SEC.
00:30:11So give him time, which is what Georgia has been kind of doing over the past couple weeks.
00:30:18Maybe they have a chance, but I think this is Georgia in an obvious, obvious win.
00:30:23So, Megan, are you saying from a gambling perspective you like Bama, or are you saying to win the game outright, Nathan?
00:30:28So this is a game I have seven plays for the week.
00:30:31I did not play this game.
00:30:32This is one that I might play live.
00:30:34Obviously, the tide has not been good on the road under Coach Kellen.
00:30:39But again, as Dana alluded to, the pass rush, little iffy.
00:30:44And Alabama does have some NFL-quality type receivers.
00:30:50Jeremy Bernard's been great.
00:30:51Can they cover them?
00:30:53I don't know.
00:30:54Again, I'll probably play this live.
00:30:55I didn't want to take a risk against Kirby Smart in Athens, but if Alabama can get out and start this game hot and score first and take some air out of Athens, take some bark out of these Bulldogs, it could be an upset for Bama.
00:31:10I like the bark out of the Bulldogs.
00:31:11It's a good line.
00:31:11Can I say something?
00:31:13Can I say something?
00:31:13Yeah, of course.
00:31:14No.
00:31:15It doesn't feel the same without Saban.
00:31:17I know.
00:31:17No, it can't.
00:31:18It can't.
00:31:19It'll never be the same.
00:31:20I'm not as hyped up as I would be in years past.
00:31:24Oh, man.
00:31:24I just can't get there.
00:31:26A Saban Smart, Alabama, Georgia would be the number one game.
00:31:31That's just another funny thing about sports is that they just remind you about the inexorable march of time.
00:31:39Don't say, yeah.
00:31:41You don't know that.
00:31:42Every day, we're just one step.
00:31:44The inexorable step of time.
00:31:45You don't know that word.
00:31:47Inexorable.
00:31:48Inexorable amount of time.
00:31:49Every day, guys, we're one step closer to death's door.
00:31:52So that's why on Saturdays like tomorrow, we got to lock in and we got to have fun.
00:31:57Oh, I'm going to watch, T-Bom.
00:31:59I'm going to watch every second.
00:32:00Oh, no, for sure.
00:32:00I just mean that as you get older, you judge things by like, okay, now I'm old enough to be this athlete's dad or this NFL head coach is now younger than me.
00:32:09Or like Nick Saban, who's been there for my entire life, is now on college game day.
00:32:15Marvin Harrison Jr.
00:32:16Question, Dana, are you going to be pulling the phone out at the wedding or what?
00:32:20I will be, it doesn't start until like five-ish, so what time is this one at?
00:32:25This is at six-third.
00:32:26No, this is at six-third.
00:32:27Oh, it's at six-third.
00:32:28This is at six-third.
00:32:28Okay.
00:32:29This is going head-to-head.
00:32:30Yeah, this is going head-to-head with the work at the state.
00:32:32It's not on the dance floor.
00:32:33Oh, no.
00:32:34Of course not.
00:32:34Maybe they throw a TV up on their face.
00:32:38Dude, that's the one thing I wanted at my wedding.
00:32:40But there was no football on, so I guess it didn't make sense.
00:32:42But if it was during the fall, I was going to say, I need a room with a ticker.
00:32:47That's what I think weddings should have.
00:32:49Weddings should have a ticker.
00:32:51That would be awesome.
00:32:52That way, around the bar top, around the bar top.
00:32:55People won't be on their phones.
00:32:56You just, you can just see the scores.
00:32:59You don't have to be like totally distracted.
00:33:01You can just see the ticker.
00:33:02Move on.
00:33:02Just have an April wedding.
00:33:03Just have an April.
00:33:04Thank you, Megan.
00:33:05All right, let's go to break.
00:33:06We'll go back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:33:07Let's dive right in.
00:33:08It is time for Megan's Money Corner.
00:33:10By the way, guys, Megan, five and one in the Money Corner last week.
00:33:15Let's go, Meg.
00:33:16That's big wins.
00:33:17What would we like this week?
00:33:19All right, so big card this week.
00:33:21Last two weeks, total eight and two.
00:33:24I have eight plays on this card, so things could go a little awry.
00:33:28I'll run through the picks really quick, and then I'll just tell you about my favorite three.
00:33:31So I like TCU plus the three.
00:33:33I got Georgia Tech minus 13 and a half.
00:33:35Syracuse plus five and a half.
00:33:37UCF plus five and a half.
00:33:38Smith, Tate, anytime touchdown parlay.
00:33:41LSU Moneyline.
00:33:41Texas A&M minus six and a half.
00:33:43And Kentucky plus six and a half.
00:33:44Now, I'll give you a little snippet of my favorite games.
00:33:47So last week, I lost on the Friday game, which was Rutgers-Iowa.
00:33:52I'm going back and taking a little bait for a Friday game.
00:33:54TCU at Arizona State.
00:33:56I am taking TCU.
00:33:58Josh Hoover has been impressive.
00:34:00Coming off a monster win against SMU.
00:34:02On the flip side, Arizona State is coming off a big win against Baylor.
00:34:06But TCU is sixth in the nation in passing and 11th in scoring passes,
00:34:12and Arizona State struggles with the pass here.
00:34:15The Horned Frogs keep making me money.
00:34:17I'm going back to the well.
00:34:18Give me TCU plus the three.
00:34:20Next up.
00:34:20It is funny because normally this is a game, right, ranked team that's the dog.
00:34:26You think, oh, that's stinky.
00:34:27But you and Big Ever on this, and y'all are both very accomplished.
00:34:30Yeah, I like this Horned Frogs team.
00:34:32Trust the process, guys.
00:34:33They seem very, very well-rounded.
00:34:35Next up on the docket, I really like this play.
00:34:39So, Ohio State, Washington.
00:34:41You look at Washington's schedule.
00:34:43It kind of looks like they've played a basketball schedule.
00:34:45It's kind of weird looking.
00:34:46But I didn't really know what to do in this game because I do think Ohio State should cover and get the job done.
00:34:52But instead, went a little fun play here with a Smith-Tate anytime touchdown parlay.
00:34:57Love it.
00:34:57Plus 224.
00:34:59They both have three tutties on the year, so I think it's very doable here.
00:35:03Lastly, I would like to give out, I would say, I really like A&M minus the six and a half.
00:35:11Auburn had that tough game against Oklahoma, which they needed that safety to cover for me.
00:35:16But Matia apparently broke his thumb in the first quarter of the game and was still able to get it done.
00:35:22So, I think this Elko's group, off of a bye.
00:35:26Right before that, they had that huge win that you got to witness at home.
00:35:3112th man's going to be loud and weird.
00:35:34I like A&M laying almost a touchdown under the touchdown just to be safe.
00:35:39Yeah, this is an interesting one to me.
00:35:41And I agree with the play.
00:35:42I don't know if I've played it yet, but if I did, this is the side that I would.
00:35:47This is kind of a final stand in some ways for Hugh Freeze here.
00:35:51After dropping that Oklahoma game, if they drop this one, all the expectations that were built through an offseason of bringing in Arnold, all the NFL talent, the big win over Baylor.
00:36:01When they look very good to start the year, like that's all kind of at risk of dissipating in College Station this weekend.
00:36:09And for A&M, if they want to avoid being Texas 8-4, like they are every year, like these are the games that they lose in the past and they have to find a way to win.
00:36:18Didn't they go to like four OTs last year?
00:36:21Yes, it's insane.
00:36:22I think Auburn ended up pulling it out maybe at home.
00:36:26I can't remember.
00:36:26Yeah, so those are all the plays that I am on this week.
00:36:30Obviously, some of the numbers have changed.
00:36:32Some in my favor, some not.
00:36:33But let's make some money.
00:36:36Let's make some money.
00:36:37Hey, Mikey, thank you so much for the Brandon Walker about to join the show.
00:36:41And hour two of Wubb coming up right next around the corner.
00:36:47Wubb up.
00:36:48Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:36:50T-Bob, Brandon Walker, Dana Beers.
00:36:53Time out.
00:36:53Megan making money, what?
00:36:55Time, time, time out.
00:36:56I liked it.
00:36:57No, did you say Wubb up?
00:36:59Yeah.
00:36:59No, I said what up.
00:37:00You said Wubb up.
00:37:02Oh, did I?
00:37:03I'm a T-Bob guy.
00:37:04I can't support that.
00:37:04Did I?
00:37:05You know what?
00:37:06I like the cheese.
00:37:07Not on a Friday.
00:37:08Thank you, Megan.
00:37:09Friday is the best time for stupid puns.
00:37:11Wubb up.
00:37:12Yeah, I'm on fire this week between that and my Trinidad Tobago jokes.
00:37:15I mean, I can't be beat, guys.
00:37:17But of course you can't get me down.
00:37:19It's Friday.
00:37:20We got football on the weekend.
00:37:22But to head to one of my best friend's wedding for tonight.
00:37:24It's going to be great.
00:37:25Brandon, what's up?
00:37:26I'm here.
00:37:27Yeah, you're here.
00:37:27We went from maybe the most jolly person in the company to maybe the most ornery person in the company.
00:37:32Not ornery.
00:37:33You're a curmudgeon.
00:37:34It's a beautiful Friday.
00:37:35This is actually the best movie.
00:37:37I was in a great mood until I heard Wubb up.
00:37:40Ornery sounds like horny.
00:37:43He didn't say ornery.
00:37:44Are you combining ornery with honorary?
00:37:48I don't know.
00:37:48My God.
00:37:51You don't know words.
00:37:52You don't know words.
00:37:53What am I doing?
00:37:54What are we doing?
00:37:55I love this so much, dude.
00:37:56What is ornery?
00:37:57Does that mean like grumpy?
00:37:58It's not a word.
00:38:00Ornery.
00:38:00Just ornery.
00:38:01Ornery.
00:38:01Ornery.
00:38:02Ornery.
00:38:02Time out again.
00:38:04Second time out.
00:38:05You're wasting all your time outs.
00:38:07Have you never heard the word ornery?
00:38:08I've heard ornery.
00:38:10Ornery?
00:38:11Is that what you've heard?
00:38:12No, it's ornery.
00:38:13You've never heard ornery.
00:38:14No, I've heard grumpy.
00:38:15I've heard cranky.
00:38:16I've heard angry.
00:38:17Brandon, you missed 67 days of high school.
00:38:19You shouldn't be saying anything.
00:38:22All right.
00:38:25I'll start.
00:38:25All right, guys.
00:38:26Look, we're going to get into some NFL.
00:38:27We got, of course, college football's number one voice here.
00:38:30So just in time for some NFL talk.
00:38:32So we're going to talk college football as well, as we have been all day.
00:38:35We've got more games to break down.
00:38:36On the NFL in our one, we touched on a few.
00:38:38We have not yet touched on Ravens Chiefs.
00:38:41The one and three ball.
00:38:42Yeah, crazy that these two teams would be one and two entering this game.
00:38:48Maybe even crazier that I feel really good about the Ravens,
00:38:54despite the fact that this is in Arrowhead.
00:38:56I don't think that's unusual.
00:38:58I think if you watch the Ravens and the way they've lost their two games,
00:39:02you know, they've had some Derrick Henry fumble issues.
00:39:05They've had some issues that are very fixable and very not repeatable,
00:39:09and therefore they've lost.
00:39:11The Chiefs, in their two losses, have just not looked very good.
00:39:14They're a hard watch.
00:39:15And the Chiefs are a hard watch.
00:39:17The Ravens are an easy watch that Derrick Henry just fumbled a couple times.
00:39:21And there was more against the Lions than just the Derrick Henry fumble.
00:39:25They couldn't really move the ball in the second half as much.
00:39:27But I think the Ravens look like a more functional offense
00:39:31more of the time than the Chiefs do.
00:39:33The Chiefs have fallen into this pattern over the last couple of years.
00:39:37Be bad, be slow, be ugly, and have Patrick Mahomes save you.
00:39:40And it hasn't happened two times in the first three weeks.
00:39:44Dana, what'd you read on this?
00:39:45I'm ready to put my stake in the ground and say the Chiefs are done.
00:39:49They're washed.
00:39:49Before this game even.
00:39:51Is this they put your stake after the game, or you're saying before the game?
00:39:54I think he just puts a stake out right now.
00:39:56I put my stake in now, and I just...
00:39:58Rare or medium rare?
00:40:00Medium rare.
00:40:03Medium rare.
00:40:03Well, he is not ready for wordplay this morning.
00:40:08I think...
00:40:09I don't know.
00:40:10We've seen this in the past with the Chiefs,
00:40:12and this year just seems a little different.
00:40:15He's thrown a Taequann Thornton, who was a famous bust on the Patriots.
00:40:19It just doesn't look good.
00:40:21Kelsey looked bad last year, but he also...
00:40:25I think this is the game that kind of puts them behind the eight ball a little bit.
00:40:31Kelsey looks 35 years old.
00:40:32He does.
00:40:33Mahomes looks like he doesn't have anybody to throw to.
00:40:36I say if the Dolphins keep losing,
00:40:38the NFL should step in and make Tyreek Hill go back to the Chiefs.
00:40:41I think everybody gets more as soon as that happens.
00:40:44I agree.
00:40:44I don't think that's legal,
00:40:45and I don't think either team is interested in making the move,
00:40:48but I'm interested in watching a receiver play for the Chiefs here.
00:40:52Do you think he wants to?
00:40:53I don't know.
00:40:53I haven't talked to Tyreek this year.
00:40:55Me neither.
00:40:56So I think if Patrick Mahomes loses this game,
00:40:59he should be relegated and Dylan Raiola should just go ahead and take over.
00:41:02Yeah, just replace him, get younger.
00:41:05It's basically the same player.
00:41:06Y'all can get your jokes off.
00:41:08Raiola's played pretty awesome.
00:41:10He put together a pretty good stat line,
00:41:12a bit of a misleading stat line,
00:41:14but he was under pressure constantly against Michigan.
00:41:18You're a Raiola apologist, though.
00:41:20No, I just think we overcorrected
00:41:23because he ended in such a disastrous way that first year.
00:41:26He has played decently well for Nebraska's quarterback.
00:41:29It doesn't take away the fact that it is bizarre
00:41:32that he is doing a cosplay of Patrick Mahomes.
00:41:34No, I just couldn't disagree more.
00:41:36I hate it so much.
00:41:39It's down to everything.
00:41:40He reacts to touchdowns the same way.
00:41:42He reacts to college.
00:41:43Everybody reacts to touchdowns that way.
00:41:44He just looks like it.
00:41:46He just hands on the head.
00:41:47Apologist, apologist.
00:41:49I got you, Dylan.
00:41:50Don't worry, Boo.
00:41:51All right, let's go ahead and dive into college then this weekend.
00:41:54That was a long NFL play.
00:41:56Well, I mean, look, production senses were already on.
00:41:59You know what?
00:42:00Screw you.
00:42:01Because there's two more things I want to talk about then.
00:42:03Good.
00:42:03Eagles-Bucks.
00:42:04So I work every day with an Eagles fan, Connor Griffin,
00:42:08and I don't know if you have the privilege to work with Eagles fans,
00:42:10but they are just absolutely the worst.
00:42:12Yeah, Philly fans are the worst.
00:42:14They are on top of the league,
00:42:15and they still act like they are downtrodden.
00:42:18They still act like poor us, woe is us.
00:42:22Connor's talking about we're going to the Bucks.
00:42:23We never beat Tampa.
00:42:25We never win in Tampa.
00:42:27Like, you beat everybody, and you win every week.
00:42:30Even last week, they're down 26-7.
00:42:32They're booing.
00:42:33They're done.
00:42:33We suck.
00:42:34We can't run the ball, and look what happened.
00:42:35And was there ever a moment?
00:42:36I mean, I guess there was a moment where I thought,
00:42:38okay, the Rams look really good,
00:42:40but I never thought, well, the Eagles are just down and out now.
00:42:42The Rams look good the entire game.
00:42:44And then what it forced them to do was actually use A.J. Brown,
00:42:48use Devontae Smith, use the passing game that is there when they need it.
00:42:51I don't know why they didn't use it the first couple of weeks.
00:42:53I think the Eagles, this is a good game.
00:42:55I like the Eagles much better as a team than Tampa.
00:42:57Tampa, it seems like they're just kind of got the Chiefs model.
00:43:01They're playing down to their opponent for a couple of quarters
00:43:04and then saying, Baker, save us.
00:43:06Well, they also have, they're doing the Chiefs model,
00:43:09but a lot of it's due to injury, right?
00:43:11None of the original starting, no lines still in their spots.
00:43:14Clyde DeCancet, Clancy goes down.
00:43:16The Bucs just have to survive the injuries.
00:43:20And I do know this, final possession right now,
00:43:24there's probably not a quarterback that you would want in the league
00:43:27outside of Baker Mayfield.
00:43:28Pat might be the other one there.
00:43:30Dana, Packers, Cowboys, Sunday night football.
00:43:33As we are a national sports hug show,
00:43:35we are contractually obligated to talk about the Cowboys,
00:43:38but this one actually is interesting because of the Micah Parsons storyline.
00:43:43Let me tell you, there's a big difference here
00:43:45between being trash and looking like trash.
00:43:47Okay.
00:43:48Last week, the Packers looked like trash.
00:43:51Yes.
00:43:51The Cowboys are trash.
00:43:53True.
00:43:53They are a bad football team.
00:43:55They have a horrendous defense.
00:43:57The Packers ran into a solid defense in the Browns.
00:44:00I think the Browns might be the best defense in the league.
00:44:02I love the Browns.
00:44:03Just put in Shadur.
00:44:04Put in Shadur.
00:44:05I know you're going to hate that.
00:44:06Yes, that's my guy.
00:44:08It'd at least be fun.
00:44:09It'd be fun to watch.
00:44:10I did like Joe when he came out.
00:44:11Fun to watch for what?
00:44:12I don't know.
00:44:13Because it'd be...
00:44:14What if he does well?
00:44:15I'm a storyline guy.
00:44:16What if he does well?
00:44:16It'd be awesome.
00:44:18The Packers are...
00:44:19This is a big bounce back for them.
00:44:21I think they win by 10 plus.
00:44:22Yeah, I don't think that you could...
00:44:24In terms of disparities,
00:44:27I don't know that you could have a bigger one
00:44:28going from the Browns defense
00:44:30to this Cowboys defense now.
00:44:32It might be going from 1 to 32.
00:44:34I think so.
00:44:34That's what I mean.
00:44:35Like, you mathematically could not...
00:44:36And, I mean, again, Brandon,
00:44:38Micah Parsons,
00:44:39as if that man needs any extra motivation,
00:44:41is going to be on fire Sunday night.
00:44:44Didn't Jerry Jones say
00:44:45that he's not going to honor him
00:44:46like being back
00:44:47and like so there's like an extra narrative?
00:44:49I'm pretty sure.
00:44:49Well, I think he shouldn't.
00:44:51I mean, they should right now, but...
00:44:53I agree with that.
00:44:54But if I'm Micah Parsons,
00:44:56he said I believe he was like
00:44:58not a big deal,
00:44:59like wasn't worried about it,
00:45:00which I translated to
00:45:01I'm about to get in that ass.
00:45:03Yes, you're 1,000% correct.
00:45:05Well, yeah, but Micah Parsons
00:45:07played there, what,
00:45:07four years, five years?
00:45:08I'm not saying Jerry should honor him,
00:45:10but she's 1,000% correct
00:45:12about psychoathletes
00:45:13and the motivations that they use.
00:45:15Yes.
00:45:16He's going to be on fire.
00:45:18So, yeah, Packers...
00:45:19No CeeDee Lamb.
00:45:19Zach better watch out.
00:45:21Oh, yeah.
00:45:22I can see the Cowboys
00:45:23bouncing back as well,
00:45:24but I don't think
00:45:25they can beat the Packers,
00:45:26but I can see them
00:45:26bouncing back
00:45:27and being a better effort
00:45:28than they showed
00:45:29against the Bears.
00:45:29No CeeDee Lamb.
00:45:30No CeeDee Lamb.
00:45:31I'm Dakota's done.
00:45:33All right, let's dive
00:45:34into the college.
00:45:35Okay, well, Dakota's
00:45:36not really done.
00:45:36Dakota, Dak is still
00:45:37a very good quarterback
00:45:38in this league.
00:45:39What?
00:45:40Mississippi State's undefeated.
00:45:41You just feel
00:45:42fat and cocky now?
00:45:43Let's treat Dak
00:45:44with a little respect.
00:45:45By the way,
00:45:45okay, let's talk about
00:45:46Mississippi State
00:45:47because I don't think
00:45:47many shows are going
00:45:47to do it here.
00:45:48You know, I'm talking
00:45:49about these other
00:45:50national sports shows.
00:45:52Sure.
00:45:52Mississippi State,
00:45:53Tennessee this weekend
00:45:54in Starkville.
00:45:56The bells are going
00:45:57to be rolling, Brandon.
00:45:58North Vegas.
00:45:58There's only one of these
00:45:59teams that it's undefeated
00:46:01and it ain't those
00:46:02dirty volunteers.
00:46:03A, bells don't roll.
00:46:05They ring.
00:46:06And B, yeah,
00:46:08you said the bells
00:46:08would be rolling?
00:46:09They're going to ring.
00:46:10Anyway.
00:46:11Wait, what about this?
00:46:12Will the bells be tolling?
00:46:15He got me.
00:46:16Yeah, thank you.
00:46:17You're ready for word play.
00:46:18The bells will toll.
00:46:20It's a good point, T-Bob,
00:46:21because this college football
00:46:22weekend isn't just about
00:46:24the games at the top.
00:46:25Your Penn State's,
00:46:25your Oregon's,
00:46:26your Georgia's,
00:46:27your Alabama's,
00:46:27those are the marquee
00:46:28and those are the headlines,
00:46:29but this slate goes
00:46:3012 to 15 games deep
00:46:32of very interesting football
00:46:34starting tonight
00:46:35with TCU Arizona State
00:46:36and then, of course,
00:46:37Florida State and Virginia.
00:46:38Yeah, two sneaky
00:46:39Great Friday games.
00:46:39But this,
00:46:40this one right here
00:46:41is like an orphan
00:46:42on the slate on Saturday.
00:46:43This is in that weird
00:46:44SEC network.
00:46:45We don't really have
00:46:46a good game,
00:46:47but we still have to
00:46:47broadcast it.
00:46:48It's at 3.15
00:46:49after everybody else
00:46:50kicks off at 2.30
00:46:51Central Time.
00:46:53Tennessee at Mississippi State.
00:46:54Mississippi State's 4-0.
00:46:55So, I, I want to believe,
00:46:58I want to believe
00:46:59with all my heart,
00:47:00in my life, I'm 46,
00:47:02we've gotten to this point
00:47:03sometimes, sometimes
00:47:05we get to this point
00:47:06in our first big SEC game,
00:47:07here we go, bells are loud,
00:47:09it's 38-7 at the half.
00:47:11I fear Tennessee,
00:47:13I think Tennessee,
00:47:14that number beside them
00:47:15is 15.
00:47:16I think they're more like
00:47:17a top five or six team.
00:47:18I fear they flex this weekend.
00:47:21I, by tomorrow,
00:47:23by 3.15,
00:47:24I will have convinced myself
00:47:25we're going to beat them,
00:47:26but right now,
00:47:27the reality has me
00:47:29by the throat
00:47:29and is telling me,
00:47:31relax, buddy.
00:47:32Tennessee's very, very good.
00:47:34You just described
00:47:35one of my favorite rhythms
00:47:37that we hit
00:47:38in doing this job
00:47:39when you love a team
00:47:39that you're trying
00:47:40to be objective about,
00:47:41and it's that during the week
00:47:43you maintain some
00:47:44of that objectivity,
00:47:44you're able to be honest,
00:47:46and then Saturday
00:47:46you just fully give yourself
00:47:48over to emotion.
00:47:49Yeah, the deeper
00:47:51in the week you go,
00:47:52usually by Thursday
00:47:52it's like, well,
00:47:53and then Friday afternoon
00:47:55it's like, oh, hey.
00:47:55I got you to think about it.
00:47:57Let's just roll the footballs
00:47:58out and see what happens,
00:47:58and by Saturday
00:47:59you're just frothing
00:48:00at the mouth
00:48:00and let me,
00:48:01give me anything orange.
00:48:01I'm already at that point.
00:48:03You're already frothing.
00:48:03Yeah, we've been frothing
00:48:05all morning.
00:48:05Who are y'all frothing about?
00:48:06Oh, you're frothing
00:48:07about Ole Miss?
00:48:07I mean, come on, Brandon.
00:48:09You're going to act like,
00:48:09you didn't say the matchup,
00:48:11but I know you care
00:48:12about this redhead
00:48:13stepchild of a game,
00:48:14but that is obviously
00:48:15Megan, can you stand up?
00:48:17Is that going to mess up
00:48:17your mic or anything?
00:48:18Look at this.
00:48:19Look at this, dude.
00:48:20You think she's not frothing?
00:48:21Look at her, dude.
00:48:22Oh, wait, you got to sit
00:48:23and now move back
00:48:23this way to the camera.
00:48:24Yeah, look at this, dude.
00:48:25She's got a full tiger jumpsuit on.
00:48:27She's like Kim Mulkey.
00:48:28Yep.
00:48:29Hell yeah.
00:48:29Our queen.
00:48:30She does look like Kim Mulkey.
00:48:31Put some damn respect
00:48:32in that coach's name.
00:48:33Kim Mulkey, she's the best.
00:48:35She's the goat, dude.
00:48:36Also, I'm frothing.
00:48:36Brandon's a hater.
00:48:37He's a major hater, dude.
00:48:39Why are you frothing?
00:48:39I'm thinking about the skillet
00:48:41I'm going to eat after this.
00:48:42Yeah, he's frothing as well.
00:48:43Wow.
00:48:44That's why he didn't
00:48:44get your steak.
00:48:45Have you texted Kadek?
00:48:47Because when Kadek stood up,
00:48:48he said, let me know
00:48:48if you want to skillet
00:48:49and you didn't say anything.
00:48:50Now your insides are churning.
00:48:53Yeah.
00:48:53Can I say something?
00:48:55Of course.
00:48:55You have a mic on it.
00:48:55I feel like you and I
00:48:57have a pretty decent relationship, right?
00:48:58Yeah.
00:48:58You like me, I like you.
00:48:59Yeah.
00:49:00I don't want to damage
00:49:01that relationship at all,
00:49:02but I've been...
00:49:04I watched the first
00:49:05Mississippi State game
00:49:06I have ever really watched recently.
00:49:08Sure.
00:49:08I hate those bells.
00:49:10Oh, no.
00:49:11I'm sorry.
00:49:12That and that, Dana,
00:49:13is music to my ears.
00:49:14I'm sorry.
00:49:15I like a northeast jackass
00:49:17like you not being able
00:49:18to handle...
00:49:19I know.
00:49:19Not being able
00:49:20to handle the cowbells.
00:49:21I know.
00:49:22That fuels me.
00:49:23I love that.
00:49:24I can admit that
00:49:25it's not a good characteristic
00:49:26of mine.
00:49:27I should be able to...
00:49:28It's a tradition.
00:49:29I know.
00:49:29I should be able to...
00:49:30I took it...
00:49:31We took it yesterday
00:49:32for roughness.
00:49:32I took it in my studio.
00:49:35I don't hate a cowbell,
00:49:36but it's just very distracting.
00:49:38You don't like 60,000 cowbells?
00:49:39I'll say very distracting.
00:49:41It's loud.
00:49:42It gets loud.
00:49:42I've played there
00:49:43a primetime Thursday night game.
00:49:4550,000 cowbells
00:49:47going crazy.
00:49:48It gets as loud
00:49:49as anywhere else
00:49:49in the country.
00:49:50So, maybe the dogs,
00:49:51maybe the home dogs
00:49:52get it done.
00:49:53But I do think
00:49:53this is emblematic
00:49:55of what this weekend is.
00:49:56Yep.
00:49:56Like, again,
00:49:57Oregon and Penn State
00:49:58is at the top.
00:49:59Georgia, Alabama
00:50:00is at the top.
00:50:01You've got 12 to 15 games
00:50:02on the undercard
00:50:03that are phenomenal.
00:50:04Bro, Indiana, Iowa.
00:50:06I mean, Indiana
00:50:07coming off of a massive win.
00:50:08They have another
00:50:09big game next week.
00:50:10This is a game where for...
00:50:12I'm 36 for entire lives.
00:50:14For 34 years,
00:50:16this is a game
00:50:16that you know
00:50:17Iowa's going to win
00:50:18at home
00:50:19against Indiana.
00:50:19They're hopeless, right?
00:50:20And yet, this year,
00:50:22objectively,
00:50:23Indiana should win.
00:50:25The only note here,
00:50:26and shout out
00:50:27to Liam Blutman.
00:50:28He gave us out on roughness.
00:50:30I do not realize this.
00:50:30Right now,
00:50:31Iowa's offensive line,
00:50:32according to PFF,
00:50:34features the number one
00:50:35graded left tackle,
00:50:37left guard,
00:50:38center,
00:50:38right guard,
00:50:39and then dunker
00:50:40at right tackle's number two.
00:50:41Wow.
00:50:42Pretty impressive.
00:50:42Yeah.
00:50:43Pretty great across the board.
00:50:45Great.
00:50:45Awesome.
00:50:46Which begs the question,
00:50:47why does their offense
00:50:47still suck?
00:50:49Yeah.
00:50:49They came alive
00:50:51a little bit in Piscataway.
00:50:52In Piscataway,
00:50:52they started to go a little bit.
00:50:54They scored 38 points.
00:50:55Now, Rutgers,
00:50:56one of the worst defenses
00:50:56in the country.
00:50:57They gave up a lot to Ohio
00:50:58and a lot to other teams as well.
00:51:00But Iowa did finally
00:51:01show some life offensively.
00:51:03Can that carry over to Indiana?
00:51:04I think one thing
00:51:07they figured out
00:51:08is let's just run Gronowski,
00:51:09right?
00:51:10And he needs to still
00:51:11be better in the air.
00:51:12I thought he'd be better
00:51:12than he's been,
00:51:13but I think Indiana wins
00:51:14this game on the road, Brandon.
00:51:16What flavor skillet?
00:51:18Uh, I'm on a health kick,
00:51:20so spinach, feta,
00:51:22sausage, cheddar,
00:51:24hot sauce.
00:51:25It's a bad skillet.
00:51:26I know, it's a bad skillet.
00:51:27We're going to do a skillet.
00:51:28Like, you don't go
00:51:29half-stepping in the whole thing.
00:51:30I did the reverse.
00:51:31I did the reverse.
00:51:32Like, everyone gets ready
00:51:34and they're healthy
00:51:35for their wedding.
00:51:36I got married
00:51:37and now I'm trying
00:51:37to be healthy.
00:51:39Makes no sense.
00:51:40This man's on a health kick
00:51:40and he's dreaming
00:51:41about pork sausage over here.
00:51:43Uh, I...
00:51:44I'm trying to be healthy.
00:51:45Give me some of that sausage.
00:51:46I mean, but sausage,
00:51:49you know, it's protein,
00:51:50right?
00:51:50All right, fine.
00:51:51I'll get the meat lovers.
00:51:52No, get whatever you...
00:51:53All right.
00:51:54You can twist him
00:51:55into so many knots.
00:51:56No, because now
00:51:57I'm going to get meat lovers.
00:51:59Uh, all right,
00:51:59next on the docket,
00:52:00Notre Dame, Arkansas.
00:52:02Sneaky.
00:52:03Yeah, that a lot of people
00:52:04are saying that about.
00:52:05Notre Dame may be in trouble.
00:52:06No defense in this game,
00:52:08at least not up to this point
00:52:09in the season
00:52:09for either team.
00:52:10Brandon, you kind of like
00:52:11these hogs here.
00:52:13Are you calling them?
00:52:13Are you a blue pig?
00:52:14I think Arkansas
00:52:15is winning this football game.
00:52:16Soon.
00:52:17I think...
00:52:17Only other person
00:52:18that said that was
00:52:18Ben Metz.
00:52:20Yeah, well, Ben, listen,
00:52:21I hate him,
00:52:22but he knows ball.
00:52:25He said it's a system play.
00:52:26He knows...
00:52:26I don't...
00:52:26It's not a system play for me.
00:52:28It's an I've watched
00:52:28these teams play,
00:52:30and Arkansas is two plays
00:52:32away from being 4-0
00:52:33in the top 15 in the country.
00:52:34They fumbled going in
00:52:36to beat Ole Miss
00:52:36at the 22-yard line.
00:52:38They fumbled going in
00:52:39to beat Memphis
00:52:40at the 7-yard line.
00:52:41They have fumbled away
00:52:42two games.
00:52:43They're 2-2.
00:52:43Now they're fighting
00:52:44for their coach's life.
00:52:46If they like playing
00:52:46for him at all,
00:52:47they're going to play
00:52:48as hard as they can
00:52:49against a Notre Dame team
00:52:50who can't play defense.
00:52:52Defensively,
00:52:53they're just not good.
00:52:53They made Marcel Reed
00:52:54look like a Heisman winner.
00:52:55He's a good quarterback.
00:52:56He ain't a great quarterback,
00:52:57and they made him look
00:52:58like a great quarterback.
00:52:59Taylor Greene at Arkansas
00:53:00is one of the most
00:53:01underrated quarterbacks
00:53:02in the country.
00:53:03They're going to score.
00:53:04They're going to score.
00:53:05They're going to score,
00:53:05and I think they're
00:53:06going to beat Notre Dame.
00:53:07Wow.
00:53:08They need this one.
00:53:09They got Tennessee
00:53:09and Texas A&M next.
00:53:11If they lose
00:53:12three in a row,
00:53:14I think they don't
00:53:15have a chance
00:53:15at a bowl game.
00:53:16And he's getting fired
00:53:17soon.
00:53:18Bobby Petrino
00:53:18is going to be their
00:53:19coach the rest of the season.
00:53:19What a wonderful,
00:53:21wonderful web
00:53:22that real life weaves.
00:53:24I'm actually on the
00:53:25opposite side of you
00:53:26here, Brandon,
00:53:26and it's not that I even
00:53:27necessarily disagree
00:53:28with the points you make
00:53:29because those are all
00:53:30very solid logic
00:53:32to build a case on.
00:53:33I just think Notre Dame
00:53:36is, they just have
00:53:39to have this.
00:53:40I mean, quite literally,
00:53:41they have to have this.
00:53:42I really like CJ Carr.
00:53:44Arkansas finds ways
00:53:45to lose,
00:53:46and that's what bad
00:53:47teams do.
00:53:47So it's like I agree
00:53:48with your logic,
00:53:49but I find that that
00:53:50logic may crack
00:53:51because Arkansas
00:53:52finds ways to crack it.
00:53:54And the culture
00:53:56of Notre Dame
00:53:57is in such a
00:53:58healthy spot
00:54:00as opposed to
00:54:01Arkansas here
00:54:02that I actually like
00:54:02the Irish to go
00:54:03on the road
00:54:04and right the ship
00:54:05a bit here.
00:54:07Is anybody going
00:54:08to play the over,
00:54:09or is it just way
00:54:09too high now
00:54:10at 64 and a half?
00:54:11No, it's playable.
00:54:12If you're playing
00:54:13the total on this game,
00:54:14you need to play the over.
00:54:17Okay, Nick,
00:54:17one more game here
00:54:19to wrap up.
00:54:20Ohio State-Washington.
00:54:21Again, like to Brandon's point,
00:54:22a game that a lot of times
00:54:24would be second,
00:54:25third billing.
00:54:26Now we're getting
00:54:27to last.
00:54:28Another one
00:54:29where people are starting
00:54:30to really like
00:54:31the home dog
00:54:32here in the Huskies.
00:54:33It is very rare
00:54:34for the number one team
00:54:35in the country
00:54:35to be a single-digit favorite
00:54:37against an unranked team.
00:54:38Yeah.
00:54:39And right here,
00:54:40I think it's the third
00:54:41such case in the last
00:54:4215 years
00:54:42or something like that.
00:54:44A lot of people
00:54:45like Washington.
00:54:46I know Blutman
00:54:47on Unnecessary Reference
00:54:48likes Washington
00:54:48a lot more than I do.
00:54:50I don't see a team
00:54:51that I think can compete
00:54:52with Ohio State.
00:54:53I could be proven wrong
00:54:55on Saturday,
00:54:55but DeMond...
00:54:56DeMond Williams.
00:54:57Thank you very much.
00:54:57DeMond Williams.
00:54:58They've got a great
00:54:58receiver out there.
00:55:00This is a good offense.
00:55:01It's a solid team.
00:55:02I just don't know
00:55:03if it's a team
00:55:03that's going to go up
00:55:04against the number one
00:55:05defense in the country
00:55:06and compete at that level
00:55:08for four quarters.
00:55:09Pretty shocking stat there,
00:55:10Washington.
00:55:11Winners of 22 in a row
00:55:12at home.
00:55:13Well, they've got
00:55:13a beautiful place out there.
00:55:14Yeah, it's awesome.
00:55:15It's awesome.
00:55:16You ever been sailgating?
00:55:17I've never been sailgating,
00:55:18but this is very random.
00:55:20My first ever start
00:55:21was at Washington.
00:55:22That is random.
00:55:23I don't know why
00:55:24we played him.
00:55:25It was fantastic.
00:55:26It was beautiful.
00:55:27It was August,
00:55:28and it was like 60 degrees.
00:55:30When you did your
00:55:31college freeloading tour
00:55:32where you just get free beer
00:55:33at every college
00:55:34around the country,
00:55:35have you gone to Washington?
00:55:36No, I didn't,
00:55:38but speaking of which,
00:55:40are we going to talk
00:55:41about my Bearcats?
00:55:42Uh-oh.
00:55:42Who do the Bearcats
00:55:43have this weekend?
00:55:44Look at Dana.
00:55:45Call him Dana Chili.
00:55:46Are we going to talk
00:55:46about my Bearcats?
00:55:47Yeah.
00:55:48We're going to.
00:55:49Yeah, I actually
00:55:50wasn't playing.
00:55:50Before I get into that,
00:55:51I want a little fun fact
00:55:52because when I see schools,
00:55:55I like to bring up fun facts.
00:55:57Ohio State.
00:55:57One time I went to
00:55:58an Ohio State
00:55:59women's volleyball game,
00:56:01drank 11 beers.
00:56:02Wait, wait, hold on.
00:56:03Wait, wait, you went to a...
00:56:05How many timeouts I got left?
00:56:06Uh, you got one.
00:56:07You got two.
00:56:07Timeout.
00:56:08Okay.
00:56:09Your fun fact about,
00:56:10your fun fact about
00:56:11the school, Ohio State,
00:56:13is that you once
00:56:14drank 11 beers there?
00:56:15Yeah.
00:56:15At a volleyball game.
00:56:16At a volleyball game.
00:56:17They sell beers
00:56:18at their volleyball games?
00:56:19Oh, yeah.
00:56:19Okay.
00:56:20It was awesome.
00:56:21All right.
00:56:21My take on this game, though,
00:56:23they haven't,
00:56:24Washington hasn't really
00:56:25played anybody
00:56:25that has any type
00:56:27of explosiveness offensively.
00:56:29Ohio State obviously does.
00:56:31The only chance they have
00:56:32is maybe the fact
00:56:33that Ohio State
00:56:33is traveling to Seattle
00:56:35and they're tired
00:56:36or something.
00:56:36I don't know.
00:56:37I think this is a handle...
00:56:39They went handily.
00:56:40This is a...
00:56:42How good are they really
00:56:44game for Ohio State
00:56:45for me?
00:56:45For both teams, really.
00:56:47Yeah, true, true.
00:56:48I just think with Ohio State,
00:56:49I think it's like...
00:56:50I think they're going to win,
00:56:51and so for me,
00:56:51it's just like,
00:56:52by how much?
00:56:54How do they look?
00:56:54That's why I went
00:56:55with the touchdown parlay.
00:56:57Yeah, exactly, right?
00:56:57Stay away from the spread.
00:56:59Just wanted to see some points.
00:57:00Dana, if you were at this game,
00:57:01how many beers
00:57:02would you yug on the boats?
00:57:04In Seattle, you're saying?
00:57:06What does that matter?
00:57:07It does matter because...
00:57:08How does that matter at all?
00:57:09Elevation...
00:57:10Situational beers.
00:57:11Okay, say you're going
00:57:12to be in Seattle,
00:57:13Minneapolis,
00:57:14or Bozeman, Montana
00:57:15on Saturday.
00:57:16That changes the...
00:57:17Seattle has elevation.
00:57:19Also, I mean...
00:57:19No, it just doesn't.
00:57:21But Dana...
00:57:21It's right on the water, Dana.
00:57:23Stop, stop, stop.
00:57:24It has elevation, Brandon.
00:57:25You don't know
00:57:26what you're talking about.
00:57:26It's right on the water.
00:57:27You drink more beers
00:57:28than elevation.
00:57:28It's literally at sea level.
00:57:29Also, Dana, I mean...
00:57:31Boat beers.
00:57:32Boat beers are awesome.
00:57:33You drink way more beer.
00:57:35That's basic human math.
00:57:36They're like top eight beers.
00:57:37But do you think
00:57:38on a sailboat,
00:57:39I feel like you might want
00:57:39to drink like a sangria.
00:57:41Producer,
00:57:41what's Seattle's elevation?
00:57:43You are actually right.
00:57:44Maybe it's not
00:57:45on a sailboat, though.
00:57:45Maybe it's on like
00:57:46a nice like...
00:57:47A pontoon.
00:57:48I'm saying it's between...
00:57:49Pontoons are the
00:57:50premier beer boats.
00:57:51That's Louisiana
00:57:51and you're talking.
00:57:53I freaking agree.
00:57:55Seattle's elevation,
00:57:57148 feet.
00:57:59Okay, exactly.
00:58:00It's elevating
00:58:01Louisiana's undersea level.
00:58:03Boat beers
00:58:03are probably top eight beers.
00:58:05Oh, you just transitioned.
00:58:06Speaking of top eights,
00:58:07remember that in MySpace?
00:58:08Yes.
00:58:08Top eights?
00:58:09Yes.
00:58:09I had two friends
00:58:10in middle school
00:58:11that were twins.
00:58:12They were my best friends
00:58:14and I couldn't decide
00:58:15which one to put
00:58:15at one and two.
00:58:16Oh, no.
00:58:17It was an absolute disaster
00:58:18for years.
00:58:19But you gotta leave
00:58:20them both off.
00:58:20The Downies.
00:58:21Out to Ben and Brandon.
00:58:23I didn't know
00:58:23which one to put first.
00:58:25I decided with Ben
00:58:26but I liked them
00:58:26both the same.
00:58:27The Downies,
00:58:28poor Brandon.
00:58:28Obviously not, Dana.
00:58:30He's been dealing
00:58:30with the pain for years.
00:58:32So you went alphabetical.
00:58:33You went Ben
00:58:34over Brandon.
00:58:35I suppose, yeah.
00:58:36You didn't know
00:58:37that part, did you?
00:58:38Both great guys.
00:58:39Still friends with him?
00:58:40No.
00:58:41It didn't rip you apart?
00:58:42Well, I moved.
00:58:44It was a whole thing.
00:58:44All right, all right,
00:58:45we gotta go,
00:58:45we gotta go.
00:58:46All right, guys,
00:58:46speaking of top eight,
00:58:48we got some top eight
00:58:49coming up for you next
00:58:50as well as
00:58:51Shin Sanity.
00:58:54What's going on, y'all?
00:58:55Welcome back
00:58:56to Wake Up Barstool
00:58:57here on FS1.
00:58:58Brandon, my friend Rivers
00:58:59just sent me something
00:59:00that I think is a good omen
00:59:01for you this weekend.
00:59:03The people are calling it
00:59:04the Mississippi Miracle.
00:59:06Yes.
00:59:06What is it?
00:59:07The state of Mississippi
00:59:09on a fourth grade reading level
00:59:11that everybody gets graded on
00:59:12has climbed from 49th
00:59:15in the country
00:59:15to ninth.
00:59:17Wow.
00:59:18What is going on?
00:59:19Our fourth graders
00:59:19are kicking ass.
00:59:20I thought we were supposed
00:59:21to be together in this.
00:59:22Louisiana and Mississippi
00:59:23were just fighting
00:59:24over 49th.
00:59:25Were y'all just leaving us
00:59:26in the dust?
00:59:27Doing great things.
00:59:27I hope y'all lose, dude.
00:59:28I hope Tennessee
00:59:29whoops that ass
00:59:29in Starfle this weekend, dude.
00:59:31Because our kids can reach?
00:59:33Yeah!
00:59:33We had a deal.
00:59:34We were supposed to both
00:59:35be incompetent forever together.
00:59:36Hang out with Arkansas.
00:59:37Don't worry about us.
00:59:38God.
00:59:38They're probably still
00:59:39more obese than us right now.
00:59:41I don't know.
00:59:42Wait, hold on.
00:59:43You think that's actually true?
00:59:44I don't know if that's actually true.
00:59:44I guarantee you
00:59:45that one's true.
00:59:46Okay, good.
00:59:47Okay, good.
00:59:47We still got that.
00:59:48All right, guys.
00:59:50Sneaky great slate
00:59:51of Saturday games
00:59:53coming up.
00:59:54Well, Friday, actually,
00:59:55because that's what
00:59:55we're going to talk about here.
00:59:56Coming up tonight,
00:59:57two good ones to watch
00:59:58if you're a college football head.
01:00:00FSU at Virginia,
01:00:01Arizona State.
01:00:02Is it TCU at Arizona State?
01:00:04Excuse me.
01:00:04But let's start with Virginia.
01:00:06This game,
01:00:07I keep rubber banding back
01:00:09because at first
01:00:10it was obviously FSU.
01:00:11Then everybody in the office
01:00:12starts whispering,
01:00:13hey, actually, Virginia.
01:00:15But now there's so many whispers
01:00:16that I kind of found myself
01:00:18going back to Virginia here, Meg.
01:00:20It's the same kind of deal
01:00:21with that Oregon game.
01:00:24Everyone is so high
01:00:26on Oregon in the office.
01:00:27And then I went around,
01:00:28so all of the dogs
01:00:29that people picked out right
01:00:30were either Virginia
01:00:31or Oregon.
01:00:32Yep.
01:00:33That made me nervous
01:00:34because everyone being on them
01:00:36here usually doesn't translate well.
01:00:39So I stayed away from this game.
01:00:41We actually have like
01:00:42a pretty good representation
01:00:43of the general public
01:00:44in this office.
01:00:45I was the first whisper.
01:00:47I thought Liam was the first whisper.
01:00:49He was not
01:00:49because I picked Virginia
01:00:50as my surprise team
01:00:51in the ACC three months ago.
01:00:53You were the third whisper.
01:00:54I was the first whisper.
01:00:55I was the third person
01:00:56you came up to.
01:00:57I was the first whisper
01:00:58as far as Virginia
01:00:59winning this football game.
01:01:00I remember a night
01:01:01in the fall of 1995.
01:01:03Florida State had won
01:01:04278 straight games.
01:01:06They were number one team
01:01:07in the country.
01:01:08They had worked on
01:01:08in the backfield.
01:01:09They go to Virginia
01:01:10on a sleepy Thursday night
01:01:12and they get beat.
01:01:13Worked on on fourth and goal
01:01:14from the three-yard line.
01:01:16They do a direct snap to them.
01:01:16Doesn't make it.
01:01:17Virginia has the biggest win
01:01:19in their program's history.
01:01:21Tonight, Friday night,
01:01:2230 years after that fact,
01:01:24they're wearing
01:01:25the 1995 throwbacks.
01:01:26Oh.
01:01:27And it's going to happen again.
01:01:29I know you play uniforms.
01:01:30I love uniforms.
01:01:31I love uniforms.
01:01:321995 throwbacks.
01:01:34I didn't know this.
01:01:34From when they beat
01:01:35Florida State the first time,
01:01:37they're going to do it again.
01:01:38Virginia is sneaky.
01:01:39A pretty good team.
01:01:40Chandler Morris can quarterback.
01:01:42He made one mistake this year
01:01:43and they lost a fluke game
01:01:45to NC State.
01:01:45They should not have lost that game.
01:01:46He was going in to win the game.
01:01:48He had a crosser
01:01:49in front of him for a touchdown.
01:01:50He had a fade
01:01:51that was going to be an interception.
01:01:52He chose the fade
01:01:53and he shouldn't have,
01:01:55but he is a good quarterback.
01:01:56He's a great quarterback.
01:01:57And I believe Virginia
01:01:58is going to beat
01:01:58Florida State tonight.
01:01:59I guess the only thing
01:02:01that's holding me back
01:02:02is,
01:02:03and immediately I haven't
01:02:04watched either of these teams
01:02:05as closely,
01:02:06not since that Bama game
01:02:06for FSU,
01:02:08but that D line
01:02:09did look so overwhelming
01:02:10in the Bama game.
01:02:11Can Chandler Morris
01:02:12survive that?
01:02:13Do the 95 unis
01:02:14put you on Virginia, Dana?
01:02:15Does that change the analysis?
01:02:16I'm going to tell me,
01:02:17I can't say that
01:02:18in the last name.
01:02:19Castellanos?
01:02:19It's either Llanos or Llanos.
01:02:20I know, I know.
01:02:21I just say either.
01:02:22It doesn't matter.
01:02:23It's like Genghis Khan, Genghis Khan.
01:02:24I'm going to tell me Castellanos,
01:02:25Llanos, Stan.
01:02:27I love the way
01:02:28he plays quarterback.
01:02:29I love the way he runs.
01:02:31I unfortunately disagree
01:02:32with Brandon here
01:02:33because I love Brandon
01:02:34and he has great hair.
01:02:36Another fun fact
01:02:37about Virginia,
01:02:38Tony Bennett
01:02:39looks like my dad.
01:02:41Does he?
01:02:42Those are great fun facts.
01:02:43Yes, big time.
01:02:44It's crazy.
01:02:45Are those keeping dragging out?
01:02:46Tony Bennett's no longer employed.
01:02:47I know,
01:02:48but he was the coach
01:02:48of basketball team
01:02:49at one point.
01:02:50Yeah, yeah.
01:02:51And they were very good.
01:02:52And what about it, right?
01:02:53From a betting perspective,
01:02:55ACC opener,
01:02:56Miami on deck.
01:02:57It does seem like
01:02:58this could be a hairy cop
01:02:59for Virginia.
01:03:00Fridays get weird.
01:03:01Fridays get weird.
01:03:02They get real weird.
01:03:03And then the other one here
01:03:04is TCU hitting the road
01:03:05at Arizona State.
01:03:07As Megan talked about earlier,
01:03:08this is normally a line
01:03:09that gamblers wouldn't like.
01:03:11You know,
01:03:11a ranked TCU team
01:03:12coming in as the dog.
01:03:15But there is enough
01:03:17to like about TCU
01:03:18and Meg,
01:03:19Hoover and that passing attack
01:03:21seem very well positioned
01:03:23to take care
01:03:24or to take advantage
01:03:25of a leaky
01:03:26Arizona State pasty.
01:03:29Yeah,
01:03:29I'm already on TCU
01:03:31plus a three.
01:03:31I gave my breakdown earlier.
01:03:33Well, you're all wrong.
01:03:34That's fine, Brandon.
01:03:35You're all wrong.
01:03:36You might be the number one
01:03:37college football personality,
01:03:40but I'm the gambler.
01:03:41So you can sit in that seat
01:03:42and I'll sit there
01:03:43and you can just
01:03:44hush your little mouth.
01:03:44She went 5-1 last week,
01:03:45bro.
01:03:45What'd you get?
01:03:46That's great.
01:03:46I don't know.
01:03:47You're wrong
01:03:47because Arizona State
01:03:49got dinged too much
01:03:50for losing to Mississippi State.
01:03:51At Mississippi State,
01:03:52they lost in the final minute.
01:03:54Bias.
01:03:54No, no, they did.
01:03:55They got dinged way too much
01:03:56for losing that game.
01:03:58Now tonight,
01:03:59it's in the desert.
01:04:00It's at home.
01:04:01They had a big win
01:04:02against Baylor last week.
01:04:03Baylor's a solid football team.
01:04:04They went on the road
01:04:05and beat Baylor.
01:04:06TCU is good.
01:04:07I like TCU.
01:04:08I think there's four teams
01:04:10that stand above the rest
01:04:11in the Big 12.
01:04:11Two of them are in this game.
01:04:12The other two played
01:04:13last week in Utah.
01:04:15I think Arizona State wins here.
01:04:16I think Arizona State has been...
01:04:18Is this one of them?
01:04:18Can I ask you,
01:04:19were you on Utah
01:04:20or Texas Tech last week?
01:04:21I was on Texas Tech
01:04:22to thump them.
01:04:23Okay, me too.
01:04:23Just wanted to make sure.
01:04:24All right.
01:04:25Don't know why
01:04:25you're making the competition.
01:04:26We're simply talking ball here, man.
01:04:28No, no, no.
01:04:29Because you told us we were wrong.
01:04:30So she's telling you you're wrong.
01:04:31Oh, well, she was wrong
01:04:32and you're wrong.
01:04:33It's Arizona State.
01:04:34In sports, in war.
01:04:36We're going to find out.
01:04:37And to be clear,
01:04:39my TCU pick's not about
01:04:40dinging Arizona State.
01:04:41It's about believing in TCU
01:04:42and Hoover and, well,
01:04:44if Eric McAllister could do
01:04:45even a modicum
01:04:47of what he did last week.
01:04:48Ranked team is a road underdog.
01:04:50It's just a...
01:04:50She knows.
01:04:51It's a terrifying spot.
01:04:52I understand, but I do like
01:04:54this TCU team.
01:04:55I think they're a very complete team.
01:04:57And again, he said Big Ev's on it.
01:04:59I trust Big Ev, too.
01:05:00I like Big Ev's logic behind things.
01:05:03All right, let's go this.
01:05:04Let's just give one team
01:05:05that's going to be outside
01:05:05the top 15 that we think
01:05:06we can make the playoffs
01:05:07while we're playing
01:05:08with this idea of sneaky teams.
01:05:10Not due to Tennessee,
01:05:11they're at 15.
01:05:13Brandon, do you have anybody
01:05:15that could rise all the way up here?
01:05:17I have a sneaky team
01:05:18to make the playoff
01:05:19and I have a super mega sneaky team
01:05:20to make the playoff.
01:05:21Okay, start with your sneaky.
01:05:23It is the Missouri Tigers
01:05:25at number 20.
01:05:26I called them to make the playoff
01:05:27to begin the season.
01:05:28I see nothing to change that fact.
01:05:30Their schedule is very manageable
01:05:32in the SEC.
01:05:32They've got one
01:05:33of the favorable schedules.
01:05:34They have the best running back
01:05:36in the country in Ahmad Hardy.
01:05:37They have a very good quarterback,
01:05:39a top 10 quarterback
01:05:39in Bo Perbula.
01:05:40Kevin Coleman's a great receiver.
01:05:41The tight end North Fleet's very good.
01:05:43This is an offense
01:05:44that's good at every single position
01:05:45and their schedule is set up
01:05:47for them to go 10-2
01:05:47even if they're not very good.
01:05:49So I love Missouri
01:05:51to make the playoff
01:05:51and my super mega sneaky team
01:05:53to make the playoff.
01:05:55The Auburn Tigers.
01:05:57Woo!
01:05:57Woo!
01:05:58Auburn, woo!
01:05:58You're wrong about that one.
01:05:59Outside the top 25.
01:06:01I do like the shot, though.
01:06:02The Auburn Tigers
01:06:03went on the road last week
01:06:04and did everything
01:06:05but beat Oklahoma.
01:06:06It took the Oklahoma governor,
01:06:07the National Guard,
01:06:08and the officials
01:06:09to keep Auburn
01:06:10from winning that game.
01:06:12Auburn is better
01:06:13than people think.
01:06:14And they have to go to A&M
01:06:15and win this weekend.
01:06:16I think they very well can.
01:06:18And then they would have to beat,
01:06:19they would have to split
01:06:20Georgia and Alabama.
01:06:21The schedule is tough,
01:06:22but I think Jackson Arnold
01:06:23is solid.
01:06:24I think those receivers
01:06:25are great.
01:06:26I think that team is great
01:06:28outside of Jackson Arnold
01:06:29who is just pretty good.
01:06:31And if he can raise his level
01:06:32a little bit,
01:06:34I think this is a playoff caliber team
01:06:36that now is pissed off
01:06:38that they lost that game
01:06:39that they shouldn't have lost last week.
01:06:40I actually,
01:06:41this will be some real
01:06:43Balstradamus knowledge.
01:06:45If you end up threading this needle,
01:06:47I mean, they're not even
01:06:48favored this weekend.
01:06:48You said sneaky.
01:06:50Yeah, no, you said sneaky.
01:06:51I agree.
01:06:52I like it.
01:06:52By the way,
01:06:54yeah, I guess we're too deep
01:06:56in the force,
01:06:56but like Mizzou,
01:06:58we've been pretty consistently
01:06:59calling a playoff team
01:07:00for the entire year.
01:07:01So they have to get the jump,
01:07:02but once they pass
01:07:02that Kansas test,
01:07:04the table is set.
01:07:05You're still number 20, though.
01:07:06No, I'm not.
01:07:07Sorry, I'm not coming
01:07:07after your pick.
01:07:08I'm just saying like
01:07:09I agree with it wholly and fully.
01:07:10Yeah.
01:07:11And Eli Drinkwitz
01:07:12has built something
01:07:13really consistent
01:07:14and really good there.
01:07:15All right.
01:07:16Let's go ahead
01:07:17and go to break.
01:07:17And when we get back
01:07:19here on Wake Up Barstool,
01:07:20we'll go around the office,
01:07:22see what everybody's
01:07:22going to be watching,
01:07:23what will we be watching,
01:07:24talk a little Big Noon,
01:07:26and we got our weekend picks
01:07:27coming up later
01:07:28in the show as well.
01:07:30You're watching
01:07:31Wake Up Barstool
01:07:32on FS1.
01:07:35Skillet, skillet, skillet, skillet.
01:07:38And look at that graphic, guys.
01:07:41An unreal weekend of sports.
01:07:44Okay, so Ryder Cup's
01:07:45already going down right now.
01:07:46I have a funny story
01:07:47about that in a second.
01:07:49But at noon tomorrow,
01:07:50you got Big Noon,
01:07:51USC, Illinois,
01:07:52that afternoon slate.
01:07:53You got LSU, Ole Miss,
01:07:54Alabama, Georgia,
01:07:56and Oregon, Penn State
01:07:57going head-to-head
01:07:58Saturday night.
01:07:58And then on Sunday,
01:08:00more Ryder Cup,
01:08:01MLB closing day.
01:08:03All 30 teams play.
01:08:05A ton of storylines
01:08:06in play there.
01:08:07And you got Eagles, Bucks,
01:08:09Raven Chiefs,
01:08:10and Packers, Cowboys.
01:08:12Mwah, mwah, mwah.
01:08:14I tell my kids
01:08:15every single night,
01:08:16okay,
01:08:17we try to live
01:08:17by the core four.
01:08:19Right?
01:08:19The core four.
01:08:20Sure.
01:08:22There's five of you.
01:08:23Love,
01:08:24gratitude,
01:08:25forgiveness,
01:08:26and treating others
01:08:27the correct way.
01:08:28Gratitude, guys.
01:08:29Be grateful
01:08:30that we live in a time
01:08:31where we get to have
01:08:32a weekend like this.
01:08:34Give everybody
01:08:34a big kiss on the cheek
01:08:35this weekend.
01:08:36We all deserve it.
01:08:37This is awesome.
01:08:38This is like Christmas
01:08:39here in the fall,
01:08:40kind of before the fall.
01:08:41Wait,
01:08:41what are you most excited
01:08:42about in that slate?
01:08:44It's as loaded
01:08:45a sports weekend
01:08:45as I can remember.
01:08:47Yep.
01:08:48I guess I'm just,
01:08:49as an SEC guy,
01:08:50I'm excited for the SEC
01:08:51to really begin
01:08:52to take shape
01:08:53because LSU,
01:08:53Ole Miss,
01:08:54and Alabama,
01:08:55Georgia are two
01:08:55of the bigger SEC games
01:08:57you can have.
01:08:57We're having them
01:08:58before September ends.
01:09:00I'm excited to see
01:09:01Tennessee and Mississippi State.
01:09:02I'm excited to see
01:09:03SEC football unfold.
01:09:04Now,
01:09:05there is a sneaky one here
01:09:06because I do think
01:09:07this last week of baseball
01:09:08has quietly been elite.
01:09:10I know,
01:09:11and we haven't even,
01:09:12we've been overwhelmed
01:09:13with football here.
01:09:14Yeah,
01:09:14like can Cal Raleigh
01:09:15break the American League
01:09:16home run record
01:09:16that Yankees fans
01:09:17made such a big deal of
01:09:18over the last couple years?
01:09:19Do you think they'll come in
01:09:20for a live at-bat for Cal?
01:09:22Remember when they were
01:09:23breaking in in 2022
01:09:24when Aaron Judge
01:09:24was breaking the record
01:09:25and the Yankees fans
01:09:26were like,
01:09:26oh,
01:09:26it's so important,
01:09:27so important,
01:09:27and now that they would
01:09:28have to watch it happen
01:09:29to them,
01:09:30it would be delicious.
01:09:30Oh,
01:09:30that'd be glorious.
01:09:31Eat it,
01:09:32Wyatt,
01:09:32you bum.
01:09:33It would be great.
01:09:36Dana,
01:09:36what are you most excited about?
01:09:37It's not the most popular answer.
01:09:39As a matter of fact,
01:09:40it's probably the least
01:09:41popular answer.
01:09:41You're going to say
01:09:42the skillet.
01:09:42No,
01:09:42no,
01:09:43no,
01:09:43but I have to answer
01:09:45with my heart
01:09:46because if I had to
01:09:47choose one thing,
01:09:48it'd be the New England
01:09:48Patriots and the
01:09:49Carolina Panthers
01:09:50because that's just,
01:09:51I'm a diehard fan.
01:09:52Come on,
01:09:53Dana.
01:09:55If you're telling me
01:09:56gunned ahead,
01:09:57what do I care about
01:09:59the most?
01:09:59It's the Patriots.
01:10:01The best part about it
01:10:02is it's a deeply,
01:10:04it's a deeply
01:10:05unappealing game.
01:10:07Like,
01:10:07like of all the teams
01:10:08the Patriots could play,
01:10:10the Panthers would probably
01:10:11be in the top five
01:10:12most boring possible.
01:10:14Yes,
01:10:14it's downright offensive.
01:10:15It's going to be a horrible game,
01:10:16but if you told me
01:10:17you get one thing to watch,
01:10:18it's truly the thing
01:10:19I care about the most.
01:10:21Okay,
01:10:21what would you,
01:10:22what would you,
01:10:22what?
01:10:23Number two is the Bearcats?
01:10:25I see where's the Red Sox at.
01:10:26There's no way,
01:10:27dude.
01:10:27I love my Bearcats.
01:10:30Scott Satterfield's a bad coach,
01:10:31but he's a nice guy.
01:10:33I met him once.
01:10:34Hold up the Skyline Chili sweater.
01:10:36Let him know,
01:10:37dude.
01:10:37Let him know.
01:10:38I've never had Skyline Chili.
01:10:40I really,
01:10:40Kansas is a basketball school.
01:10:42They are not cut out
01:10:43for this electric offense
01:10:46led by Brendan Soresby.
01:10:47That sweatshirt whipped him.
01:10:49Yeah,
01:10:49yeah,
01:10:49he could not,
01:10:50he could not figure it out.
01:10:50That sweatshirt for a second.
01:10:52Well,
01:10:52to be fair,
01:10:53it does kind of like,
01:10:54yeah,
01:10:54it messes with your eyes.
01:10:55It never starts and ends.
01:10:56But if I wasn't obligated
01:10:58to watch the Patriots,
01:11:00it would be the Ryder Cup for me.
01:11:02Oh,
01:11:02I know you're a golf guy.
01:11:03Oh,
01:11:03yeah.
01:11:04But it's tough
01:11:04because today,
01:11:06for instance,
01:11:07we have McIntyre
01:11:08and Victor Hovland,
01:11:08two extremely likable guys.
01:11:10They're on the bad side.
01:11:12We have Patrick Cantlay
01:11:13who's just the worst.
01:11:15But he's American,
01:11:16so we got to root for him.
01:11:18I love him.
01:11:19Is Patrick Cantlay the worst?
01:11:20It takes forever,
01:11:21I know.
01:11:22That is the part I just,
01:11:23You just can't handle it.
01:11:24I can't respect a guy
01:11:25that takes 40 seconds
01:11:27to step up to the ball.
01:11:28I'm sorry.
01:11:29But USA.
01:11:30USA.
01:11:30But today we respect him.
01:11:31This weekend we respect him.
01:11:32I'm rooting for him,
01:11:32but I'm just saying
01:11:33he's going against
01:11:33two really likable guys.
01:11:35I don't think any of the European guys
01:11:36are actually bad guys.
01:11:38No,
01:11:38no,
01:11:38no.
01:11:38No,
01:11:38did you see Roy's quote
01:11:39about America?
01:11:41It was awesome.
01:11:42It was more American
01:11:43than anything
01:11:43from the American team said.
01:11:45What did he say?
01:11:46He basically just said
01:11:47that America's
01:11:48an incredible land of opportunity,
01:11:50the best country in the world,
01:11:52that his wife's American,
01:11:53his daughter's American,
01:11:54and how thankful he is
01:11:55to be able to raise
01:11:56his family in America.
01:11:57He was glazing America.
01:11:59Nice.
01:12:00Oh, wow.
01:12:00Little U.S. glaze.
01:12:01Just buttering us up.
01:12:02Out of Rory.
01:12:03Yeah, I know.
01:12:04Crafty.
01:12:05It is funny.
01:12:06A couple guys back in control
01:12:07are massive golf fans,
01:12:08and I asked him
01:12:09how the Ryder Cup was going.
01:12:11He was like,
01:12:11oh, yeah,
01:12:11you know,
01:12:11it's pretty even.
01:12:13I was like,
01:12:14oh, okay,
01:12:14yeah,
01:12:14what's going on?
01:12:15You know,
01:12:15yeah,
01:12:16two of the matches
01:12:16are going terribly,
01:12:18two are going okay,
01:12:20we're losing in three
01:12:20of the four.
01:12:21I'm like,
01:12:21wait,
01:12:22hold on a second.
01:12:23That doesn't sound
01:12:24even at all.
01:12:25I think you let your bias
01:12:27take over in that analysis.
01:12:28It's early yet.
01:12:29It's early yet.
01:12:30It is early yet.
01:12:31We play all 18
01:12:32here on these shores,
01:12:35Europe.
01:12:36Megan?
01:12:37I think they play
01:12:38all 18 in Europe, too.
01:12:39Nope, nope,
01:12:40nope,
01:12:40they don't.
01:12:41Okay, sorry.
01:12:41They play 16 holes in Europe.
01:12:43Yeah,
01:12:43little known fact.
01:12:45Little known fact.
01:12:46Meg,
01:12:46I can't imagine,
01:12:47what are you most excited
01:12:48for this weekend?
01:12:49If my outfit doesn't tell you,
01:12:51then I don't really
01:12:52know what to say.
01:12:53You had to do a choice two.
01:12:55Okay,
01:12:55I was going to say,
01:12:56choice two,
01:12:57it's not going to be
01:12:58like a must-watch game
01:13:00for anyone,
01:13:01but I really like
01:13:02UCF this weekend,
01:13:03and I think they could win
01:13:04outright in the Little Apple.
01:13:06I know K-State
01:13:06had a bye week,
01:13:08but they shouldn't be
01:13:09laying points
01:13:09against anyone right now.
01:13:11I'm kind of excited
01:13:12for that game.
01:13:13I've already placed
01:13:13a money line bet
01:13:14on UCF.
01:13:16Yeah,
01:13:16I think Scott Frost
01:13:17has this team
01:13:18playing good ball.
01:13:19Scott,
01:13:20that's a sentence
01:13:21that has not been
01:13:22under in a long time.
01:13:25Brandon,
01:13:25where are we at
01:13:25in the Alex Grinch meter?
01:13:27For those that don't know,
01:13:28Alex Grinch somehow
01:13:28ended up as the
01:13:29D coordinator at UCF.
01:13:31So,
01:13:31they're,
01:13:31I mean,
01:13:32they've started
01:13:32the season well,
01:13:33you know,
01:13:34they've started,
01:13:34but I do think
01:13:35this is one of those
01:13:37where the eyes
01:13:38will trick you
01:13:39where you've got
01:13:39a one in three
01:13:40Kansas State,
01:13:41I believe.
01:13:41Yeah.
01:13:42A one in three
01:13:42Kansas State
01:13:43and undefeated UCF,
01:13:44and I feel like
01:13:46the odds makers,
01:13:47this is one of those
01:13:48where they're flexing on us,
01:13:49where they're saying,
01:13:50your eyes tell you one thing,
01:13:51but I'm telling you
01:13:52something else,
01:13:53and I choose to listen.
01:13:54I mean,
01:13:54I don't hate her logic.
01:13:55I'm not convinced
01:13:56Avery Johnson
01:13:56can, like,
01:13:57finish a drive.
01:13:58I don't think
01:13:58they're that good.
01:13:59He doesn't.
01:14:00They're quite bad,
01:14:01actually.
01:14:02I like UCF
01:14:03in this spot.
01:14:04They don't run an offense
01:14:05that highlights
01:14:06his skill set.
01:14:08Like,
01:14:08he would be great
01:14:09in, like,
01:14:09the Georgia Tech,
01:14:10Buster Faulkner offense,
01:14:11but then also,
01:14:12I don't think
01:14:13he wants that smoke
01:14:14like Haynes King does.
01:14:16Right.
01:14:16So, like,
01:14:16he doesn't highlight
01:14:17his own skill set
01:14:18in a lot of ways.
01:14:20They are the most
01:14:21disappointing team
01:14:22in the country.
01:14:22Yeah, easily.
01:14:23I mean,
01:14:24they were big 12 favorites.
01:14:25Also,
01:14:26coach for K-State
01:14:27has a losing record
01:14:28off a bye.
01:14:30Cleman does?
01:14:30Yeah.
01:14:31Cleman.
01:14:31Is it Cleman or Climmon?
01:14:32Cleman?
01:14:33Climmon.
01:14:33That's what I thought.
01:14:34Climmon.
01:14:34Well, you know,
01:14:35who else is climbing?
01:14:36You two gotta dedicate
01:14:37yourselves to names.
01:14:38You're scared of Castellanos?
01:14:39You're scared of climbing?
01:14:40No, I'm not scared of climbing
01:14:42because these shows
01:14:42ratings are climbing
01:14:43just like Big Noon's
01:14:45kickoffs are.
01:14:46Going down this weekend
01:14:48in Champaign.
01:14:49Catch the college football,
01:14:50the Barstow College
01:14:51football show there.
01:14:52And then,
01:14:52on the big stage,
01:14:54Brandon and Casey
01:14:54will be holding it down
01:14:55with the Fox team.
01:14:57Let's go ahead
01:14:57and go to break.
01:14:58And when we get back,
01:15:00guys,
01:15:00we are going to do
01:15:01our picks once again.
01:15:03Myself,
01:15:03Brandon,
01:15:04and Big Cat.
01:15:04Big Cat are involved
01:15:05in a year-season-long
01:15:07pick competition.
01:15:08Do we have
01:15:09Big Cat's picks?
01:15:10I'm guessing, yeah.
01:15:11Good.
01:15:12Yeah, we do.
01:15:12I just got confirmed
01:15:13by Control.
01:15:14So keep it locked
01:15:15if you want to see
01:15:16those picks next
01:15:17on FS1.
01:15:19Yay!
01:15:22God, that music
01:15:23just does something
01:15:24to your soul.
01:15:24Welcome back
01:15:25to Wake Up Barstool
01:15:26here on FS1.
01:15:27It is time
01:15:28to give out
01:15:29our picks
01:15:30once again.
01:15:31So normally,
01:15:32Big Cat sits in here
01:15:33on the second hour.
01:15:35Dana,
01:15:35you will be playing
01:15:36the role of Big Cat
01:15:37today.
01:15:37He has picks.
01:15:38Okay.
01:15:38But as you can see,
01:15:40a perfectly
01:15:42mediocre start
01:15:44to the season.
01:15:45Brandon leads away
01:15:45at 5-5,
01:15:46Big Cat 4-6,
01:15:47myself 4-5-1.
01:15:48Thanks to that safety
01:15:49last week,
01:15:51putting Meg
01:15:52over the top,
01:15:52putting me below,
01:15:53Brandon.
01:15:53You know what
01:15:55they say,
01:15:56age before beauty.
01:15:58Brandon,
01:15:58take us away.
01:16:00Hmm.
01:16:01All right,
01:16:02so here's my picks.
01:16:03I am leading
01:16:04this show
01:16:04as I always do.
01:16:06What?
01:16:06He had no riposte,
01:16:07you had no counter.
01:16:08No, I had nothing.
01:16:08I had nothing,
01:16:09I was fine with it.
01:16:10I am the oldest
01:16:11and the worst looking.
01:16:12So,
01:16:12here are my picks.
01:16:13We have Auburn,
01:16:15plus 6-5 at Texas A&M.
01:16:16I didn't call them
01:16:17a super mega sneaky
01:16:18playoff team for nothing.
01:16:19I think they are
01:16:20a good,
01:16:21solid football team
01:16:22that got hosed last week.
01:16:24I think that's what
01:16:24happened at Oklahoma
01:16:25and I don't think,
01:16:26yeah?
01:16:27I know you're not
01:16:28doing this for
01:16:29this competition
01:16:30because it makes sense
01:16:31to take the points,
01:16:32but if you were betting
01:16:32this game personally,
01:16:33are you just going
01:16:34straight money line then?
01:16:35No,
01:16:36I'm betting that
01:16:36I think it's going
01:16:37to be a close game.
01:16:37I think I will take
01:16:38the safety net
01:16:39of the 6.5 points.
01:16:40I think it's going
01:16:42to be close throughout.
01:16:43I like Virginia
01:16:43tonight against Florida State.
01:16:45It's 7 now,
01:16:46but I like Virginia
01:16:46plus 6.5 against Florida State.
01:16:48I would lean
01:16:50toward money line
01:16:51right there.
01:16:51I like Ole Miss
01:16:53to beat LSU.
01:16:54I don't like it.
01:16:55You guys know
01:16:55I don't like it.
01:16:56I hate it.
01:16:58Lane Kiffin's been
01:16:58waiting for this day
01:16:59for 365 days.
01:17:01They lost a game
01:17:01at LSU.
01:17:02They probably shouldn't
01:17:02have lost last year.
01:17:03They were the better team.
01:17:04Now LSU's probably
01:17:05slightly the better team
01:17:06and Lane Kiffin
01:17:07didn't get lucky
01:17:08because he went out
01:17:08and found the guy,
01:17:09but it makes me sick.
01:17:10It makes me sick
01:17:11that Austin Simmons
01:17:11wasn't off to a good
01:17:12start at quarterback
01:17:13and they fell into
01:17:14Trinidad Chambliss
01:17:15who's been excellent
01:17:16since he got in there.
01:17:17I think Ole Miss
01:17:17wins at home.
01:17:18Browns plus 10
01:17:19against the Lions.
01:17:20I just think the defense
01:17:21keeps it closer
01:17:22than 10 points.
01:17:23And I like Pitt
01:17:23at home against Louisville.
01:17:25Pitt has a very good
01:17:26quarterback,
01:17:26very good receiver,
01:17:27very good running back.
01:17:28I don't love
01:17:29this Louisville team.
01:17:30I like a lot of dogs,
01:17:31a lot of six and a half
01:17:32point dogs this week.
01:17:33I love the Pitt pick.
01:17:35I don't have it on mine.
01:17:36I think it might be
01:17:37our underdog parlay
01:17:38on roughness,
01:17:39but yeah,
01:17:40I completely agree.
01:17:41Eli Holstein,
01:17:43again,
01:17:44people are probably
01:17:44dinging the Panthers
01:17:45a little too hard
01:17:46for that loss
01:17:46to West Virginia.
01:17:47That's a classic rivalry,
01:17:49throw the stats out game.
01:17:50Holstein's still awesome.
01:17:52Dana,
01:17:52what did you think
01:17:53about Brandon's picks?
01:17:53Hold on,
01:17:54I'll take a picture
01:17:54of the screen.
01:17:55It says Brandon leads
01:17:55a Friday picture.
01:17:56I want to go ahead
01:17:57and interject for a second.
01:17:58I was looking at the records
01:18:00and it looked like
01:18:01you all had about
01:18:0210 picks each
01:18:02and I also have had,
01:18:04I'm 8-2,
01:18:05so I just wanted
01:18:06to throw that out there.
01:18:06Guys,
01:18:06we got to throw Megan.
01:18:07We got to throw Megan.
01:18:08We got to throw Megan.
01:18:08It's not in the competition.
01:18:09We got to throw Megan
01:18:10on the graphic.
01:18:11We have to throw Megan.
01:18:12I want you guys
01:18:13to fight amongst yourself.
01:18:14I will make the people
01:18:16money at home.
01:18:17Yes,
01:18:17Megan has to be
01:18:18in the graphic.
01:18:19It's the bearded
01:18:19gentleman competition.
01:18:21Yeah,
01:18:21well,
01:18:22Megan,
01:18:22just put on a beard then.
01:18:23I'll go upside down.
01:18:25She is 8-2
01:18:26and we're all 500 or under.
01:18:29Upside down.
01:18:31Goodness gracious.
01:18:33That took me
01:18:34entirely too long
01:18:35to get there.
01:18:36Still don't get it.
01:18:36What next pick?
01:18:37Oh, God.
01:18:40All right,
01:18:41can y'all put
01:18:42Big Cat's picks up?
01:18:43Am I acting as Big Cat?
01:18:44You're going to act as Big Cat,
01:18:45yes.
01:18:45I'll give you a fun fact
01:18:46for each.
01:18:47Big Cat's up on the screen there.
01:18:48All right,
01:18:49Dana,
01:18:49take it away.
01:18:49Notre Dame,
01:18:50Arkansas,
01:18:51over 63 and a half.
01:18:53My uncles went to Notre Dame,
01:18:55fun fact.
01:18:57Alabama,
01:18:58Georgia,
01:18:58over 53 and a half.
01:19:00I love that out of Big Cat.
01:19:01That's going to be a shootout.
01:19:03Do I have a fun fact
01:19:03for this one?
01:19:04You didn't have a fun fact
01:19:05for the first one.
01:19:05You got drunk in Alabama.
01:19:07I did get drunk in Alabama.
01:19:08Okay,
01:19:08there you go.
01:19:09That's pretty fun.
01:19:09And Megan did an Oklahoma drill
01:19:12against somebody in the dirt.
01:19:13Wow.
01:19:14I think you won.
01:19:14Yeah,
01:19:15she's trying to start hitting me.
01:19:16That was,
01:19:16she obviously didn't.
01:19:17And then you didn't,
01:19:18you didn't go to the game.
01:19:19Shout out,
01:19:19Fred's.
01:19:20Yeah.
01:19:20Ah,
01:19:21yeah.
01:19:21I love that pick out of Big Cat.
01:19:23I think that's going to be a winner.
01:19:24And we got NFL games here.
01:19:26Jaguars at 49ers.
01:19:28Fun fact,
01:19:29my wife's a 49ers fan.
01:19:31Huh.
01:19:31Plus three and a half,
01:19:34the Jags.
01:19:34Love that out of them.
01:19:35I think the Jags are a sneaky,
01:19:38underrated team.
01:19:39Could go to three and one
01:19:40with a straight up win in that one.
01:19:43Then we got the Vikings in London.
01:19:45Two and a half against the Steelers.
01:19:47Aaron Rodgers stinks.
01:19:49Dublin.
01:19:49The Steelers.
01:19:50Dublin.
01:19:50Is it Dublin?
01:19:51Dublin.
01:19:52I just assumed it was London.
01:19:53It's all the same thing.
01:19:53Across the pond.
01:19:55Bro,
01:19:55it's no,
01:19:56Dana,
01:19:56I'm going to back you up.
01:19:57It's all the same.
01:19:57I saw a 930.
01:19:58I assumed it was somewhere in London.
01:20:00Okay.
01:20:01Two and a half.
01:20:03The Steelers are really bad.
01:20:05They should have gotten crushed
01:20:06by the Patriots.
01:20:07Then we have the over
01:20:08in the Titans-Texas game.
01:20:0938 and a half.
01:20:10That's a very low total.
01:20:1138 and a half.
01:20:12Disgusting game.
01:20:13Cedric Stroud is Mac Jones.
01:20:16So,
01:20:16I don't love that pick out of Big Cat.
01:20:18All right.
01:20:18Got a little over a minute left
01:20:20for my picks.
01:20:21Let's go ahead and throw these up, guys.
01:20:23I'm going Notre Dame
01:20:24minus four and a half
01:20:25at Arkansas.
01:20:26I think Arkansas is getting
01:20:26too much love here.
01:20:27I think Notre Dame's
01:20:28a way better program.
01:20:29Arkansas is a bad team.
01:20:29Finally lose.
01:20:30I like C.J. Carr.
01:20:32LSU money line at Ole Miss
01:20:33because you already know
01:20:34what it is, man.
01:20:35You already know.
01:20:36Okay.
01:20:36It's the Ole Miss Rebels
01:20:38and it's them Tigers
01:20:38and it's always
01:20:39about them Tigers.
01:20:42Georgia minus three.
01:20:43Keeps serve against Alabama
01:20:45at home.
01:20:46All the stats about
01:20:47Alabama versus Georgia.
01:20:48Nick Saban ain't walking
01:20:49through that door.
01:20:51Brandon,
01:20:51completely agree with you.
01:20:52The Browns logic
01:20:53was super simple, right?
01:20:54It's just maybe the best defense
01:20:56in the NFL.
01:20:57If you're going to give me
01:20:5810 with the best defense,
01:20:59they just managed to beat
01:21:00the Packers,
01:21:01who if we wanted to do
01:21:02the very flawed,
01:21:04what is it?
01:21:07The, thank you.
01:21:08Transitive property, Jeremy.
01:21:10Then, yes.
01:21:11Then, obviously,
01:21:12this looks good.
01:21:13And then Colts plus three
01:21:14and I have the Rams.
01:21:15You see it right here.
01:21:16Bum, ba-dum, ba-dum.
01:21:17Bum, ba-dum.
01:21:18Indiana Jones, too.
01:21:19I love it.
01:21:19That's what that is?
01:21:20Yeah.
01:21:20That song?
01:21:21That song?
01:21:21Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:21:21Wow.
01:21:22It's Raiders March.
01:21:23Maybe it's John Williams.
01:21:24It's John Williams.
01:21:25Bum, ba-dum, ba-dum.
01:21:26Bum, ba-dum.
01:21:28There you go.
01:21:28Bum, ba-dum, ba-dum.
01:21:30Bum, ba-dum.
01:21:31Da, da, da.
01:21:32There we go.
01:21:32Careful.
01:21:33What, are we going to get
01:21:33copyright?
01:21:34Because my voice is so sonorous
01:21:36and beautiful
01:21:36and on key.
01:21:38Guys, thank you so much, Brandon.
01:21:40We'll look up sonorous
01:21:41later, Dana.
01:21:41Dana Pierce.
01:21:43Megan making money.
01:21:44Eight and two.
01:21:45Actually winning
01:21:46the pit competition.
01:21:47Massive thank you
01:21:48to our keeper of the studio here,
01:21:49Karce,
01:21:49and everybody back in control.
