00:00:00Oh, what's up y'all? Happy Friday. Wake up, Barcelona. We got a great show planned for you today. Okay, guys, we got to recap Thursday night football and preview a surprisingly great week three of the NFL. A ton of excellent college games to get to as well. Michael Cady is going to take us in the film room. We got Chief joining the show. We got Megan making money's money corner and myself, Big Cat and Brandon going toe to toe with our five best plays of the weekend. Let's get it started on FS1.
00:00:30What up, y'all? Welcome in. Wake up, Barcelona. It is Friday. We are in Chicago. It is a beautiful day and we're getting ready for a beautiful football weekend. T-Bob Hebert, Michael Cady,
00:01:00Cady. We got Chief first time on the show. What's up, Chief? Welcome, my friend. Happy to be here. Thanks for having me. And we have one of my favorites, Megan making money behind the glass, holding down, giving us picks, everything today. Look, guys, it's going to be an excellent show today. Put a smile on your face. It's Friday. Let's grab a coffee. Let's get some good vibes going into the weekend. Cady's got his Hoosier shirt on. Massive game coming up in Bloomington.
00:01:30We're getting ready for the show, getting ready for the show. And I noticed a pile of detritus in front of him.
00:01:38Here we go with the words again. Empty wrappers stacked up and I started to parse through them.
00:01:43This man, at 6.20 a.m., had not one, not two, but three pieces of string cheese.
00:01:50Mike, that's an insane amount of string cheese before we've even reached 6.30.
00:01:55You know, T-Bob, I walk into this office every morning and I grab three minimum.
00:01:59No, that's clean protein.
00:02:01Every day. It's like a hard-boiled egg.
00:02:03Six grams of protein, maybe a little higher on the calories, but it probably goes all to my double chin.
00:02:10Oh, man. I'm inspired. I'm inspired.
00:02:14Three pieces of string cheese, that's how you should start your Friday.
00:02:16Yep. Guys, okay?
00:02:17Get an energy drink.
00:02:18Hell yeah.
00:02:20Yeah, yes. I can't even. That's an insane combination.
00:02:23Which you guys shared.
00:02:24Yes. Yes, by accident.
00:02:25Yeah.
00:02:26All right, so look, we're going to get into it all this weekend.
00:02:28I want to see what these boys are doing over the weekend as well, but let's start with last night's game.
00:02:32Thursday night football, Dolphins-Bills.
00:02:35Yesterday, it was all, you know, the Dolphins are going to get absolutely massacred in classic any given Thursday fashion.
00:02:42The Dolphins end up acquitting themselves well, but in the end it beats nothing because bad teams find a way to lose,
00:02:47and most certainly the Dolphins did that.
00:02:49Is it weird that kind of the first place I arrive here is that Mike McDaniel didn't do that bad of a job?
00:02:58Their offensive line is a mess, right?
00:03:01They only have one guy with any experience, their center.
00:03:05Two was obviously limited.
00:03:06There's no explosivity to the offense whatsoever, and yet they called a game where it was 21-21.
00:03:13They had just stopped Josh Allen for the third time in a row, and, like, the game was there, and then you get the roughing the kicker.
00:03:21Yeah.
00:03:21And that's what bad teams do.
00:03:23Yeah.
00:03:24But what did y'all think?
00:03:25What was your biggest takeaway from last night?
00:03:27I think that is the takeaway, that they had two moments where they were in the game, they had a chance to do something,
00:03:32the roughing the punter, and then the pick at the end.
00:03:34Yeah.
00:03:34So they're in the game the whole night, and then it's like, of course, they find a way to let it slip away.
00:03:40And it does feel like that was a moment where they could kind of maybe salvage something, build good vibes on the road,
00:03:45then you get 10 days off, who knows, coming up week four.
00:03:49Now it just feels like they're racing the Bears for that top pick.
00:03:51Yeah.
00:03:52Oh, and the Saints now.
00:03:54And the Saints.
00:03:54And the Saints.
00:03:55Sorry.
00:03:55Yeah.
00:03:56It's a race to the bottom right now.
00:03:58Yeah.
00:03:58I think one of my biggest takeaways was the Bills' rushing attack.
00:04:02Yeah.
00:04:03They were averaging probably five, six yards of carry in that first half,
00:04:07and they were just controlling the line of scrimmage, controlling the game.
00:04:09And they just couldn't be stopped.
00:04:11James Cook is unbelievable, and that offensive line was just making holes for them all day.
00:04:16Yeah, it's a great point, Mikey.
00:04:17The O-line for the Bills dominated.
00:04:19Actually, so Cook went over 100 yards.
00:04:21First player to do that in 36 games against the Dolphins.
00:04:24Yeah.
00:04:24Wow.
00:04:24Pretty crazy streak that Miami had going there, now broken.
00:04:29Also, did Josh Allen get pressured the entire night?
00:04:32I don't think so.
00:04:34Like, he looked so comfortable back there.
00:04:35That was another one of my takeaways was the Dolphins' front four.
00:04:40Just couldn't get anything going.
00:04:41Yeah.
00:04:42Also, you can't play zone against Josh Allen.
00:04:44No.
00:04:45His arm's too strong, and he just picks you apart.
00:04:46I think there was a point in the game last night he was 13-13 against zone.
00:04:49Yeah.
00:04:49And his little flicks, like they just showed there.
00:04:51He's so good.
00:04:53That's another thing is his maturity of the game.
00:04:55Like, usually when he was younger, he'd just take off and run.
00:04:58Yeah.
00:04:58And get hit hard.
00:05:00Now he's just flipping the ball and making good decisions, which I love to see.
00:05:03And look at it.
00:05:04I mean, look, 22-28, only 213, but three touchdowns is so clean.
00:05:08Yeah.
00:05:09Seeing it all.
00:05:09Taking what the defense is giving him.
00:05:12The other thing that you can start to feel where Josh Allen now,
00:05:16and you feel this with all elite quarterbacks.
00:05:19You all have seen The Matrix, I'm assuming.
00:05:20Oh, yeah.
00:05:21We've talked about that.
00:05:21Yes.
00:05:22Okay, so like, at the end, when Neo comes back from getting shot,
00:05:27and he's looking around, and he sees the code, right?
00:05:29He sees The Matrix for what it really is.
00:05:32That's what elite NFL quarterbacks do.
00:05:34That's the stage in his career that Josh Allen is at.
00:05:36Like, everything looks so slow.
00:05:38Yep.
00:05:38Like, he's a step ahead.
00:05:39Like, he's reading all the interconnecting parts perfectly.
00:05:42There was a great quote about Jordan in the Netflix documentary,
00:05:46The Last Dance, where it was like, he got to a point where he just,
00:05:49he was always the best, but then he just figured out how to win the game.
00:05:51And it feels like that's where Josh Allen is.
00:05:53So, like you're saying, the flicks, taking what the defense has,
00:05:57totally in control.
00:05:58He's just, it's not like just athletic ability anymore.
00:06:01He just, he controls the whole game.
00:06:02Yep.
00:06:03And then poor Tua, he said it before the game.
00:06:05He said, look, I'm not Josh Allen.
00:06:07And you can feel that.
00:06:08You can feel that last night.
00:06:09And he played pretty clean.
00:06:10Yeah.
00:06:11Probably one of the most, again, there was no explosivity.
00:06:14It was all check downs, a terrible pass per attempt,
00:06:16but they were right there all it takes, though.
00:06:18One mistake.
00:06:19Just a quick question.
00:06:21And obviously, you know, to your McDaniels point,
00:06:24do you think maybe the Bills came in seeing the spread,
00:06:27seeing and hearing everyone knowing that this Dolphins team is a dumpster fire
00:06:30and kind of played down to their opponents until the second half?
00:06:34I think with a team like the Bills, they're so experienced at this point.
00:06:42And I don't think that's the case.
00:06:44I think that, and we said on yesterday's show,
00:06:46I think that we have a bit of a misconception about how large the gaps are
00:06:52between a bad NFL team and a good one.
00:06:54I think the margins are way more razor thin than we appreciate, right?
00:06:58Like, college's not the case.
00:06:59No, right.
00:06:59You know a team's going to beat X team in college,
00:07:01and it's just by how much.
00:07:03In the NFL, I mean...
00:07:05Especially in a short week.
00:07:07Yes, exactly.
00:07:08Short week.
00:07:08And then the divisional rival thing always throws a wrench into the equation.
00:07:12Although I think Josh Allen is now, what, 15-0 against the Dolphins?
00:07:16Yeah.
00:07:16Something like that.
00:07:17I think 14-1.
00:07:1814-1, okay.
00:07:19Yeah, so...
00:07:20Fair.
00:07:21Yes, exactly fair.
00:07:23There was some controversy last night, and I don't really agree with it,
00:07:27but I think we should address it,
00:07:28because it seems to be what a lot of people are talking about.
00:07:31So, going into half, the Bills go to kneel the ball,
00:07:34and go ahead and roll the clip.
00:07:36So, it's a fumbled snap, and they blow the whistle,
00:07:39and then Allen tosses the ball backwards and runs off.
00:07:41Oh.
00:07:44Here's the deal, though.
00:07:44In my opinion, when he picks the ball up, he still has a knee on the ground.
00:07:49Yeah.
00:07:49Which, if we can slow it down, you can.
00:07:51But, either way, that's just an automatic whistle for the refs.
00:07:56It's...
00:07:56What do you think?
00:07:58It's too close to be...
00:07:59Like, I don't know.
00:08:01Have you guys ever seen that before?
00:08:03A fumbled snap and a kneel down?
00:08:05No.
00:08:05No, neither have the refs.
00:08:06Yeah.
00:08:07That's why the refs have the whistle ready to go.
00:08:08We're talking to a couple centers here, so I didn't know what that was...
00:08:11Yeah.
00:08:11If I fumbled a kneeling snap, my offensive line coach would stick his hand
00:08:14so far in my, you know what, it wouldn't be good.
00:08:17He'd use you like a meat puppet?
00:08:19Yeah.
00:08:20He'll be talking out of you.
00:08:21The half tie would be horrific.
00:08:24Have you ever...
00:08:24Did you ever fumble snap?
00:08:26Not an under center.
00:08:27I've actually never had an arid snap in game.
00:08:30Me neither.
00:08:31In practice.
00:08:31Yeah, practice.
00:08:32We ain't talking about practice.
00:08:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:08:34We're talking about a game.
00:08:35Any more thoughts on last night's Thursday Night Football game
00:08:39before we look at the NFL weekend that will be?
00:08:41Going once?
00:08:42Going twice?
00:08:43Look, credit to the Bills.
00:08:45Massive game.
00:08:463-0.
00:08:47Just an excellent start to what could be a championship campaign.
00:08:51And for the Dolphins, unfortunately, now 0-3.
00:08:54And Chief, we were talking about this a bit before the show,
00:08:56but this is a fascinating weekend in the NFL
00:09:00where you could almost paint this as a bit of NFL moving day.
00:09:06And what I mean by that is going into this week,
00:09:09we're starting to see teams kind of figure out what they're going to be.
00:09:13Okay, right now you have 10 2-0 teams.
00:09:16You have, I believe, 10 0-2 teams.
00:09:20And you have 12 1-1 teams.
00:09:23Yeah.
00:09:23And it's that 1-1 teams that I kind of want to focus on here
00:09:27because although 2-1 to 1-2 is numerically just a one-game difference,
00:09:33I mean, it feels like all the difference in the world, right?
00:09:36And especially early on in the season,
00:09:38like you want to, you know, start off on the right foot.
00:09:41And if you start 1-2, then you mean,
00:09:43I'm not saying you're going to start losing some guys mentally,
00:09:46but there's just not that mantra and that moxie and that confidence
00:09:50if you were to be 2-1 or 3-0.
00:09:53Well, I'm looking at that Jags-Texans, which is Texans are 0-2.
00:09:56They were prohibited division favorite, AFC South.
00:09:59So if the Jags win that game, which they can run the ball,
00:10:02they start 2-1, and all of a sudden the Texans are 0-3.
00:10:05Yeah, that's...
00:10:06That throws...
00:10:07Now that division is completely up for grabs.
00:10:09So that, to me, like you're talking moving day,
00:10:11that's a fascinating game to watch.
00:10:14And a game that most people, AFC South, probably wouldn't watch.
00:10:16But that one's one to pay attention to.
00:10:19And again, sticking in the AFC South, not 1-1 teams,
00:10:23but the 2-0 Colts against the 0-2 Titans.
00:10:26Right.
00:10:27And it's funny because there's been a lot of parallels drawn
00:10:29between Indiana Jones and this Colts team
00:10:32and Derek Carr and the Saints of last year
00:10:33where they were so good through two weeks,
00:10:36looked like it was legitimate, and then it all fell apart.
00:10:38I don't think the Titans are that team
00:10:41to make this fall apart for the Colts.
00:10:43So yeah, the AFC South already looking vastly different.
00:10:47One sneaky big moving day game, Raiders at Commanders.
00:10:52Right?
00:10:52A couple of teams.
00:10:53Also, Jaden Daniels, maybe not going to play.
00:10:55Could be seeing Marcus Mariota.
00:10:58Both of these teams really...
00:11:01I think...
00:11:01Well, I think the Commanders entered with a lot of belief
00:11:04coming into the year.
00:11:05The Raiders, I think, look like they could have belief.
00:11:09They're very close potentially, right?
00:11:11I think last week was more about the Chargers,
00:11:13less about them, but this game could go a long way
00:11:15to proving that.
00:11:16Yeah, and it's Pete Carroll.
00:11:17Pete Carroll's a vibes guy.
00:11:18He always has been a vibes guy.
00:11:20I always just assume he's going to figure it out,
00:11:22figure out a way to win.
00:11:23Ashton Gentry, I don't know if you guys saw that quote this week.
00:11:26He's basically like, give me the ball.
00:11:27Yeah.
00:11:28Why did you guys...
00:11:28Yeah, he was like...
00:11:29Feed me.
00:11:30Yeah, why did you draft me this high
00:11:32if you're not going to feed me the ball?
00:11:33So he's actively calling for it, like, run the offense.
00:11:35He's going to cash in week three already.
00:11:37Okay, Rook, let's go, dude.
00:11:39But I think he's got a point.
00:11:41So give him...
00:11:42Just, like, play action with him and Bowers,
00:11:44and you'll be good to go.
00:11:46A couple of the bigger matchups.
00:11:48I don't know if there's ever been
00:11:50a more important matchup
00:11:52between two 0-2 teams
00:11:54that could not feel more different
00:11:56as you have the 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs
00:11:58playing the 0-2 New York Giants.
00:12:01A must-win Kansas City here?
00:12:04Yeah.
00:12:05If they lose this game, it's panic time.
00:12:07It is, 100%.
00:12:08It's panic time in Kansas City.
00:12:09You're looking at Mahomes deep in the eyes.
00:12:11You're looking at Andy Reid.
00:12:12You're looking at Travis Kelsey.
00:12:14Your hands are up in your head.
00:12:16Like, what are we doing?
00:12:17Fully agree there.
00:12:18Where is this game?
00:12:19It's in New York.
00:12:19Yeah.
00:12:20And that is interesting, right?
00:12:22Because that's an element,
00:12:23but it's like, it's even that.
00:12:24I just...
00:12:24I don't...
00:12:26Again, it would feel like the end of an era
00:12:30if the Chiefs were to lose this Giants.
00:12:31The Giants did play well last week,
00:12:33so they have some momentum coming in this week,
00:12:35but, I mean, it's the Chiefs.
00:12:37Career-high passing yards for Russ.
00:12:39Yeah.
00:12:39Which is insane.
00:12:40If they go into MetLife and they lose that game,
00:12:43I think it's alarm bells.
00:12:46I'm not there.
00:12:47If the Chiefs could lose this game,
00:12:49and if...
00:12:49I'd need them to start, like, 0-6 before I'm like,
00:12:52well, let's see.
00:12:5318-week season, it's crazy
00:12:55to think 0-3 is going to ruin, like, the Chiefs season,
00:12:58but, again, the way they've looked,
00:13:00and then they're laying three.
00:13:01I mean, they're laying six.
00:13:02I just...
00:13:03I don't know about this game.
00:13:04This one feels like maybe...
00:13:06Maybe you hold your nose and play the other side.
00:13:08This is where it's like they're begging you
00:13:10to take the Giants with that line,
00:13:12and I'm not going to fall for it.
00:13:14I'm going with the Chiefs.
00:13:15I might tease it up to 10.
00:13:17I just think this is like...
00:13:18This is a Mahomes-Chiefs-get-right game,
00:13:20national TV.
00:13:22This is...
00:13:22That's what everyone's thinking, right?
00:13:25That line is...
00:13:26I know.
00:13:27It stinks to me.
00:13:28It's stinky.
00:13:29So, we are a national sports show, ostensibly,
00:13:33and something that we don't do much here
00:13:36that I'm sure some analytics-based television producers
00:13:40would want us to do
00:13:41is talk more about the Dallas Cowboys.
00:13:43But we have an excuse to talk about the Dallas Cowboys today,
00:13:46don't we, Chief?
00:13:47No, I don't know what you're talking about.
00:13:48Because, speaking of big, bad brands,
00:13:53we got two of the more legendary
00:13:55and two of the more underachieving NFL franchises
00:13:59going toe-to-toe in Chicago this Sunday afternoon.
00:14:02Cowboys at Bears.
00:14:03A game that should inspire a lot of excitement,
00:14:06and yet, a lot of ineptitude.
00:14:10Another stinky line, too.
00:14:12I love it.
00:14:12What is it now?
00:14:13Because it keeps slipping.
00:14:14It's just been...
00:14:15It's basically been a pick.
00:14:15I don't know what to do here.
00:14:18I'm taking the over.
00:14:19It's 50 and a half.
00:14:20Yep, bad defenses all around.
00:14:22Jalen Johnson, the Bears' only really star player,
00:14:26maybe on the whole roster.
00:14:27Out for the year, of course.
00:14:29Their other...
00:14:30Their number two corner, Tariq Stevenson.
00:14:34QBR against.
00:14:35Guess what it is?
00:14:35What?
00:14:36158.3, which is...
00:14:38Quarterback rating or QBR?
00:14:40Quarterback rating.
00:14:40Okay, okay, okay.
00:14:41So, 158.3 is perfect.
00:14:44Throwing against Tariq Stevenson, 158.3.
00:14:48So, you might as well have air or a ghost or just, like, anything.
00:14:54Dak might throw for 500 yards.
00:14:56I also think the Bears are going to move the ball, too.
00:14:58These are, like, the two worst defenses in the league,
00:15:00so that's why I like the over.
00:15:02But it's going to be ugly.
00:15:04It's going to be sad.
00:15:05I think the Cowboys, C.D. Lamb, C.D., I mean,
00:15:09he's going to do whatever he wants in this game.
00:15:11It's interesting because I feel like it's still early, obviously,
00:15:17but Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson have to get some consistency
00:15:20going this game, right?
00:15:22Like, I mean, there's so much belief built in the offseason.
00:15:25If not against the Cowboys' defense and how inept they've looked
00:15:28through two weeks, then where would you find any semblance
00:15:31of hope going forward?
00:15:32All right, so deep, dark thoughts time?
00:15:34Yeah, deep, dark thoughts time.
00:15:36If they lose this game and look bad against the Cowboys,
00:15:40next week they have the Raiders.
00:15:41If they lose that, they start 0-4, then they have the bye.
00:15:43In my head, I think there is a possibility that if it's so bad,
00:15:47after four weeks, you come out of the bye with Tyson Bajan.
00:15:50Yep.
00:15:51I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
00:15:53Did I make this up?
00:15:55Did I get incepted?
00:15:56Or has Ben Johnson been having some quotes talking about, like,
00:15:59Loving Bajan's, like, practice habits and, like, fundamentals?
00:16:03The other players, too.
00:16:04Oh, he's a dog.
00:16:05Cole Komet was like, he's a dog.
00:16:08So, and then –
00:16:09Locker room problems.
00:16:10You also had a comment this week from Ben Johnson saying that we do not
00:16:13have good practice habits.
00:16:15We don't have practice habits of a championship-caliber team.
00:16:17It's like, well, that's not good.
00:16:18It means the culture's rotten.
00:16:19But you are the coach, so set the standard of how you want to –
00:16:22It's literally just a reflection of him.
00:16:23I would say –
00:16:25But it's also the Bears.
00:16:26You don't say.
00:16:27This has been a thing for at least –
00:16:28I wouldn't love you, I believe.
00:16:302011, so call it 15 years.
00:16:32They haven't had good practice habits in 15 years.
00:16:35Coming up next here on Wake Up Barstool, guys.
00:16:38It's time to –
00:16:38Hey, thanks for that segment.
00:16:41Coming up next, it's time to talk some college ball.
00:16:44A massive game going out in Bloomington.
00:16:46But that's not the only one.
00:16:48More Wake Up Barstool here on FS1.
00:16:51What's up, y'all?
00:16:51Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:16:52Speaking of tonight's game, a surprisingly good matchup here.
00:16:56Megan, you have some feelings, some instincts on tonight's Iowa-Ruckers battle.
00:17:02I do.
00:17:03I know a lot of people are looking forward to that big noon kickoff Saturday game,
00:17:07but why not look at the Friday game?
00:17:11Again, this is a little weird one.
00:17:14Iowa at Ruckers.
00:17:16And I took Ruckers plus the three here.
00:17:18I think they're two and a half.
00:17:19I think they could potentially win outright.
00:17:21Obviously, Iowa's offense really isn't going anywhere.
00:17:25Their defense has still been good.
00:17:27But this Ruckers team has more talent than you think.
00:17:31Their line has just – veteran O-line.
00:17:35You have Kalia Kamantas.
00:17:36I really like this Scarlet Knights team.
00:17:41They have a chance to go 4-0 for the second year in a row.
00:17:44They're at home tonight, Friday Night Lights.
00:17:46I think this is just a better roster.
00:17:49I think this is the better team.
00:17:50I think even the wrong team might be favored here.
00:17:53I'm going to go with Ruckers.
00:17:54I think they have the offense to put Iowa on.
00:17:57So, we're going full Ruckers money line?
00:17:58I'm taking the three just to be safe.
00:18:00Again, it's a Friday game.
00:18:02It's not like I'm watching a whole bunch of Iowa Ruckers football.
00:18:05Why would you?
00:18:06Exactly.
00:18:07So, whenever I saw this game, I kind of talked myself into it.
00:18:10I wasn't going to play it.
00:18:11And then the more I read, I'm like, man, situational spot here for Ruckers.
00:18:15I like it.
00:18:16Yeah.
00:18:17So, one of our excellent producers here is TJ.
00:18:19He's a Ruckers guy.
00:18:20I was talking to him yesterday.
00:18:21I think Ruckers is one of like five teams to start 3-0 each the last five or six years.
00:18:25So, they kind of always do this.
00:18:28And last time, they were in this exact same scenario.
00:18:31Fox College football Friday, under the lights, packed stadium at home.
00:18:34It was Nebraska.
00:18:35They got up 13-0.
00:18:36They ended up dropping 14-13.
00:18:39Yeah.
00:18:39So, here's to hoping that they can maybe change that this time around.
00:18:44And that little Iowa breakdown by Megan, that's been on repeat for 30 years.
00:18:48I know.
00:18:48Can't score.
00:18:49Good defense.
00:18:51Play physical.
00:18:52They are the same thing.
00:18:53You can set your watch to Iowa football.
00:18:55They're the same thing every year.
00:18:57So, I'm going to take Iowa.
00:18:58Like, I know what Iowa is.
00:18:59They're predictable.
00:19:00That sounds like 14-13.
00:19:01That sounds like a very –
00:19:02Look, Ruckers defense wasn't great last year, but they loaded up in the offseason.
00:19:06They loaded up.
00:19:07So, why not Ruckers tonight?
00:19:10I mean, kind of the chief's point, though.
00:19:11Ruckers is who Ruckers is, and Iowa kind of is who Iowa is.
00:19:15I know.
00:19:15I think that's why they're favored, because of Iowa's consistency throughout the years.
00:19:18But I don't – I'm not seeing them – why they should be laying three on the road, again,
00:19:24in a hostile environment under the lights.
00:19:27Under – that's right.
00:19:27I mean, it's Fox College Football Friday.
00:19:30Oh, that's wrong.
00:19:30Hostile environment, Ruckers?
00:19:32No.
00:19:35TJ – I've talked to TJ about this.
00:19:38It's just not.
00:19:39It doesn't get rocking.
00:19:40They have a little cannon that fires off.
00:19:43Like, it's not – like, Kinnick gets rocking.
00:19:46Yeah, Kinnick's awesome.
00:19:47Kinnick gets rocking.
00:19:49Piscataway, New Jersey.
00:19:50I think it's in Piscataway.
00:19:52Sounds right.
00:19:52We flew in there, like, three times.
00:19:55I think you should give it more credit tonight.
00:19:56I mean, no.
00:19:57I actually kind of like Ruckers tonight, I will say.
00:20:00Battle of two great coaches.
00:20:02I don't know.
00:20:03It's just like – I don't know.
00:20:06I talked myself into it.
00:20:07I didn't necessarily want this game.
00:20:09It's not my favorite play of the week, but a little Friday action.
00:20:12A little underdog at home.
00:20:14Why not?
00:20:14Yeah.
00:20:15All right, then let's get to what may be the biggest game of the weekend.
00:20:18Now, obviously, we've got the Fox big new kickoff game, Utah-Texas Tech,
00:20:21which I want to touch on, which is going to be absolutely fantastic.
00:20:23But we have Mikey Kadek here.
00:20:25Okay?
00:20:26The man who just was the starting center for the Indiana Hoosiers last year.
00:20:30He had the best season in school history.
00:20:32Went to the college football playoff.
00:20:34Mikey, a massive test in Bloomington.
00:20:38Brett Bielema, a top-10 Illinois team that seems so consistent right now.
00:20:44Two great quarterbacks with nearly identical stats in Altmaier and Fernando Mendoza.
00:20:49How are we feeling?
00:20:50I'm nervous.
00:20:51Nervous, but very excited.
00:20:54I'll be at the game.
00:20:56This is my first game back as a fan, and it's going to be rocking.
00:21:01The atmosphere is going to be out of this world.
00:21:03Primetime, 7.30 game, at home, probably one of the biggest home games that we've had
00:21:08in probably 8 to 10 years, I'd say, and it's going to be an unbelievable atmosphere.
00:21:15I'm pumped.
00:21:15When does the tailgate start?
00:21:17My parents are coming up with the RV, 12 o'clock noon.
00:21:20My dad will be cooking.
00:21:21Beer will be cracked at 12 o'clock.
00:21:23Yes.
00:21:24All the way through the night.
00:21:25What's on the tailgate menu?
00:21:28So my dad always makes slots.
00:21:30So it depends.
00:21:30And so noon game, my dad will make breakfast sandwiches that are unbelievable.
00:21:34Beers at 9 a.m.
00:21:35But I've never been to a chaotic family tailgate.
00:21:38Like, I haven't.
00:21:38You've only heard about it.
00:21:39Yeah, you've been playing.
00:21:40I've only heard the lore of it.
00:21:42So then, but they have sliders.
00:21:44My mom's making dips.
00:21:45She's a huge dip girl.
00:21:47Makes dips for everyone.
00:21:49Well, now I mean, what kind of dip?
00:21:50Now I have to explore that.
00:21:51Like, she loves taco dip.
00:21:53Yep.
00:21:53Like a five-layer taco dip.
00:21:55She loves like a corn.
00:21:56Five layers?
00:21:56Seven layer.
00:21:57Seven layer?
00:21:58Well, I think my mom makes five.
00:22:00How are you going to tell this man how many layers his mom has, guys?
00:22:04Like that Mexican, like, street corn dip?
00:22:07Oh, I love that.
00:22:08She's an absolute demon with the dips.
00:22:12But, yeah, I'm really nervous.
00:22:14I think it's all going to come down to,
00:22:16I know Coach Bostad and the offensive line and Coach Sig is going to get that defense ID'd up.
00:22:24I know it.
00:22:26Casey was saying on Unnecessary Roughness that I don't think we could win without me, which is so true.
00:22:31Oh, no.
00:22:32So false.
00:22:33False.
00:22:33False.
00:22:34False.
00:22:34False.
00:22:35I never said that.
00:22:37Kanick was the program.
00:22:39Kanick was the program.
00:22:40No.
00:22:40No.
00:22:40Coogan is better than me, in my opinion.
00:22:44Coach Bostad's going to have that.
00:22:46Illinois runs a tough defense to block.
00:22:49Heavy box.
00:22:50They love bringing safeties down into the run.
00:22:53Into the run fits.
00:22:54It's going to be hard to ID, but Pat Coogan and Coach Bostad will get the boys right.
00:23:01So is this a Mendoza game, then?
00:23:03See how nervous I am?
00:23:04Yeah.
00:23:04I love it.
00:23:04I'm nervous.
00:23:05I can feel it.
00:23:06But is it a Mendoza game?
00:23:08Oh, look.
00:23:08There we go.
00:23:09Mikey, look.
00:23:09So everybody screenshot this.
00:23:12Everybody screenshot this.
00:23:13I never said that.
00:23:14Screenshot this and bring it out.
00:23:16I never said that.
00:23:17I hate this.
00:23:19Yes, Mendoza's going to have to perform.
00:23:22Okay.
00:23:23Mikey, I'm nervous.
00:23:24Well, I mean, it makes sense, bro.
00:23:25You're still, like, I've had so much.
00:23:27It might be a playoff game, effectively.
00:23:28I'm pulling for you hard, Kate.
00:23:30I'm pulling for you hard.
00:23:31I mean, we haven't won a top ten matchup since my first start against Penn State at home.
00:23:38The Penix.
00:23:39Oh, the Penix.
00:23:39I remember that.
00:23:41That was the last time we beat a top ten team.
00:23:45Are you more nervous now watching this than you would be playing?
00:23:50Yes.
00:23:50A hundred percent.
00:23:51Yeah.
00:23:51Because I feel like I need.
00:23:53I'm, like, making calls, you know?
00:23:56No agency.
00:23:56And you can understand.
00:23:57It's like, you're making calls out there.
00:23:59You're like, oh, no.
00:24:00Like, on my O-linemen, I know them all.
00:24:02But, like, I'm like, break it up.
00:24:03And if they miss the calls.
00:24:07It's always easier from the outside.
00:24:08It's because they can't win without cancer.
00:24:09I'm nervous.
00:24:10I'm very nervous.
00:24:10To look at the mistakes from the outside and be like, this is what I would do differently.
00:24:13But then you're in the game.
00:24:14Yeah.
00:24:15Well, when you're in the game, you have agency, right?
00:24:17Yeah.
00:24:17And, like, you – all the old cliches about the first hit are true.
00:24:23Yeah.
00:24:23Like, you have all the butterflies, and then you hit, and you're like, okay, this is football.
00:24:26We're in it now.
00:24:27Yep.
00:24:28Watching from the outside, especially when you're as close to playing as Mikey just was,
00:24:31it can be absolutely maddening.
00:24:34Yeah, it is.
00:24:35But you're going to have adrenaline pumping, though.
00:24:36It's going to be awesome.
00:24:37Bloomington's going to be incredible.
00:24:38And this is a premier matchup between tough teams, very well-coached teams, Bielema and Sig.
00:24:45If you missed our interview with Bielema earlier this week, I cannot recommend enough to go check it out.
00:24:51What a fantastic coach.
00:24:52Let's get to Fox Big Noon kickoff.
00:24:54The college football show going to Utah.
00:24:56Rice-Eccles Stadium is going to be electric as well.
00:24:59A battle of two styles in so many more ways than one.
00:25:04And we'll break down some of this in the crawler corner a bit later on.
00:25:07Or that might be next.
00:25:09But Utah, traditionally great, been for a while, hard-nosed, incredible offensive line with Devin Dampier,
00:25:18great dual-threat quarterback.
00:25:20Texas Tech, new to the party, big spenders, buying their way into the club, spread offense,
00:25:27Barron Morton, dropping dimes, and watching those two conflicting styles both on the field
00:25:33and the conflicting styles of the program.
00:25:35Whittingham, it's almost like a proxy war for what college football is going to be.
00:25:41Give me the traditional, guys.
00:25:42Give me Utah.
00:25:43Run the ball.
00:25:44Build the program.
00:25:45Whittingham.
00:25:46I love Utah football.
00:25:47I love that crowd.
00:25:48I can't – I'm very excited for this game.
00:25:51Yeah, same.
00:25:52This is, aside from your game, I feel like this is the marquee game of the week.
00:25:55100%.
00:25:56I agree.
00:25:56I think what Texas Tech is doing is very good.
00:25:59Yeah.
00:26:00I think the quarterback is unbelievable.
00:26:02The offensive line, like, they run a very – like, the heavy play action that you're seeing.
00:26:07Like, a lot of letting the quarterback air it out, and then you have Utah loading that – I mean, the personnel, 22, 21 personnel.
00:26:15They're very heavy in their personnels, and they like to run the ball.
00:26:18So, it's going to be a very weird dynamic, but I think it's going to come out to be a great game.
00:26:24Megan, do you have a play on either of these games?
00:26:27I actually do have a play.
00:26:29And I'm going with the dog here on the road in a hostile environment.
00:26:33Would you call Utah a hostile environment?
00:26:34Yes.
00:26:34Yeah, Rice Eccles is going to be crazy.
00:26:36There we go.
00:26:37Is that just, you know, clearing that from the –
00:26:39No, yeah.
00:26:39Yeah, no, I'm going to go with Texas Tech here.
00:26:42Again, they've spent a lot of money in the offseason, all that oil money down in Lubbock.
00:26:47They completely just rebuilt this program.
00:26:50I think they're very well-rounded.
00:26:53I do think this is going to be a tight one, but at the end, I think Texas Tech is going to throw a little air ball
00:26:59and end up covering this game for me.
00:27:01What about when you look at the rest of the slate, is there any other game that jumps out to y'all?
00:27:07Auburn OU.
00:27:08Yeah.
00:27:09Yeah, David.
00:27:09Ah, that one's a good one.
00:27:11John Mateer has become appointment viewing for me.
00:27:13Yes, he has.
00:27:13I have a Heisman future on John Mateer.
00:27:15I love John Mateer.
00:27:16He might be the most electric quarterback to watch in a long time.
00:27:20He can do a little bit of that short area quickness.
00:27:22He runs people over.
00:27:23He slings it.
00:27:24He does like those jump passes when he's rolling out.
00:27:26The guy's got a hose.
00:27:27So, I love watching John Mateer.
00:27:29I also am not a believer in Jackson Arnold.
00:27:31Well, and that's what Jackson Arnold has to prove that he can throw the ball.
00:27:35Yeah.
00:27:36Everything's 10 yards and under.
00:27:37I was talking to Mincy.
00:27:39Mincy's been pretty hot lately.
00:27:41Yes, Megan?
00:27:41I hear you.
00:27:42No, I'm just him talking.
00:27:43A little list back.
00:27:45I heard that list back.
00:27:46What?
00:27:47I'm going to be on Oklahoma, but the Jackson Arnold playing in his former house, a little scary.
00:27:54Yeah, look, it's a revenge game.
00:27:55A little scary.
00:27:55But, this is also like the new boyfriend trying to do such a good job to erase any memories
00:28:01whatsoever of the old boyfriend, and Jackson's been that thus far.
00:28:05But, Hugh Freeze, though, he's dangerous as an underdog.
00:28:09He is.
00:28:09He always is.
00:28:11I don't put too much stock in last week.
00:28:13It was a classic look-ahead spot.
00:28:15I would say the Auburn that we saw against Baylor is more of the Auburn that I would expect
00:28:19to see coming up in Norman.
00:28:20I like Oklahoma.
00:28:22If I end up playing this, though, I think I'm going to take Auburn with the seven.
00:28:27I'm going to go ahead.
00:28:28I already took six and a half with Oklahoma here.
00:28:31Obviously, this is a humongous game for Auburn, but they have to get past this Oklahoma team,
00:28:38and on deck, they got A&M.
00:28:40Yeah.
00:28:41And, look, Oklahoma's schedule is absolutely brutal as well.
00:28:43But, this is a great one.
00:28:44And, then, probably the final one, Michigan, Nebraska.
00:28:47That's what I was going to say.
00:28:47I mean, Dylan Raiola and Bryce Underwood, back-to-back number one quarterbacks in the
00:28:52entire country.
00:28:53Raiola finished so badly last year that we all forgot about him.
00:28:57He's been great.
00:28:58Yeah.
00:28:58He's been great thus far.
00:28:59I think...
00:29:00I did forget about him.
00:29:01Exactly.
00:29:02No, exactly.
00:29:02I erased him from my brain.
00:29:03It makes sense.
00:29:05But, I think this is another game like Illinois and Indiana where it's going to set up the
00:29:09rest of their season.
00:29:10Like, Michigan obviously did not have a great season last year.
00:29:14Neither did Nebraska.
00:29:15But, how is this game going to set them up for the rest of the season?
00:29:19It's going to be a momentum game.
00:29:20It's going to be about, you know, Michigan's offensive line versus Nebraska's front seven.
00:29:27They also run a very tough defense to block.
00:29:29But, it's just going to be about, you know, winning the trenches.
00:29:33Like, I say every game.
00:29:35But, that's what it comes down to all the time.
00:29:37What about, it's for, if not now, win for Matt Ruhle at Nebraska.
00:29:42Yeah.
00:29:42Yeah.
00:29:42I fully agree.
00:29:43It's the rule of three.
00:29:44Every third year, he's incredible.
00:29:45But, also, it's a Michigan team that is almost perfectly set up to give you maybe more credit
00:29:51than you would deserve for beating them.
00:29:53Like, they're deeply flawed.
00:29:54We don't know how good they are.
00:29:56But, they're ranked in the top 25.
00:29:58They're coming off a national championship.
00:29:59They have the Underwood hype, even though he's still a true freshman.
00:30:02Nebraska has to win this game.
00:30:04Yes.
00:30:04They have to.
00:30:05At home.
00:30:05I think I talked to Kadic about this game, because I was looking at the line, obviously,
00:30:09Underwood, $12 million man.
00:30:11You know, the Nebraska's plus one and a half right now, and as Kadic was saying, they lost
00:30:16a ton up front.
00:30:17But, I just, this line feels very strange to me.
00:30:22Stinky.
00:30:23A little stink.
00:30:25It, it's, I, I think this is because who Nebraska has been for the past decade.
00:30:31We have seen them countless times with these big opportunities.
00:30:34And, every time, they find a way to barely lose it in a one-score game.
00:30:39Yeah.
00:30:39I believe in Matt Rule.
00:30:40I believe in Raiola.
00:30:42I think he's a year ahead of schedule, literally, on Bryce Underwood.
00:30:45I think Nebraska gets it done at home.
00:30:47I'm with you on Nebraska.
00:30:48Another tough place, place to play at Nebraska.
00:30:51Go Big Red.
00:30:53Y'all killed them.
00:30:53GBR.
00:30:54Y'all killed them last year, dude.
00:30:56Oh, my God.
00:30:56On 56.
00:30:57And, that kind of felt like this game, where it was early on.
00:31:00Yeah, yeah.
00:31:00Y'all played really good.
00:31:01That is true.
00:31:02That is true.
00:31:02That is true.
00:31:03I was like, oh, this is going to be where Indiana proves it.
00:31:05Yeah.
00:31:06I mean, Michigan's not Indiana.
00:31:07No, true.
00:31:08And, Michigan doesn't have Mike Hayden.
00:31:09Yeah, true.
00:31:10Right, right, right, right.
00:31:12I'm sick of that.
00:31:13Coming up next here on Wake Up Barstool, we're going to go around the office.
00:31:16Talk maybe a little NFL kickoffs as well.
00:31:18We've got the Crawler Corner coming up to close out the hour.
00:31:22Keep it locked right here on FS1.
00:31:27What's up, guys?
00:31:28Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:31:29You're probably pretty hungry.
00:31:30Well, guess what?
00:31:31Got a lot of hungry people in this office.
00:31:32We're going to figure out what the perfect breakfast is, according to all the wonderful
00:31:37people in this building.
00:31:38Ideal, perfect breakfast meal.
00:31:41Wontons.
00:31:42Wontons.
00:31:42No, not necessarily, actually.
00:31:44That's more of a lunch.
00:31:45Danny Conrad, what's your ideal breakfast meal?
00:31:48I'm going the American traditional, two eggs scrambled.
00:31:50If I have the choice between bacon and sausage, I'm doing bacon.
00:31:54But if they have sausage patties, I'm doing that.
00:31:56Got to make sure there's hash browns on the side.
00:31:58If given the option of toast or pancakes, you've got to go toast.
00:32:01Pancakes should be an entree, not a side.
00:32:04Beautifully said.
00:32:05Annika, what's your favorite breakfast meal?
00:32:07I like a classic breakfast.
00:32:09So it's like usually three sausages, one pancake, two eggs over easy.
00:32:14Mookie, what's your favorite breakfast meal?
00:32:16Ooh, it is easily a pork roll, egg and cheese on an everything bagel.
00:32:21And it is pork roll.
00:32:22It's not Taylor Ham.
00:32:23Finger, what's your favorite breakfast meal?
00:32:24Favorite breakfast meal, two eggs over easy, crispy bacon or thick cut hefford and crispy
00:32:31hash browns.
00:32:32Hell yeah.
00:32:33Classic.
00:32:34White Sox Dave, what's your favorite breakfast meal?
00:32:37Skillet, all day, every day.
00:32:38Owen, what's your favorite breakfast meal?
00:32:40Bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel, hash browns, and add some chipotle aioli to the bagel.
00:32:45Danny Cardness, what's your favorite breakfast meal?
00:32:48Sausage, egg and cheese and croissant bread.
00:32:51Croissant over bagel any day of the week.
00:32:53I kind of agree.
00:32:55I think like biscuits are so consistent and good and easier to find, but it goes croissant,
00:33:00biscuit, bagel.
00:33:01How about that?
00:33:02All right, guys.
00:33:03If that doesn't make you hungry, I know it will.
00:33:06This next segment, more Wake Up, Larson.
00:33:10All right.
00:33:10Well, I figured this would happen.
00:33:12There has been a debate started here in studio over the premier vehicle for a breakfast sandwich.
00:33:21You're out of your mind.
00:33:21You heard my take there.
00:33:23I'm a biscuit boy at heart.
00:33:25Biscuits are great.
00:33:26Out of your mind.
00:33:27But from a pure taste standpoint, the hierarchy is croissant, biscuit, bagel, or croissant.
00:33:35Croissant.
00:33:35You're out of your mind.
00:33:36What is it then?
00:33:38It is bagel croissant biscuit.
00:33:41Is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this
00:33:42English muffin's not even in the starting lineup?
00:33:44Honestly, I'll put English muffin above croissant.
00:33:46No.
00:33:47What?
00:33:47Yep.
00:33:48These guys just want crumbs all over their shirt.
00:33:50They got flaky crumbs all over you.
00:33:52The biscuit's gonna break all over you.
00:33:54Correct.
00:33:54That's if the biscuit's dry.
00:33:55Guys, what biscuits are you eating?
00:33:56A bagel holds everything together so well.
00:33:58What biscuits are you eating here?
00:33:59Jadick, I'll make you, I'll make you some biscuits next week.
00:34:01Thank you, mother.
00:34:02I would love that.
00:34:03Megan makes homemade biscuits.
00:34:05Okay, well please.
00:34:05I make homemade everything.
00:34:06Yeah, that's true.
00:34:07You're out of your mind.
00:34:08Oh wait, so Chief, you're, where are you putting, uh, where are you putting your English muffin
00:34:12you said?
00:34:13I mean, it's fine.
00:34:15It's fine, but it's not as good as the others.
00:34:17It's boring.
00:34:17I mean, it deserved a mention.
00:34:19Okay, you're, I apologize.
00:34:20I also, look at, I, I don't, I avoid foods with like a high mess probability.
00:34:26If I'm having a croissant, those flakes are all over my shirt the rest of the day.
00:34:28They don't stick to you.
00:34:30They're on it.
00:34:31You don't know.
00:34:31Yeah, but I want integrity in my, in my sandwich.
00:34:34And biscuits just, I love, they're delicious.
00:34:37Biscuits just crumble and break off.
00:34:39Maybe this is a North or South thing.
00:34:40It has to be.
00:34:41Because again, in the South, we don't get the good bagels.
00:34:45Yeah, well, that is true.
00:34:46No, that, that is also true.
00:34:47We don't, I've never liked, to all the Northeast people, I don't really know good bagels.
00:34:50How about this?
00:34:51I'll go down to the South, get a good biscuit.
00:34:53You go on the East Coast and get a good bagel.
00:34:55Okay, that, that, that, I, I'm always, look, there's one of my favorite quotes ever, I'm
00:35:00going to paraphrase here, it's an old Ben Franklin quote, and it's basically like, look, I never
00:35:05want to be so set in my opinions that I'm unwilling to change in light of new information.
00:35:09So if somebody sends me, or if I can get my hands on an incredible bagel that blows my
00:35:14mind, I'm willing to change.
00:35:15But for now, it is at his stamps.
00:35:17Okay.
00:35:17Croissant, biscuit bagel.
00:35:19I love the croissant.
00:35:20God, with some sausage, egg, and cheese.
00:35:22I love it.
00:35:22And bacon on there.
00:35:23When we were coming back from Cosm last week in the airport, Mikey, you'll appreciate
00:35:28this, I just, you know, a little, well, whatever, I just went full out, and I stopped at the
00:35:35first place, I got a sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, and then I walked a hundred
00:35:40yards down the airport, went to McDonald's, and got a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit with
00:35:45half browns.
00:35:46You got to figure out which one's better.
00:35:47Just really loading down right before an 8 a.m. flight up a couple hours of sleep.
00:35:53I might get that on my way to Bloomington right after this.
00:35:56So, okay, look, let's head back to the NFL real quick.
00:35:58Yeah, let's get back.
00:35:59Well, hmm.
00:36:00Hmm.
00:36:01I want to leave some time for our crawler corner coming up here.
00:36:05Let's touch on one game.
00:36:06Let me see what game I want to touch on here.
00:36:09Unironically, I'm very excited for a game that I don't know what the national appeal will
00:36:14be a lot of in-office appeal, and that is Steelers at Patriots.
00:36:19We have a ton of fans from both that work here, and it goes with the theme that we laid
00:36:23out at the beginning of the show.
00:36:24Two one-in-one teams.
00:36:26One fan base is going to be two-in-one.
00:36:27Oh, my God.
00:36:28We're going to be a playoff team.
00:36:29Maybe we're so much better than we thought.
00:36:30The other is one and two, and they feel like they have to fight uphill for the rest of the
00:36:34season.
00:36:35What's the read on the game?
00:36:35Obviously, the mistakes that the Steelers made last week on special teams turned the
00:36:40whole game around, lost us the game.
00:36:42I thought Rodgers was playing all right.
00:36:44I just think our offense wasn't clicking altogether.
00:36:47I think our defense was playing horrible again for two weeks in a row now.
00:36:51They spend all this money on this amazing defense.
00:36:54They pay TJ.
00:36:56They get all the pieces they need with Jalen Ramsey and all that, and they just can't
00:37:01perform at a high level against...
00:37:02You know, and going into New England, I think New England played well last week.
00:37:09I thought...
00:37:09It played well.
00:37:10Yeah, and I think it's going to be a great matchup.
00:37:12Obviously, a lot in this office.
00:37:14Me, Jerry, Lucas against Hank, Dana, you know, Dave.
00:37:18Joe Owens, a Patriots fan.
00:37:20Yeah.
00:37:20So, it's going to be a great, great game.
00:37:23Do we know the identity of the Patriots yet?
00:37:26No.
00:37:27Do we know what Drake made?
00:37:28I don't even know if Drake made's good.
00:37:29Yeah, exactly.
00:37:30I have no idea.
00:37:31I feel like people were pretty quick to, like, anoint him as, like, oh, he's a guy.
00:37:35Yeah.
00:37:35I'm not.
00:37:36That's big Patriot me to work it over.
00:37:37Okay.
00:37:38That's exactly what that is.
00:37:40That's Patriot propaganda.
00:37:42I do believe Rabel's a good coach.
00:37:44I do, too.
00:37:44For whatever that is worth.
00:37:45I do, too.
00:37:46They ran the ball a little bit better last week, too.
00:37:48And then, do you think Aaron Rodgers has anything left?
00:37:50I'm starting to think he might be cooked in that.
00:37:51I think he does.
00:37:52I've been waiting for this for a long time.
00:37:54I think he does.
00:37:54I don't like Jerry who you say that.
00:37:55Not Rodgy.
00:37:56Not Rajussi.
00:37:57Like, okay, like, like, I think the key here, though, is, like Mikey said, Steelers, second
00:38:02highest defensive payroll in the league.
00:38:04Yeah.
00:38:04And they've been awful.
00:38:04They've got to get that fixed.
00:38:05Horrible.
00:38:06Welcome back.
00:38:07Wake up, Barstool here on FS1 Friday.
00:38:09It's here, guys.
00:38:10The weekend is here.
00:38:11Football is here.
00:38:13Maybe you're going to have some beers tonight.
00:38:14Maybe.
00:38:15Woo!
00:38:15I can't wait.
00:38:16I'm taking, uh, I'm taking my daughter to the hockey rink, the ice rink later today.
00:38:21Love that for you.
00:38:22I mean, look at me, dude.
00:38:23You have embraced Chicago, Fallon.
00:38:25You're in the north.
00:38:26Your daughter's playing hockey.
00:38:27It's great.
00:38:28It's awesome, dude.
00:38:29I don't believe that for a second.
00:38:31Oh, I have a video.
00:38:32Well, look at his balance.
00:38:33No figure skater has ever eaten three-string cheeses before 6.30 a.m.
00:38:38Can you imagine him with, like, a little leotard out there?
00:38:41I was in a bedazzled suit.
00:38:43No way.
00:38:44After that recital, my dad signed me up for football.
00:38:49Father of the year.
00:38:49Oh, man, it does kind of, it's that time of year where normally if I was back in Baton
00:38:55Rouge, Nutcracker rehearsals would be starting.
00:38:57Ooh, I like that.
00:38:58I'm a big musical theater fan.
00:38:59I was a purple party dad, not to brag.
00:39:01But the point is, my daughter this weekend, I'm very excited.
00:39:04She hasn't really had a passion for anything yet, and she's learning to skate now.
00:39:09She's on a hockey team, and she absolutely loves it.
00:39:12That is awesome.
00:39:12So, when you get older, it's hard to make friends, right?
00:39:16I think you can't appreciate this yet.
00:39:17But for the rest of us in this room right now.
00:39:20I don't even want to make new friends.
00:39:21Well, okay, but I have to.
00:39:24Yeah, because I do.
00:39:25I'll be your friend.
00:39:26I have to.
00:39:28Being up here now, my wife does.
00:39:30My poor wife, she's just stuck at home right now as we, like, move and everything.
00:39:34But this hockey rink, apparently, she's been scouting out, bringing her.
00:39:39It's going to be my first time going.
00:39:40They got a nice little bar, nice little restaurant.
00:39:42It said the parents look cool, so, like, I'm kind of going to be going to try to flirt with friends.
00:39:50It's like a first date.
00:39:51Yes, but like a blind first date.
00:39:53Like, I'm going to go post up with my beer, and I'm going to be kind of looking like, oh, that guy looks cool.
00:39:58We can maybe talk about sports or something.
00:40:01Playing around with your napkin.
00:40:02Yeah.
00:40:03Body a little side eye.
00:40:04What are you all going to get into this Friday?
00:40:07Well, I'm heading down to Bloomington right after this.
00:40:11What's the bar?
00:40:12Me and Ella are guest bartending tonight.
00:40:15Well, Pup Punk, the Barstool band, is playing at Kilroy Sports tonight, so me and Ella are going to guest bartend, watch the show, get up tomorrow.
00:40:24Parents are driving in tonight with the RV, going to tailgate all day with them tomorrow, going to go to the game tomorrow night, go out after the game, be back here on Sunday for the NFL games.
00:40:33Mikey, you and Ella have a podcast together.
00:40:37Yes.
00:40:38Oh, man.
00:40:39And you can plug it, but Chief, did you see this clip?
00:40:42About her spending $10,000 a night.
00:40:44I almost threw up.
00:40:45Did she say that she spent $60,000 to $70,000 at the bars her senior year?
00:40:50Yes.
00:40:51She said...
00:40:52And it's not a lie.
00:40:53It's not a bit.
00:40:53No, I believe it.
00:40:54I've heard her say it before.
00:40:56It's a thousand.
00:40:56So she said she spent $11,000 in just the month of April, and I go, oh, okay.
00:41:02Like, I thought she spent $11,000 the whole year.
00:41:06So I said, yeah, I probably spent $20,000 of my own money, my NIL money, for the whole year.
00:41:12That's so crazy that y'all have NIL money like that.
00:41:13For the whole year, though.
00:41:14I probably spent $1,000.
00:41:16Oh, my.
00:41:17Because I was going more for, like, my boys and, like, the memories and, like, all that kind of stuff.
00:41:21And you had money.
00:41:22Yeah.
00:41:22And I'll buy dinner for the boys.
00:41:24I'll buy a table, things like that.
00:41:26And she goes, oh, you spent $20,000 in a month?
00:41:28I go, no.
00:41:29That was the whole year.
00:41:30She goes, oh, I spent $11,000 in one month.
00:41:34I go, oh, my God.
00:41:35She's getting throttled.
00:41:37I don't even know how you do this.
00:41:38Because what's a beer at, like, NIL ROYS?
00:41:40Well, so she's buying tables.
00:41:41Like, she's opening tabs.
00:41:43Tables and bottles.
00:41:44And, like, all her friends can put whatever they want on that tab.
00:41:48Okay, and then she'll buy a table, which, if you get, like, big tables at these, you know, on big nights, $8,000, $2,000.
00:41:56Wait, and she's going out Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
00:41:57I mean, people our age were selling blood to get $20.
00:42:00I know, bro.
00:42:01I know.
00:42:02But also, she's going out Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
00:42:06So, like, she's getting tabs.
00:42:08Getting her money's worth.
00:42:09My parents gave me $200 a month and was, like, make it last.
00:42:12That's a good allowance.
00:42:14No, it's, I mean, we used to buy flats of Natty Light.
00:42:18$9.99 for 16 Tallboys.
00:42:20That is so cute.
00:42:21Or, excuse me, 24 Tallboys, 32 regular beers.
00:42:2333 cents a year.
00:42:2430 rack.
00:42:24Great deal.
00:42:2530 rack.
00:42:25Incredible deal.
00:42:26Yeah.
00:42:27Ice.
00:42:28Now, Ella is social media.
00:42:32She's famous on social media.
00:42:33Yes.
00:42:33Yeah.
00:42:34So, like, you had your NIL money.
00:42:36Yeah.
00:42:36Is this her social media money?
00:42:37Nope.
00:42:37No.
00:42:38Papa.
00:42:38It's just daddy.
00:42:40This is Papa Griff.
00:42:41I'm going to see him this week, and I'm going to have a conversation.
00:42:42Shout out to Papa Griff.
00:42:44I'm going to have a conversation.
00:42:45And not just that.
00:42:46She's one of five girls.
00:42:48Girls.
00:42:49Bro.
00:42:49Five.
00:42:50They all get that spin.
00:42:51Is Papa Griff Kevin McAllister?
00:42:53Yes.
00:42:53That's where Ella was last night.
00:42:55Where?
00:42:56In Bloomington.
00:42:57Bought a table on her dad.
00:42:59Let's go, dude.
00:43:00And the sign said, table on Mr. Griff.
00:43:02Yeah.
00:43:03No way.
00:43:04Yes.
00:43:04Remember those old commercials with, like, never graduate?
00:43:06Yeah.
00:43:07I'm going to see Mr. Griff this week, and I'm going to say, God bless you, sir, because
00:43:11you are an unbelievable father.
00:43:13So, there we go.
00:43:14Look.
00:43:15You see it right there.
00:43:15The Barstool College Football Show is going to be live bright and early, 7 a.m., I think,
00:43:21local time.
00:43:23There in Utah.
00:43:23Grandpa Brandon is going to be struggling.
00:43:25FS1 coming up afterwards.
00:43:26Yeah.
00:43:27Brandon, you hear that?
00:43:28He's floating right outside the studio.
00:43:30Frankie old curmudgeon.
00:43:31Yeah, he is a bit curmudgeonly, isn't he?
00:43:34But that's 24 hours a day.
00:43:36It has nothing to do.
00:43:37He'll be just as cranky at 7 a.m. as he is at 7 p.m.
00:43:40Now, if any of this recent conversation freaked you out, and you're thinking about, wow, I need
00:43:47more money in my pocket, what better way, then, guys, to go to our own Megan making money
00:43:53money.
00:43:54I suck.
00:43:56Megan's money corner.
00:43:57All right, Megan, give us the plays for this weekend.
00:44:00Let's discuss.
00:44:01All right.
00:44:01So, I already went over a couple with you guys.
00:44:03Gave you guys Rutgers plus the three.
00:44:06Obviously, that one's kind of a hold your nose, and if you want to play it, you want
00:44:09to play it.
00:44:10I told you guys I'm on Texas Tech plus the three.
00:44:13Again, I think that error rate ends up giving us the cover there.
00:44:17Next game I'm on, TCU.
00:44:20Obviously, SMU is going to be, you know, throwing the ball, trying to keep pace with this TCU team,
00:44:26but I think their balance attack will creep out and give us the cover there.
00:44:30Next one I love is, again, Oklahoma.
00:44:33This is a team I've been riding, and I probably will until the wheels fall off.
00:44:37I've got a minus six and a half here.
00:44:39Okay, so real quick, on the TCU front, I love this pick.
00:44:45Here's the deal with TCU.
00:44:46They made the national championship two years ago.
00:44:49Right.
00:44:49Last year, they come out the gates, or excuse me, whenever they made the national championship,
00:44:54the year after they come out, they lose Colorado.
00:44:56They do awful, right?
00:44:57But last season, they ended up finishing, and then we kind of forgot about them last season.
00:45:02They ended up finishing strong.
00:45:03They won six of the last seven.
00:45:05Josh Hoover made himself into one of the better quarterbacks in the entire country.
00:45:07This is huge for TCU because they are clearly better top to bottom than SMU,
00:45:13but SMU still has the cachet from making the playoffs last year.
00:45:18And so this is a big symbolic opportunity for TCU to really,
00:45:22and Josh Hoover as well, to get a little more national shine.
00:45:26And, I mean, this is just the battle of the two Dallas schools with the most money.
00:45:29Yeah.
00:45:29You know, it's who should be on top here?
00:45:33Ooh, dude, a table at one of these clubs?
00:45:35Yeah.
00:45:36Going to be expensive.
00:45:37Would be rough.
00:45:39Again, with Oklahoma, Jackson Arnold going back, I really looked at Auburn,
00:45:44tried to make a case for him, but, again, Matier is just that dog, and...
00:45:49The thing about Auburn, though, Meg, Auburn has NFL talent.
00:45:53Like, as much as anybody.
00:45:54Look, I'm not, again, as I said, I tried to talk myself into Auburn.
00:45:59Again, Jackson Arnold going back, the old boyfriend theory.
00:46:02Great weapons.
00:46:03Situational, for sure.
00:46:05But I have to ride with my guy, Matier, and this Oklahoma team,
00:46:09because they've made me money.
00:46:11And, again, you don't, you've got to go back to a well if it's going to continue to...
00:46:15It's fair.
00:46:15...to bring a green up.
00:46:16Completely fair.
00:46:18Next game that I really had an eye on...
00:46:21Oh, I didn't really know what to do in that Michigan-Nebraska game,
00:46:24obviously, because the line, as I mentioned, was a little stinky.
00:46:28But why not put a little money on the $12 million man for an anytime touchdown?
00:46:33I love this one.
00:46:34Plus $245, Bryce Underwood, anytime touchdown.
00:46:38Sycophants, one and all.
00:46:40Look at you.
00:46:41Is there brown on y'all's noses?
00:46:44Where's Dave?
00:46:45I feel like that's good value, plus $245.
00:46:47Yeah, $12 million man.
00:46:48Maybe they take the shackles off him a little bit.
00:46:51To be fair, they did seem to unlock something in letting him run last week.
00:46:57Which is part of why, again, Cadick's saying that Nebraska lost a lot.
00:47:02So, I'm thinking he gets those wheels a-turning, and he gets in the end.
00:47:05I agree.
00:47:05Maybe even twice.
00:47:06Get those wheels a-turning.
00:47:08Get those wheels a-turning and burning.
00:47:10And lastly, I think it might be my favorite play.
00:47:15No, not my favorite play, but Florida team total under 21.5 against Miami.
00:47:22Is this just a hater play?
00:47:24Is this a Gator hater play, or what's the-
00:47:26I have zero faith in the Florida Gators.
00:47:29TJ Ligway has just thrown six picks already this year.
00:47:33He's got zero protection.
00:47:34I mean, look, DJ, a.k.a. workin' mixing it up, throwin' the wrong team.
00:47:41So, yeah, I don't trust this Florida team.
00:47:44That U defense is probably just gonna take them down.
00:47:47Florida team total under 21.5.
00:47:50And as of right now, those are really all of my plays.
00:47:54I might take a first-half Temple bet against Georgia Tech.
00:47:57I think they might be due to come out flat.
00:47:59I don't mind a first-half one.
00:48:01I'm not with you on the full game, because I believe in Tech.
00:48:04I am high up.
00:48:05And Brent Key, yeah.
00:48:06Look, I was just looking for a double-digit potential upset.
00:48:10But, again, I think Temple could hang in there first half.
00:48:14I do think Georgia Tech ends up whomping.
00:48:16But just a thought.
00:48:18Watch out, though.
00:48:18I think it was Dave who trusted Temple last week, first quarter,
00:48:22plus six-and-a-half.
00:48:24And John Mateer and company took care of that one.
00:48:27And then I'm also kind of interested in Clemson, minus 17-and-a-half.
00:48:31Obviously, they're going to have to come out and spank somebody eventually.
00:48:36Is it going to be Syracuse?
00:48:38I don't know.
00:48:4018 points still for a Clemson team that hasn't done much?
00:48:43Yeah.
00:48:44Hard to say.
00:48:45They have not been the same without Brett Venables.
00:48:47No.
00:48:48He –
00:48:48Like, those two guys were like Pepin and Jordan.
00:48:51And, like, together they're magic.
00:48:52And we'll see what OU is now.
00:48:54Now they have a real offense.
00:48:55But it just felt like maybe they should have found a way to keep them together forever.
00:48:59Yeah.
00:48:59I don't –
00:49:00Clemson –
00:49:01I don't know that there's ever been a more confusing team than Clemson.
00:49:04Yeah.
00:49:04Because a lot of people, when, like, teams start to fail,
00:49:07everybody loves to be like, oh, well, of course they are.
00:49:09But I'm sorry, guys.
00:49:11If we're doing a truly honest accounting, there were some signs, but it was not obvious.
00:49:16Like, if you go in NFL scouting circles right now,
00:49:20Clemson has top three-round talent at almost every single position group.
00:49:25But the last three years, that's all we –
00:49:26Top ten picks?
00:49:27We've heard Clemson beating their chest preseason, kind of like A&M.
00:49:31And it's like, now A&M's doing something.
00:49:33But Clemson, why were we beating –
00:49:35Why are you beating your chest at the beginning of the season?
00:49:37Because, okay, in my opinion, it was –
00:49:39I know it's a group, but at the same time, it's Groundhog's Day for them again, in my opinion.
00:49:44Like, we've seen this song and dance.
00:49:47I will say it takes me about ten years to, like, trick my brain.
00:49:52Yes.
00:49:52Like, Clemson's no longer good.
00:49:53Yes.
00:49:53Yeah, so I'm on, like, year three of being, like –
00:49:56I have seven more years of believing in Clemson.
00:49:58I still think of the Seattle Seahawks as a legion of boom.
00:50:01Oh, yeah.
00:50:01I don't know.
00:50:02That's so true.
00:50:02Watch out for them.
00:50:03I don't know if it'll ever leave.
00:50:05See that uniform.
00:50:06That is so good.
00:50:07That is so good.
00:50:08I'm just here so I don't get fined.
00:50:10All right, so this actually leads pretty well into the upset talk then.
00:50:14Looking around the country, mine is pretty easy.
00:50:18It's unranked Nebraska, ranked Michigan.
00:50:21I think Nebraska is the better team.
00:50:23I think they just have to overcome the burden of history.
00:50:26Yep.
00:50:26Meg, do you have a upset pick?
00:50:28I don't necessarily have the upset pick.
00:50:31Again, I think Temple would probably be – first half would be my play there.
00:50:37That's pretty much all I have in upset land.
00:50:40And, again, if you want to, again, I think Rutgers could win outright.
00:50:44It's only plus three.
00:50:45And then Texas Tech, I think, could win outright in Utah.
00:50:47I think you don't know this.
00:50:48What's the spread in Indiana, Illinois?
00:50:50I don't – you know what?
00:50:51I don't know because I can't bet it.
00:50:52Five and a half?
00:50:53It went up two yesterday.
00:50:56Upset pick of the week, Indiana over Illinois.
00:50:59Book it.
00:51:00Book it.
00:51:01Book it.
00:51:02Chief, Notre Dame.
00:51:04Notre Dame.
00:51:05Oh, no.
00:51:06If there was ever a time to play Purdue, it is right now.
00:51:11I do.
00:51:12It's like we need a gift from the football gods,
00:51:15and here it comes with the Boilermakers.
00:51:17So, I think last year Notre Dame put up like 66.
00:51:19It was like 66-7.
00:51:21This is a get-right game.
00:51:23I am very concerned about Chris Ashe.
00:51:25If you go – the defensive coordinator, if you go through his resume,
00:51:28my God, is it horrible.
00:51:29Fired at Arkansas.
00:51:30Fired as a DB coach.
00:51:32He was a scout last year because he didn't have a job,
00:51:35and then somehow he pops up.
00:51:37So, if Freeman starts getting involved with the defense,
00:51:39they fix that.
00:51:40They'll be fine.
00:51:41I think they pump Purdue this weekend.
00:51:43Yeah, I agree.
00:51:44So, it – yeah, it's –
00:51:4624 and a half, I'm taking it.
00:51:48I still kind of agree with your Notre Dame fan out there.
00:51:51Big Cat's copiumed in from Tuesday is pretty logical,
00:51:55which is that arguably you're in a better spot now than you were last year.
00:51:58I mean, you lost to two teams that look like they could be top ten,
00:52:00maybe even top five in the entire country.
00:52:03So, Purdue's a perfect game to score.
00:52:05That's how I started.
00:52:05He saved my fall.
00:52:06Would that take?
00:52:07Yeah.
00:52:07Yeah.
00:52:07Because I was like, well, I don't even care about football now.
00:52:10We're two weeks in and football season's over.
00:52:12That's the power of the copium den, guys.
00:52:15Every Tuesday here on Wake Up Barstool.
00:52:17Coming up next, we're going to do a little line shift.
00:52:20KDIC, Chief, thank you all so much.
00:52:22This is awesome, dude.
00:52:22Glass.
00:52:23We got Brandon Walker, Barstool Big Cat coming in.
00:52:25Megan, stay in here.
00:52:26We're going to give you picks.
00:52:28Continue to break down the weekend.
00:52:30Keep it locked on FS1.
00:52:32More in a couple minutes.
00:52:33Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool here on FS1.
00:52:36A little line change, guys.
00:52:38We do it every Friday.
00:52:39We got our picks for the weekend coming up.
00:52:42Brandon, Big Cat, myself.
00:52:44It's a competition going on all year long.
00:52:47Megan's still here hanging out with us, which is wonderful.
00:52:49Boys, what's up, man?
00:52:50How's the Friday going thus far?
00:52:52Good.
00:52:52Amazing.
00:52:53It's good.
00:52:53Great.
00:52:54Super.
00:52:55There's no better feeling than a Friday in the fall when you have, I don't know, 70 games
00:53:02I'm going to gamble on this weekend all in front of me.
00:53:05The world is my oyster.
00:53:07I had the thoughts of going undefeated this weekend.
00:53:10Probably going to win them all.
00:53:11Probably going to win them all.
00:53:12Yeah, it's the best.
00:53:13The best feeling.
00:53:14Yeah, you get to choose.
00:53:15Right now, you're winning everything.
00:53:16Correct.
00:53:17You did just deal.
00:53:18No, I actually, I'm going to, I'm going to bet Iowa tonight.
00:53:21I think I'm going to lose that one.
00:53:22I think you're going to lose that, too.
00:53:24I'm just being honest.
00:53:25Yeah, that's probably going to be a loss.
00:53:26Well, you could switch now since you think you're going to lose it.
00:53:29No.
00:53:29Okay.
00:53:30All right.
00:53:30It's just a loss.
00:53:31Set your expectations low and you can't be hurt.
00:53:33Yeah.
00:53:34You also just did deal with that most complicated of situations, a school carpool line.
00:53:39Oh, yeah.
00:53:40And especially like when you're, maybe you're the dad, you don't do it all the time for whatever
00:53:45reason, it can get so hard.
00:53:47You're getting honked at, yelled at.
00:53:49I used to fall asleep in line all the time.
00:53:51Yeah.
00:53:52Which was very embarrassing.
00:53:53How long was that line?
00:53:55What's that?
00:53:55You were falling asleep in the line?
00:53:57Yeah, I don't sleep a lot.
00:53:58And so like it would be one of those times where it'd be like maybe 20 minutes and I'd
00:54:02have nothing to do.
00:54:03Oh, see, my situation, I do do it every day with my kids.
00:54:06Okay.
00:54:06It's just like a city block and I just, I just find the most illegal spot to park, open
00:54:13the doors and just like throw them out.
00:54:16Like in the mask where they throw Jim Carrey out of the Bongo Club.
00:54:19Yeah.
00:54:20Oftentimes I'll like take a left on like, I'll like park going like opposite all the other
00:54:25cars.
00:54:26You know what I mean?
00:54:27Park on the wrong side of the street and just be like, whatever, we got to get this done.
00:54:30Of all the movies and TV shows to have a reference from, you chose the mask throwing
00:54:34him out of the club.
00:54:34Yeah, the Bongo Club.
00:54:35There's Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, there's all these shows where they throw people out.
00:54:39I don't know why me and my little brother were.
00:54:42Cameron Diaz.
00:54:44Cameron Diaz.
00:54:45Cameron Diaz.
00:54:46Okay.
00:54:46Actually, Megan, that's a very fair point.
00:54:48It's also Tommy Walker's favorite movie.
00:54:50I'd like to report that to you right now.
00:54:51Okay.
00:54:51So I'm sure Tommy's probably seen it like a hundred times.
00:54:55Me and my little brother were the same way.
00:54:56We used to watch that and Goonies on repeat, wore out the VHS.
00:55:00All right, guys, you two.
00:55:02Yeah.
00:55:02Got a little NFL matchup coming up.
00:55:04Yeah.
00:55:05Kind of it.
00:55:06Yeah, sure.
00:55:07I'm only representing the quarterback for one thing.
00:55:09He's just a Dak fan.
00:55:10I'm a Dak fan.
00:55:10Yeah.
00:55:11Okay.
00:55:11I love Dak.
00:55:12So this is a proxy war then for you.
00:55:14Yeah, sure.
00:55:14You're like, Rush, I'm not fully involved, but like, I do support Dak.
00:55:17But still, Bears, Cowboys, Bears at home, Big Cat.
00:55:23Yeah.
00:55:23I don't know what's in your heart.
00:55:25I got you.
00:55:25In terms of winning.
00:55:26I got you.
00:55:27What do you need to see so that you're not just miserable leaving this?
00:55:30I'm not going to tell you who's going to win this game.
00:55:32We don't need to.
00:55:33I don't know who's going to win this game, okay?
00:55:34What I'm going to tell you, though, is this is a gateway game.
00:55:38And what I mean by that, if the Bears can win this game, don't be shocked if we're sitting
00:55:45here in a month and a half and they're 5-4 or 6-3.
00:55:49That's what we love to see.
00:55:50If they lose this game, season's over.
00:55:53It's cooked.
00:55:54But this is a gateway game.
00:55:55I've looked at the schedule.
00:55:56I've crunched the numbers.
00:55:57I've done some advanced analytics.
00:55:58If they can win this game on Sunday, and again, I have no idea if they can stop the
00:56:03Cowboys even a little bit because Jalen Johnson's out now.
00:56:05They're banged up on defense.
00:56:07They have no pass rush.
00:56:09The Cowboys, I mean, the Cowboys, the Cowboys offense is really good.
00:56:14Yeah, look at this.
00:56:14Like, I'm just saying, if they can win on Sunday, 5-4 and 6-3, and that will be the
00:56:20shocker where everyone's like, I thought the Bears season was over when they were 0-2 and
00:56:23got dismantled by the Lions.
00:56:24So, this is the game.
00:56:26If they have any pride, this is the game.
00:56:29But yeah, it's going to be a tall task to stop the Cowboys offense.
00:56:33On the other side, Caleb should have a great game because the Cowboys defense just made
00:56:39Russell Wilson look 10 years younger.
00:56:41He was two yards away from his all-time passing record.
00:56:46He had 450 yards.
00:56:47He lit them up.
00:56:48So, it's going to be a shootout if the Bears win.
00:56:51Watch out.
00:56:51Guys, did you see that, guys?
00:56:53Here on live TV, you just got to witness the birth of that most wonderful of feelings,
00:57:00the rebirth of hope.
00:57:01Yeah.
00:57:01Oh, yeah.
00:57:02I do a gateway game every year, usually around this time, where I'm like, if the Bears can
00:57:06win this, then this can happen.
00:57:10But yeah, 0-3 start.
00:57:11If they lose this game, it's over.
00:57:13Just don't even play the rest of the season.
00:57:15Actually, Brandon, let's forget.
00:57:16I mean, because do you care to stump for the Cowboys here at all?
00:57:19Well, I do think the Cowboys are 1-1, right?
00:57:21And the Cowboys won that game the other day that was basically a college football game.
00:57:25There were mistakes after mistakes.
00:57:26The Cowboys' defense looked terrible.
00:57:27I would imagine this one's going to look a lot like it.
00:57:29Yeah.
00:57:29Like, the Bears' defense has been god-awful.
00:57:31Everybody, when they won't talk about the Bears and they talk to you, I assume they
00:57:34won't talk about Caleb.
00:57:35The Bears' defense has been terrible.
00:57:38Which is at odds with who the Bears should be.
00:57:40Right, correct.
00:57:41Like, when you think about the franchise identity.
00:57:43Correct.
00:57:43The Bears should have a great defense like the Ravens and Steelers every year.
00:57:46I don't care how bad those defenses are.
00:57:47They should be good every year because of the uniforms they wear.
00:57:50Yep.
00:57:50I just think people haven't really given credit.
00:57:53Dak is really good, and he does this joke where he's the 17th best quarterback in the
00:57:57NFL, and he's way better than that, and they're going to score a lot of points.
00:58:01I mean, it's not a joke.
00:58:01It is a joke.
00:58:02It's not a joke.
00:58:03It's a joke.
00:58:03You list all the quarterbacks you'd rather have over him, and he ends up at 17.
00:58:06I don't think you get to 17.
00:58:08Okay.
00:58:08You get to, like, 8.
00:58:09You don't think 17 is crazy.
00:58:14Yeah, 17 is crazy.
00:58:14Healthy Dak is very good.
00:58:17He's fine.
00:58:18He finished second in the MVP two years ago.
00:58:20That's awesome.
00:58:21Yeah, he's fine.
00:58:22Why is she talking?
00:58:24I feel like they are attacking you a little bit right now, Brandon.
00:58:26A little bit.
00:58:27A little bit.
00:58:27I'm not attacking.
00:58:28I'm sitting here saying Dak Prescott's fine.
00:58:30They're attacking you right now.
00:58:32That's not very nice.
00:58:33Don't do that.
00:58:33That was bad.
00:58:34I'm just saying facts.
00:58:35I mean, it's fine.
00:58:36It's fine.
00:58:37It's fine.
00:58:38It's fine.
00:58:38He's better than fine.
00:58:39Everything's fine.
00:58:40The general point here is he's better than fine.
00:58:42He's treated like he's fine.
00:58:43He's better than fine.
00:58:43He gets hurt a lot.
00:58:44We need the chyron to read Dak is fine.
00:58:46He's fine.
00:58:47He's better than fine.
00:58:48Okay, what about Thursday Night Football last night?
00:58:52Dolphins are losers.
00:58:53That's what about.
00:58:53Yeah, but they actually fought hard last night.
00:58:55That's the problem, Big Cat.
00:58:56No matter what they do, no matter how Tua looks in the first half,
00:59:00no matter what position they put themselves in,
00:59:01they're always going to rough a punter.
00:59:03They're always going to get a 15-yarder.
00:59:05They're going to do things losers do.
00:59:07But I want to ask you.
00:59:08He's going to throw the back-breaking interception every single time.
00:59:10Listen, I agree with you.
00:59:11I'm totally agreeing with you that they're losers,
00:59:14but I'm saying this was a – I actually, when we did PMT last night,
00:59:19I did a round of applause for the NFL.
00:59:21This is why the NFL is king,
00:59:23because the Dolphins are one of the worst teams in the league.
00:59:25The Bills might be the best team in the league,
00:59:27and this was a very competitive game for four quarters.
00:59:31So credits to the NFL.
00:59:32They did it again.
00:59:32They know how to make these teams really close in skill level.
00:59:36How about this, guys?
00:59:37Tell me if you agree with this.
00:59:38This is pretty brutal for Mike McDaniel to me,
00:59:41because he actually coached his ass off last night.
00:59:45Correct.
00:59:45Like, they have no explosivity.
00:59:47They're having to dink and dunk against the defense.
00:59:49It's so much better.
00:59:50They can't generate any pressure.
00:59:51Like, they're so much worse.
00:59:53And yet, to Big Cat's point, it was 21-21.
00:59:55You had stopped Josh Allen for a third time.
00:59:57I know.
00:59:58I know Tyreek Hill is across the hill and going down a little bit.
01:00:01But he's still explosive related to a lot of other NFL receivers.
01:00:05A-Chan's very explosive.
01:00:06Like, they have these explosive parts.
01:00:08They have these parts that can score a lot of points,
01:00:10and when they get in the groove, they get going.
01:00:12But they're going to do something stupid every single time.
01:00:14It's the roughing the punter.
01:00:15It's the interceptions.
01:00:16It's everything.
01:00:17They just do things that losers do.
01:00:19And the Bills are really good.
01:00:20But if you look at Tua's stat line,
01:00:22you would never guess that this game was as close as it was.
01:00:25Yeah, he didn't throw for that many yards.
01:00:26No, that's my point, right?
01:00:28McDaniel was scheming as hard as he could possibly scheme,
01:00:31and he had it.
01:00:32And then they're roughing the punter.
01:00:33But that's what bad teams do.
01:00:34Yeah, and the Bills are a really good team.
01:00:35And the Bills are proving that, you know,
01:00:38they're kind of doing the opposite of what the Cincinnati Bengals have tried to do
01:00:43in the fact that the Bills do not have a premier pass catcher.
01:00:47Yeah.
01:00:48They do have a premier offensive line for Josh Allen.
01:00:50And then you saw last night the Bills had six receivers have two or more receptions.
01:00:56He spreads the ball around to everyone.
01:00:58It doesn't matter who gets the ball.
01:01:00They know that if they give Josh Allen a little bit of time,
01:01:03he's going to find the open guy.
01:01:05And he had all the time in the world last night.
01:01:06Yeah, their offensive line, I don't know why we don't talk about it more,
01:01:09because we talk about the Eagles or the Lions.
01:01:11The Bills' offensive line is fantastic, and they can run the football.
01:01:14I think James Cook might be one of my favorite running backs to watch run the ball.
01:01:17He looked insane last night.
01:01:18The way he shifts and moves, he's really patient.
01:01:21They said it on the broadcast last night, that James Cook has kind of almost,
01:01:26like the last two years, he's kind of figured out exactly how to play the running back position,
01:01:31and it shows when you're watching him play, it's just a fun, fun watch.
01:01:34Also, last night, Dan, he became the first player to go over 100 rush yards
01:01:38in 36 games against the Dolphins.
01:01:41That's a pretty unbelievable streak by Miami.
01:01:43Oh, to a Dolphins' single player.
01:01:45That's 36 yards, 36 in a row.
01:01:47Yeah, that's what I thought, too.
01:01:49What?
01:01:49The Dolphins hadn't allowed a 100-yard rusher in 36 games.
01:01:52Yes, yes.
01:01:52Sorry, did I butcher that?
01:01:53That's what I tried to say.
01:01:54The way you said it, I thought he just rushed for 100 yards his 36th straight game against the Dolphins.
01:01:58Oh, no, I'm an idiot.
01:01:59My bad, guys.
01:01:59You guys want a little fun fact?
01:02:02My head on Friday mornings is all full of facts and stats.
01:02:06Sure.
01:02:06How many games in a row do you think Josh Jacobs has scored a touchdown?
01:02:10One, two, seven.
01:02:13I mean, the nature of the question is making me want to say nine.
01:02:1522.
01:02:1611.
01:02:17What?
01:02:17You've got 11 in a row.
01:02:19Isn't that crazy?
01:02:19I was half right.
01:02:21He scored 11 in a row.
01:02:22The record, obviously, Christian McCaffrey was 17.
01:02:25McCaffrey did 17.
01:02:2617.
01:02:27Remember that when we got to that point where it was like minus 300 every time?
01:02:30But 11 is like, that isn't talked about.
01:02:33That's a pretty crazy stat.
01:02:34Yeah, yeah, Packers, too, looking like they should cruise to 3-0.
01:02:38What?
01:02:39The same thing as last night.
01:02:41That's where the NFL gets you.
01:02:42That's why the NFL's king.
01:02:43The NFL gets you.
01:02:44Good job, NFL.
01:02:46They got pros on that side, too.
01:02:47Yeah.
01:02:47Yeah, it's razor-thin margins, but the Browns will shoot themselves in the foot.
01:02:51You're making me want to take the Browns.
01:02:53The Browns will shoot themselves in the foot.
01:02:54Take him.
01:02:55How dare you.
01:02:56Take him.
01:02:56I mean, I already put in my pick, so I can't flip.
01:02:59I'm not allowed to flip because of Dave.
01:03:01Dictator.
01:03:01Wait, but that's on the college show, right?
01:03:04Yeah, but he's like, and then-
01:03:05He's following you everywhere?
01:03:06Everyone you jumped on, and yeah, they're following me everywhere.
01:03:08Oh, they're doing our advisors, too?
01:03:09The pick police are crazy.
01:03:11I live in a prison.
01:03:13They say, hey, Dan, pick every single game on the weekend, but make sure you pick it on
01:03:17Tuesday morning.
01:03:18Yeah, pick.
01:03:18That's insane.
01:03:19Pick it by Monday night.
01:03:20And don't have a change of opinion whatsoever.
01:03:22Mm-hmm.
01:03:22They basically just don't want me to win, to look good.
01:03:26Yeah, they just pigeonhole you.
01:03:27They want to just keep me down.
01:03:29So that's what they're going to do.
01:03:29Taking your sunshine away.
01:03:30Yeah, they're taking my sunshine.
01:03:31They're caging a bird, a songbird.
01:03:34With beautiful feathers.
01:03:35Yes.
01:03:36Didn't Dave have some flip picks recently?
01:03:39Yeah, of course.
01:03:40He's a hypocrite.
01:03:40I think Dave's allowed to do that, apparently.
01:03:41Yeah, he's a hypocrite.
01:03:42Oh, wow.
01:03:43Mm-mm-mm.
01:03:43I hate to see it.
01:03:44Again, guys, check out Pick'em.
01:03:46And again, college football show.
01:03:48Brandon, real quick, before we go to break.
01:03:49Yeah.
01:03:50We getting excited for tomorrow, bro?
01:03:51Oh, yeah.
01:03:52Oh, yeah.
01:03:52Stay excited.
01:03:53Oh, bro, college football show live in front of that crowd is going to be electric.
01:03:58I thought Mississippi State had a big game.
01:04:00Well, okay, so last year we played a MAAC team and we lost 41-14.
01:04:04This year we're playing Northern Illinois.
01:04:06Oh, you're going to kill them.
01:04:07I'm not excited about it.
01:04:09I think we'll handle business pretty good because we're better.
01:04:12But I'm nervous.
01:04:13Yeah.
01:04:13But you are going down to Starkville next week.
01:04:15I am going to the Tennessee game next week.
01:04:16There is a business.
01:04:18Come on, T-Bob.
01:04:19What?
01:04:20Come on.
01:04:20What are we doing?
01:04:21I want to talk about this.
01:04:23Why?
01:04:23There's a biscuits and gravy wrestling competition.
01:04:25Are you going to be competing in it?
01:04:26With sexy women going on.
01:04:28I'm not going to be competing at it.
01:04:29Why?
01:04:30Because I'm...
01:04:31Same cup size.
01:04:33Oh, my God.
01:04:34That's just...
01:04:35Is this the Bears?
01:04:36Is this the Bears doing this?
01:04:38Brandon has boobs.
01:04:39That was a good joke.
01:04:40That was a good joke.
01:04:41What was that for?
01:04:42That was a good joke.
01:04:43Will you wake up a Friday morning for this?
01:04:45That was a good joke.
01:04:46Oh, freaking Bears, man.
01:04:48They've got Dan lashing out left and right.
01:04:50Just because it's...
01:04:51No, that wasn't a lashing out.
01:04:52That was a joke.
01:04:53Biscuits and gravy.
01:04:53I would like to see you wrestle.
01:04:54I'd like to see you compete.
01:04:55I'm sorry.
01:04:56Are biscuits and gravy cool?
01:04:57Yes.
01:04:57Yes.
01:04:58Is wrestling cool?
01:04:59Yes.
01:04:59Are beautiful women cool?
01:05:00Yes.
01:05:00Sounds great.
01:05:01Great.
01:05:02Why are you hollering?
01:05:03That's actually...
01:05:03You just...
01:05:04That was a great...
01:05:05Yeah.
01:05:05Selling of it.
01:05:06That was a great pitch.
01:05:06Yeah.
01:05:06All right.
01:05:07When we get back here at Wake Up Barstool, we've got to get to our picks for the weekend.
01:05:11The competition continues, guys.
01:05:13More Wake Up Barstool coming up right here on FS1.
01:05:18What's happening, y'all?
01:05:19Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
01:05:21Here at Barstool Sports, we consider ourselves a company full of football guys.
01:05:27Now, that could be boys, girls, whatever, but football guys, guys who love ball.
01:05:31And right now, I am so pleased to be joined by Tom Sillow.
01:05:36If you don't know Tom Sillow, this is one of the ultimate football guy stories of all time.
01:05:41Tom, back in the 80s, dropped out of high school, quit football to, in his words, pursue maybe other things.
01:05:48And then, now, decades later, is pursuing his dream of playing college football division.
01:05:57Live coming at 58 years old.
01:05:59Tom, what's up, brother?
01:06:01Good morning, gentlemen.
01:06:03And Megan, good morning.
01:06:04Good morning.
01:06:06Hell yeah, Tom.
01:06:07Hey, okay, so give us a little back story.
01:06:09In your words, what happened in high school?
01:06:11How did you get to where you are now?
01:06:14You know, back in high school, I was athletic.
01:06:17I love playing sports, you know, baseball, basketball, football.
01:06:23And I had signed up for football, and I was 15 years old.
01:06:29And, but I seemed to have a different kind of passion, too.
01:06:33I got introduced to, let's just say, some things that I took a liking to.
01:06:38And once that happened, I kind of shoved some other things to the side, and I just went
01:06:48down a different path that I didn't necessarily see coming, but that's just the reality of
01:06:52it.
01:06:52That's the path I took.
01:06:54And so I ended up never going to college.
01:06:58You know, it was always a dream of playing college football and college basketball, too.
01:07:02I love basketball, so stay tuned on that one.
01:07:05Oh, wow.
01:07:06Yeah.
01:07:07I'm just saying.
01:07:09I'm just saying.
01:07:11So, Tom, Brandon Walker here, number one college football media personality in the world.
01:07:15I'm 46 years old.
01:07:17I get hurt getting out of my car in the morning.
01:07:19How is your body holding up doing these practices every single day at 58 years old?
01:07:24Listen, I'm just going to be straight.
01:07:27It's tough.
01:07:28It's really tough.
01:07:29Getting through camp was kind of brutal, honestly.
01:07:34I mean, you're talking almost two weeks of maybe like 12 to 14-hour days.
01:07:41You know, we would have a mandatory team breakfast, and then we would have some meetings and then
01:07:47walkthroughs, mandatory lunch, a little bit of an afternoon gap, and then we would have
01:07:54afternoon practice, mandatory dinner, and then more meetings.
01:07:57And we would wrap up 9, 9.30 at night.
01:08:01And then you're stacking these days, one right after the other.
01:08:04It's tough.
01:08:06And, you know, listen, just getting through one college football practice, one two-and-a-half
01:08:13to three-hour practice is a challenge.
01:08:16And, you know, unapologetically, I will say my conditioning is off the charts.
01:08:23I mean, to just try to stack this up day after day after day, it's not easy.
01:08:28And then you throw in studies and classes and life.
01:08:33So, yeah, it's a challenge.
01:08:35But my body's feeling it.
01:08:37I'm not going to lie.
01:08:38So, Tom, are we going to get you in a game?
01:08:41I mean, what's going on with Coach?
01:08:42I heard Coach is maybe, like, being prejudiced to your age, not getting you, giving you some
01:08:47– like, what's going on here?
01:08:49We got to get you into a game.
01:08:51Maybe just – I'm not saying you got to play every down, but maybe you're, you know,
01:08:55a third down package when you're just going after the quarterback.
01:08:58Why aren't we getting some game time?
01:08:59Let's get you going.
01:09:00Well, I would love that.
01:09:02Listen, I'm working my way to that point.
01:09:05I really am.
01:09:05Listen, I'm grinding every day, every day.
01:09:10And I'm thinking stuff through every night.
01:09:12And I would love nothing more than to sprint – listen, when my number's called, and it'll
01:09:17be called at some point, I'm going to look like Usain Bolt sprinting out on that field.
01:09:21I cannot wait.
01:09:24And listen, I don't have to over-explain this to you guys.
01:09:27You know, football is a tough sport.
01:09:29It's very physical.
01:09:30And guys are starting to get banged up a little bit.
01:09:33And so, you know, I'm getting a lot of scout team reps, you know.
01:09:37I'm getting knocked around there.
01:09:39But, you know, I'm working it, man, and just keeping ready.
01:09:44I'm excited.
01:09:44I can't wait.
01:09:46Tom, what's it like being back with the boys, dude?
01:09:49I mean, like, what's that relationship like?
01:09:51How do they treat you, you, them?
01:09:53It's got to be just pretty surreal being surrounded by all these 18- to 22-year-olds.
01:10:00And you summed it up perfectly.
01:10:02It is kind of surreal at times.
01:10:04But listen, it's been great.
01:10:07These guys have welcomed me with open arms.
01:10:09And our relationship is just getting better and better all the time.
01:10:13And, you know, when I first came in, I didn't want respect handed to me.
01:10:19I didn't want it given to me.
01:10:21My mindset was, I'm going to come in here and earn it.
01:10:24So we had to do some lifting tests.
01:10:27And I'm well-versed in the weight room.
01:10:29That was no problem.
01:10:31Then we had to do a conditioning test where the lineman, we had to run goal line to 15 and back in six seconds.
01:10:40Okay.
01:10:40Maybe not a big deal, right?
01:10:41But you got to knock it out 16 times.
01:10:44Yep.
01:10:45And so with a little bit of break in between.
01:10:48So I knocked out 16 for 16.
01:10:50And not a shame to say I smoked a number of guys in the process, too.
01:10:54So I got their attention right out of the gate.
01:10:59And so, again, I wanted to earn that respect and not have it handed to me.
01:11:05And I'll just say, too, another way that I've connected with the guys, I have three kids that are all older probably than most of my teammates.
01:11:13And my youngest son is 21 years old.
01:11:17And he recently competed.
01:11:18And my apologies ahead of time to Mr. Beast.
01:11:21But he competed in a Mr. Beast tournament.
01:11:24Oh.
01:11:24And when I heard about this, I had no idea who he was.
01:11:28I did a Google search.
01:11:30And I'm like, wow, okay.
01:11:32And so when I told my teammates, hey, my son is going to compete in a Beast tournament, I mean, they were going crazy, crazy.
01:11:41This is a cool guy.
01:11:42He's the cool dad.
01:11:43Yeah.
01:11:44So the tournament has since ended.
01:11:47And actually, tomorrow evening, I'm trying to secure a place here on campus, just kind of like a team-building event.
01:11:54We're going to have a watch party at Arizona YouTube tomorrow.
01:11:57So I'd like to have a watch party.
01:11:59I'm going to have some food catered in and get together with the team.
01:12:03And we're just going to hoot it up, baby.
01:12:05We're going to root him on, you know.
01:12:07Hell yeah.
01:12:08So I can't wait.
01:12:09Tomorrow's Saturday.
01:12:10Do you have a game?
01:12:11Yes.
01:12:12We do it.
01:12:13Early.
01:12:13Yeah, but he doesn't play.
01:12:15Okay.
01:12:15All right.
01:12:15I was just wondering.
01:12:16Maybe let's focus on the game, Tom.
01:12:17No, tomorrow night.
01:12:19Yeah.
01:12:19Maybe you will play tomorrow.
01:12:20We're not going to cancel the game for the watch party.
01:12:24The watch party's at night.
01:12:25Okay.
01:12:25Okay.
01:12:26All right.
01:12:26Just making sure our priorities are where they need to be, Tom.
01:12:29Yeah, I'm with you, brother.
01:12:30I need to get you in the game.
01:12:31I want to see you in the game.
01:12:32I need you to start.
01:12:34I need to see you chasing the quarterback.
01:12:37I feel like you could get a sack.
01:12:38Yeah, he's doing a sack dance from like 1972.
01:12:42Well, listen, I don't know if I'd do a Mark Gastineau kind of dance, but that would be
01:12:47the thrill of a lifetime.
01:12:48And I'll tell you, if I have a beat on the quarterback, he better have had a good pre-energy
01:12:53that day because I'm going to be hunting him down.
01:12:55I'm going to be chasing.
01:12:56Yeah, man.
01:12:57It's a lifetime of dreams thrown into that rush.
01:13:00Tom, what are the dynamics of how this played out?
01:13:04Like, how did this story, how did this idea originate?
01:13:07And when did you think, like, I can actually maybe do this?
01:13:14Let me go back.
01:13:16The origin of it is I trained here at the local YMCA for years, for quite a number of years.
01:13:23And one of the guys at the gym, I got to know quite well, Mark, Mark Sittler.
01:13:30He's a Lycoming grad.
01:13:32He actually played here in the 1980s.
01:13:36And so I got to know Mark very well.
01:13:41And, you know, I not all that long ago reached out to Mark and I said, Mark, you know, I feel
01:13:48like I need a change in my life.
01:13:50You know, I just wanted a reboot, you know, life would become a little bit mundane and
01:13:56you can't just sit in the recliner, you know, put your feet up and wait for text, a text
01:14:02message from change.
01:14:03It don't happen that way.
01:14:04So I reached out to Mark and I said, I think I'm still physically capable of pulling this
01:14:09off.
01:14:10I'd like to give it a shot.
01:14:11Well, Mark is a trustee now for Lycoming College and he's good friends with the head
01:14:16coach, Mike Clark.
01:14:19And so he reached out to him and said, hey, you know, I got this guy that's interested
01:14:25in playing college football, always been a dream of his.
01:14:28So I had some conversations with coach and he understood pretty quickly that I was very
01:14:34serious about this.
01:14:35And so when we decided to move forward with it and major props to coach and Lycoming College
01:14:44for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.
01:14:48And but as it started to move forward, I just I locked in, man.
01:14:53I locked in.
01:14:54And my conditioning work was off the charts.
01:14:59And I came into camp, you know, about as prepared as I could.
01:15:03And but even having said that, it's still tough, man.
01:15:07It's college football and it's physical and it's a grind.
01:15:11It is a grind, but it's incredible to watch from afar, man.
01:15:15What a story.
01:15:16Follow your dreams, guys.
01:15:17We have the 64 year old tuba player at LSU following his.
01:15:20We got Tom Sillow, Lycoming College playing the game at 58.
01:15:25You look great, by the way.
01:15:26Yeah, let's go.
01:15:27Hey, look, Tom, best of luck to your Raiders come Sunday.
01:15:30Massive game there as well.
01:15:31You have an excellent day, my friend.
01:15:33Best of luck with this season.
01:15:34I hope you get that sack.
01:15:36Thank you so much for waking up with us.
01:15:38Yeah, I appreciate it very much.
01:15:40Yes.
01:15:41Pleasure meeting you all.
01:15:42Thanks, Tom.
01:15:42Best of luck.
01:15:44Oh, that's awesome, guys.
01:15:45What a great story.
01:15:46Shout out to our wonderful production team.
01:15:48Never grow up.
01:15:49Yeah.
01:15:49I really wanted to ask if he had a fun nickname from any of his teammates.
01:15:53Oh, man.
01:15:54Well, why didn't you?
01:15:55Well, I didn't want to interrupt the interview.
01:15:56No, no.
01:15:57OK, we'll talk about it here in the break.
01:15:59We'll talk about it.
01:15:59All right.
01:16:00Love it.
01:16:00Coming up next, it is once again time to enter the pickoff.
01:16:06Myself, Big Cat, Brandon, one week in the books, second week coming up.
01:16:10We'll check the records.
01:16:11Do it once again.
01:16:13Wake up Barstool, guys.
01:16:14It is time to do some picks.
01:16:16Now, of course, we already had Megan's Money Corner.
01:16:19She gave you some excellent plays over the weekend, but now we have a season-long competition
01:16:25going down.
01:16:26It is myself.
01:16:26It's Big Cat.
01:16:27It's Brandon.
01:16:28It's five picks a week.
01:16:29Let's go ahead and put the records up from last week, guys.
01:16:31See what happened here.
01:16:33Oh, there we go.
01:16:34There we go.
01:16:35There we go.
01:16:36Solid start.
01:16:36Solid start for the boys.
01:16:38No.
01:16:38No.
01:16:39Who did the art?
01:16:40I actually like it.
01:16:42Why is my green line so much more defined than the others?
01:16:44It really is.
01:16:45I mean, if they're trying to basically say, hey, here's a show of guys who are in their
01:16:49fifties.
01:16:50Uh-huh.
01:16:50Yeah.
01:16:51They nailed it.
01:16:52No, T-Bob, you look like a Bitmoji.
01:16:53They nailed it.
01:16:54You look like a little happy Bitmoji, don't I?
01:16:57I look like Ellen.
01:16:58Yeah.
01:16:58Yeah.
01:16:58A little bit.
01:16:59I've gotten...
01:17:01Yeah.
01:17:01They used to do those message boards back in the day when you would play somebody and
01:17:05the opposing fans would give you lookalikes.
01:17:07Sure.
01:17:08I got...
01:17:08Those were good.
01:17:09I got Roseanne.
01:17:10I got Ralphie from The Simpsons.
01:17:13Roseanne.
01:17:14Yeah.
01:17:14I got...
01:17:15I got probably the worst grouping of characters ever.
01:17:19All right.
01:17:19Who wants to go first with this week's picks?
01:17:22I'll go first.
01:17:23He needs to go first.
01:17:23All right.
01:17:24I'll go first.
01:17:24I'm the loser of the week.
01:17:27All right.
01:17:27So, I'm doing something a little different this week.
01:17:29I have my respect picks.
01:17:31These are my respect picks in college football.
01:17:33These are teams that I've already bet an over on and won this year.
01:17:37And I'm just going back to the well.
01:17:38So, I got Arkansas, Memphis, 62 and a half.
01:17:41Arkansas doesn't play defense.
01:17:42They play great offense.
01:17:43Yeah.
01:17:43So, SMU, TCU, same deal.
01:17:46SMU can't get a stop.
01:17:48Right.
01:17:48So, that's 62 and a half.
01:17:49And then Tulane, Ole Miss, 61 and a half.
01:17:52Ole Miss, Arkansas matchup last week.
01:17:54That was the easiest over on the board.
01:17:56Yep.
01:17:56I gave that out.
01:17:57And then in the NFL.
01:17:59So, 49ers, Cardinals, 49ers minus two and a half.
01:18:03I looked at it.
01:18:03Actually, the Cardinals are really good against Kyle Shanahan.
01:18:06They're nine and seven against Kyle Shanahan.
01:18:09Yeah.
01:18:09It's actually his worst record against any opponent.
01:18:12And Kyler Murray's four and four against the 49ers.
01:18:16But, he's one and three against the 49ers with Robert Sala as the defensive coordinator.
01:18:21Robert Sala, if you've read any of the stuff coming out of the 49ers and the beat reporters,
01:18:26this defense is bought all the way back in.
01:18:28So, it's less a bet on, like, Mac Jones.
01:18:31I also just don't think the Cardinals.
01:18:32I'm not buying the Cardinals yet.
01:18:34They beat the Saints.
01:18:35They beat the Panthers.
01:18:36Those are two of what could be the worst teams in the NFL.
01:18:38They also beat them by one possession.
01:18:40Kind of left them in the game.
01:18:41And the Jets.
01:18:42Jets plus seven.
01:18:43I took them last week.
01:18:44Going back to the Jets.
01:18:45Going back to the Jets.
01:18:47I think the Jets could win this game outright.
01:18:48Who's playing quarterback this week for the Jets?
01:18:50Tyrod Taylor, which is actually an upgrade from Justin Fields in terms of passing the ball.
01:18:55Baker Mayfield is incredible.
01:18:57Baker Mayfield is awesome.
01:18:59The Bucs have won two games late by, you know, a very small margin.
01:19:03They're giving seven points.
01:19:06They also don't have an offensive line.
01:19:08They're down three starters on the offensive line.
01:19:10Everybody got hurt.
01:19:11Elijah Cansey also out.
01:19:13Coming off Monday.
01:19:14Coming off of Monday.
01:19:15The Bucs have started 0-2, I think, three or four years in a row and then lost in week three.
01:19:21This is also a line in the sand.
01:19:22We started 2-0 in the last week three.
01:19:23Sorry, 2-0.
01:19:24Sorry.
01:19:24And then lost in week three.
01:19:26This is a line in the sand game for the Jets.
01:19:29Like, what are you?
01:19:30Do you have pride?
01:19:31Aaron Glenn trying to get the things going in the right direction.
01:19:33I just think that this defense, they got kind of embarrassed by the Bills.
01:19:37They didn't have a great game against the Steelers.
01:19:39They're now going up against three backup offensive linemen.
01:19:44Abuka might be out.
01:19:46Sauce Gardner has been playing well.
01:19:47He's going to go on Mike Evans.
01:19:48I like the Jets.
01:19:49I think they're going to maybe be in this game.
01:19:50How is everybody hurt on this Bucs team, dude?
01:19:53Yeah.
01:19:54How's Steven Che doing?
01:19:55Cody Mock out for the year.
01:19:56That was a huge blow.
01:19:57Tristan Worf still not back.
01:19:58Credit to Cody for finishing the game, though.
01:20:00Yeah.
01:20:00That's crazy to have a season ending.
01:20:02But, I mean, that guy's like, that's his whole persona.
01:20:05It's just tough badass.
01:20:06Yeah.
01:20:06Brandon, I'll go next.
01:20:08So, all right.
01:20:10My picks.
01:20:11I'm starting on the college ranks.
01:20:12I'm going to go Auburn plus seven.
01:20:15Megan, you've kind of destabilized some of my confidence here.
01:20:18Yeah, I don't like that pick.
01:20:19Okay.
01:20:20Okay.
01:20:20I don't think you've ever liked that pick.
01:20:22No, John Mateer.
01:20:23You called me a P word, a D bag.
01:20:25I'll tell you which picks.
01:20:26All right.
01:20:26I like Tulane Ole Miss.
01:20:27We have that pick together.
01:20:28Okay.
01:20:28There we go.
01:20:29Good.
01:20:29I hate the Vikings pick.
01:20:32I love the Vikings pick.
01:20:33Why?
01:20:34Let's talk about the Vikings real quick.
01:20:35Because they both have backup quarterbacks, and the Vikings are the only team in that game
01:20:38that might get better because of it.
01:20:39Bro, course.
01:20:40Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:20:41Yep.
01:20:41Jake Browning is four and three as a star.
01:20:43No, no.
01:20:43Jake Browning's good, too.
01:20:44But to Brandon's point, Carson Wentz is an upgrade over McCarthy.
01:20:48Jake Browning's still frisky and good, but he's not an upgrade over Burrow.
01:20:52I don't know.
01:20:52Carson Wentz, so he's the first player ever to start on six different teams in six consecutive years.
01:20:59Carson Wentz also got there on August 24th.
01:21:02How much does he know about this offense?
01:21:04But did you see last week when JJ had the baby?
01:21:08Did you see what they said after the Wentz practice?
01:21:10I'm just saying.
01:21:11Ball didn't touch the ground.
01:21:12I'm just saying.
01:21:12Ball didn't touch the ground.
01:21:14It's not good, and Jake Browning might be good.
01:21:17I think Carson Wentz is just smart enough and veteran enough to decide, okay, just throw
01:21:20it to Justin Jefferson every single time.
01:21:22Yep.
01:21:23That was my take as well.
01:21:24Okay, but Jake Browning has that with Jamar Chase and Team Indians.
01:21:28Okay, tell me if you appreciate this kind of dumb logic.
01:21:32Shane Steichen is a quarterback whisperer, right?
01:21:37Okay.
01:21:37Okay, when Carson Wentz was at his best in Philly, he was with Shane Steichen.
01:21:43Okay.
01:21:43Kevin O'Connell is also a quarterback whisperer.
01:21:46Hold on.
01:21:46So I think O'Connell can use Wentz like a meat puppet.
01:21:49So I'm not there yet with Kevin O'Connell being a QB whisperer.
01:21:53Oh, no.
01:21:54No.
01:21:54Because everyone says, like, Sean McVay, Kyle Shannon, these guys are quarterback whispersers.
01:22:00The quarterbacks, the backup quarterbacks who've played for Kevin O'Connell have not
01:22:03been great.
01:22:04Yeah.
01:22:04Like, Josh Dobbs had those first two games, then he fell off a cliff.
01:22:08Jaron Hall played one of the worst games I've ever seen played.
01:22:10I'm not there yet.
01:22:11If he can fix Carson Wentz, then yes, I'll be there on saying Kevin O'Connell's a QB whisperer.
01:22:16Okay.
01:22:16I also think Kevin O'Connell, I don't know if you guys saw who the Vikings signed, but
01:22:20he's like, he's already on to his next one where he's like, I'm going to fix everyone.
01:22:23They signed Desmond Ritter.
01:22:25So he's like, I'm going to do the hardest thing ever.
01:22:27Good call.
01:22:27I'm going to fix Carson Wentz, then I'm going to fix Desmond Ritter.
01:22:30All right, I'm going Auburn plus seven, Hugh Freeze underdog, ton of talent.
01:22:33I'm going Nebraska Moneyline.
01:22:36I like them in this game.
01:22:37Screw taking the points or whatever.
01:22:39Tulane Ole Miss over.
01:22:41You nailed it.
01:22:41That's obvious.
01:22:42The defenses are terrible.
01:22:43Trinidad Chambliss is very exciting.
01:22:45Vikings minus three.
01:22:46And then this one I was a bit unsure of, but I think this is a Chargers year to really
01:22:51assert themselves.
01:22:52Chargers minus two and a half.
01:22:53Broncos, Brandon, what you got?
01:22:55All right.
01:22:56So I am winning this competition.
01:22:57I'm three and two.
01:22:58I'm in first place.
01:23:00And my picks are, of course, my favorite pick of the weekend is TCU minus
01:23:03six and a half against SMU.
01:23:04I think TCU is a good, solid team.
01:23:07I think they've got a decent defense.
01:23:08SMU has no defense whatsoever.
01:23:10I like the Vikings minus three against the Bengals.
01:23:12I have Nebraska Moneyline as well.
01:23:14Look at us.
01:23:14And then I think Missouri is going to destroy South Carolina.
01:23:18And I'm going back to the well with Southern Miss, who is a pretty good team down there.
01:23:22They've got all of Marshall's team from last year.
01:23:24They destroyed App State last week.
01:23:26They're on the road against Louisiana Tech this week.
01:23:27I like Southern Miss.
01:23:28They're on the road at La Tech.
01:23:29And they're an underdog.
01:23:30Plus five.
01:23:30They're an underdog.
01:23:31So you guys both have Nebraska.
01:23:32I'm actually on the other side in that game.
01:23:34So, and I get it.
01:23:35I'll tell you why.
01:23:36I don't think Nebraska is going to be able to play up front against Michigan's offense.
01:23:40I think it goes exactly into what Michigan wants to do.
01:23:42They're going to want to run the ball.
01:23:43Nebraska has a decent secondary, but they're untested in stopping the run.
01:23:49And that's what Michigan's going to want to do.
01:23:50X's and O's, I kind of agree with you.
01:23:52This is more of a Met rule play.
01:23:54So, Met rule, third year, this is the biggest game they'll play early this season.
01:23:59This sets them up for everything down the line that they can do.
01:24:02And they got to, that place is going to be a madhouse.
01:24:05If it's going to be any time for Nebraska, it's now.
01:24:07And that's why I'm betting.
01:24:08He lost too much weight, though.
01:24:09Under what, any time touchdown?
01:24:11Yeah.
01:24:11We lost too much weight.
01:24:12And Biff Pogey did not.
01:24:14He gained weight.
01:24:15I like to think that Biff just uses lines from Back to the Future to bully the assistants.
01:24:20I'm just saying.
01:24:20When they're screwing up.
01:24:21I want a fatter coach.
01:24:24But here's the deal.
01:24:25But Dylan Raiola is actually good now.
01:24:27Okay.
01:24:28He's been good thus far.
01:24:29I'll never say that because of the cosplay that he does.
01:24:33You just can't get the Mahomes out.
01:24:34I can't get it out of my head.
01:24:35It's so bizarre.
01:24:36It is weird.
01:24:37It's so weird.
01:24:39He just wants to be like Mike.
01:24:40Yeah, but it's so weird that he doesn't just admit that that's what he's doing.
01:24:43He's had comments where he's like, God, man.
01:24:45Oh, no.
01:24:45He does lie about it.
01:24:46No, but that's the best part.
01:24:48No, I think that's the weirdest part.
01:24:49No, he's given us a new technique where you do something that is obviously your fault.
01:24:53And then you say, hey, you know, it's God.
01:24:56It's not in my hands, dude.
01:24:57It's God's plan.
01:24:59All right, guys.
