00:06let me say a couple of notes of appreciation first of all to the prime minister of pakistan
00:10and to field marshal manir who were both incredible hosts and whatever shortcomings
00:17of the negotiation it wasn't because of the pakistanis who did an amazing job
00:21and really tried to help us and the iranians bridge the gap okay okay we can also think of
00:27they tried something and this is what it is they did not invite the israel all right
00:32and get to a deal we've been at it now for 21 hours and uh we've had a number of
00:39substantive
00:40discussions with the iranians that's the good news the bad news is that we have not reached the
00:45agreement and i think that's bad news for iran much more than it's bad news for the united states of
00:49america so we go back to the united states having now you can see the trump at ufc fight at
00:56this war
00:56situation trump is watching the ufc fight wow come to an agreement we've made very clear what our red
01:03lines are what things we're willing to accommodate them on and what things we're not willing to
01:07accommodate them on and we've made that as clear as we possibly could and they have chosen not to
01:13accept our terms yes iran chosen not to accept the u.s terms questions
01:23precisely what have they rejected here um can you can you help us understand it a little bit
01:29well i won't go into all the details because i don't want to negotiate in public after we negotiated
01:34for 21 hours in private but the simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment
01:39that they will not seek a nuclear weapon uranium not seek the tools that would enable them to
01:45quickly achieve a nuclear weapon that is the core goal of the president united states yes this is what
01:50president of the united states said no you nuclear weapon for iran no and that's what we've tried to
01:56achieve through these negotiations again their nuclear programs such as it is the enrichment facilities
02:03that they've that they had before they've been destroyed but the simple question is do we see
02:09a fundamental commitment of will do we the iranians not to develop a nuclear weapon not just now not
02:15just two years from now but for the long term we haven't seen that yet we hope that we will
02:19it is what it is okay next question we are gaming with
02:27we talked about all those issues jen and uh we talked about a number of issues beyond that and so
02:36certainly those things came up but again we we just could not get to a situation where the iranians
02:42were willing to accept our terms i i think that we were quite flexible we were quite accommodating the
02:47president told us you need to come here in good faith good faith yes this is what it is
02:52came in good faith and tried to do so but they are not able to leave the nuclear weapon program

03:01make your best effort to get a deal we did that and unfortunately we weren't able to make um
03:07make any headway preston this president how often did you communicate with president trump
03:12throughout the negotiations there were reports that there were multiple rounds yes yes always
03:17constantly in with the talks with the president right near there
03:22where there were breaks in between negotiations yes yes how often did you communicate with the
03:26president throughout those rounds continuously so many times urgent times a dozen times
03:32yeah obviously we were talking to the president consistently um i don't know how many times we
03:37talked to him a half dozen times a dozen times over the past 21 hours we obviously also talked to
03:41admiral cooper to pete to marco to the entire national security team we talked to scott
03:46us in a number of times so look we were constantly in communication with the team because we were
03:51negotiating in good faith and uh we leave here and we leave here with a very simple proposal
03:58okay okay leaving pakistan with a simple proposal what that proposal can be what that can be
04:05understanding that is our final and best offer we'll see if the iranians okay thank you thank you for
