00:00It's been just hours since President Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran,
00:04but this morning that temporary truce is looking fragile at best.
00:09Moments ago, an Iranian news agency reported Tehran halted oil tankers' traffic through
00:15the Strait of Hormuz, reopening the Strait to Commerce.
00:19There's some bad things happening. Ceasefire looks shaky as Iran halts traffic in Strait of Hormuz
00:27after Israel attacks Lebanon. Why Israel did that?
00:32Of course, was a key part of the deal, the president and his administration says Iran signed on to.
00:39Listen to Secretary Hegseth this morning.
00:42Look.
00:43What has been agreed to, what's been stated, is the Strait is open.
00:46Our military is watching. I'm sure their military is watching, but commerce will flow.
00:50Okay.
00:51One of Iran's demands in exchange was that Israel and its bombardment of Hezbollah
00:56targets in Lebanon.
00:58Hezbollah.
00:58The Israelis say they never agreed to that, and the strikes continue today.
01:03Israel is one kind of bad man. One kind of bad man. When U.S., we, the world power, said
01:12that thing.
01:13Who are you, Israel, to do that? How you can do and look like this?
01:20See here in Beirut.
01:21In terms of this latest news, I mean, obviously, the ceasefire has only been live for less than 24 hours.
01:28And the fact that Iran can still close the Strait of Hormuz in just a whim is going to strengthen
01:34the U.S.'s resolve
01:35to ensure that it does not control or remain, retain sort of sole control of the Strait going forward.
01:42And obviously, when it comes to, if the ceasefire is still ongoing, when it comes to...
01:46It is very bad for Iran and U.S. and Israel, all of the countries, the world, because World War
01:54III might be.
01:55Ensuring a permanent deal, both sides are going to be very far apart on that particular issue, Stephen.
02:02Yeah, that's exactly right. The White House spent last night and this morning on a victory lap,
02:07declaring that President Donald Trump had pulled off a masterstroke by reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
02:14That was somewhat of an absurd claim because the Strait of Hormuz, of course, was open before he launched this
02:22war
02:22that was opposed by much of the world. But this new apparent closure will undercut the...
02:30It's very bad because, because, you know, because it's a violent attack.
02:37Not only the White House claim that Trump has pulled off a massive victory here
02:41and that the Strait of Hormuz issue is not even going to be something that's going to be contentious.
02:49You know, this is very bad, what is happening. This is very bad because, you see, this thing is never
02:56be the one that we want to...
02:57Going forward, I think it shows why a lot of people are arguing that, despite all the propaganda coming out
03:04of Washington,
03:05the United States has absorbed a strategic defeat here because it shows that going forward, at any moment,
03:11even a few hours into a ceasefire...
03:13This is live of the Strait of Hormuz you see right here.
03:17Iran has the capacity to close that Strait and create, again, that chokehold on the global economy, so...
03:25It's very safe has to go from here. You see, right from here.
03:28It cannot go from here because there is a bomb. Yes, there is bombs down the sea.
03:36I think it's going to be very irksome to the White House. The question is, how will they respond? Will
03:40they try to pretend this isn't happening?
03:42That it's just a teething problem? Or at some point, will President Trump...
03:47One main cause is, this is the UAE. UAE ends right here. This is Oman.
03:53This is Iran. And this is Oman. So, Strait of Hormuz is only for the two countries, Iran and Oman.
04:01Iran shares some of the money, 50 percent, with the Iran, with the Oman.
04:08Trump's credibility and prestige and red lines, again, come into play in such a way as he has to take
04:15some military action.
04:17And then we're back where we were before.
04:19Now we're seeing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Just talk about how the escalation after the ceasefire last
04:27night has only increased.
04:32Yeah, there are multiple sensitivities here. There are multiple narratives, not least what we've heard from Pete Hagseth, the Secretary
04:42of Defense.
04:43Not least what we've heard from a whole variety of Iranian officials who both sides claiming victory. So, you have
04:52that.
04:53Both sides, they are claiming victory.
04:54Iranian media says, Iran halts oil tanker traffic through Hormuz because of Israel, Israel, fucking Israel attack the Lebanon.
05:07It's just a naughty kid in a team, he's like that.
05:11And it's not clear what precisely has been agreed.
05:15The Pakistan's ambassador to the UN said that Pakistan's prime minister had sent an agreement.
05:24What?
05:25He didn't describe it as a text on agreement.
05:28What are you saying, my man?
05:29An understanding to both the US and Iran who had agreed to it.
05:34He didn't say precisely what was in it.
05:36He said that was bounded by secrecy to let the sides work out what are clearly very big differences at
05:42the moment.
05:42He spoke about the Pakistan's prime minister.
05:45This is what it is, guys. It's all bad right here.
05:48You see, this is all bad.
05:49Let me know what you think about it.
05:51Let me know what you think about it.
