00:00Alexi Kisa comes from Kenya, has won numerous races on the Trinidad and Tobago landscape and never seems to get tired.
00:07So what's his motivation?
00:09Well, he has often said he is inspired by the support he has gotten in TNT by athletes who run because of the example that he has set.
00:16I think being here as a person, as a runner, as an elite runner from probably Kenya, has really helped to raise the caliber of the running community and the athletes here.
00:30For sure, I would say that. I don't know if most people realize that, but I think since I started coming to Trinidad, I've seen great development and improvement in the running community.
00:42Despite winning so many races, he admitted to getting a special feeling winning the UB Spec Half Marathon.
00:48It was very interesting to come out there and still perform at that level at my age. I'm still performing and pushing my limits.
00:57It was so great to come out there and I give respect to the race organizers for putting up such kind of event of a highest level.
01:06His need for speed does not end in the half marathon, especially with a sub-14 minute 5k PB.
01:12My personal base is 13 minutes and 57 seconds. I think I did run that in my early 30s. So, yeah, I think I still have more gas in me to push.
01:27If probably I can just focus in shorter distances and not long distances. I think I can run low at 14 minutes or something around 13 highs. I still can. I think I still can at my age.
01:43Is it a target at all for you?
01:45Not really, but probably most people have been pushing me like, yeah, Alex, you do something here in Trinidad, leave a mark here and I don't know, probably I might look into it and maybe just try to bring down my mileage and just focus on speed and give it a try and see how it works.
