00:00Iranians flooded the streets on April 8th, 2026, to celebrate after a two-week ceasefire
00:07in the war with Israel and USA.
00:09Meanwhile, in the Lebanese capital of Beirut at the same time, Israeli forces carried out
00:15a wave of deadly strikes, killing at least 254 people.
00:21Smoke was seen rising from several locations in southern and central Beirut, including
00:27close to the international airport.
00:30In response, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said there had been a misunderstanding in
00:36Tehran and that the agreed U.S.-Iran ceasefire had not included Lebanon.
00:41I actually think, and there's a lot of bad faith negotiation and a lot of bad faith, you
00:47know, propaganda going on, I think this comes from a legitimate misunderstanding.
00:51I think the Iranians thought that the ceasefire included Lebanon, and it just didn't.
00:56We never made that promise.
00:58We never indicated that was going to be the case.
01:00What we said is that the ceasefire would be focused on Iran and the ceasefire would be
01:04focused on America's allies, both Israel and the Gulf Arab states.
01:09That position contradicts comments by Pakistani Prime Minister Shabazz Sharif, a key intermediary
01:16in the U.S.-Iran ceasefire talks, who had said the truce would include Lebanon.
01:21The ceasefire with Iran also came on the back of the U.S. president, threatening to eliminate
01:27a civilization, a threat that the press secretary later clarified was very strong and not at all
01:35empty.
01:35What was your understanding of what he meant when he said, this civilization is going to
01:41be eliminated?
01:42I think it was a very, very strong threat from the president of the United States that led
01:47the Iranian regime to cave to their knees and ask for a ceasefire and agree to reopening
01:52the Strait of Hormuz.
01:53So it was a very strong threat that led to results.
01:56And as the secretary of war stated at the Pentagon this morning, it was not an empty threat by
02:02any means.
02:02The Pentagon had a target list that they were ready to hit go on at 8 p.m. last night
02:08if
02:09the Iranian regime had not agreed to open the strait, which they did.
02:12And I think that's something we should all be grateful for.
