00:00Zach Jackson from The Athletic, he wrote in an article over the weekend,
00:04it's clear the Browns' best and likely preferred option in the draft is to trade down from either 6 and
00:08or 24
00:09in hopes of adding at least one additional second-day pick in either 2026 or 2027.
00:14It's unable, Cleveland would likely be able to deal, which it would acquire an extra 2027 first-rounder.
00:20He said if they can't find a trade partner, Zach is saying that they're going to take Carnell Tate.
00:24Are you happy with Carnell Tate before we go on to this audio here?
00:26Yeah, I kind of, just because I wanted an offensive lineman so desperately,
00:31and then it kind of became obvious that it was going to be a force.
00:36So, which is tough because you don't know who's going to be available by the time you get to that
00:40second,
00:41first-round pick, and you certainly don't want to go empty-handed,
00:43and you don't want to get like the eighth-best offensive lineman in this draft or anything like that.
00:47But I think you'd be okay with Tate.
00:50I don't think he's a total elite game-changer, wide receiver.
00:54You know, if this were most drafts, I don't think he would ever be considered top 10 or anything like
00:59that.
00:59But in this draft, I think you'd walk away pretty excited.
01:04I would think that you're not going to get hammered for taking Carnell Tate.
01:08There might be some people who are haters out there because there's always going to be contrarians,
01:12but I think everybody would go, okay, Carnell Tate,
01:15like when we go ripping on picks later on in life, it's like I remember the fights of Tristan Wirfs
01:22when they took Jed Wills.
01:24Like I do remember that.
01:26I can't see.
01:27It would be revisionist history to me if they were to take Carnell Tate,
01:30and then five years later, well, you could have had some.
01:33No, no, no, no, no.
01:34I think a lot of people are just fine.
01:37We'll take Carnell Tate.
01:38We'll take ourselves a good wide receiver.
01:42He's a player that can really help this football team, obviously.
01:45He's a day-one starter.
01:46He walks out there in the field from the first session that they have
01:50as a number-one wide receiver, and then they move on.
01:53Like you can make all you want to about Tee Higgins.
01:54I've got to go by the draft I have.
01:56And so this is the draft I have.
01:57Carnell Tate seems to be a pretty decent move,
02:00and it's obviously you could make an argument for best player available,
02:04even though you could say, well, Jeremiah, I love, but it also meets need.
02:06It also means something that you need something terribly.
02:09I think, though, that there's another part to this.
02:11Whoever Carnell Tate ends up having thrown to him,
02:14because I think eventually the tide is going to turn.
02:17You know, they have workouts starting on Tuesday, tomorrow,
02:21and I think that's when this really begins, this quarterback conversation.
02:26We've had all the hearsay and all the other stuff here.
02:29I think that that's when this really begins,
02:31because you hear Jimmy Haslam speak about it.
02:33Let's hear Jimmy on ā this is Cleveland Browns weekend.
02:35This aired over the weekend right here on the fan.
02:37And here's the owner of the Browns on, Deshaun Watson.
02:40It's not for lack of effort, okay?
02:42I mean, I don't think anybody in our organization would question his effort,
02:46his toughness, everything he's put in the job.
02:49The reality is he's had major injuries, right?
02:52He broke his shoulder, tore his Achilles tendon twice.
02:56So he's been really ravaged by injuries,
02:59and that, along with the 11-game suspension, have kept him from playing.
03:03Now, Deshaun has a great chance, fresh start, offensive-minded coach,
03:07who has, in his past, been able to work with all kinds of different quarterbacks
03:12and make them successful.
03:14So Deshaun has a great chance to do that now.
03:16We talked to him the other day.
03:18He said he weighed the least he had in several years, was in great shape.
03:21He'll be here on April 7th when we start, and let's see what Deshaun can do.
03:26We're all excited.
03:27Now, here's Nathan Zagura on Cleveland Browns weekend
03:31explaining some conversations that were had, apparently,
03:34during the league meetings last week involving Jimmy Haslam,
03:39explaining a few things.
03:40Nathan appears on Fridays leading up to the draft and during the season.
03:43Here's Nathan Zagura on what Jimmy may or may not have said about Deshaun Watson.
03:48Listen closely.
03:48It is being made out as though Jimmy Haslam said he was a swing and a miss,
03:54but we think he can be a home run.
03:56He never said those words.
03:58Home run never came out of his mouth.
03:59He never said anything.
04:00So he's getting, and people on social media are running with that,
04:04and it's because Mary Kay's title says,
04:06can Deshaun Watson go from a swing and a miss to a home run,
04:08and she basically uses a baseball analogy throughout the article,
04:11Jimmy Haslam never said that he's going to go from a swing and miss to a home run.
04:15He said he's got a great chance and a fresh start with Todd Munkin.
04:18I said there's a lot of quarterbacks who it seems to be the theme in the NFL
04:20who either started, did not start well, and take the Super Bowl route.
04:23And what a great story that is for Sam Darnold.
04:25Deshaun started great in the year before we signed him.
04:27He was the second-best quarterback in the NFL.
04:28Suspension, injuries all piled up.
04:30Can he come back from that?
04:31He certainly has the ability at one point, and we're cautiously optimistic.
04:34But he never used that it's going to go from a swing and miss to a home run.
04:37There has been a lot of hysteria here over the last few weeks,
04:40and I've been hysterical myself.
04:42I think what they're trying to do is that there is a runway here
04:45for as open a competition as they can make.
04:48Now, I still think that the franchise, the owner, I think that the front office,
04:53the business people, I think that they would still like Shador Sanders
04:55to be the starting quarterback going into this year.
04:58However, I think that there's also the opening up of a possibility
05:02of Deshaun Watson starting the season there.
05:04And as crazy as it's been, I do think that a Browns fan will look at him
05:09and start to open their mind as this offseason goes on
05:13if Deshaun Watson ends up being the starting quarterback,
05:16that they might, okay, there's no Kevin, maybe we can kick the tires one more time
05:21and see if we can squeeze anything out of him.
05:22I think a lot of Browns fans want something to look forward to.
05:25Isn't it funny that we have to put terminology under the microscope?
05:29That's how much people don't want Deshaun Watson to play.
05:33By the way, I realize every time ā
05:33I think that's true right now.
05:35Now, I will say every time me and you have said nobody wants to see Deshaun Watson,
05:38I do see the chatter pick up.
05:41Like, you haven't talked to me.
05:42You know, there are fans.
05:44Yeah.
05:45I think they are a very, very segmented few compared to the rest of the fan base
05:51because I think mentally most Browns fans have moved on.
05:55I mean, even me.
05:56I mean, I'm somebody who wanted Deshaun Watson in a big way,
05:59and I've mentally moved on.
06:01You know, the Browns tearing the signage down of Deshaun Watson from the stadium
06:05and acting like he never existed to begin with.
06:07Well, I think they wanted us to move on.
06:09And the start of the scrubbing of his, you know, entire tenure here.
06:13Let's be honest.
06:13If they had big plans after the injury that happened against the Bengals a couple years ago,
06:19signage doesn't come off the stadium.
06:21Signage doesn't come off the building.
06:23The names aren't removed from social media.
06:26There isn't all that stuff.
06:27I think that they're in a position they would rather not be in.
06:30I think that they wish that they had somebody that they could put in there
06:33and that he's a backup and he's only there because of the contract purposes and that's it.
06:37But they're not.
06:38And so now they have to be open-minded.
06:40I don't think it's a money issue.
06:41Some people have brought up, well, they're paying him too much.
06:43This team's paid $16 million for a second-round pick before.
06:46They've proven time and time again they do not care about the money issue of it.
06:50If you're good enough, they'll play you.
06:52It doesn't matter to you.
06:53I do think it's you have a new head coach.
06:56You're going to have to keep an open mind.
06:58And I think that they're trying to get everybody to open their minds up just a little bit.
07:02They understand that his name is not very popular around here.
07:05But I think that they're trying to open it up going, hey, we got to try to do something here.
07:10With Todd Munkin, we got to try to do something in terms of winning.
07:13That's what I think they're trying to do when they open all this up.
07:16And I do think that over time, it might not be today, but I do think that here over this
07:25short period to come,
07:27that some people might go, well, you know, maybe there is something there.
07:33Because they want something to look forward to.
07:35Even myself, if he ended up taking over the job, if they were like, okay, he's a clear-cut number
07:39one.
07:40All right, let's see.
07:41Let's see if we don't need another guy.
07:43Probably do.
07:44Probably will.
07:45But let's just see one more time.
07:47I do think a lot of people will open up their minds.
07:49Coming up at 8.20 this morning, the dangerous one, Daryl Ryder.
07:51I want to ask if he's open-minded towards this and what Andre Schmidt taught me
07:57about what I need to know about the Cleveland Guardians in 2026.
08:01Ken Carman, Anthony Lima, take us with you to work on the free Odyssey app.
