00:01When you have been cheated and mistreated, the deepest pain is not always what happened.
00:10Sometimes, the deepest pain is the question it leaves behind.
00:15When will I be loved?
00:18That question does not come from a weak person.
00:22It comes from a wounded one.
00:25It comes from somebody who gave something real and watched the wrong hands, treated carelessly.
00:33It comes from the person who kept hoping, kept trusting, kept showing up with a sincere heart,
00:42and stood there in disbelief when what came back was betrayal, neglect, dishonesty, or rejection.
00:52And some of you know exactly what that feels like.
00:56You know what it is to sit in silence and replay the moment it all changed.
01:03You know what it is to remember the words they said, the promises they made,
01:10the look in their eyes when they told you something they never intended to keep.
01:14You know what it is to carry yourself through the day while something in you is hurting.
01:21Hurting so deeply that you can barely explain it.
01:26There are wounds that do not show on the outside, but they still change the way a person walks through
01:33life.
01:35Betrayal does that.
01:38Mistreatment does that.
01:40Mistreatment.
01:41And it makes you question people.
01:43It makes you question yourself.
01:46And if you're not careful, it can even make you question whether love is ever really coming.
01:54But I need to say this to you with as much clarity as I can.
02:02What happened to you was real, but it's not who you are.
02:08What they did was wrong, but it is not a measurement of your worth.
02:14The way someone handled your heart reveals their character.
02:19It does not define your value.
02:23Broken people often mishandle precious things.
02:27And that is tragic, but it's not proof that you were hard to love.
02:33It's proof that they did not know how to honor what God had placed in their hands.
02:39And that matters because pain has a voice.
02:44And after you've been cheated and mistreated, pain starts talking.
02:49It starts whispering lies that feel true because they were born inside a real wound.
02:55It tells you maybe you are too much.
02:58Maybe you're not enough.
03:00Maybe love is for other people.
03:04Maybe you will always be the one who gives more than you get back.
03:09Maybe you are destined to be disappointed.
03:14But pain?
03:15Well, pain is a witness.
03:17It is not a profit.
03:20Pain can tell you what happened, but it does not get to decide what your future will be.
03:27I know there are people listening to me right now who have become experts at functioning while wounded.
03:35You smile while wounded.
03:37You work while wounded.
03:40You serve while wounded.
03:44You answer the phone while wounded.
03:47You go to church while wounded.
03:50And you tell people you are fine because you are too tired to explain the war that has been going
03:57on inside of you.
03:59And maybe what hurts the most is not just the betrayal itself.
04:04Maybe what hurts the most is that you were sincere.
04:09You were genuine.
04:12You were loyal and you meant what you said.
04:16You brought a real heart into a world full of people who knew how to play games.
04:22Now, that kind of pain can harden a person.
04:26It can make you colder than you ever wanted to become.
04:29It can make you suspicious of everybody.
04:32And it can make you protect yourself so fiercely that you no longer know how to receive tenderness when it
04:41finally comes.
04:43That is one of the greatest dangers of heartbreak.
04:47It does not just hurt you.
04:49It tries to reshape you.
04:51It tries to turn you into someone who expects less, trusts less, hopes less, and settles for less.
05:03But God, well, God did not create you to live with a closed heart and a calling that would not
05:12heal.
05:12The truth is, before anyone has ever failed you, you were already loved.
05:21Before anyone lied to you, used you, neglected you, or walked away from you, you were already known and loved
05:31by God.
05:32Your worth did not begin in human hands, and it will not end there.
05:38The first truth about your life is not rejection.
05:43You see, the first truth about your life is that God formed you on purpose, sees you completely, and loves
05:51you without confusion.
05:53Human beings may have mishandled your heart, but heaven never has.
06:00Sometimes we ask, when will I be loved?
06:05While standing inside a love that we have not fully received yet.
06:11You see, God's love is not just a religious sentence people say when your heart is breaking.
06:19It's the deepest reality in your entire life.
06:24It is the love that does not shift when your circumstances shift.
06:29It's the love that does not flatter you one day and wound you the next.
06:35It's the love that saw every flaw, every scar, every fear, every failure, and still chose the cross.
06:46Jesus did not go to the cross because you were easy to love.
06:51He went because his love is deeper than your pain and stronger than your worst moment.
07:00And friends, Jesus understands rejection.
07:05He understands betrayal.
07:07He understands what it is to love and still be wounded by the very people around him.
07:14He was denied.
07:16He was abandoned.
07:18He was mocked.
07:19He was rejected.
07:21That means when you bring him your pain, you are not bringing it to someone who is distant from suffering.
07:29You're bringing it to a savior who knows what it means to be hurt and still remain full of truth,
07:37mercy, and love.
07:38Your heartbreak does not push him away.
07:42He steps toward it.
07:46And sometimes, as hard as this may be to hear, what feels like delay is actually protection.
07:55Sometimes, you are grieving what did not stay, while God is protecting you from what would have broken you further
08:03if it had.
08:05Sometimes, you are calling something love because you are lonely, while God is calling it danger because he sees what
08:15you cannot.
08:16And sometimes, the reason the answer has come the way it has is because God refuses to let your hunger
08:26for love drag you back into the hands of what wounded you in the first place.
08:33Because pain can make people settle.
08:38You know, it can make them call attention, love.
08:41It can make them call chemistry, peace.
08:45It can make them call chaos, passion.
08:49It can make them accept crumbs because they are starving for affection.
08:55But real love, real love does not have to deceive you to keep you.
09:04Real love does not leave you constantly confused.
09:09Real love does not require you to betray your dignity in order to hold on to it.
09:15What comes from God may challenge you, but it will not corrupt you.
09:22It will not destroy your peace.
09:25And it will not demand that you become less than he created you to be.
09:33So, what do you do with a wounded heart?
09:36Well, first, you tell God the truth.
09:40Not the polished version.
09:42The truth.
09:44You tell him it hurt.
09:46You tell him it changed you.
09:49You tell him you are tired.
09:53You tell him you are angry.
09:56You tell him you are disappointed.
09:59You tell him you do not want another speech.
10:02You do not want, you just want healing.
10:06God can work with honesty.
10:09The beginning of healing is not pretending you are fine.
10:13It's bringing the whole wound into the light.
10:18Then, you let God separate your identity from your injury.
10:24You are not the betrayal.
10:27You are not the abandonment.
10:30You are not the rejection.
10:33You are not the person who was not enough.
10:37That is not your name.
10:40You are a child of God.
10:44You are seen by God.
10:46You are held by God.
10:48You are loved by God.
10:53And when God says you are loved, that truth stands even on the days when your emotions are too tired
11:01to feel it.
11:03I believe God can heal the place in you that still flinches when love gets close.
11:11I believe he can restore peace where confusion has lived for too long.
11:17And I believe he can teach your heart the difference between what feels intense and what is actually safe.
11:27I believe he can rebuild your life in such a way that your past no longer gets to prophecy over
11:34your future.
11:36So, if your heart has been crying, when will I be loved?
11:42Hear this clearly.
11:45You are loved right now.
11:48Right now.
11:49Right now.
11:50In this ache.
11:52In this unfinished chapter.
11:55In this season that makes no sense at all.
11:59You are loved by a God who did not leave when people did.
12:04You are loved by a Savior who sees every hidden tear and wastes none of them.
12:11You are loved by the One who knows exactly what was taken from you.
12:16And still has the power to restore what pain tried to destroy.
12:25Do not let betrayal name you.
12:29Do not let mistreatment define you.
12:32Do not let delay convince you that love forgot your address.
12:38Lift your head.
12:40Guard your heart, but do not bury it.
12:43The wrong people may have wounded you, but they do not get the final word over your life.
12:51God does.
12:56You've been cheated.
12:58You've been mistreated.
13:00But you have not been abandoned.
13:04You've been wounded, but you are not worthless.
13:10You have cried, but you are not forgotten.
13:14You have waited, but you, you are not denied.
13:20God is still with you.
13:23God is still healing you.
13:26God is still writing your story.
13:29And one day, you are going to look back and realize that even in the waiting.
13:35Even in this heartbreak.
13:38Even in the silence.
13:39Love had not missed you at all.
13:44God was loving you the whole time.
13:51My name is Douglas Vandergraaf and I believe in Jesus Christ.
13:56God bless every single one of you.
14:02Every single one.
14:05God bless you.
14:08God bless you.
14:08God bless you.
14:09God bless you.
14:11God bless you.
14:11God bless you.
