00:00Council-run museums in Leeds are celebrating after new figures reveal they welcomed more than a million visitors through their

00:09The eight Leeds Museums and Gallery sites saw a total of 1,046,372 people flock to exhibitions, displays and
00:19events.
00:20That's according to new stats released by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions.
00:25The figures cover January to December 2025 and represent a 16% rise in visitor numbers compared to the previous
00:34year.
00:35Leeds Museums and Galleries operates eight sites in total.
00:39Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds City Museum, Temple Newsome House, Lotherton Hall, Abbey House Museum, Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds Industrial Museum and
00:50the Leeds Discovery Centre.
00:51Among the sites enjoying the biggest increases was Leeds City Museum, which saw visitors surge by 25%, thanks in part
01:01to the massive success of their Miffy exhibition, which welcomed 127,000 people.
01:07Elsewhere, Kirkstall's Abbey House Museum enjoyed a 44% increase in visitors following a passionate public consultation over the site's
