New details have been revealed about the part that Leeds communities will play in one of 2027’s most eagerly awaited sporting events - the Grand Départ of the Tour de France Femmes.

00:00On the 30th of July 2027, all eyes will be on the head row in Leeds City Centre,
00:07as it's been confirmed as the starting point for the Grand Depart of the Tour de France Femmes.
00:12The city was confirmed in January as the host location for the start of Stage 1 of the world's biggest
00:17women's professional cycle race.
00:20From the head row, riders will undertake a partial loop of the city centre before heading to Headingley.
00:26After passing the stadium, they'll travel down to Kirkstall and then towards Bramley.
00:31From there, they'll go south via Gamble Hill and Farnley, before heading west to Driglington,
00:37and ultimately crossing into Kirklees and over the Pennines to Manchester.
00:43Full details of the roads involved, along with information on temporary closures and traffic restrictions, will be announced soon,
00:50with a wide-reaching programme of engagement with local residents and businesses set to get underway this summer.
