00:35Mass protests against President Donald Trump's administration and his policies are on the way across the United States Saturday,
00:41under the slogan No Kings.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernandez from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:55We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:14The Israeli army continues its target attacks against journalists in the region,
01:18killing three journalists in Lebanon that were traveling in a vehicle, clearly marked as press.
01:23The strike kill al-Mayadeen's correspondent to South Lebanon Fatima Ftini, her brother and colleague Mohamed,
01:31and Al-Manar TV communicator Alish Waib.
01:34Fatima had been in the field covering the Israeli invasion in Lebanon when,
01:38according to al-Mayadeen's correspondent Hamal Gurabi, the Zionist forces targeted the vehicle with four precision missiles.
01:45Paramedics were then targeted after arriving on the scene in ambulances, leading to the murder of one of the paramedics.
01:51This reflects the Zionist policy of aggression against press members and first responders, including a violation of international law.
02:05Fatima Ftini, a big heart, a fighter who stood up for her land.
02:10We are all like her. We are all resistance fighters.
02:14This is our land, and we will not abandon it. Today, she died in Jacina, and she taught the children
02:23of Jacina the meaning of the word dignity.
02:26Some people do not know the importance of our land and the meaning of dignity. Our land is our dignity.
02:37Civilians, journalists, they are not sparing anymore. They are documenting the attacks and filming the defeat and losses of Israeli
02:45occupying army at the hands of the resistance.
02:48That is the reality of Israel.
02:53And the World Health Organization director general, Tedros Edamon Ghebreyesus, condemned the killing of nine paramedics in southern Lebanon during
03:01attacks on healthcare centers.
03:03Ghebreyesus' statements did not specify the perpetrator, but Israel has been conducted daily airstrikes and the Zionist troops have pushed
03:10forward into the area in recent days.
03:13In a post on his social media platform X, the WHO chief stated,
03:17More tragedy in southern Lebanon to date, with nine paramedics killed in five attacks on healthcare, taking the number of
03:25health personnel killed this month to 51.
03:28Seven medics were also wounded in the strikes.
03:31Adding that, March has been the second most deadly month for health workers in Lebanon.
03:36More than 120 health workers have also been reportedly wounded since the escalation began in Lebanon on March 2, overwhelmingly
03:44in the country's south.
03:46Ghebreyesus finalized by stating that,
03:48Health workers are protected under international humanitarian law and should never be targeted.
03:53The only way to end these tragedies is to end the attacks on healthcare.
04:05Meanwhile, Iran announced Saturday the U.S.-Israeli attack on the University of Science and Technology in Tehran.
04:12According to the University's Public Relations Department, the bombing caused damage to the facilities of the educational institution and sparked
04:19panic among residents in nearby areas,
04:22including residential and commercial zones, as well as among patients at the hospital adjacent to the university.
04:29The health institution condemned the aggression and described it as a violation of human rights and the international laws.
04:35No fatal victims have been officially reported so far.
04:42And at least five people were killed and more than 30 wounded in Iran after Israeli and U.S. forces
04:49attacked the Syrian Boruyed in the nation's Lorestan province.
04:53According to local authorities, several homes were hit early Saturday morning, causing structural damage and leaving several people trapped in
05:01the rubble.
05:02Rescue teams are working on the scene, searching for possible survivals, while efforts to treat the injured continue.
05:09Authorities warned that the number of fatal victims could rise in the incoming hours, as rescue efforts continue in the
05:14most affected areas.
05:19And the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran, IRGC, launched the 85th wave of Operation True Promise 4, in retaliation
05:27for the unprovoked joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on the Persian nation.
05:30In a statement released on Saturday, the IRGC reported that the launch resulted in the downing of a U.S.
05:37MQ-9 strategic drone over Shiras, also hitting an F-16 fighter jet.
05:44The Guard's Navy and Aerospace Force personnel carried out successive variations of missile and drone attacks, also targeting several Israeli
05:52heavy industries facilities.
05:53In addition, the operation reportedly thwarted an attempt by the Israeli-U.S. Air Force to attack the base from
06:00which the missile barrage was launched.
06:02The military action is another instance of the Iranian defense against the ongoing Chinese-U.S. aggression.
06:12A Yemen's militant group, Ansar Allah, also known as Houthis, claimed responsibility for a missile attack against Israel on Saturday.
06:20Houthis military spokesman Brigadier General Haya Sari announced that the Zionist aggression against Lebanon, Iran and Palestine, which has escalated
06:31exponentially in recent days, influenced this decision.
06:35Sari also informed that the military response occurred simultaneously and in coordination with the Lebanese resistance and Iranian military forces.
06:42The Houthis representatives also affirmed that the military actions will continue until the Israeli aggressions against all fronts of the
06:49resistance cease.
06:55For its part, Russia has sent a new shipment of humanitarian aid to Iran, including 313 tons of medical supplies
07:02amid the aggression by the United States and Israel against the Persian country.
07:06The announcement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to his Iranian counterpart Abbas Arakshi.
07:12The shipment adds to the 13 tons of need that Russia had sent by air to the Persian nation.
07:17The operation, which was supervised by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, deported on trucks from the Republic of Dagestan and
07:24is part of Russia's express support to Iran since the U.S.-Israeli aggressions began.
07:29Russia's representative to the United Nations, Basil Nevencia denounced the escalation as a true betrayal to diplomacy and emphasized his
07:38government's commitment to continue supporting the Persian nation.
07:47In South Korea, hundreds of protesters took to the streets to demonstrate against the possible deployment of the country's military
07:54forces in the Strait of Hormuz.
07:56Activists marched through the streets of Seoul, carrying signs and chanting slogans urging the government to work towards peace in
08:03the region.
08:04They also called for an end to the alliance between South Korea and the United States, due to what they
08:09call the war-mongering and hegemonic policies against the free peoples.
08:13On the world, at the same time, the protesters denounced the same aggression against Palestine, Lebanon and Iran, where dozens
08:20of children, women and civilians in general continue to be killed.
08:30And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesuit
08:34English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates and more.
08:38We'll be right back. Stay with us.

09:18the No Kim group, that is expected to bring together over 9 billion people in more than 3,000 rallies

09:39Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators are rallying in cities like Boston, New York, Washington, Atlanta, Chicago and Portland, while organizers
09:48have designated the rally at the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul as the national flagship event, in recognition of the
09:54number of the murder of two U.S. citizens by federal agents, marking the state as an epicenter of resistance.
10:07And so we're out here because we feel that the Constitution is under threat in a multitude of different ways.
10:15Things aren't normal. They aren't okay. And so we're out here helping keep people safe, make sure their voices get
10:21heard.
10:24Oh, yes. I think the next election is going to be crucial because what the GOP, which is complicit to
10:31Trump, trying to do, they're trying to take over election and Trump many, many times, even in his campaign, that
10:38if you vote for him that first time, you'll never have to vote again. So I'm just afraid of that.

10:51in Europe, Latin America and Eugenia.

12:02in the city.
12:19The Cuban government denounced the United States lies and contradicts its own statements regarding the energy blockade imposed on the
12:26island.
12:27Through a post on social media ex, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodillas declared assertions made by the U.S. government
12:33in Europe try to create confusion.
12:35They shamelessly lie and contradict their own statements, executive rules and acts when they deny the existence of a blockade
12:42on fuel supplies to Cuba.
12:44This office is to read the executive order of January 29th on photo regulations adopted by the Treasury Department to
12:51prove that a brutal blockade is being applied on oil supplies,
12:54as a way to expand and strengthen the collective punishment on all Cubans.
12:58Cubans thought diplomatically concluded by assuring that this blockade includes threats of sanctions to third countries, foreign companies and hostile
13:06actions against tankers.
13:08They lie.
13:15And the Cuban eastern province of Holguín received Friday solar kits for remote communities as part of what is known

13:50Local workers and residents highlighted the social impact and the initiative of contribution to energy inclusion in the province of
13:58Holguín.

17:34Welcome back to From the South.
17:35We continue in Argentina where President Javier Milley could be summoned as a suspect in the criminal investigations regarding the
17:42Libra cryptocurrency case.
17:44On Friday, one of the plaintiffs behind the investigation into the Libra cryptocurrency requested that the President be summoned and
17:51declared unfit for public office.
17:53According to the complainants, Milley allegedly intervened personally in matters related to the promotion of the cryptocurrency while in office.
18:00The complaint alleges that these actions may have favored private interests and that financial transfers related to these activities took
18:08place.
18:08The complainants assert that there was a preliminary planning phase, followed by the public promotion of the cryptocurrency and subsequently
18:15financial transactions under investigation.
18:18The court must now review the request and determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed with the subpoenas.
18:25In the meantime, the case remains in the investigative phase and no judicial ruling has been issued regarding the liability
18:31of the individual's name.
18:38And in a historic ruling in favor of Argentina, a US court has determined that the expropriation of Yacimientos Petroliferos
18:47Fiscales, YPF, was legal, exposing President Javier Milley after years of siding with vulture funds.
18:54The US justice system has ruled against the vulture funds, Porforo Capital and Edna Park.
19:00The country will now have to pay the $18 billion these firms were demanding.
19:05The New York court has been categorical in stating that the expropriation carried out by the government of Cristina Fernández
19:11de Kirchner was done in accordance with Argentine law and is legally valid.
19:16And that's why the country avoids one of the biggest financial blows in its history.
19:20A political paradox is impossible to ignore.
19:23President Milley has claimed victory in a national address after assuring that the process of denationalization of YPF, promoted by
19:32former President Fernández de Kirchner, was illegal.
19:40In other news, the Ecuadorian army launched a major military operation in the province of Carchi, near the Colombian border,
19:47to allegedly combat illegal gold mining activities.
19:50The operation, which involved the deployment of helicopters and armored vehicles, took place amid strong diplomatic tensions between Quito and
19:58Bogotá, days after Colombian president Gustavo Petro accused Ecuador of bombing drug traffickers in Colombian territory.
20:06Days before Ecuador's failed operation against an alleged drug traffickers camp, which turned out to be a dairy farm, alarmed
20:12the nation's organizations, which argued that the military response to structural problems is inadequate and dangerous.
20:24Meanwhile, in Venezuela, on Friday, Acting President Elce Rodríguez joined members of the evangelical community in prayer for Venezuela, also
20:32calling for prayers for President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Silvia Flores, who remained kidnapped by the United States government.
20:43May the life of Jesus be our guide in this difficult time that Venezuela is going through.
20:51A time for peace and spirituality.
20:53You know that we are in very difficult times.
21:01From here, I ask for a prayer for President Maduro and First Lady Silvia Flores.
21:05I, who am constant prayer for our country and our people, ask this.
21:14But I also ask that the program for democratic coexistence in peace and the amnesty law may encompass forgiveness among
21:21Venezuelans.
21:22That our hearts may be healed of hatred and intolerance.
21:28That we understand that the way forward is reconciliation among Venezuelans.
21:37And Venezuelans held the tradition of the Son of the Palm Bearers of Chacao, a celebration that takes place every
21:44year before the Palm Sunday during Eastern Week.
21:46The Palm Bearers bring the palm leaves from Guarayra Herpano down to Plaza La Castellana in Chacao, so that it
21:54can be blessed and given to parishioners.
21:56The event represents Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, where he was received with palm leaves by the crowds.
22:02This 200-year tradition has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
22:08The participants in the festivities highlighted the religious commitment and faith of the Venezuelan people during the day.
22:24And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
