00:18general elections results were announced. The Bolivian Central Workers' Union reaffirmed
00:29the continuation of protests on the 10th day of action against Decree 5503.
00:39The entire world celebrates the arrival of the new year 2026 with tradition, joy and astonishing
00:45fireworks displays.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernanda from the Telesur Studios in Havana,
00:58Cuba. We'll begin with the news. Stay with us!
01:12The Honduran Public Persecutor's Office announced legal action after the results of the November
01:1730th general elections were announced. Persecutor Joel Zelaya affirmed that the Public Persecutor's
01:23Office acted in accordance with the constitution and democratic order by not intervening or interrupting
01:28the electoral process. However, in the context of an election marked by allegations of irregularities,
01:34the authorities stated that the appropriate legal mechanism will be activated to clarify
01:39the truth about the events that occurred during the electoral process. Zelaya also reiterated that
01:45no act that violates the will or sovereignty of the people will go unpunished and that the
01:50investigations aimed to prevent these events from being repeated in the future.
02:00Moving on to Bolivia, the Central Workers' Union reaffirmed the continuation of protests on the 10th day
02:06of action in rejection of Decree 5503, which eliminates the fuel subsidies. The organization states that the
02:14indefinite strike and marches have spread to different cities in the plurinational state,
02:19demanding the repeal of the supreme decree promoted by the government of Raldigo Paz. The
02:24trade union group declares that it will maintain the broad participation of all members who support
02:30this rejection on the imposition of neoliberal measures. In this scenario, the workers also
02:36retaliate that it is unaware of the alleged invitation from the national government to participate in the dialogue.
02:41The government of Nicaragua celebrates the 67th anniversary of Fidel Castro's triumph entry into
02:55Havana, Cuba. This event marked a significant moment for revolutionaries in America and the Caribbean
03:00and around the world. In a statement, the Nicaraguan entity noted,
03:04In this year of the centenary of our commanded Fidel, the popular Sandinista revolution pays homage to him,
03:12to Raúl, to his heroic, dignified and victorious people. It concludes with,
03:17In all times and moments, Nicaraguan and Nicaraguans recognize with pride, art and part of the genius of
03:23Fidel, who left us amid all the challenges, the duty to continue building the future.
03:43In Colombia, the department of Valle del Cauca is under a severe weather alert, following reports of
03:49heavy rains in at least 13 municipalities. The rainy season has raised river laws and saturated the soil,
03:55triggering a series of incidents that require a coordinated response and active citizens' participation.
04:01Recent and persistent rainfall have tested the infrastructure and resilience of several
04:05localities of Valle del Cauca, while phenomena such as flash floods, urban and rural flooding,
04:11as well as small landslides, are the tangible manifestation of an increasingly unpredictable climate.
04:17In view of the situation, local authorities explain that the topography of the Valle del Cauca,
04:23with its mountain areas and flood valleys, contribute to the variability of the impacts.
04:32For its part, Chile is saying goodbye to 2025 with an intense heat wave marked by record
04:37temperatures in most of the central part of the country. This scenario coincides with an increased
04:42risk of forest fire spreading, which has led to repeated pleas from authorities to citizens to act
04:48responsibly after declaring a red alert. In this context, they urge the population to take extreme
04:53preemptive measures, considering the year-end holidays, a period that traditionally involves
04:59greater mobility, outdoor activities and the use of potentially dangerous items.
05:03And now we have a short break coming up. But first, remember you can join us on TikTok at

08:49without causing casualties or damage in the area.
08:52The offensive was described by the Russian military high command
08:55as a deliberate and carefully planned act by the Kiev regime.

09:37Vladimir Putin, which took place on the night of December 28-29 in the Novgorod region.
09:43And it concludes with,
09:44The following terrorist action that endangers the life of civilians,
09:47the security of nations and the balance of the international system,
09:51we affirm that the terrorism in any form or under any pretext cannot be tolerated or justified.
09:57For its part, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko condemned the recent Ukrainian drone attack
10:09and the president of Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region.
