00:00The TNT squad for the regional four-day tournament was announced on Thursday morning at the National Cricket Centre in
00:05Balmain.
00:06Trinidad and Tobago will be captained by Joshua De Silva, with Riyad Emreth being head coach for a second straight
00:11year.
00:12The 13-man squad is as follows.
00:14Joshua De Silva the captain, Cephas Cooper, Evan Lewis, Amir Jango, Jason Mohamed, Yannick Carrier, Terence Hines,
00:22Cary Peer, Jaden Seals, Anderson Phillip, Brian Charles, Jed Ghouli and Joshua James.
00:30Speaking at the media conference, Coach Emreth said it was quite a challenge when picking the squad with some having
00:36to miss out.
00:37It was a bit of a headache. I think it's a good headache to have when you have players on
00:41the bench who is just as good as the 13 selected.
00:44So we had discussions with the guys who have been left out.
00:48They understand, yes, they are hurt, which rightfully they should be.
00:51But, you know, the pool that we have now, I think we have a very good pool of about 20
00:57players that we can choose replacement at any point in time.
01:01So it is good competition for the guys who have been playing for the past few years.
01:06And, you know, even, you know, one like Theon Webster, who's been with the national team for quite a long
01:12time and he's not, you know, selected this year.
01:14But why left-handed batsman Evan Lewis?
01:16That question was raised since the 34-year-old last played first-class cricket in 2017.
01:23According to Emreth, the opener's selection was based on performances for marching Patriots in the TTCB two-day Premier One
01:30competition.
01:31He has been playing club cricket, red ball cricket, for the last few years and he has been doing well.
01:38So, I mean, it would have been unprofessional of us not to at least give him the opportunity to represent
01:44Ryan Tobago.
01:45We had discussions with him back and forth, back and forth, and he decided that he wants to give it
01:50another go.
01:51Based on the new format, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force will play three matches against Leeward Islands in Antigua.
01:57Such will also apply with defending champions Guyana Hoppy Eagles, who meet Wynwood Islands Volcanoes thrice in St. Vincent.
02:06And Jamaica Scorpions host Barbados Pride in Jamaica for three games.
02:10The three winners of the match-ups will progress further for a shot at the title.
02:15Vynwood, now I need you to export.
