Most parts of the Northeast will get less than an inch of rain from the approaching mid-October storms, but some places could experience severe storms with damaging winds.

00:00Saturday dry for most of us high pressure and control one exception here this evening we've seen some showers in western New York that could continue into tomorrow morning even getting into a little bit of central New York so something to keep in mind there that we can't rule that out but the bulk of the activity moving into the Great Lakes region it does cause some problems into parts of the Ohio Valley and Notre Dame for example you have a game 730 kickoff and you see a lot of lightning icons there we could see some lightning delays that's for sure so something to be prepared
00:29for as well as the rain and even some stronger wind gusts too Sunday this thing moves to the east we get into more of the Ohio Valley into the northeast but the timing for the northeast specifically it's late Sunday even more overnight into Monday especially trending towards the I-95 corridor and some of the areas closer to the coast one other thing to point out here not everybody sees thunderstorms for some of us it's just rainfall that does not mean you're not going to get the damaging wind gusts now the area
00:59we're most concerned about for severe weather which is mainly a damaging wind event it is mostly the areas that will get thunderstorms but just something to keep in mind I know that can be a little bit it can catch you by surprise if you don't have the thunder and the lightning you think oh it's just some rain no big deal but then it could feel like out of nowhere there's those gusty winds though that is something we're forecasting here one other note can't rule out a few isolated tornado warnings here again just something to keep in mind here future radar you can see the scattered showers I was talking about in New York State
01:29now for the Great Lakes region there's two main rounds of rain you're going to get there's number one we start to see the next one moving in widespread heavy rainfall by Sunday morning rain totals certainly a little higher into the Ohio Valley as far as the northeast overall we get into the evening we get into the overnight the storm moves in rain totals though mostly less than an inch
