00:21Hello everybody and welcome to the opening round of the 2026 EMX 125 European Championship
00:28presented by FMF Racing. We're live on MXGPTV.com. My name's Paul Malin and we will be with you every
00:35step of the way
00:36just as we were for all 12 rounds last year in 2025. A title chase that went right the way
00:41down
00:42to the final race of the season at Lommel in Belgium. The eventual champion Nico Alvesi just
00:49eclipsing Mano 4 by 11 points. Filippo Mantovani was third overall in the championship. All of those
00:56three riders are in EMX 250. That's coming up a little later on today. Their first race of the
01:01season. But as you can see this racetrack here in Almonte, a sand circuit for Spain. We're right in
01:07the southwest corner just close to the Portuguese border and yeah it's been pretty impressive so
01:14far despite two nights of persistent rain. Circuit conditions are improving and actually very very
01:23rideable. 25 minutes plus two laps the race is here today for the 125 and 250 riders. Fans are in
01:29the
01:29house without umbrellas and jackets now because the sun is out. It's starting to warm up and the circuit
01:36a bit of a firm base, an unpredictable base underneath. It's not deep sand by any means but there are
01:41some
01:41deep sections particularly when you get out of turn four or five the first monster jump and then down
01:46into turn six you see some of those gnarly braking bumps and coming up into the sweeper turn seven and
01:52that's a sec between sector one and two. So as you get over the finish line then through turn one
01:57down
01:57past pit lane turn two that short straight turn three that first jump is the city jump the end of
02:02sector one in turn four then we've got the monster jump then we go through turn five down into turn
02:06six
02:07loop back on ourselves that corner goes on forever to the jump there bottom of your screen that's the
02:12liquid molly jump and then a few corners after that turn 12 just before the monster energy step down
02:17that is the end of sector three and then we're sector four back towards the finish line area
02:21but in the practice sessions in the time practice session
02:27group b was quicker than group a ricardo bauer who won the final race of the season last year the
02:34final
02:34individual race last year he's riding the norman ktm factory rookies machine he was a 151 242
02:41fastest time in group a was genaro utech fantic factory racing emx 125 152 626 so it'll be
02:50ricardo bauer going to line first and then utech and then second fastest from the alternating group so
02:57moritz erneke slaney goya andreo gelini david krakow emil zimmer and lucas layock on the ktm
03:06and then in ninth and tenth positions we go to the riders who were fifth in their respective groups
03:11of course starting with ryan opliger and then bertram torius of denmark seth preem liam bruno geordi
03:19alba torre van mechelen ricardo peeney and drew stock good time for him had a timo huiver
03:25poker day and storm maiman with uh oliger reber and then the rest of the riders 40 riders 42 qualified
03:3341 and 42 they're going to be first reserves and uh obviously they were 21st in their respective
03:39groups but you see there's a slight slant down the start straight from our as we look down from the
03:45the first turn down towards that uh inside gate
03:51our machines doing their work down there just to tidy up the start straight it's kind of where
03:56a lot of the water collected after that overnight rain got uh bobcat there doing his thing but uh
04:01ricardo bauer there very fast in the free practice and the time practice and he'll be looking to uh
04:09do some damage here if he can ricardo bauer who was 17th last year in the championship missed a
04:15handful of rounds over the course of the season but at 8-1 in belgium the overall uh final round
04:21of the campaign got him his first podium in uh emx 125 and ricardo bauer 292
04:33a former european champion in the smaller divisions anyway 25 minutes plus two laps fly racing 15 second
04:40board up for the first time in 2026 who will it be that gets that all-important hole shot riders
04:45down
04:46there there's leok and emel zima there the 223
04:54see how heavy it is going to be those inside gates look like they're going to be crucial in terms

04:59perfect drive and they're all trying to get across there now look oh i tell you what a roost sandwich
05:04oh we've got riders cartwheeling midway down the straight
05:09get through that first turn charge down into turn two
05:16everybody's screaming through here this fast sweeping turn even quicker up there turn three
05:23and it's uh salvador perez and we've got carnage coming out of the turn there as well
05:36so absolute carnage going on there in fact it's uh yeah jorge salvador sorry who is leading the way
05:43moritz erneke second slaney goyer is in third eduardo reganti fourth storm maimond a great start for him
05:49and uh the 522 there of hoover so timo hoover of the netherlands but jorge salvador leading the way but
06:01for how much longer
06:03because out of nowhere erneke finds his way past
06:09wow
06:143.74 it was who went upside down oliger reba and then the sixth oh i'll tell you what
06:24what did he even undo his helmet there
06:29jordi alba r for me
06:39anyway a very eventful first lap
06:43but uh moritz erneke who leads the way he was the form rider in the italian pre-season international
06:50races was unbeaten in all the four races that he did the rider who finished what 22nd last year in
06:58the championship best overall round in germany 13th overall
07:03glad to see they've uh managed to clear the start straight and also coming out of that city jump
07:11everybody back in the race it seems but erneke already one and a half seconds clear or thereabouts
07:18and here he is coming towards us now on that 929 where is ricardo bauer your pole man
07:28he's in 15th place almost 11 seconds off the lead at the moment with a bit of work to do
07:35poker day is down
07:41a shame that for the uh hispaniard 367
07:47second in the european 85 championship last year fourth of the junior worlds
07:52in france but this is a great ride this at the moment for jorge salvador but he's under attack
07:59from eduardo reganti reganti goes by in exactly the same place as erneke did a lap ago but look
08:04slaney goya around the outside on the 350 also looking to move by reganti gets pushed back and all of
08:12a
08:12sudden slaney goya on the 350 he moves by on that yamaha europe monster energy mjc machine and quickly moves
08:29into second
08:30so slaney goya
08:35another whiskin 85 cc european champion from just a couple of years ago 2024
08:4318th last year in his first year in the campaign
08:47one of the favorites now that he's had that year under his belt
08:5528 here of storm maimont under pressure from the 32 of cream
09:04or is it no it's a 281 but i think he's a lap down oh yeah cracko
09:11just trying to be cute
09:15almost caught himself out these guys fighting over what fifth sixth place at the moment
09:20oh i think cracko just goes around the outside look gonna have the high line can't double two lines
09:25are going to come together but maimont somehow still manages to hang on on the number 28.
09:36just behind them is cream ah bars at the ready check your rib cage on the way out
09:44there is man there's set cream just in the background there the number 32 from belgium
09:49he's in seventh place then liam bruno then ryan opliger then the 522 of timo huiver
09:55but ricardo bauer still not making too many inroads in fact he's up to 11th now
10:01he's just down his way past toro van meckermann
10:07all kinds of battles going on here as you'd imagine in this ex-murderers class
10:13loving and wanting to tear strips off of each other every opportunity
10:19trying to put themselves in a shop window trying to pick up a ride for the next part of their
10:24journey
10:26a ride in the form of sponsorship of course
10:35double single down the back straight triple for the
10:38the one dingers in this emx 125 category erneke nearly five seconds clear at the head of the field
10:44at the moment put it in the fastest lap last time around 154 238
10:53but as we hit the line at the end of two laps erneke 4.7 seconds clear selenny goya is
10:58in second
10:59reganti is in third salvador is in fourth being urged on by the partisan crowd here then we've got
11:05maimann and krakow they're still fifth and six prime seven obligate bruno nine and ricardo bauer up into 10th now
11:14and that's him just in turn two
11:26crowd for the 385 Jorge salvador here he is now
11:32and he's got storm maimann looking down the inside krakow on the ktm in orange
11:39then preem then opliger then bruno and then in the purple and sort of pink colors ricardo bauer
11:46your poleman fastest in free and time practice earlier
11:52a race winner at the final round race two in lomel in 2025
12:05there he is 292 found his way past bruno so moves up into ninth now
12:16there's david krakow looking to find his way past storm maimann he's got seth preem
12:22breathing down his neck on the number 32 ctm motorhomes preem mx gas gas
12:27oh he's a little bit out of shape coming out of that turn
12:36and opliger in yellow looking for move down the inside of the belgian makes it stick
12:50so opliger now up into seventh place
12:58and bauer just holding in inside line behind the rider in white coming into view
13:03now in the background that's ricardo bauer
13:08off the back of this quartet of riders 292 holding the inside he was your fastest man in time practice
13:17fell asleep in the greenhouse over the winter because he's grown a few inches
13:22over the course of the off season
13:28not everybody getting over this monster energy step down it's only about 20 meters from point to
13:32point and seth preem tips out of eighth place
13:41opliger looking to find his way past Jorge Salvador he also
13:45loses traction at the rear end the rider in yellow
13:50well i'll tell you what brave through there wouldn't he
13:56cracko here hanging on into that fourth place opliger fifth
14:01Salvador maimann and bauer 292
14:04liam bruneau hasn't gone anywhere either he's there in ninth place
14:14preem picked himself back up in about 14th place
14:2315 and a half minutes plus two laps still to run plenty of time for ricardo bauer
14:28the 292 on that norman ktm factory rookie machine finds his way past Jorge Salvador picks off another position moves
14:42into seven
14:53four laps
14:54four laps complete erneke now eight and a half eight point six seconds clear of sleny goya eduardo reganti is
14:59next then we've got cracko opliger
15:01opliger already halfway down past pit lane then storm maimann
15:06bauer to our left on that single now to the inside
15:11with Salvador just behind him
15:15looking to go around the outside of maimann
15:19can't find his way through there but always searching for new lines
15:28again not able to get the distance over that jump
15:34doesn't want to follow the 28
15:39from Denmark if he can avoid it of course
15:46good drive for the ktm rider should hold a nice tight line flies by the yamaha man all of a
15:53sudden
15:55bauer up into six now
16:06a clear track ahead of him about three seconds actually to ryan opliger
16:14of switzerland
16:18knows he just needs to keep a cool calm head doesn't he bauer well maybe he doesn't know that but
16:23common sense would if it prevailed
16:25to say look still got 13 and a half minutes plus two laps lap times hovering around about 153
16:31four five something like that
16:37when you have clear track that is
16:46five laps down
16:49in yellow there's krakow in red
16:50erneke continues to lead slenigo is second
16:54reganti about another nine and a half seconds further down the track in third then krakow
17:00opliger and bauer has whittled that gap right down his half to that gap
17:06with that clear track ahead of him slightly taller maybe slightly stronger
17:12opliger to the outside
17:16in yellow there's krakow in red he's in fourth place at the moment
17:23david krakow on the 281
17:25only scored a couple of points last year
17:28in the championship in the rounds that he did
17:38bauer looking for that inside line once again
17:42and when you think of david krakow in the uh in the hunt just ahead of him in fourth place
17:48didn't qualify at two of the rounds only scored in two of the rounds
17:56and they were low end points as opliger a little bit loose as a goose as he hits that offset
18:01to the right hand side
18:06they're both closing in
18:08opliger and bauer onto krakow just there
18:12watch this here over on the right hand side almost like bottomed out and then
18:16thing just stepped out he was lucky not to catch that top edge because that would have connected and sent
18:21him the other way
18:23and that would have ended in tears
18:26krakow going defensive opliger switches to the outside doubles or triples his way over those breaking bumps
18:31chucked it into the outside line there found like found that line almost inadvertently didn't he
18:42krakow on the 281 doing his best on that dreams racing ktm but meanwhile here's your leader
18:58but what a ride what is early part of the season this riders had actually moritz erneke
19:05929 22nd in last year's championship he was first re didn't go to the first round in kozar wasn't
19:10missing much there to be fair not with the weather the way that it was first reserve when we went
19:16to
19:16france in saint jean d'angeli missed sardinia went to trentino scored there and also in switzerland
19:26missed the next couple around so he wasn't fully committed he did do the last five rounds though
19:30best overall was germany 13th but again another rider coming off of 85s he was about two foot six
19:36when he uh signed up last year to 125s now he's about three foot one bless him hasn't grown much
19:43not
19:43like ricardo bauer but he's a proper little uh fighter isn't he moritz erneke here's that battle
19:54once again over on the left 292 bauer oppliga reganti oppliga goes by reganti who's looking around all over the
20:04place here in the uh the pink gilet of course it's not a gilet it's just the the pink body
20:18and then the white arms
20:23so reganti losing the position oppliga up to fourth
20:28oh and then almost folds the front through that left-hander oppliga
20:38bauer looking to find his way past the yamaha 275
20:45italian doing his best to stay ahead of bauer the austrian
20:54krakow under pressure again from oppliga these two still fighting over third now that reganti has
21:01lost a couple of places
21:18good ride this for krakow
21:24the lead ktm rider out of these two
21:27right oppliga doing his best to stay on the rear wheel of the italian
21:31andrea uccellini has moved up to 12. another rider that's down there that shouldn't be ricardo pini
21:39211 down in 15th place finished ninth in the championship last year started the year off with a
21:46third overall in cosar in spain got another podium in france erne later on in the year
21:54second overall that day
21:58ricardo bauer still hasn't found his way past eduardo reganti these two still fighting over fifth place
22:05and time is running out now tries to lean on the italian who lets him have it

24:38didn't do the last five rounds

24:41got a best result of six

24:46on what was a bit of a muddy weekend

24:53but since then
24:54obviously grown in stature

24:57and Ricciardo Bauer
24:59also growing in confidence
25:01as he closes in on David Krakow
25:05these two now fighting over fourth place
25:07so he's done away with Reganti
25:09to the tune of about nine seconds
25:11all of a sudden
25:13but Ricciardo Bauer
