00:00Haya took a trip to Manhattan and brought themselves back a figure.
00:03Here's a look at the brand new Haya Toys The Walking Dead Dead City Exquisite Super Series Negan.
00:23Negan joins the Exquisite Super Series from Haya Toys. This highly articulated 1 12th scale
00:28action figure from The Walking Dead Dead City stands six and a quarter inches tall and faithfully
00:33captures Negan's rugged facial features. Dressed in a black leather coat Negan's clothing pants and
00:39belt are crafted from real cloth ensuring both superior posability and aesthetic appeal. Negan
00:45comes equipped with a knife pipe and of course his signature bat Lucille ready to face any challenge
00:50head-on. I took a swing but was it a miss? Before we find that out though I'd like to thank the folks
00:54over at Hyatt Toys that did provide this sample. Hey everybody the Walking Dead Dead City Exquisite
00:59Super Series Negan is slated to drop in July 2025 for the asking price online of $104.99.
01:07We're also going to be bringing back in the Exquisite Basic Series of Negan that we've
01:10already had a look at and we'll also bring in maybe another example of a Super Series figure as well.
01:15I don't want to get ahead of myself just yet let's first take the tape measure and see how tall the
01:19figure stands. If you're familiar with Exquisite Super Series and you're familiar as well with the
01:23size Negan's going to stand at six inches in height or roughly about 15 and a half centimeters tall.
01:30Did I say Exquisite Basic Series? What I meant to say was Exquisite Mini Series. Here's what Negan
01:35looks like also with a mini version of himself also from Still Walking Dead Dead City whereas the
01:40smaller version of Negan would have all relied on plastic being the material. The Super Series though
01:45of Negan does now rely on fabric for some of his clothing. Speaking of figures that also rely on
01:49fabric here's also what the figure looks like with the Exquisite Super Series First Blood John J.
01:54Rambo. Right away I can tell you that the sizing really isn't right. Sylvester Stallone is only 5'10
02:00whereas Jeffrey Dean Morgan who has famously played the role of Negan stands at 6'2 so the sizing
02:05really isn't right there. What is still right though is that these Exquisite Super Series figures do come
02:11include with two ways of displaying them on the shelf. First of all you get yourself a large box
02:15display base says Walking Dead Dead City on the top. It does only really rely on one singular peg but
02:21you get yourself an adjustable neck that plugs into that. Now the neck obviously is going to be really
02:25long but you can always really dismantle the parts that you want and just kind of discard the ones that
02:29you don't. This basically just detaches again like all of these by the way just well maybe not that one
02:35right there but some of these again you can just attach take of course the waist clip that you want to use
02:39just attach it onto the peg like that and then instantly like that you can just plug it into
02:43the base. That's a little bit more of a modest way of displaying Negan. Now one thing too is the
02:48neat thing that's also about these display bases is that you can take off the cover and for all
02:52intents and purposes you don't really need to really rely on the entire box if that gives you too high of
02:56a figure and you really want to have something a little bit more closer to the shelf just leave it
02:59off just have it displayed this way instead. While that's really over there though what's inside the box
03:04what's inside the box? You get yourself a Ziploc bag. The Ziploc bag doesn't necessarily say Negan
03:10nor does it say the Walking Dead Dead City but that I'm sure is something you can easily just write in.
03:14Just hope though that your writing is clean. I've tried writing things on bags before half the time
03:19usually I just rely on like the label printers that's a lot cleaner it makes things a little bit
03:23easier to read. Sometimes I've gone back and looked at the things I've written on bags I thought like
03:27did I write this with my eyes closed or maybe I was using my other hand I'm actually left-handed but
03:32maybe I was using my right hand. Either way though all the accessories that you don't choose to
03:37display with Negan can easily then be put in the bag and then put inside the box. What's inside the
03:41box? The accessories for Negan. By the way though for the lid options again you have this one available
03:47that does have Walking Dead Dead City but you also get one here that's been riddled a little bit more
03:52with holes. This actually now has nine holes and again like you get yourself now the option where
03:56you can adjust the neck have put the adjustable neck in any one of those holes. You can put it in the far
04:00corner if you want you can put it right smack dab in the middle. This one thing also with this with
04:06this specific top you can actually use then the eye brackets that come in clear with Negan. These
04:10just plug in place and if you got yourself several display stands you can attach them together that way.
04:16One thing though I've mentioned this and I'll mention again with the review of Negan. I just don't
04:20understand why they choose not to have this with these display stands. Now if you look at it really the
04:25two the one that has more of the holes is clearly a lot thicker so it can accommodate those little
04:30slots. I'd be fine really if they made this a little bit thicker and then they did also put
04:34the little slots in here so you could use yourself the eye brackets which I'm just grabbing right now.
04:39You can take one of the eye brackets and then be able to plug that in place and then if you had more
04:43Walking Dead Dead City characters or any other exquisite minis for that matter just again you'd be able
04:48to attach them that way. But again you get a couple of options available. I know I've said in the
04:52past to display it like this does give the figure a little bit more height if you really don't want
04:56that at all. You simply could just display them on the regular display stand that still has Dead City
05:00on the top. The plate now are the accessories that come in clear with the figure. Negan first of all
05:04does get himself a knife. The knife itself is really more darker in a black color. I do really think the
05:09sculpting looks really good. I don't think I can spot any paint on it nor blood or guts or anything
05:15that he's been taken from a from a walker. This can be displayed in the figure's hands. He does
05:19actually have a couple of gripping hands. You can also choose if you want to move the jacket out of
05:23the way. There is a holster on the side of his leg so you just take that. You don't have to
05:27necessarily make that sound while you're doing it and that basically just slots in place. Now this
05:32I've noticed though is a very tight fit. Very difficult and it almost even seems to like the
05:37way they've done the holster it's almost like they've added too much stitching in there. I have tried in
05:44the past a couple of times made a few passes before I actually took the figure to the review
05:48table and yeah I can't seem to get the knife completely in there. I feel like I really have
05:53to kind of get in there with a real knife not a plastic one and see if I can maybe cut some of the
05:57threading that's preventing the knife from being holstered all the way. With unfortunately that not
06:02being completely holstered of course you're always available options of displaying it. You can just
06:06simply put it in the figure's hands like that. Other things that also come in clear with Negan
06:12you get yourself the pipe. Now I know really the pipe isn't as exciting as his bat but it's still
06:16an accessory that the figure does have. If I can get him to stand here for a second. The pipe is
06:21something I did display at the beginning of this review. You bet you about a dollar though I'm going
06:25to be displaying Negan at the end of this review with Lucille in his hand. The bat though as you can
06:30see is a little bit smaller though than the pipe and unlike the pipe that looks still generally clean
06:35it does look like Lucille's been busy. What a bad girl. You can see though wrapped around it is the
06:41barbed wire and wrapped on the barbed wire there seems to be a good dolloping of blood.
06:46Although the blood looking at it looks a little bit more like it's pink than red but I still
06:50appreciate the fact that they would have added something. I really honestly would have just
06:53gone all out with the amount of blood soaking staining to the wooden bat but they chose to
06:58go a little bit more generous a little I guess a little less generous a little bit more subtle but
07:03it still looks good nice little silver bat. I kind of really feel though the silver that they've used for
07:07the barbed wire is a little too shiny I would have maybe toned that down just a bit but of course you
07:12can take yourself Lucille and just put it into Negan's hands. Now the hands themselves they're
07:17one issue I have kind of really with the hands isn't so much the fact that he can't hold anything
07:22in fact with the double bend that he has you can easily put Lucille over his shoulder.
07:27The figure does have as mentioned several swappable hands. Here's one issue I kind of have with Negan
07:33generally though I feel the figure's face especially is one of the better ones we've
07:37gotten from the exquisite basic series exquisite super series yet though I still feel like when it
07:42comes to the paint and the hands I feel like there's not nearly enough on it on the plastic.
07:46The hands themselves actually look really quite pale maybe not these hands necessarily but really when
07:51you're looking at like his closed fist for example it looks like all the heat has left his hands
07:56all together maybe he's extremely cold I don't know but I just feel like maybe there needed to be a
08:00whole lot more paint on the plastic. The hand that I've got right now actually that I've already
08:04taken the liberty of swapping out when you look at that and you look at the coloring of his face
08:09does it not look like his hands need a lot more of it. Anyways though again the swapping out the
08:14hands again you just pop it off the peg like that take the hand that you want to use even though really
08:18that's the hand I want to display him with let's just say for the sake of this this is the hand I
08:22want to use so you basically would just pop it back onto the peg you want to really make sure it's on
08:27there one of the things though about having small pegs like this is they they do wiggle around a lot
08:32so you really want to make sure you're securely attaching it things that you may also want to
08:35securely attach is also the fact that figure does have an interchangeable head sculpt this is the
08:40default one that we get out of the packaging to show you though as a comparison here's what the
08:44exquisite mini series of Negan look like many I'm sure could easily argue that the larger version
08:50of Negan definitely looks better and looks more like Jeffrey Jeffrey Dean Morgan certainly when it
08:55comes to his body and the way they've done his outfit they look very similar the only thing that's
08:59a little bit different is the coloring of his pants the coloring of his shirts whereas more the exquisite
09:03mini series of Negan kind of kept everything more to a black there's a little more opportunity here with
09:08the basic series or super series I keep getting these all tied up with this super series does give
09:13more of a chance where some of the color can shine so like you got more of a blue there in the shirt
09:17got more than the brown in the pants it's just a lot more color going on for Negan now again so this is
09:22the head soap we get when we get this guy first out of his out of his box really nice sculpting
09:27really well painted too again I don't think I would look at that and not think it's Negan
09:32there's that option if you prefer though Negan to be smiling there's also this one too now to change
09:37the head you're basically just going to hold on to the torso as we always really do pop it off the
09:41ball joint take the new head that we want to use and just make sure it's securely on there the last
09:45thing you really would want to do dealing with walkers and all is have a head rolling away on you
09:50yeah that's that's the defaulted head which again if you just don't like Negan always looking so
09:56serious the smiling face thinks does much better of a job then of course you can take yourself Lucille
10:01and just put Lucille back in the hand and just display the figure on the shelf that way
10:05so I really don't have much in the way of issues when it comes to the face sculpt or the way they've
10:08painted the figure I do have some issues when it comes to how little there is of paint on the
10:13hands themselves the only one other issue I really have with Negan is the material that they chose to use
10:18uh this advertised online where the pre-orders are listed Negan shows as being using real fabrics
10:25a real fabric could really be anything artificial fabrics I guess would kind of be it's semantics
10:30really it's it's the it's the little you know it's not so subtly mentioned like what kind of material
10:35that we're using they say real material I don't think really real material does that mean that this
10:39is real leather I kind of feel like looking at this this is probably more of a synthetic leather so
10:44it goes with that my one issue that over time will this jacket start to flake I mean obviously like
10:50with the shirt underneath this is using just a regular material regular fabric so I don't think
10:54I have any real issues there I don't think there's any going to be concerns either when it comes to
10:59splitting or cracking on the pants my biggest real issue though is whenever they use a material like
11:04this this just seems I don't know it seems like the kind of material that would split and crack over
11:09time now that is only based on like I've had lots of collectibles in my room where under certain if
11:15you don't have a lot of humid conditions where you're collecting or have your collection space lined
11:19out you may not have any issues where artificial materials the faux leather material for example
11:24may split over time I've had like terminator figures for example have had them in years in my
11:29cabinets and not a single one of them have ever really flaked so I say that only really as a collector
11:34that I don't know you may not have any issues at all with this type of material you may have more
11:39of a humid condition environment where something like this may be prone to flaking and splitting
11:44the test will only be with time I can't speak for right now because I've only really had the figure
11:48out of the box for about two hours or so but I don't know if this is the kind of material that's going
11:52to be it's going to stay the test of time you guys also have these little snaps there on the side I
11:57kind of really feel like they're too large when you're looking at the scale for the rest of the figure
12:01overall like I think like the tailoring done whether I really worry about the material or not
12:06I think they've still done a nice job on the jacket the shirt and of course the pants down below
12:10for the figures articulation Negan does have a ball joint yes he does it allows the head to rotate
12:15all the way around you can have the head looking down and up you can also move it back and forth as
12:19well as I have been doing this you've been probably noticing the neck doing this it does seem like the
12:24neck is also on an additional ball joint let's not pop the head off in the process there's actually a
12:29secondary ball joint though for the neck so between those two there's a lot of mobility you can get
12:33for Negan the upper torso is going to be on a ball joint so yeah I can rotate it all the way around
12:38up and down and all the things in between the arms do come out they are a little on the tighter side
12:43but I'd rather a tight joint than a loose joint or a broken joint the arms do move forward and they
12:48move back there is a swivel in the bicep a double hinge on the elbow and the hands rotate all the way
12:54around just be careful that they don't pop off for the legs they split now I would only split them so far
12:59because the seam line starts getting really tight here not that I want to spend a whole lot of time
13:04looking at Negan's groin but the further you split the legs the tighter you'll feel it gets here so I
13:09wouldn't really have it too far of a split just for the risk that that seam may give way the legs go
13:14forward sure enough and they go back there's a swivel there at the top of the thigh double it again hinge
13:19on the knee and some decent articulation on the boots now I like that the boots are using plastic
13:24and not really relying on fabric when we look for example at the first blood john rambo john
13:30rambo actually is using kind of like a softer rubber material over top of the joint so there is
13:35a little bit of kind of restrictions when you do move the joint around you kind of feel like the
13:40feet are fighting against you I don't feel like I have that issue at all when it comes to Negan
13:44that the foot articulation works really quite well probably likely because the ball joints up here
13:50the ball joints not further down all in all though it's a really nice looking Negan some may just
13:55choose to pass over all together the exquisite mini series of Negan maybe just that's not the size
13:59that you really are into collecting the exquisite mini series is certainly they're catering to
14:03collectors that like smaller figures I get that I love smaller three and three quarter inch scale
14:08figures I still do I really do like though the exquisite super series figures especially here Negan
14:14Negan certainly looks the part I will say though from a from the sizing though of the figures it's a
14:18little little wonky it's a little off he shouldn't really be shorter than Sylvester Stallone Stallone
14:23again at 5'10 Jeffrey Dean Morgan at like 6'2 he should be a little bit taller which was really
14:29one of the issues that started now to show up with the exquisite super series that some of the
14:32scaling is off we started noticing that with the unisoles for example when we looked at Jean-Claude
14:37Van Damme he is taller than Sylvester Stallone so it seems to be like the scaling has been kind of
14:42questionable as of late if you can overlook though the sizing of how these figures scale
14:46up with one another man oh man that's a nice looking Negan to have on your shelf luckily for
14:51you you don't have to take a trip to the island if you're looking to get your hands on Negan no
14:55the figure is actually slated to drop this month July 2025 for the asking price online of $104.99
15:00which on average is usually what exquisite super series figures tend to be a good sized figure with
15:06decent levels of posability real fabric outfits and of course all the weapons that he can wield the
15:11most crucial one the most favorite one obviously would be his bat Lucille the one thing that does
15:16kind of have me worried is not so much the fact that the the hands feel like they're not as painted
15:20well you you can really see there is a difference when you're looking like his forearms and then the
15:25hands that are attached to them i'm not really sure why his hands are as pale as they are you can maybe
15:30use the justified reason maybe the man's just cold he needs to get some mittens for those hands the
15:35one bigger issue really that's facing this figure is the type of material that they chose to use for the
15:39jacket the online sites advertise this with the description saying real fabric outfit or real
15:46fabric materials it's kind of a gray thing to say real fabric anything really is real fabric i know
15:51some could make the argument well if something's artificially made would faux leather be considered
15:56real fabric or would it be artificially made still though whatever gray that would be the figure does
16:01have a nice looking jacket i just worry though over time is this something that's going to start to
16:05flake what do you guys still think of the exquisite super series negan and are you a fan of the walking
