00:00A name of a guy was not in contention this week, but it just feels like we're at the place
00:06where every week he tees it up.
00:07We have to talk about him in some way, shape or form.
00:10And so we entered this week, Scotty Scheffler on the back of three slow starts, right?
00:15He was asked about this in the press conference on Wednesday, heading into the tournament.
00:18And his answer was very succinct and very to the point.
00:21Last year on tour, I led in first round, second round, third round and fourth round scoring.
00:25So I'm not too concerned over a very small sample size.
00:29Then this week plays out and he's amongst a group of guys that are a little bit frustrated with the
00:33state of these greens.
00:34His worst category statistically actually was approach, which is obviously uncharacteristic for Scotty Scheffler.
00:41And then leaving the course today, talked to the media and said he was encouraged by some of the iron
00:46play.
00:46He wanted to go out and see, you know, ironed a little bit better, see some shots that he wanted
00:49to see.
00:50Obviously, there were certain holes, the par three where he hit in the tree and they couldn't find it.
00:54You know, there's there's some kind of loose iron shots, but he was saying to the media, he felt a
00:58little bit better heading into players week.
01:00Just try to sum up what you saw from Scott this week.
01:03And if it is just he's in a little bit of a dip in form right now, if there's something
01:06specific that's off, just trying to kind of figure out what we're seeing from Scotty.
01:09Why is the way it is right now?
01:11You know, it's it'd be easy for me to say that that Scotty is is having a dip of form.
01:19Definitely need to go and figure it out. And I think there is some level to that, because I was
01:26a little discouraged by by his iron play this week.
01:29And when I look back to it, you know, Amex was, you know, that was a dome. Right.
01:35So we're going to go past that. But even even the weeks that he got off to slow starts on
01:41Thursdays, it was it seemed to be his iron play at times, which honestly is so weird.
01:46I've seen him come up short and long left and right sometimes.
01:50So just not quite as as deadly. Right.
01:54Where he's able to to somehow be able to judge the wind perfectly, the conditions, the changing air that these
02:02guys deal with day to day, wet golf balls, all of this that that Scotty just makes look easy sometimes.
02:07And like we've we've seen him play at such a high level that that it's easy to now look at
02:14this week and be like, oh, well, he actually ironed it pretty terrible when you look at the statistics.
02:18And I think he did hit a little a lot of bad iron shots.
02:21But, you know, he put that new driver back in place that he liked he saw some things, but I
02:27think he's going to be working hard heading into the players championship, just trying to get his get his stuff
02:32a little bit tighter and a little bit more dialed in.
02:34Because, you know, I must say that I wasn't like encouraged about like him showing up the players championship and
02:43and running out a 65 round round one.
02:46He very well could. But it seems like he's going to have to kind of go get some work done,
02:51see it in the air, start hitting some some higher quality iron shots.
02:55Not to say that he can't flip it around in a second because he can, but I think it's worth
03:00mentioning that, yeah, it was kind of a tough weekend for him with the iron play.
