00:00Especially Rory, if he's told in past years, he's told the media that he intends to play less.
00:05You know, really his focus is going to be on the majors and the biggest events on a year-to
00:09-year basis now.
00:11And then this year, his formula was playing in the players and taking three weeks off and then going out
00:16and playing the Masters.
00:18At a certain point, it's like, why do I need to play a ton if I'm going to show up
00:22and be able to?
00:22Now, I know he spent those weeks taking daily trips to Augusta National Preparing.
00:26It's a little bit different.
00:27Maybe he's going around to make this category.
00:30Maybe that's where he's going next.
00:31But, I mean, I think for him, it's, of course, as a fan, you want to see, especially now with
00:37Doral back on the schedule and knowing what a tough test that's going to be.
00:41And just hearing players talk about how it could be a bloodbath.
00:44And that's, you know, I have great anticipation to see what kind of scores we're going to see this week
00:48and what the setup's going to be.
00:49But for Rory, I completely understand saying my best tune-up's not going to be to go kind of do
00:55that grind and then go, you know,
00:57try to win a signature event at Quail Hollow and then be on my third week at Aron to make,
01:02you know,
01:02especially having played a little bit less, having my body adjust to that.
01:05Yeah.
01:06That's maybe not the best formula for him.
01:07And it's also crazy, too, to think Scotty could, by virtue of playing all the, you know,
01:11he wants his prep schedule to look different.
01:13He's going to have to sit out at an event at Quail Hollow where he just won the major last
01:17year.
01:18I mean, would have been a happy hunting ground for him, too.
01:20I don't think it's – is it been officially announced that Scotty's not playing next week?
01:25That was – it was in Sean's tweet, so maybe that's just reporting he's done.
01:31Isn't that wild?
01:32It's crazy.
01:34Wild to me.
01:35And this is why – I mean, I think –
01:37But he can't play four in a row.
01:38That's the thing.
01:39Like, the Texas guys, like Jordan and Scotty are just in the – it's the worst part of the year
01:45for them
01:45because they have to take one off.
01:47What is Scotty going to do?
01:48Is he going to play Doral, Charlotte, PGA Championship at Eronomy, Byron Nelson, Colonial, and then Memorial?
01:55Like, Jordan's going to play all of them.
01:58Like, I think he's legitimately playing six golf tournaments in a row unless he were to win one
02:02and could afford to maybe take off a Charlotte or something like that.
02:06But it's – I get it.
02:10This is the busy time of the year for the PGA Tour.
02:12But it's also just a terrible, terrible setup for so many players and especially the Texas guys
02:20because those fields, like specifically Byron Nelson, if they don't get Scotty Sheffler and Jordan Speed to play,
02:28that tournament is – it loses that just Texas blood, right?
02:35Like, those are the – who everybody in Dallas goes out to go out and watch.
02:38And if they're not playing, man, it's like, all right, it's Brooks and everybody else.
02:43Well, and I understand too why at some point in the calendar when you have the amount of signature events
02:49that you have,
02:50if the whole goal is – I mean, of course, it's having the best players in the world
02:54and the best that PGA Tour play together.
02:55But there's also this Next 10 Swing 5, this way to kind of play your way into these events
02:59where you can't have them too late in the calendar because at that point,
03:03you don't have a ton of opportunities to play your way into both those events
03:07and the playoffs at the end of the year, right?
03:09There should be more signature events as we go out throughout the year.
03:14When we get through, I think it's Memorial, there's going to be Travelers after the U.S. Open
03:20and there's no more signature events.
03:22That's it.
03:22So basically, if you want to look at it this way, once we're done at Quail Hollow on May 10th,
03:27May 10th, there's only two signature events left after that.
03:30That seems like a little bit – there's too much space there.
03:33And I think that you could have solved your problem.
03:35Now, maybe part of it is do we want to be in North Carolina in the heat of the summer?
03:41Are you going to move Quail or are you going to be in Miami in the heat of the summer?
03:44Both of those don't sound ideal.
03:46So maybe this year, especially with the Cadillac just coming back for the first time this year,
03:50going back to Rale for the first time in a number of years,
03:52maybe that's why, hey, we'll put it here this year.
03:54We'll figure out where to put it long term.
03:57It's why guys that are not in the signature events, if they get off to a slow start,
04:04you just have to – you can't get into a rhythm on the PGA Tour.
04:08It's not like the Corn Fairy Tour.
04:09It's like, okay, it's just – I got another tournament next week.
04:12It's just not the way it's scheduled.
04:13I want there to be good playing opportunities for the entire membership.
04:19And right now, there's good playing opportunities for the guys up top,
04:22and then the other guys are just kind of fighting for scraps.
04:25And these are good events.
04:26It's like there's so many great events in the Florida Swing, the Texas Swing.
04:30You get up in some of those summer events that are in the Midwest.
04:33A lot of fun events, events that I really enjoyed playing.
04:37But you're going up against the same competition,
04:40and you're fighting for a little bit less points.
04:42And then you're also behind on the eight ball where you're watching on TV,
04:47and every single guy, it feels like, is in the red when it comes to the FedEx Cup
04:51and making that top 100.
