2026 MXGP of Argentina MX2 Race 1
Transcript
00:20Six months ago, Simon Langenfelder clinched his first MX2 World Championship at a dramatic final round in Australia,
00:27and arrives here at the season opener in Argentina, proudly supporting the number one plate that he's worked so hard
00:34for since 2020.
00:35With Kai DeWolf and Andrea Adamo moving into MXGP for 2026, Langenfelder is the firm favourite to win a second
00:43title.
00:43But this is MX2 and nothing is straightforward.
00:46Sasha Kunin, Camden McClellan, Guillem Perez, Liam Ebbets, Lata, Vellan are also in it to win it.
00:52And any one of those riders will pose a real threat to the defending champion.
00:56And 2026 is finally here and has the makings of being an absolute felter.
01:01Hello, everybody. Welcome to Argentina and the YPF MXGP of Argentina at the Bariloche MX Racetrack, a brand new venue.
01:10Last year, we were in Cordova. The year before that, we were in Bichalangastora, a stone's throw away from where
01:16we are now.
01:16Just the other side of the lake, about an hour up the road.
01:18But we are still blessed with these Patagonian Andes Mountains.
01:23We've got the lake over there, as you can see in the distance.
01:27We're about six kilometres from that wonderful Nahual Huapi Lake.
01:30And we are absolutely ready to go racing once again in 2026.
01:36My name's Paul Malin and a very warm welcome to the first round of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
01:42We've got a very busy paddock, a very busy hillside, and we've got a fantastic racetrack.
01:48They've left the bumps from yesterday.
01:50They've put a lot of water down overnight and this morning the track a lot softer, but it's still quite
01:55quick.
01:56But there will be a lot more lines.
01:57And if you weren't with us yesterday, here's what it looks like on the track map.
02:011,850 metres long.
02:03We are running at altitude, 850 metres, just over 2,700 feet.
02:06And they send the texture of the ground a little bit hard underneath, a little bit softer, loamy.
02:12The berms, when they dry out, they're going to be very, very powdery.
02:15They're going to suck you in when it's dry.
02:17And they're quite boggy when it's wet.
02:19So the riders are really going to have to think about everything on this racetrack here today.
02:24It was high speed yesterday.
02:25It shouldn't be as high speed today.
02:28Either way, there's going to be some cracking racing out here on this new racetrack here, just outside of Barolochi.
02:35And the crowd are absolutely ready for it as well.
02:41Give them a few minutes to get their positions out there as they prepare for the first serious race of
02:482026.
02:50If you weren't with us yesterday, of course, Tim Geiser gave us a look around this racetrack on his Monster
02:56Energy Yamaha.
02:57Of course, the new signing from Honda over the last 12, 13 years now in the blue corner of Japan.
03:02And it was Tim Geiser who took us for a lap around this racetrack for our GoPro track preview.
03:09So if you weren't with us, this is what the track looks like here in Barolochi.
03:35It's about 80 meters, 85 meters into turn one, but it's a 90 degree left-hand first turn.
03:41As soon as we get out of there, we're over this crest, and that's where the Fox Hulsharp line is.
03:46Through turn two, over that little single, intermediate one ends here from the finish line to the base of that
03:51Monster Energy Jump.
03:52And as we go through turn three, a very wide sweeping right-hand turn.
03:55We dip down ever so slightly into turn four, bank to the outside, this left-hander, and that propels us
04:01into this series of waves.
04:02Nine waves as we cut through turn five, 45, 50 degrees.
04:06And at the end of that ninth wave, it's a 90 degree right, 90 degree left.
04:10Roman Febvre crashed here in time practice yesterday over that little single.
04:14As we climb uphill for the first time, the ground here is very heavy, very loamy.
04:18We turn off of that bank, drop down into turn nine, and the intermediate sector two now ends here.
04:25We're now into sector three.
04:27Out of turn nine, long drag up and over the city, step up.
04:30It's about 25 meters, highest point of the racetrack through turn 10 over that single.
04:34Turn 11, climbing uphill again through this turn.
04:37A couple of waves there, a couple of waves further down as we drop downhill once more to turn 12.
04:42Outside or a couple of waves here to the inside.
04:45And as we head towards the Monster Energy Step Down, we launch back downhill.
04:49It's about 100 meters from the top to the bottom here.
04:52And then we level out on this plateau.
04:54Turn 13, as we get out of here, final sector starts now on the base of the Liqui Molliger.
05:00So from there to the finish line, up into turn 14.
05:03This banked turn, you can go outside, cut out early just to take the line away as we pinch through
05:08this left-hander here before the step up.
05:11Three corners to go before the finish line.
05:14Loose dirt.
05:15You can see how stony it is in places as well.
05:19Pass pit lane here, 95 meters from end to end as the riders approach the final corner before the Monster
05:26Energy finish line jump just here.
05:28And as we come into land, we go right, a short straight, but this turn seems to go on forever.
05:34Got this single here, a couple of riders going down there.
05:37It's quite tricky.
05:38As we get out here, back onto the start straight for another lap here in Bariloche.
05:49Right, it's been out on track for the sighting lap, led out by Sacha Kunin, who took his first qualifying
05:57race win of the season, his third career qualifying race win, ahead of Gim Ferrez, picking up his best ever
06:02quality win in the couple of years now that he's been back.
06:06Last year was his first year, but let's go down to Lisa Lane, and she caught up with a couple
06:09of the riders down there, starting with Simon Langenfelder.
06:14She also spoke to Gim Ferrez.
06:24So, I'm just on the start line here in Bariloche, and we're almost ready for the much-anticipated first race
06:30of the season with the MX2 boys.
06:32Let's grab a few words with our defending world champion, Red Bull KTM Factory MX2 rider Simon Langenfelder.
06:39Simon, let's talk about the qualifying race.
06:41Yesterday, actually, you rode really well, but I guess it just didn't go to plan, did it?
06:45Yeah, what can I say?
06:47We needed to change the wheel after the first lap because I got tangled up with some other riders, so
06:53that was a tough one, but yeah, then I rode quite good.
06:58I passed Sacha again as a leapt rider, so yeah, the riding was good, but unfortunately, the start not.
07:06Actually, let's talk about that move on Sacha, because I thought you passed him just to unlap yourself and get
07:11another lap in, you know, maybe to improve the grid position, but then you pulled off.
07:16Like, was it just a case of, I don't know, just some, like, brownie points there or something?
07:21No, I passed him because I was faster and I felt like he held me up a little bit, but
07:27yeah, the end was, I saw two laps, let's say, and then I passed him, and then I thought, yeah,
07:32it's the last lap in the other lap, so that was a shit mistake to make.
07:37But, yeah, anyway, that was, like, one position I would have gained more, but.
07:42Okay, well, best of luck.
07:44Apologies for the language there.
07:47Okay, the next ride I'd like to catch up with Triumph Factory Racing, Guillaume Perez, who was third in the
07:52qualifying race yesterday, the best qualifying race position for you, Guillaume.
07:56But let's talk a little bit about your winter prep, your off-season.
07:59How did it go?
08:00How was the training, and how are you feeling coming into the very first round of the 2026 season?
08:04I'm feeling pretty good.
08:05It was a good start yesterday of the season.
08:10Winter's been great, training with Camden and Clement.
08:13Clement also rides with us, and it's nice, you know, we can still learn a lot of things from Clement
08:17every day, so it's good.
08:20And I had a really good winter, I enjoyed training with those guys, so it was great.
08:25Talking about your teammate Camden, you guys coming into this season are championship favorites, people are looking at you, I'm
08:31sure you're going for that title.
08:32What did you learn at the end of last year that really could improve your chances for your championship campaign?
08:38Learning about staying positive, staying out of trouble, and yeah, try to make the best out of every situation.
08:44And good start, especially.
08:46Nice to know.
08:47Okay, good luck there to Guillermo and all the riders here on the grid.
08:50It's time for the first race, MX2.
08:58Yeah, it was nice to get the thoughts of the riders as they prepared to go out on their sighting
09:02lap ahead of their first race.
09:04If you weren't with us yesterday, here's what happened in the qualifying race in MX2.
09:07It's quite an interesting one, actually.
09:12First MX2 qualifying race of the year then, Simon Langenfelder closest to it, he lost his balance there, and then
09:18that messed him up coming out of the gate.
09:20On board here with Camden McClellan as he got squeezed between Sasha Coonan and Liam Everett, and watch what happens
09:24here.
09:25Langenfelder gets into the side of the 33 of Kai Carsmakers, foot peg rips out the spokes of the front
09:31wheel of the KTM rider,
09:32and when he picked himself up, he signaled to the team immediately that he had an issue.
09:37Meanwhile, it was Giannis Racilis who was leading the way on the Montstrandity Yamaha last year as the MX250 champion.
09:44Camden McClellan having a battle through on the opening lap.
09:46He was around about seventh or eighth place as he was following the 18 of Valerio Lata,
09:50and the 7.16 over there on the right-hand side in orange, Noel Zanot, Guillaume Perez, sorry, David Braceres,
09:56and Mancini trying to get around him there in that turn four.
10:01But it wasn't the best start for the number one, the defending champion.
10:05Meanwhile, one of his title favorites, Sasha Coonan, not hanging around, launched his way down the inside.
10:11That was Langenfelder going down hard after he came in for that change of front wheel.
10:17Very lucky to get away with that one.
10:18We didn't see that in the live yesterday,
10:21but just to give you an indication as to what a difficult race it was for Simon Langenfelder.
10:26But Racelis on the Yamaha got caught by the 99 of Perez.
10:34He'd also been passed by Sasha Coonan, and then Matis Valand.
10:38Matis Valand going by on lap nine.
10:42And then Liam Evertz a couple of laps later, and that allowed Camden McClellan to close in as well.
10:48Maybe just a little bit too much too soon in the opening laps of the race for Giannis Racelis.
10:52And Racelis eventually coming home in sixth position after being caught there by the number eight of Camden McClellan.
11:08Meanwhile, Sasha Coonan, he went on to win, but look who's ahead of him.
11:14Simon Langenfelder sat behind Sasha Coonan for many laps, having been lapped by him,
11:19unlapped himself with about a lap and a bit to go.
11:23And then crossed the line just ahead of Sasha Coonan.
11:25Not saying he thought he won the race, but he then did not go and complete his final lap,
11:30even though he'd unlapped himself.
11:32But how much of a psychological blow was that for Sasha Coonan?
11:35And how much it was a gain for Simon Langenfelder?
11:38Anyway, the first top ten riders scored points.
11:40Sasha Coonan, Perez, Valand, Evertz, McClellan, Giannis Racelis, Latta, Mikola,
11:45and running out the top ten, Casvalt and Carlos Racelis.
11:48And that means that Sasha Coonan will go to the line with the championship leaders' red plate.
12:03So as the riders then make their way to the line ahead of this first MX2 race of 2026.
12:10All eyes on the defending champion, Simon Langenfelder,
12:13but Sasha Coonan, who took his first qualifying race win of the season,
12:18his third career qualifying win,
12:20he will be in no mood for hanging around.
12:24Absolutely he won't.
12:25Anyway, here's how the riders line up.
12:27Sasha Coonan on pole with that first qualifying race win of the season.
12:32Guillem-Ferres with his best ever qualifying position there in second,
12:38had a handful of thirds last year.
12:39Matisse Valand goes to the line third on his Karasaki.
12:42Liam Evans fourth on the Husqvarna.
12:44Then we've got Camden McClellan, Giannis Racelis, Valerio Latta had one of those races.
12:48I was talking to Marcus Pereira at the Freitas this morning,
12:51and he was saying that it was more a case of he hadn't ridden since that international race in Mantaverso.
12:56He was just lacking that intensity, Valerio Latta.
12:58So when he got, when he passed somebody and got passed back,
13:01it just kind of caught him out a little bit, wasn't ready for it.
13:03So he was in seventh place, Uglis Mikola, equal in, sorry, his second best qualifying.
13:09Got a seventh last year at his home run in Czech Republic.
13:11And then of course, Kaz Valk and Carlos Racelis.
13:13And the rest of the riders there, Jans Wolvoort, Kai Carsmakers,
13:18he got caught up in that first turn melee.
13:20And he got back to 12th, head of Benjamin Garib, Noel Zanonc and David Braceres.
13:25Sasha Coonan wasn't happy when he came in,
13:28wasn't happy with his riding in the qualifying race.
13:30How much of that was because he couldn't shake Simon Langenfelder, who was a lap down.
13:33And how much of that was because Langenfelder found his way past him
13:36in the latter stage of the race.
13:38Who knows?
13:39But one thing we do know is Sasha Coonan can get a good start.
13:4234 foxhole shots in his career so far.
13:45One less than Simon Langenfelder.
13:57Other riders who have scored foxhole shots.
14:01Of course, Simon Langenfelder with 35, Sasha Coonan with 34.
14:04Liam Evertz is your next best with 10.
14:07Then we have to look to Carlos Racelis as your next best with 3.
14:10There's Camden McClellan.
14:11He has one foxhole shot.
14:13That was Trentino race one last year.
14:15Can he add to that here?
14:16What about Giannis Racelis?
14:18New to the class.
14:19He was the guy who got over the line yesterday.
14:22Unofficially, of course, because it doesn't count until race one and race two.
14:26But this 30 minute plus two lap race is about to get underway here any moment.
14:32We just wait for the fly racing 15 second board to go up.
14:40And there it is for the first time this year.
14:42The fly racing 15 second board up ahead of the 30 minute plus two lap race.
14:47Simon Langenfelder was quickest in warm-up.
14:50Liam Evertz, Sasha Coonan, McClellan and Valerio Latta.
14:54But this is go time here.
14:56Five second board has turned.
14:58Championship leader with the red plate over on the far right as we look down.
15:02And he does not get the good jump, but he gets some power from somewhere.
15:05Tries to muscle his way down the inside of Xanotz.
15:08And goes and buries himself down there.
15:10And he comes out in around about 10th place.
15:12He was very forceful in that first turn.
15:14But once again, it is the 7.72.
15:17And he does grab a foxhole shot this time around.
15:22And that is Giannis Racelis leading the way.
15:25Brother there as well in the mix.
15:29But look at the start of Langenfelder this time around.
15:32He emerges in second.
15:33Carlos Racelis third.
15:35So a KTM sandwiched between the two.
15:37Racelis.
15:38Is that the plural of Racelis?
15:40I think it is.
15:42Anyway.
15:42Xanotz there in fourth.
15:44As Langenfelder looking to find his way into an early lead here.
15:47He will know that as long as he's where he is in that second position,
15:50he is ahead of one of his main rivals.
15:53Of course, the number 19 of Sasha Coonan.
15:56Up and over the highest point of the racetrack.
15:59The city step up 25 meters point to point.
16:03Into turn 11.
16:04Through those waves.
16:08Rushless leading the way.
16:14Just as he did in the qualifying race yesterday.
16:17Only this time, it's the world champion,
16:20the defending world champion that's behind him at the moment.
16:26Bit of barbanger going on behind the 47.
16:29Carlos Racelis is Perez looking to find his way.
16:34Past Jens Wolvoort on the 48.
16:36Oh, I tell you what.
16:37Wolvoort was lucky to stay up there.
16:39He was right in the front end.
16:41And Perez does move up into fourth place.
16:50Down pass pit lane for the first time.
16:52But we won't get an official lap until we hit the finish line.
16:55Next time around, that's when we'll get the lap time as well.
17:00But it's Giannis Racelis who leads.
17:03Langathal to second.
17:04Racelis third.
17:07Perez is in fourth place now.
17:09Wolvoort fifth.
17:10Lata in six.
17:11Just pulling a tear off as he emerges back onto the start straight there.
17:14Ahead of the orange there of Xanops.
17:16Then Sasha Coon in eighth.
17:17Cavnau Mcclellan nine.
17:18Simone Mancini in ten.
17:19Then we've got Valin, Bracci, Carsmakers, Garin and Garcia and Smulders.
17:28And just looking down the leaderboard, Liam Everts is nowhere to be seen either.
17:37So down in 20th position a moment ago.
17:45But we'll get that confirmed as soon as we get our timing back here.
17:49But anyway, there you can see Giannis Racelis.
17:52I think he forgot to breathe yesterday.
17:53Just being up at the sharp end right the very first time of asking.
17:56That's why he got caught by the likes of Sasha Coon and Guillain-Ferres,
18:00Mattis Ferdinand, Everts and Camden McClellan.
18:02And why he was dropped to sixth place.
18:03But look at Simon Langenfelder.
18:05Look how cool and calm he is.
18:07How perfectly poised are those foot pegs.
18:10The defending champion is.
18:14Knows that he can just pick riders off at will as and when he needs to.
18:19That's exactly what he did yesterday.
18:20Even in the qualifying race when he was a lap down to Sasha Coon and decided to make that move.
18:26Find his way back to the lead.
18:28Not the lead, but you know what I mean.
18:29Past the race leader.
18:31Right.
18:31Sasha Coonan.
18:32He's on the charge.
18:33He's just found his way past the 48 of Wolf War.
18:37And he goes after Perez.
18:40He's up to fifth at the moment.
18:48Desperately trying to find his way past the Spanyard here on the Triumph.
18:52Goes around the outside looking for that slingshot.
18:54But then he gets out of the berm early.
18:56Circuit a lot more open than it was yesterday.
18:58He cuts to the outside.
18:59Perez goes to the inside.
19:00But as they hit the line, it's Coonan now who emerged in four.
19:04And he's not going to hang around to find his way in the third either.
19:11I tell you what.
19:12Raceless looks across.
19:13Tries to keep him there, but to no avail.
19:16Two positions in quick succession for the number 19.
19:28And he's only got one thing on his mind.
19:30Chasing down the number one.
19:32Simon Langenfelder.
19:39Try to get a little bit of pay back.
19:41Back end just kicking out a little bit there on the KTM rear end of number one Langenfelder.
19:52Didn't seem to affect him too much.
19:55Those rugs have started to appear just as they G out on that roller.
20:00Once more.
20:02Just as they did towards the latter end of the day yesterday.
20:05But fair play to the track crew.
20:11The bumps left after yesterday's racing.
20:15Put a lot of water down overnight.
20:17A lot of water in between the MXGP warm-up this morning and this first race.
20:21And you can see how much softer it is.
20:24Water can definitely take this.
20:26The racetrack can definitely take the water around here.
20:29Look at Sasha Coonan.
20:30A man in a hurry.
20:33The fastest rider on track was the number 19 last time around by about eight-tenths.
20:41As he was chasing down Raceless and Langenfelder.
20:45There's the other riders coming through now.
20:46There's the latter briefly chasing down Jens Walvoort.
20:56There's the other riders coming through now.
20:56Ferez finds his way past the Yamaha of Carlos Raceless.
21:01He will move up at a fourth at the end of lap two.
21:17so as it stands then after two laps 23 minutes to go plus two laps
21:20janice race this 2.3 seconds clear with langenfelder there in second then kunan then perez then
21:32racialists but another fastest lap for sasha kunan 203 127
21:402032 2043 for janice race this and langenfelder respectively
21:48perez about three seconds behind sasha kunan in that fourth place and we've got racialists
21:52walvoort latter mcclellan valand and zanox evarts 14th now after his little error on the opening lap
21:59somewhere not riding 100 today saw him this morning as he arrived at the circuit said he
22:04was feeling a little bit under the weather the number 26 on the nastana spana
22:14just trying to get through today and try and get as many points as possible here's
22:19what happened at the start it might have something to do with why
22:22liam evarts is down there fighting back through the traffic
22:32it's all right
22:38don't fly home till tomorrow i'm good
22:43anyway 22 minutes to go plus two laps evans working hard picks his front wheel up nice at
22:49the bottom of that hill stays to the outside then tries to cut back to the inside as he goes
22:54after
22:54the buddini ducati desmo 250 of simone mancini who's up from emx 250 last year
23:06the italian normally partnered by perruzzo zanke zanke with a slight injury though having a miss this
23:11weekend hopefully we see him certainly round two maybe even round three who knows but the lone ranger
23:18in red for ducati this weekend mancini in 12th place evans behind him in 13 then benjamin garib
23:24chili just over the border
23:27from where we are now
23:31langenfelder responding to the threat from sasha kunan he's put 2.7 seconds between himself and the
23:37belgian with the fastest lap of the race so far 2.01699 2.029 for kunan
23:44so kaz volk here number 172 factory tm this year for tm moto crd motorsport factory racing here's what
23:53happened at the start
23:57middle of the gate oh and that one of those was definitely evans one of those was the uh 172

24:30getting into this battle here as janice raceless now under attack from simon langenfelder who's found
24:36another gear there's kunan at the bottom of the hill
24:45great atmosphere always here at this argentine grand prix and this ypf mxgp of argentina no different
24:58good effort this though from the young teenager 772 two-time european champion one of those in
25:04125 three years ago and last year's emx 250 champion
25:12coming up with no fear whatsoever maybe yesterday caught him a little bit off guard but once you've
25:18led a race kind of get used to it nervous look over the shoulder there though from the young latvian
25:27he's definitely come out firing on all cylinders hasn't he the monster energy yamaha the 772
25:34203 002 for racialist 2028 for langenfelder gap coming back down though kunan 1.2 seconds behind
25:42the german who cannot afford to sit behind the yamaha man any longer
25:49one thing that langenfelder did have in his favor yesterday having to come through traffic
25:55his lines race lines that maybe sasha kunan didn't have yesterday because he led pretty much from the
26:01opening lap after finding his way past raceless
26:11stood down there this morning listening to the bikes heading uphill they are working so so hard here
26:17yeah we're only 8 50 above sea level meters but the ground heavy you can just hear the bikes just
26:24sound
26:24like they're under stress especially the 250s anyway working back downhill in the opposite direction great
26:34view of the racetrack there look how wide it is it's like a freeway
26:40langenfelder wide cuts back to the inside middle of the racetrack as he hits the next jump
26:58and working away towards the end of that five
27:04great effort this once again the honest race is kind of getting comfortable being up front it seems
27:11when you win so many races and get on the podium week in week out in the mx 250
27:15you know that winning that championship prepares you for days like this making it difficult for the
27:21defending champ and one of the title favorites sasha kunan
27:27kunan his gap over perez almost seven seconds on the triumphant fourth mcclellan up to fifth he's
27:34found his way past carless raceless who's now down in sixth place
27:44one thing we know about sasha kunan he will not give up and he won't give it in chiver
27:52mcclellan he just found his way into fifth and goes down
27:59he'll be kicking himself there that looked like it was out of turn two easy corner to make a mistake
28:04it was stood there this morning as well over the foxhole shot line into a multitude of bumps and then
28:09into an inside uh rut which was quite boggy quite slick might have been a simple error for the number
28:14eight but he finds himself now down in ninth place
28:26slow difficult corner that turn 11 especially when it dries out tip guys have run wide there yesterday
28:33in time practice
28:37oh lang and felder closer than he has been all race
28:41will he continue any outside no cuts back to that favorite middle he'll try and switch it back behind
28:47the latvian here he'll go high a little bit wider but it was bred very well by the teenager
28:54but it still paid off for lang and felder who does take the lead at the end of lap six
29:07clear track ahead of him finally now he will look to put some distance between himself and the
29:12yamaha man sasha kunan feet off the pegs bit of a wild ride there going through the final turn
29:20for the belgian just having one of those moments thought about hitting the eject button but decided
29:26maybe not this lap look at that fighting using all of his upper strength upper body strength
29:44hasn't cost him too much time though has it
29:49all over the back a raceless now yesterday the latvian was going too high and wide around there
29:54that's what caught him out on a couple of occasions lost a couple of positions through there
29:58in the qualifying race obviously gone back watched the video decided yeah keep it middle at least
30:07this is very heavy it's a short climb but it's a heavy climb
30:12to turn eight those braking bumps on that face of that little single anything just to upset the balance of
30:19the bike there
30:19but she had longer legs at that moment there doesn't he sasha
30:29like saying hanging over the back mudguard but he's barely over the back of the seat
30:37this is where he got alongside race which yesterday not able to make the move here this
30:42time around but forced his way down the inside in the qualifying race yesterday
30:49have to wait another couple of corners oh and raceless just getting caught behind a back marker
30:54here who holds the inside line raceless went the wrong side kunan moves up in the second with 14 minutes
31:01to go
31:01to go
31:10red bull ktm's one two langenfelder
31:15leading the way for the austrian side when you've got the decali italian side with sasha kunan who
31:22langenfelder won the title for last year of course look at this kunan read it well you can see what
31:28was
31:28happening he cut back early found his way past the the lapper and janice raceless
31:38and the gap between him and the race leader now three and a half seconds exactly there is the front
31:43end
31:43there in turn two a little bit off balance as a result of that ferez still fourth he's seven seconds
31:51further back of janice raceless now let me get jens walvoort in six latter volant mcclellan and evans up to
31:5810th here is gian ferez
32:04ferez last year six and eleven
32:08well this was uh that was his first gp in a couple of years wasn't it had a stint in
32:12america
32:12before coming back here as a factory triumph rider
32:17that is valant on the kawasaki the green rider number 317 going after valerio lata
32:23honda hrc patronas in the white and sort of pink if you like
32:31walvoort just ahead of them on the number 48 489 the last couple of years but
32:37opting for a double digit rather than a triple digit number
32:46oh
32:47oh valant he triples that's a good quite get over that brings him right onto the rear wheel in the
32:52italian
32:54the frenchman see uh sensing an opportunity here
33:03in amongst traffic as they launch downhill latter unsure
33:12and that
33:15desperately trying to find his way past but he's under attack as well from camden mcclellan
33:20who put his best lap of the race in last time around 2032
33:27which when you look at langfelder and kuhner out front 203 16 2036
33:32he is on par in fact he is the third fastest rider on lap eight that time around lap seven
33:37even
33:42uh mcclellan feeling good jamie fell from that fifth position a couple of laps ago a lot of work to
33:52do
33:54on a racetrack that they said yesterday it was high speed difficult to pass but you know what
34:00circuit is now just starting to bed in and to develop a little bit of character
34:08down the inside of walvoort
34:13lateral has already found his way through into six for landing up into seven
34:31mcclellan also going by the dutchman as well
34:39three riders here at the six wheeler bottom of the hill latter valent
34:46and mcclellan
34:51struggling to get over that step up isn't he valerio latter
35:02keeping an eye on the gap between lagapelva and kuning still at just over three and a half seconds
35:08similar lap times last time around 2031 2036
35:12raceless still there in third 2063 perez 4.4 seconds behind 2041
35:24rider bottom of the hill here in blue carless raceless
35:29doing his best to stop these riders from bridging the gap with nine and a half minutes plus two laps
35:34to go
35:52the land holding a nice tight line mcclellan working all of the racetrack
35:56one
35:59desperate to find his way past the young teenage french sensation
36:04he'll go wide cut back and try maybe loop around the outside if he can in turn two here's evans
36:09as
36:09well quietly working his way back into contention but jens walvoort saying no no no
36:17just sit back there wait your turn
36:24you're going to be able to be able to get out of the racetrack
36:25one of those moments in the race where the intensity just got the better of him because
36:30he certainly respected reacted there when evans came by him
36:37here's that battle again walvoort and evans fighting for ninth
36:41and it's been went down on the first turn and picked himself up in what 28th place
36:48when you're not feeling 100 you're riding with a little bit of sickness
36:53maybe it's even quite a little bit of sickness actually i don't know but
36:56definitely didn't sound 100 either when i spoke to him trying to get through this one as best he
37:01can but using maybe more energy in race one than he wanted because how is he going to be depleted
37:06in race two how much is he going to be depleted in race two
37:15another rider who's had to work hard here camden mcclellan didn't make the best start got himself up to
37:19fifth down to nine now back up again into eighth place got latter and ballad just ahead of him here
37:28then the gap walvoort and evans on the last time as farna
37:38mistake here ah folds the front
37:43a let off there that's return nine
37:48cost him a little bit of time but in the blink of an eye all over the back of the
37:52dutchman once more
37:5910 laps in the books
38:03seven minutes plus two to go in his first mx2 race of the 2026 season oh evans
38:11cheeky little line there got out of it early and it worked and he does find his way past walvoort
38:16moves
38:17into ninth
38:27valerio latter tried to out fox valand tried to keep him to the outside had a couple of looks
38:32didn't work out for him valand just said you know what i'm gonna do that i'll just hit the brakes
38:36you
38:37fly right by i'll cut back to the inside and i'll nick your position thank you very much valand now
38:41up in the sixth place
38:44uh david braceros out of the race decided to uh line up in mx2 uh two for 2026 last minute
38:52as a privateer
38:54race one hasn't gone according to plan for the spaniard 15th in qualifying out of race one
39:03mcclellan all over the back of valerio that's an out
39:28mcclellan just tries to get that rear wheel into the ground meanwhile look at this here as
39:32he hit the jump at the bottom of the hill carlis raceless in fifth under attack from mattis valand
39:38who has finally broken free from valerio latter on that honda hrc petronas machine mcclellan on the
39:44triumph
39:50trying to find his way past the italian here closest to us now that goes a long way around oh
39:55it's going to
39:56be tight the two riders almost come together there latter hangs on to seventh place mcclellan
40:07sensed an opportunity
40:12watch this here
40:15this is how tight it was i'll tell you what probably half a bite length in it as they hit
40:21the finish line jump
40:25camden mcclellan would have read that situation as well
40:29made sure he maybe just backed off a little bit just to make sure there was no contact
40:34that carlis raceless just ahead of these guys under attack from valand in their fight for fifth
40:39position a couple of corners away just there top of your screen
40:48carlis raceless on the 47 who was 11th in the championship last year
40:57just having a bit of a moment there laps and longer a lapse in concentration valand an easy pass
41:03in the end for the frenchman as he moves up in a fifth position
41:15finished the year off quite strong in australia did
41:18carlis raceless fourth in the second race of course that was a bit of a mudder
41:23nearly jet skis at the end of the race in darwin australia last year
41:35but he'll be pleased with his performance
41:42he's like getting beaten by his brother though does he who is currently in third place and
41:49raceless carlis racers now getting properly well and truly duffed up now
41:54because that has gone through mcclellan around the outside
42:00mcclellan around the outside of latter a lap after he showed his card to the italian thought he was going
42:06to get ran wide there but latter let him have it in the end
42:11valandfi mcclellan up to six latter down to seven raceless down at eight in the space of a couple of
42:16hundred meters
42:24that's a thought about going there he looked across and then realized you know what
42:27mcclellan had half a bike on him decided to pull out mcclellan up in the sixth position
42:44and
42:52clear track then for south african the triumph racing mx2 factory team number eight camden mcclellan
43:00looks down the hill sees an escaping a disappearing matisse valand kawasaki racing team
43:09mx2 rider
43:15he had about three and a half seconds on him that's a still struggling to get over that step up
43:23college racing is almost finding his way back by and here comes evans once again on the 26th the star
43:29has fallen
43:34circulating in nike with just over a minute under under with just under a minute and a half to go
43:39plus two laps that times here over two minutes
43:43and this barilogy mx racetrack as it is officially known
43:53top of the leaderboard langenfelder nearly five seconds clear of sasha kunan
43:58still a red bull ktm one two four seconds further back johannes raceless he's got 4.4 seconds over
44:04perez in four he has almost 10 seconds over valand so the first four barring any little mistakes look pretty
44:10much sign sealed delivered meanwhile this battle here later graceless who let's have it by there just
44:22drifted wide the belgians snuck through
44:27into eight
44:42evans now going after natta good strong ride this from the belgian liam evans last year wasn't supposed to
44:51line up here in argentina but in the end he did decide to line up came away with an eighth
44:58and a third
45:05currently in eighth as we stand right now
45:10only because of that turn that fall at turn one right at the start of the race
45:19definitely got the the legs on latta because he heads up hill
45:25meanwhile top corner of the screen valand and mcclellan
45:32and launching downhill now back marker to his left in red
45:39didn't get the blue flag memo
45:45still hasn't got it even though he's taking a look across
45:50trying to give himself a a wide berth as mcclellan now does go through
45:591.17 there of juan felipe garcia argentine on his fantic
46:11first time in sector three late on in the race with two to go
46:18here is ferez closing in on janice raceless
46:25can he come away with a top three finish in his first ever mx2 race
46:31the latvian who haven't had a world champion since paul's jonas 2017
46:44but his work cuts out
46:48lisa did a free grid with him yesterday
46:51and he said that uh had a good winter program good boot camp
46:56training hard with his brother coming in with a lot of confidence
46:58the story of his race so far pulled the foxhole shot
47:03hanger felder found his way by quite early on
47:10lap six of uh 14
47:14completed we're on that 15 now and then this was sasha kuning going the right side
47:18of the back marker as raceless went the wrong side
47:28i'm going to throw this under attack now from the spaniard
47:31perez tell you what he's like a dog with a bone isn't he the number 99 once he grabs hold
47:35he's not going to let go if he can sense the top three here and he carves him up like
47:40a kipper
47:44dives down the inside perez up to third
47:48with just over a lap to go langerfelder into his final lap the defending champion getting off to a
47:55great start in 2026 on sunday's race day wasn't great in the qualifying race but he rode fantastically well
48:19the gap between langerfelder and sasha kun and just over four seconds as we go into the final lap
48:23perez nap the third he's already put about a second and a half between himself and janice races who has
48:28done fantastically well to hang it out there for so long newcomer to the class
48:40but the sturdy simon langerfelder on his 100th grand prix start here this weekend
48:49looking to come away with a victory in race one
48:59when two six here last year in cordoba on the opposite side of the country
49:10everts and latter is he going to cut back no he leans on him and just goes a long way
49:14around
49:15latter did try to respond but everts just a little bit more traction
49:21everts now up in the seventh place
49:30handful of corners to go for simon langerfelder appreciated by the fans his efforts here in race
49:37one likewise for sasha kunan are we already starting to see how this 2026 season will play out
49:44will it be a red bull ktm demolition or will the likes of janice racers gian perez mcclellan valent and
49:53the
49:53rest get a look in for now though langerfelder wins race one here in argentina and wins comfortably as well
50:15as they were both fighting over fifth place
50:17and then in quick succession matches for land camden mcclellan with their best laps on the final lap 2026
50:262027 as they were both fighting over fifth place then we have everts seven should be better eight
50:34carlis raceless nine and the ends of war war
50:44coming into this weekend 16 different race winners in argentina since 2015 of course simon
50:50langerfelder with one of those he now has two under his belt
50:56can he make it another victory in race two later on this afternoon
51:00one of those he had to work hard feeling under the weather
51:26four well to get to that seventh place go down to lisa laden she is with our race one winner
51:31simon
51:31langerfelder simon langerfelder today is definitely a new day you got the start you really needed you
51:38applied the pressure and you picked up your first race win of the season uh first race first real
51:43race first win uh that's a good one uh from out there i didn't thought that i could get second
51:48of
51:48the start so yeah then on i i pushed a little bit to pass him and yeah i kept a
51:53nice pace but yeah
51:55drag is getting tricky now thank you good luck for the next race
52:0225 career wins now for simon langerfelder the defending champion getting off to a perfect start here
52:08in race one can you do it again in race two i think we know where the threat is going
52:14to come from
52:16unless somebody else has got their hands on the script tears it up and rewrites a new one
52:22race two coming up a little later on this afternoon
52:26for now simon langerfelder picking up 25 points here from this first outing
52:31so
52:44take a look at the highlights
53:00the first mx2 race of 2026 at the ypf mxgp of argentina janis raceless bag in his first foxhole
53:08shot of the season as sasha kunan went in a little bit hard in that first turn came out and
53:14around
53:14about 10th place it was the latvian who led though on the monster energy yamaha simon langerfelder
53:18stayed up right in turn one this time around unlike what he had to go through in the qualifying race
53:23on
53:23saturday he emerged in second the other race is carlis was there in third good starts also for
53:31guillem for s sasha kunan working his way through the front quickly as well he got around
53:36the outside of carlis race this there as he moved up and started closing down on the leaders
53:44lap six simon langerfelder found his way into the lead with that move on yannis raceless
53:50raceless then went the wrong side of the back marker sasha kunan went the right way he picked
53:55him off for second and yannis raceless would stay in that third place for almost all the entire race
54:01meanwhile his brother was getting duffed up by the likes of four uh 317 of matis valent
54:09valent charging his way through to fifth on lap 12 then for and then camden mcclellan
54:14charged his way through as well evans got the better of valerio latter to take seventh on the
54:20final lap but it was simon langerfelder who crossed the line in race one his first win of the season
54:26his 25th career victory winning here in argentina
54:36the final lap but it was the first time of asking sasha kunan second ferez third then we had the
54:48honest
54:48raceless matches valent camden mcclellan liam evitz and valerio latter
54:53behind them carlis raceless and jens walvoort cars makers was next uh in 11th place ahead of
55:00benjamin garib simone mancini kaz box scott smoulders noel zanots
55:06then we had garcia moreira padilla duran and quino costa picking up the final point
55:20take a look at the foxhole shot shall we
55:32yeah this raceless monster is yamaha factory mx2
55:37proper baptism of fire for him whole shot almost came away with the top three
55:42but picking up a black plate in race one
55:57take a look some of the best moments then shall we
56:05take a look at the
