00:09Phil was a storyteller.
00:11That's probably the gift I cherish the most was just how to tell a story.
00:17No one was better than Phil.
00:19He would always say, Will, don't be boring.
00:23And he certainly was not that.
00:31If you could describe Phil with just one word, what would it be?
00:35Dynamic.
00:40Looky here, looky here.
00:42Good times have come our way.
00:43I mean, this is like some kind of deal out of Hollywood.
00:47Intense.
00:48I would say passionate.
00:50All in.
00:51Your lips go into the south end of the duck.
00:54The way he looked, the way he sounded, the way he hunted, the way he loved, the way he preached.
00:58I mean, all these things were just dynamic.
01:02Welcome to the Phil days.
01:05Is that his butthole?
01:06Just don't think about it.
01:08What about it, boys?
01:09Bunch of yuppies having even caught a fish?
01:12Oh, shoot.
01:15Everyone has camo on and everybody happy, happy, happy.
01:19Everybody happy, happy, happy.
01:21Oh, I'm happy, happy, happy.
01:22Don't doubt that.
01:23But if we learn anything about him, he is happy, happy, happy in the place where he's going.
01:29I just want to go fast.
01:31Life goes by in a flash.
01:33Living free, no looking back.
01:34I just want to go fast.
01:36Keep growing from the past.
01:38Can't slow me down.
01:40I want to go fast.
01:41Fall, lean back, lean right out.
01:45Go fast.
01:47Make the good times last.
01:49Yeah, I just want to go.
02:03When I die, don't cry.
02:09Phil has an announcement.
02:11Dance, sing, but don't cry when I die.
02:19Y'all, I thought we celebrated Phil's life really well.
02:22What'd you think?
02:23Did you think so?
02:26When Phil passed, so many people reached out, of course, to express their sympathy and just
02:31ask how we were doing.
02:32And I think for us, of course, we were sad, but also it was a celebration.
02:37Yeah, I would say for most of his life, ever since he got his faith and understood God
02:42and had that relationship, he was ready for this day to come.
02:47Si, I loved your little shout-outs.
02:50Sorry, Si, I tried to ditch you as soon as I took over the company.
02:55You don't recognize you're going in the rough, son.
03:00Those weren't shout-outs.
03:02He was shouting at me.
03:04He was heckling me while I was speaking.
03:07Well, hey, look, I just can't help you.
03:09I see a big, fat bear.
03:10I got a focus.
03:11He was fun to be around.
03:13He literally touched and had a very good impact on a lot of people.
03:21I feel like the Jep roast was really funny.
03:24Jep slept in the bed with Phil and Kay till he was like 14 years old.
03:33I never physically touched Phil until 2024.
03:40That was, uh, that was part of the moment.
03:43I couldn't help myself.
03:45The outpouring of love has been incredible.
03:48It's been incredible.
03:48Seeing people's comments and stories that we've never heard that other people have shared has been really cool.
03:54Yeah.
03:54I mean, with Pebble Phil being your grandpa, that's pretty epic.
03:58We knew how to build a duck call when we were so young, and so we learned just by his
04:04example.
04:04What if we do, like, an honoring Phil day to where we do all the things pep off Phil loved?
04:11That would be really fun.
04:12Hey, what?
04:12Are we going to watch westerns or?
04:14Yeah, that's it.
04:16The weather channel.
04:17He liked to race.
04:18We could race things.
04:20Somebody's got to pick a duck.
04:21I'm not going to be there that day.
04:23You're not going to be there?
04:23Because if y'all are going to have a Phil day, there's too much work involved.
04:27I ain't showing up.
04:29Yes, you are.
04:33Ms. Kay, I'll just throw things out.
04:35I know you know how to chat.
04:37I know you can tell a story.
04:39Yeah, you'll probably have to shut me down.
04:42I'll take it all.
04:43I'll take it all.
04:45Let me start off with what do you think people remember Phil for?
04:49Well, I think his, he had a tremendous personality that just stood out.
04:57And then whatever he did, he did the best at it.
05:02Phil was the most competitive about hunting who killed the most ducks, who killed the most squirrels, who killed the
05:12most whatever.
05:15And I loved that because he was a man.
05:20He was, he gave it all.
05:32Okay, guys, welcome to, uh, the Phil days.
05:39And we are starting out with one of our favorite things.
05:44This will be a duck picking contest.
05:51Phil could pick a duck and, oh, good grief, it didn't take him no time.
05:56I always said if Phil were a younger Phil, he would never hunt with himself, uh, because it would be
06:02way too much testosterone.
06:04My idea of happiness is killing things.
06:08Oh!
06:12Dang it, boys.
06:13Attack!
06:14Get there!
06:16Man, when he got out there, he was a commander.
06:18And that's where Duck Commander came from because his buddies at the time in the early 70s said,
06:23Phil, you command those ducks.
06:26It's actually getting the feathers off of the duck.
06:30Phil always said one of his dating requirements was you had to find someone who could pick ducks.
06:40You've never picked a duck in your life?
06:42No, but I'm really good at plugging hair, human hair.
06:47He's just great.
06:49He plucked my nose hairs all the time.
06:50Yes, I love it.
06:51It hurts.
06:52Yo, that was his number one fashion.
06:55He would probably rather kill a mallard drake than make love to miss Kate.
06:59Oh!
06:59Whoa!
07:00I'm serious.
07:02I'm serious.
07:03No fun.
07:05Who says he didn't do both?
07:07Okay.
07:08And now that Si has us all in the mood, um, to pick ducks.
07:14Okay, okay.
07:15In the spirit of Miss Kay, we are going to start with the ladies.
07:21The ladies will start the competition.
07:25I do have one memory of Pebble Phil, like, going ham on a duck, and it was at our school.
07:33This is food.
07:35I'm going to show you how to prepare it.
07:38The duck's head has now been removed.
07:40Ooh, a little bloody.
07:41It reminded me how just the next level they can be sometimes.
07:45I don't know if that's, like, a generational thing or that's just them.
07:49I think it's just them.
07:52We're going to give y'all five minutes, five minutes to pick the ducks.
07:57Oh, it smells so bad.
07:59You're okay.
08:01Ready, set, pick them ducks.
08:06Go, go, go.
08:07Come on, come on.
08:08Nice.
08:08Go, go, go.
08:09Nice.
08:09Nice.
08:11Come on, husbands.
08:12Coach.
08:13Coach it like you're having a baby.
08:14Is that his butthole?
08:16Just don't think about it.
08:17Hey, thanks for the encouragement.
08:19Go, go, go, go, go.
08:20No, I can't drink.
08:20Get some water.
08:21No, it smells too bad.
08:22I can't even think about who it is.
08:23The first thing Phil told me was about rolling.
08:27My thumb is like a roller, so I'm rolling them off there.
08:32I'm not picking them, actually.
08:34I'm just rolling them off.
08:35He said, if you don't roll them, you're not doing it right.
08:39Y'all realize that Phil's watching us right now.
08:41Yeah.
08:42He is busting his gut laughing.
08:46And time.
08:47All right, everybody hold their ducks up, please.
08:50Second.
08:51I'm impressed.
08:53In the lead right now, we have Couple Mayo.
09:02Feels pretty good to win.
09:03Feels like normal.
09:05Now we will have the fellas.
09:08You will have four minutes.
09:10Four minutes.
09:11Oh, they're cutting the minutes down on you, boy.
09:14And I think by the end of this, we will figure out who the real men are, okay?
09:20Duck pickers ready.
09:22All right, let's go, babe.
09:23And go.
09:25All right, let's go.
09:26Phil Robertson right now would say, hey, you Maggie yuppits.
09:30Thank you so much.
09:32Phil was so fast, you couldn't hardly see his hands.
09:35Here come the challenges.
09:38Oh, no.
09:39Oh, no.
09:40Oh, no.
09:41Oh, no.
09:41Weather's coming in.
09:43I know.
09:43Weather's coming in.
09:45The weather's coming in.
09:46The weather's coming in.
09:48Pick them down.
09:49He's coming along.
09:50I think Phil would use the term, I'm looking at a bunch of yuppies.
09:5645 seconds.
09:57Who's the man?
10:04Y'all got me holding a fan and spraying me with a water hose.
10:07We're only showing the front.
10:09Okay, and time.
10:12Good job, guys.
10:13Good job.
10:14Good job.
10:16Good job, guys.
10:17I'm confident in my ability, not in the judge's ability.
10:21There we go.
10:22That's our problem.
10:23It's the judge.
10:23Yeah, it's the problem of the judge's.
10:25And I have determined the overall winner couple in this competition, and it was very close,
10:33by the way.
10:34Team Mayo.
10:37Nice job, Mayo.
10:38Good job, Mayo.
10:40Sadie always wins everything, so it feels really nice to have this one over her.
10:46Yeah, I mean, Christian always loses to me, so this is another one to tally on the chart.
10:52You start out here, you could either go down.
10:55See, I'm having trouble right now.
10:57Oh, okay.
10:59Oh!
11:01It was a struggle, but they won it out.
11:05All right, good job, guys.
11:09So the Phil Day celebration, I think, is really sweet in a way to honor him, but also, we
11:15have, like, a lot of ways.
11:16Our family all have podcasts that everyone's getting on and just sharing their stories and
11:22memorializing Phil in that way, too.
11:23All right, what's up?
11:25Well, that's good, fam.
11:27We wanted to do an episode honoring Peppa Phil and his legacy and his life.
11:31Look, it's a day that we all knew was coming.
11:34The outpouring was so massive, which was kind of shocking.
11:41We are celebrating the life of my older brother, Phil Robertson, the man known as the Duck Commander.
11:51Here's a guy that spent 95% of his life in the wilderness.
12:04Pull.
12:05The first time your dad shot, he did the same thing.
12:07I've gotten better.
12:08I mentioned to Dad and Mom, I was like, oh, just, like, my biggest regret is I never went
12:13duck hunting with him.
12:14And Dad said, he didn't want you to.
12:16And I was like...
12:17I only went hunting with him twice, okay?
12:19The first time I went, this is what he said.
12:22John Luke, you're what's called a limit extender.
12:28So you just, you sit there, you're going to add to our limit, and you just watch and observe.
12:35You know, we like to call it a ripple.
12:37His ripple...
12:38Tidal wave.
12:40Yeah.
12:40Yeah, we're not even to the ripple part of it yet.
12:43Like, his won't be a ripple for another hundred years.
12:52All right, guys, this is an honor of Phil.
12:55The three places I feel like he loved to be was church, the woods, obviously, and his recliner.
13:03How would you describe Phil's relationship with his recliner?
13:07With his recliner?
13:09His recliner.
13:10Tight.
13:12I'm a happy person.
13:14That chair is the most disgusting thing.
13:17I mean, it stinks.
13:18There's a few dog toys.
13:19It's got insects.
13:21What is a fly slaughter?
13:22That chair is a health hazard.
13:25Now we're cooking with peanut oil.
13:2899% of my memories of being at their house, in my mind, he's in that recliner.
13:35It's like when a person loses something, and then you find what you lost.
13:43That makes no sense whatsoever.
13:45Oh, yeah, it does, if you think...
13:47How is your relationship with your recliner, like, losing something, and then you can't find it?
13:51Because then you find it, and then you throw a party because you found it.
13:56So we have come out with what we're going to call Phil's Grand Prix.
14:01We have fastened wheels to recliners, and we're going to race.
14:06And in the end, we will see who gets the award and the coveted thumbs up.
14:13Beautiful rock.
14:14Okay.
14:15Oh, no.
14:17All right, out of the way up there.
14:18Make way, make way, make way.
14:20No, Uncle Si's here.
14:22Okay.
14:24Si, what are you doing here?
14:26I'm the last man standing in the Robertson family.
14:29You think you're going to do anything?
14:31Well, okay, that's a good point.
14:33I'm like a good receiver.
14:34Always on point.
14:37Good one, Si.
14:38Oh, hey.
14:39Oh, my gosh.
14:41Who invited him?
14:43Don't be like that, Dimples.
14:45Hey, he's my manager.
14:48You hired Phillip McMillan as your manager?
14:51Well, hey, I couldn't beat him before I bought him.
14:54What is going on with the Duck Boys?
14:57What are you doing?
14:58What did that ball do to you?
15:00What, he got to deal with Tom Brady?
15:01He comes in pain, okay?
15:03I'm going to bury the hatchet in Willie's head.
15:09Oh, my.
15:11Look, in honor of Phil, we're going to keep the peace.
15:15All right, we're keeping the peace.
15:16How about that?
15:17We're keeping the peace.
15:18Peace is, hey, ceasefire's been signed.
15:21Okay, so we've got three recliners.
15:22We're going to have three teams.
15:24There will be pushers, and there will be a sitter.
15:27I'm sure Phil's looking down right now.
15:29He is thinking to himself, what a stupid idea that is to do.
15:34But, hey, racers, get ready.
15:47Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.
15:55Ow.
15:58Okay, we will go back to position A.
16:01We are back to position A.
16:03Phil loved his recliner.
16:05It was one of his most cherished possessions.
16:07He also loved racing.
16:09So, combine the two, voila.
16:14Hey.
16:15Miss Kay, tell me that was not my chair
16:17heading up the road with them hippie girls.
16:19I would say it's kind of a shock to a man's system,
16:22you know, when some of his stuff is out in the yard
16:24being pawned off to the local rednecks.
16:26It stunk.
16:28We had a garage sale.
16:29They got rid of the dumps.
16:31I didn't consider my chair at this point to be rummage.
16:35If Phil wasn't in the woods,
16:37he would be in his recliner, comfy,
16:41and always have a dog in his lap.
16:44Hey, buddy.
16:45And that's his indoor happy place.
16:48Hey, buddy, I'll get you a new chair.
16:50How about that?
16:52Now we cook up a peanut.
16:54There you go.
16:56On your mark.
16:58Come on, make it proud, make it proud.
17:01Go!
17:06Back up, back up.
17:07Total spit out, total spit out.
17:09We got a total spit out in the first corner.
17:11Watch out, watch out, watch out!
17:12Woo!
17:13Hey, you guys are putting the lazy back in, lazy boy.
17:17Take it, but John, look.
17:18Oh, they run into the wall.
17:19The wall of will.
17:21The wall of will.
17:22In the grass.
17:22In the grass.
17:23Okay, come on, come on, come on.
17:24Come on.
17:25Oh, crap.
17:27Well, now we've got Rebecca going in reverse.
17:30Hey, Rebecca's going backwards.
17:32I know.
17:32She's eating nothing.
17:33Go!
17:34Come on, we got to catch up.
17:35We need the finish line.
17:37It is looking like a runaway race.
17:40Runaway race.
17:41And the winner is Rebecca coming in second.
17:46Bella!
17:48And bringing the rear is the wind-resistant Corey.
17:52I was pounding on you, Christian.
17:53Woo!
17:55Here, look at my feet.
17:56Yeah.
17:56Because I went barefoot.
17:57Look at the bottom.
17:58Oh, my God.
17:59Like, it was actually working out good that I was backward, because, yeah, I got to watch
18:02everyone lose.
18:03That was awesome.
18:04Good job, guys.
18:06Good game.
18:07All right, good job, team.
18:09Rebecca, John, Reed, and Will step forward.
18:12You get the official from the recliner lean back.
18:17All right, let's go get on that iced tea, boys.
18:27All right.
18:32Thank you for coming down to the river house.
18:35This is where it all began.
18:37In memory of Phil, for our field days, we're going to do two things.
18:40One is fishing, which Phil loved to do, obviously.
18:43But also, Phil was a great storyteller, so I want to hear your best story while you're
18:50fishing.
18:51Before Phil started Duck Commander, he was a commercial fisherman on the Ouachita River.
18:56So to me, it just made sense to take my whole family back to our roots, where it all started.
19:03Catfish will score the most points, because that's what we could sell when we were kids
19:08for the most money.
19:09Is this a competition?
19:11Everything's a competition.
19:13I thought this was just for fun.
19:15It's always just for fun.
19:17But also a competition.
19:19All right, pipe down.
19:22Woo-hoo!
19:23Let's go get some fish.
19:24Woo!
19:25Yeah!
19:26Who's got water?
19:29Phil was the happiest when he was fishing.
19:33And he always was a storyteller.
19:37I mean, I remember coming to school, and he would be the top of the stairs, and under him
19:43was a bunch of boys listening to his stories.
19:47Oh, there's something in there.
19:49Ain't nothing there.
19:50Shoot.
19:51All right.
19:53Oh, shoot.
19:54Oh, Mom?
19:56Mom?
19:57Okay, Kate.
19:58Man, bam.
20:00So the first time I ever remember coming, actually, down here to this property, came to their house.
20:04I was in fifth grade.
20:05I had met Willie the summer before at camp, and we got invited to come down here for a
20:10fish fry.
20:11So I walk into this house, and I see Phil in person for the first time.
20:18White t-shirt, camo pants, big black beard, and he comes up to my friend and I, and he
20:23says, have you met my boys?
20:25And we're like, yes, sir.
20:27And he says, no lie, he says, they'll make good husbands someday.
20:33And I was like, what?
20:35Just like you.
20:37Nice cast, Bella.
20:39All right, boys, what about it?
20:42It's because of fishing.
20:44Hey, she's really in character.
20:45I like it.
20:46Anybody feel like they're about to catch some fish, boys?
20:49Yeah.
20:50She's celebrating field day right, man.
20:52Bunch of yuppies haven't even caught a fish.
20:55I actually, I'm really digging it.
20:58I've never seen someone like when their wife looks like their grandpa.
21:01That Florida boy, he's a little odd.
21:04Sadie.
21:05Hey, Sadie, flip that rod over.
21:07Don't embarrass yourself now.
21:08Turn.
21:09There you go.
21:10There you go.
21:11That has been so weird to me.
21:13There you go.
21:13You know?
21:14There you go.
21:14Don't that feel a little better?
21:15That feels a lot better.
21:17I've been trying to figure out where my finger goes.
21:22What most people don't know about Phil and fishing is this is how he paid for Duck Commander.
21:28Like, without fish in this river, this body of water, there would be no Duck Commander because he didn't have
21:33the money to buy the duck calls to bake and then ultimately to sell.
21:37It's just crazy to think that there is no Duck Commander without fish.
21:42Y'all watch this.
21:45Oh, look at her now.
21:47Happy, happy, happy.
21:51Can we have a conversation real quick?
21:53Is this the birds and the bees?
21:55Something like that.
21:56The birds and the deer.
21:58What you got?
22:00We've been thinking, mainly since Phil's passing, like wanting to continue just the legacy kind of that he's left and
22:08obviously that you've left.
22:09Well, you haven't left yet, but you're still, you know, you're still.
22:12What exactly are y'all trying to say?
22:14We want to be Duckman at Buckman.
22:21We just want to help in Subway.
22:27Well, I guess we just need to have a conversation about it.
22:30Can this be that conversation?
22:33I don't know.
22:33I wasn't prepared.
22:34I don't know if I was ready for this conversation.
22:37Here's the deal.
22:38I'm glad these guys want to be a part of Duck Commander.
22:41I think it's cool.
22:41It's part of Phil's legacy.
22:43But I'm not just going to let them join just because they married my daughters.
22:47How odd.
22:48They just want to be a part of the family.
22:50This is sweet.
22:51I guess we can see what y'all got.
22:53Okay.
22:53That's it?
22:55That's where it starts.
22:57Let me just say, by the time I get through with them, I think they may regret everyone to be
23:02a part of this company.
23:03It starts something you can't even finish, boys.
23:08Phil Robertson knows more about the Ouachita River than the Army Corps of Engineers who quote-unquote designed it.
23:15Because it was his lifeblood.
23:18It was everything to him.
23:20He used to bass fish the same way he ducked on it.
23:23We would go and be at the lounge at 4 a.m.
23:27And, like, we'd be leaving at 7 that night.
23:32One thing that is so funny now, like, us having kids, it's like you can't imagine them doing the things
23:39that we did.
23:41But at the same time, I want them to be like that.
23:44Like, the other day I was looking at Honey, I was like, oh my gosh, you need to be outside
23:47more, you need to get dirty more.
23:49Even just being a country kid from Louisiana and, like, building forts outside, like, I really want to make sure
23:55I pass that down.
24:04How you feeling out here, Boss Hog?
24:06Bringing back all the memories?
24:08It is.
24:09It's like when I was a kid, but there's 20 more people here.
24:13Thinking about, you know, I'm about to birth a child, the generations will continue on.
24:18You can kind of feel some pressure, in a sense, to be like, how are you to carry on his
24:23legacy?
24:23Did you catch any?
24:24I did not.
24:27But I looked the part.
24:29I kind of wish I had a little bit more of the outdoorsy in me, but I do feel like...
24:34It ain't all that.
24:36I know.
24:36I think I have a lot of other things in me that he...
24:39Oh, for sure.
24:41I think people like Phil, you know, it's hard to...
24:45You just ain't gonna have another one like that.
24:47Mm-hmm.
24:47But you can probably see it in multiple people, the different traits and stuff that he passed on.
24:54It's kind of the way legacy goes, you know?
24:56Mm-hmm.
24:57I think in Sadie, I see the boldness, especially for her faith, because a lot of people aren't outspoken about
25:02their faith,
25:03and most people never want to get up and talk in front of anyone.
25:06Yeah, he did a lot of big things, but I think the most significant thing was just how he loved
25:11God and he loved his neighbor.
25:12I appreciate how you're carrying on his legacy and bringing us out here.
25:16It's really fun.
25:17Well, he was the real deal.
25:20He taught me a lot, so...
25:21Oh, they're being bold now.
25:23Whoa, whoa.
25:24Right there.
25:25Right there.
25:27Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I got a guard.
25:30Are you kidding?
25:30Oh, shoot.
25:32Whoa.
25:33Dang it.
25:35Yeah, that guard was that big.
25:36Dang it.
25:37Growing up, we were always fishing, and you get Phil in a boat on a river, he could explain all
25:44the nuances of life, whether you ask for it or not.
25:48One time I was fishing with Phil, he said the words I'll never forget.
25:53Better a day full of fish...
25:56...than a lifetime of crabs.
25:59Oh, my goodness.
26:02I'll tell you right now, there's not a doctor in this state who could give you a better exhaustive list
26:08of every venereal disease than Phil Robertson.
26:12It's sephilis, gonorrhea, herpes.
26:15Wow.
26:17I'm like, I don't think so.
26:19I think our culture needs more grandpas riding along with grandson and girlfriend.
26:27Yeah, it's good.
26:29It's good.
26:30Why did he, why was he so passionate about this?
26:34It was his biggest fear.
26:35He didn't want anybody to...
26:37Uncle Si, when did he start saying stuff like that?
26:39He's always been, you know, whatever was in his mind come out of his mouth.
26:46Wait, you got one.
26:47You got one.
26:48Watch out.
26:49Watch out.
26:49Oh, my God.
26:51Oh, my God.
26:52He's in that.
26:53He's in that.
26:54Oh, my God.
26:55He's in that.
26:56Winner of the fishing contest...
26:59Oh, my God.
27:00...John Shepard.
27:01Yeah!
27:04Best storyteller.
27:06I'm going to Sadie Ruff.
27:08All deserved.
27:09Went all out on that one.
27:13What do you miss most about Phil?
27:17Probably number one would be the food, the hamburgers he cooked.
27:21No, I'm serious.
27:23It's his steady force.
27:24You always knew where he was going to be.
27:26You knew he was going to be in that recliner if you needed him.
27:30That's one of the main things you miss about Phil, them hamburgers?
27:33It's a hamburger.
27:33Yeah.
27:34The thing I miss most is in duck season because, I mean, we've hunted together for over 50 years.
27:41So, obviously, I'm missing that.
27:46Son said he's going to miss his hamburgers.
27:49Yeah.
27:50That's what I'm saying.
27:52You know, we're going to miss most about your last living sibling.
27:55Them burgers were good.
27:57Yeah.
28:03Ladies and gentlemen, this is a big moment.
28:06Y'all know that Phil hated beavers, so...
28:09With a passion.
28:10With a passion.
28:12Yeah.
28:12Big passion.
28:13Something ain't right here.
28:14Where'd the water go?
28:15I don't know.
28:17In order to attract ducks, we have a levee system to hold pools of water.
28:23No water, no ducks.
28:26Phil hated the beaver and the beaver dams.
28:29He just despised them because they stopped his hunting.
28:32It was a battle.
28:33I see beaver signs, Si, all out in here.
28:37And buck-toothed rascals.
28:38Who do you think was winning the battle?
28:40At that time, it might have been the beaver.
28:43But it wasn't that he didn't try.
28:47The beaver war.
28:48No matter how many you get rid of, they just keep coming.
28:51Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
29:13Hey, the boy hated beavers with all of his being.
29:18So now we can now get on to it and let the show begin.
29:21We're going to blow that beaver dams to hell.
29:26In honor of Phil Robinson.
29:28All right.
29:29Here we go.
29:30Three, two, one.
29:41That was so cool.
29:43Yeah.
29:43Yeah.
29:44That was so cool.
29:45Yeah.
29:45Woo.
29:46Yeah.
29:47Yeah.
29:49That was so cool.
29:51Phil hated beavers, but he loved explosives.
29:54So it was sort of a trade-off.
29:59I've always wondered, was his hatred of the beaver just a chance for him and Uncle Si to blow stuff
30:05up?
30:10The best thing ever.
30:12The best thing ever.
30:13Hey, that was for you, big brother.
30:21All right, guys.
30:23It all comes down to this.
30:26Phil was passionate about a lot of things, but probably none more than the burger.
30:31So this will be the Phil cook-off.
30:35Believe me, they won't be as good.
30:38Believe me, they won't be as good, but you could be third.
30:40Are you second?
30:41Are you second?
30:42Phil.
30:44So, uh, he's not here to argue.
30:49So, uh, I could have...
30:52When you complete your burger, just go ahead and bring it over.
30:55We want them hot, and we want them fresh.
30:57Your best things.
30:59All right.
30:59Start your fires.
31:00Let's go.
31:01Get them burgers off.
31:06Take your time.
31:07We don't want to eat crap.
31:08We're good.
31:08I think everyone knows that Miss Kay is a really great cook, but Phil was a good cook, too.
31:13His burgers were legendary.
31:16Oh, yeah.
31:17He set off a mini-smoke alarm making those burgers.
31:21Well, when you're cooking hamburgers, and you want to cook them right, you have to have
31:27the fire so hot that you will have a smoke-filled room.
31:33Ty, out of this family, who makes the best burger?
31:35Phil.
31:36They had to be the best, and he made them.
31:40Always.
31:41And it had to be exactly the certain way, cooked a certain length of time, and he just, nobody
31:49could do it but him.
31:50Let's eat, boys.
31:52Let's get on these burgers.
32:00Pebble Phil had some legendary burgers.
32:03It was always kind of like, who has a better burger, Pebble Phil or my dad?
32:08And the family was kind of split on this, and so...
32:11I actually never got to try a Phil burger.
32:12I know.
32:13So maybe today...
32:14I've eaten a lot of Willie burgers.
32:17Do you think that's too thin?
32:19If not, we can throw another one.
32:22What do you mean?
32:23So, Bella, what we got?
32:24It is a homemade bun by me, homemade bacon jam, and a homemade special sauce.
32:31Special, homemade special.
32:33I do love a bacon jam.
32:35It would be really sweet to win this one because I love to cook, and when I was growing up,
32:41my
32:41grandparents loved to teach me how to cook.
32:43Also, what did Pebble Phil tell you every single time he would see you?
32:48He says, is Bella cooking for you?
32:50And I say, yes, sir.
32:50And he says, is it good?
32:51And I'm like, it's good.
32:54Our strategy is Christian loves his burgers, but it's never enough.
32:59He always wants to eat like five of them.
33:00And so, we're doing a double patty Willie burger.
33:04It's called the Big Willie.
33:09Do you like your steaks medium well?
33:11No, medium plus.
33:12It's not medium well.
33:14They always ask you, the waitress does, how do you want your steak served?
33:18And I said, hey, I want it medium plus.
33:21Medium plus.
33:22I've never heard it.
33:23I've dated a few girls who were medium plus.
33:25Stay out of there.
33:26Switches, boss.
33:27We're trying to go outside box because I know typical burger is not going to win this competition.
33:34So, we're doing hot water, cornbread, duck, and fry shrimp.
33:39Mary-Kate and Jean-Luc, I would think they'd have traditional, except for Jean-Luc is way crazier than Mary
33:44-
33:46All right.
33:49Pebble Phil put a lot of details in those small things, but he also went big.
33:53And that's what we're doing here, literally.
33:56How long?
33:57Until it's ready.
33:59Good answer.
34:01The burger that we're making is a breakfast burger.
34:04We're using a waffle bun, and we're having eggs, bacon, cheese, and syrup on top.
34:15Here's what I know about Will.
34:16He likes to eat.
34:18You never touch a skinny chef.
34:20No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
34:21Is that why you were never a chef?
34:23That's why I am a chef, yeah.
34:24He's just the eater.
34:26Couldn't trust him.
34:27Couldn't trust him.
34:28I don't know if this really embodies Pebble Phil.
34:31We just had a really fun idea for a burger.
34:33This would be a great burger.
34:35I was worried most about Rebecca and Jarmid, but I saw their burger.
34:44Can I help you?
34:45I think I'm okay, chef.
34:46Just let me.
34:47Hey, chef.
34:50Hey, this is nice.
34:51Cheers.
34:51I'm enjoying Phil days.
34:53This is huge.
34:55This is freaking beautiful.
34:58Look at that.
34:59Look at that cook.
34:59That's all my freaking baby.
35:02Sorry, honey.
35:03All right, Jesus.
35:04Uh-oh.
35:05Uh-oh.
35:06Uh-oh.
35:07Uh-oh.
35:07So we have a take on Willy Burgers.
35:10The only problem with Willy Burgers is it's just never enough.
35:14We doubled it up because they're just that good.
35:17Wow.
35:21It's quiet.
35:23It's quiet.
35:26It's juicy.
35:28What?
35:29It is a little light.
35:31On flavor.
35:32Say it could use a little more seasoning.
35:34But I think that's a good burger.
35:36Overall, it's a good burger.
35:37Yeah.
35:38Thank you, chef.
35:38Thank you, chef.
35:39Oh, that stinks.
35:41I really tried.
35:42And you liked it.
35:44Baby, I'm not hard to please.
35:46You know that.
35:47Uh-oh.
35:48Christian's not looking good in there.
35:49Christian's crying.
35:59I can't already tell.
36:03Actually, Willy's a lot like Phil.
36:05Phil loves to cook.
36:07Mm-hmm.
36:07Willy loves to cook.
36:09Food is one of the best teaching tools that there is.
36:12That's what I'm talking about.
36:14You better believe it.
36:15Whatever everything goes south, there are no chicken nuggets.
36:18No big, tall Coca-Colas and fries.
36:23What then?
36:24Also, just the carrying on a tradition.
36:26Willy really loves to carry those traditions on like Phil did.
36:30There's some fine stuff that grows out here in this swamp.
36:34Pass me another frog.
36:37This is it.
36:38Here comes the presentation.
36:40Here is our burger.
36:42Wow.
36:43Homemade bun, bacon jam, and special sauce.
36:50Holy cow.
36:51Okay.
36:52We love a good holy cow.
36:53You got a burger ready, boys.
36:56Okay.
36:56Wait, what?
36:57Wow.
36:58What do we have here?
36:59The holy trinity.
37:01Wow.
37:03So basically, three of Phil's favorite things.
37:06The burgers are made out of duck.
37:08You got shrimp.
37:10The burgers are made out of duck.
37:13Duck and pork, yeah.
37:14Okay.
37:14It's like having a meal at Pebble Phil's house.
37:18I ate a lot of meals at Pebble Phil's house.
37:20I never saw that one.
37:21No, I never had.
37:23We're down to the Robertson younger and the Robertson older.
37:27This is just not going great.
37:30It's not melting?
37:31No.
37:31I didn't really consider how dang thick it was.
37:34Time out.
37:35Abby's poured syrup.
37:36Hold on.
37:37Burger ready.
37:40So what we have here, a breakfast burger.
37:44You have cheese.
37:46Of course.
37:46Then your burger.
37:47Bacon.
37:48Oh, yeah.
37:48With two waffle buns.
37:49Oh, yeah.
37:50And some syrup drizzled on it.
37:52Oh, yeah.
37:52Holy dabby.
37:53Hey.
37:55Dad just gave that the head nod.
37:57The eyebrow head nod is similar to a thumbs up.
38:01Just need one bun.
38:03Because everything past the top bun is incredible.
38:08I just drank the syrup.
38:10Oh, wait.
38:12What?
38:12What in the world?
38:14What?
38:14You are your father's son.
38:15We thought in honor of Phil, since he always went big, to go as big as we could go.
38:21That's big, all right?
38:22This is go big or go home.
38:24This is go big or go home.
38:25If you ate that, you may have to go home.
38:28You ain't gonna make it.
38:29That's good.
38:31Mmm.
38:31That's good.
38:32It's really good.
38:33Holy cow.
38:34The meat's real good because the smoke, you can taste the smoke from the fire.
38:39A statement that is shocking but also is kind of good is the essence of Phil.
38:45And I think we captured the essence of Phil with our burger.
38:49This was harder than I thought it would be.
38:52But we have come up with who we think won the contest.
39:00So, Bella and Jacob.
39:04We won.
39:05We won.
39:06I'm proud.
39:07This was a good win.
39:09Yeah.
39:09And we won duck plucking.
39:11We won Phil Day.
39:14All right.
39:15Here we go.
39:16So, do you want to say the prayer for us tonight?
39:18Yeah, I can.
39:20Father, we thank you for all the blessings of life.
39:23Especially father with Phil and Kate.
39:26We know that you called him home.
39:28We're glad for it.
39:29Okay.
39:29He's had his time on this earth.
39:31Be with Kate and give her a long life and joy and peace.
39:36We ask this prayer through Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
39:39Amen.
39:40Amen.
39:41All right.
39:41Let's get on these burgers.
39:42Let's get on that chicken.
39:45When my dad got to the final moments of his life, he started doing things he had never done before.
39:52He told me he loved me more than I've ever heard him say that in my entire life.
39:56Yeah.
39:56I remember the first day I walked out and my wife said, well, how'd that go?
40:01I was like, well, he told me he loved me.
40:03He didn't really have to tell me.
40:04I mean, he had proven his love just by the way our relationship went.
40:10You don't know when your last day is going to be.
40:12You know, your last day could be today.
40:14You don't always get to know when someone's about to pass.
40:19And I feel like I'm so grateful for all the times we had.
40:23What do you think people remember Phil for?
40:29Legacy be to you.
40:33The learning to be together.
40:41Marriage is a fight.
40:44Togetherness is a fight.
40:46But most people won't fight.
40:49They give up.
40:56Don't give up.
40:59Lord of the Rings.
41:01Hey, ain't no big thing.
41:04Wow.
41:05Let's see, Miss Kay.
41:06We've been running together since we were teenagers.
41:11The old blue Chevrolet, side and the back.
41:15You have cooked me many a good meal.
41:18From your loins came four healthy, godly men.
41:24You are my best friend.
41:25And I love you dearly.
41:27And I'm going to be with you for the long haul until they put me in the ground.
41:32Good?
41:34Perfect.
41:35I'm sorry to say I didn't have that when we first married.
41:39Oh, it's okay.
41:41Yeah.
41:42Keep it together.
41:44So by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, again, husband and wife.
41:50Dad, you may kiss your bride.
41:52Yeehaw!
41:53And that's what I'm talking about, Jack.
41:57Woo!
42:02Most people in the world say when you die, you're done.
42:06It's over.
42:09We fear death.
42:12But as a son or daughter of God, you shouldn't fear it.
42:15You should look forward to it.
42:18It's the beginning of your eternal life.
42:25If you just trust in what he says, and you do what is right,
42:29and do what is good while you're here.
42:37Amen.
42:38Amen.
42:38Amen.
42:39Amen.
42:39Amen.
42:40Amen.
42:41Amen.
