00:00Truth is out there, clearly. It's right here on CNN News Central.
00:03Apparently, though, it's about to be released.
00:05The president promising to release files on UFOs and extraterrestrial life after President Obama says they're real.
00:12I'm Kate Baldwin with John Berman and Sarah Seidner. This is CNN News Central.
00:16Fires ripping across the entire state of Oklahoma.
00:19Hundreds of thousands of acres burned.
00:21Nearly one and a half million people now facing a fire weather watch today.
00:26Got more on this detail.
00:28Plus, you may notice gas prices going up.
00:31What's behind this rise now?
00:33And Matthew McConaughey, Timothy Chalamet in a CNN town hall talking about how human actors can compete now with AI.
00:42This morning, nearly one and a half million people across the southwest are under a fire weather threat as wildfires
00:48have just been tearing across the plains.
00:50The largest fire has already burned almost 300,000 acres, and that's reaches from Oklahoma into Kansas.
00:58And at one point, this fire was burning some three to four football fields per second.
01:03And officials are warning this threat is clearly not yet over.
01:07CNN's Allison Chinchar is tracking that for us.
01:09And much more.
01:10What are you seeing with this threat today?
01:13All right, the winds, which is what helped to...
01:15Allison Chinchar, thank you so much.
01:17Really appreciate it.
01:20Sir?
01:21Just threat to order military strikes on Iran and kicking it up a notch, it seems, today.
01:26Oil prices seem to be feeling that threat already.
01:28They've jumped to the highest level in nearly six months.
01:32CNN's Matt Egan is tracking this one for us.
01:34He's here now.
01:35What are you seeing with this?
01:36Well, Kate, look, the oil market is certainly on edge right now.
01:40Investors are not freaking out.
01:42Past prices have been like a success story.
01:44They have been.
01:45More than a year ago, much lower than a year ago, below $3 a gallon.
01:48But, Kate, they have started to creep higher just over the past month by about 11 cents.
01:53And, look, that can't be lost on the president.
01:56He's already underwater when it comes to the economy and the cost of living.
02:00And it's hard to see how a full-blown energy crisis would help that, nor would it help the economy.
02:05I would say my guess is doesn't.
02:08Right.
02:08Thank you so much, Matt.
02:09I really appreciate it.
02:10Something very clearly we need to keep an eye on.
02:12Sarah?
02:13All right.
02:13Thank you, Kate.
02:14They just need to be our vibes for 2026.
02:17There are ways.
02:17Yeah.
02:18There are ways.
02:19We'll discuss later.
02:20There are ways.
02:21We will discuss later.
02:22All right.
02:22We'll discuss later.
02:24A crucial decision for veterans across the country.
02:27The VA just pulled back a controversial rule that it had put in place impacting disability pay.
02:33We've got more details on this one for you.
02:35And a battle is brewing over something that makes everyone happy.
02:39Not just Timothy Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey.
02:42Chocolate and peanut butter.
02:43Why the grandson of the inventor of Reese's peanut butter cups is calling out Hershey's.
02:49This is what feels like.
02:52Now, some of President Trump's midterm strategy rolling out.
02:56The White House deciding now a centerpiece of their pitch to voters is going to be health
03:00care.
03:00Trump promising a full overhaul of health care in America, looking for Congress to pull
03:05it off, though there's little appetite there to take it on.
03:07And remember, Republicans have struggled for more than a decade now to do this very thing.
03:11But still, here is President Trump's pitch just yesterday in Georgia.
03:16Person only saying, quote, further information will be shared as available.
03:20Joining me right now to discuss is former acting CDC director, Dr. Richard Besser.
03:24It's good to see you, Dr. Besser.
03:25Thanks for being in here, coming back on.
03:27A reminder, just obviously, you know, but to our viewers on what we're talking about with
03:32this committee, ACIP, that since the 60s, U.S.
03:36vaccine recommendations have first gone through this committee of independent advisors.
03:41It's historically a critical step when it comes to any vaccine changes, approvals in America.
03:48Several medical associations now are suing the administration to get to reverse recent
03:53changes that HHS has made and that to the childhood vaccine guidelines.
03:59And your organization is supporting that.
04:00When it was announced, you called it the word your worst nightmare.
04:03Have you seen an impact of that rollback on vaccine guidelines, or is it two British police
04:09still searching for one of former Prince Andrew's former still are still searching one
04:16of the former Prince Andrew's former homes?
04:18What's next in the investigation after this high profile arrest of a senior member of the
04:23British royal family?
04:24Much more to come here.
04:25And hundreds of thousands of acres burned as wildfires tear through Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas
04:31also under threat.
04:32Nearly 1.5 million people are facing fire weather watches right now.
04:37Plus, one woman's mission to honor veterans who dropped out of school to serve their country,
04:42how she's helping them now earn their high school diplomas.
04:47Andrew Mountbatten, Windsor, who was until last year Britain's Prince Andrew, is no longer
04:52in police custody.
04:53Just that statement in and of itself remains extraordinary.
04:57Today, police, though, are still searching one of his former homes, and he remains
05:01under investigation on, as they describe it, suspicion of misconduct in public office.
05:06So far, no charges have been filed against him.
05:09But let's get...
05:11Salma, thank you so much for all your reporting on this.
05:14Appreciate it.
05:15John?
05:16All right.
05:16The...
05:16And breaking moments ago, there's new data just in showing how economic growth is looking.
05:22Slowed sharply at the end of 2025.
05:24CNN's Matt Egan just ran in with all the details.
05:26What's happened here?
05:27Well, Kay, we were bracing for a slowdown, but this was a much bigger slowdown than we had.
05:32So GDP, the broadest measure of economic...
05:35Just about the shutdown, as we look at the trend here, for the last few years, really,
05:39of GDP...
05:40Could.
05:40Like the engine that wouldn't quit.
05:42Yes.
05:42Yes.
05:42And it hasn't quit.
05:43Right.
05:44But it has slowed down.
05:46Now, we don't know from this report who was doing that.
05:48The GDP figure.
05:49And you can see, coming in together, there's a lot of moving pieces in this economy.
05:53Government shut down.
05:54A lot of distortions caused by tariffs and trade.
05:57And consumer spending, and that's really the most important thing, consumer spending
06:00has slowed down.
06:02But with all the appropriate caveats, there's some lessons that need to be learned in this,
06:08for sure.
06:08And some messages that the White House is clearly going to be taking a close look at.
06:12Thanks so much, Matt.
06:13I really appreciate it.
06:14JB?
06:14You know, it's interesting, because after a couple readings that beat expectations,
06:17this one decidedly didn't.
06:19Right?
06:19This is much worse than people were expecting.
06:21Thank you very much.
06:22Right now, CNN Global Affairs analyst Brett McGurk.
06:25Brett, of course, served in senior national security posts under the last four presidents,
06:28including President Trump.
06:29I want to get to that question that John was posing, which is the why rationale, what is
06:33the endgame, in just a second.
06:35But in terms of just the calculation in this moment, you think both Donald Trump and the
06:40Ayatollah are miscalculating here.
06:42Why?
06:43So what comes next?
06:45That's one of many big questions now coming out of the U.K. this morning.
06:48After the extraordinary arrest of former Prince Andrew.
06:52The younger brother of King Charles is the first senior British royal to be arrested in
06:56nearly 400 years.
06:58Today, he remains under investigation by British police on suspicion of misconduct in public
07:04office.
07:05No charges have been filed up to this point.
07:08Police have not clarified what led to the arrest.
07:11But Andrew did serve as Britain's trade envoy for a decade, starting in 2001.
07:16And the latest batch of Jeffrey Epstein documents released by the U.S. Justice Department showed
07:21the extent to which Andrew was in contact with Epstein during that time.
07:25Seen as Mac Foster is outside Buckingham Palace with the very latest.
07:29Max, what are you learning today?
07:31And what are you hearing now?
07:35Now, splash over all of the U.K. tabloids.
07:38This will be an enduring image of this extraordinary moment of Andrew being arrested.
07:49Yeah, I mean...
07:49Thanks so much for jumping on.
07:51Really appreciate your reporting on this always.
07:53And your insight.
07:56Sarah?
07:56All right.
07:57Thank you, Kay.
07:58Also, here's new reporting.
08:00There is new reporting on the range of options that he's considering.
08:04The president's considering, according to sources...
08:06What about leasing with an option to buy?
08:08Rent home.
08:09Yeah, exactly.
08:10I'll rent you, John Berman.
08:12I'm rent stabilized.
08:13That sounds so weird.
08:14Thanks for joining us.
08:15This is CNN News Central.
08:16The Situation Room is up next.
