00:00She's tracking all of it. She's going to start us off this morning. Good morning, Dylan.
00:03Good morning, guys. We do have some heat, and if you've been waiting for a pattern like this,
00:07if you've been waiting for the warmer temperatures, here it is. The jet stream well up to the north,
00:12the area of high pressure just sweeping in those southerly winds, and that means we will see
00:16above-average temperatures, tying records, record-breaking temperatures as we go into
00:21the weekend. So today in New York, 89 degrees. We'll match that up into Albany. Pittsburgh,
00:2690 degrees for a high temperature. That's 12 degrees above average. If you want warmer,
00:30just wait till tomorrow. We're going to see even warmer highs make their way up into the
00:34northeast. Highs getting into the 90s. DC, about 94 degrees. Norfolk, Virginia, 96 degrees. So this
00:40is the heat. You want to limit your time outdoors during the middle of the day, maybe find an AC
00:45somewhere, maybe jump into a pool. We are going to see those really warm temperatures, but it doesn't
00:51come with all that much humidity. So a dry heat, I guess we can call it. It's not going to
00:55be
00:56stifling out there. Erie, Pennsylvania, will drop back down into the 70s for Sunday and Monday
01:00before we warm back into the mid-80s. As we go into Tuesday, Cincinnati stays on the hot side,
01:05mid to upper 80s. Philly, we go from 90 Sunday to 80 Monday, and the nice and comfortable 82 degrees
01:11for Tuesday. Now, we also have the chance of some isolated spots of severe storms tomorrow.
01:16In this area, from Ohio through Pennsylvania into New York and into parts of New England,
01:20we can see wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, some larger hail. Tornado risk is low,
01:24but still keep an eye out for some of those storms, guys. All right, Dylan, we'll come back
01:27to you in a little bit. Dylan, in for Al, what are we looking at now? Well, folks might be
01:31headed to
01:31the beach for the East Coast. We've got nice warm temperatures, upper 80s, lower 90s, up and down the
01:37East Coast with lots of sunshine. Some isolated severe storms possible across the Great Lakes.
01:41That flood risk continues down through Texas, where it will continue to rain at times, and the ground is
01:47saturated, so that could lead to some flooding. Out west, it is still sunny and dry, but that fire risk
01:52increases a bit breezy, too. That's a look at the weather across the country. We'll get to your
01:55local forecast in the next 30 seconds. And New Jersey's own Dylan Dreyer is back with another
02:01check of the very warm forecast. The pride of Jersey.
02:03Oh, apparently. Yeah, as we're playing like Bon Jovi, I don't think I'm the pride of New Jersey
02:08here. I feel like that'd be a good karaoke song for you. I don't know if I can. I can't
02:12do karaoke,
02:13period. But let's take a look at what's going on weather-wise. We've got some stormy weather back
02:18through the Midwest. You can see the heavier rain moving into northeastern Missouri out of Iowa and
02:24also moving into western Illinois. These storms are producing some heavier rain. You've got the
02:29cloud-to-ground lightning. You'll hear it. We may get some gusty winds out of it, too. And we are
02:33going to continue to see those move eastward as we continue through the day. So the best chance of
02:37seeing those gusty winds, the larger hair, will be back in this yellow area here. And then the East
02:42Coast, enjoy that beach day. We're looking at highs today up into the 90s. That's a look at the
02:46weather across the country. Now here's a peek out your window. She's in for Al for the very latest.
02:50How warm we talking? Well, it's going to feel like summer. We're looking at upper 80s, lower 90s. You
02:55know what? Not all that humid, though. So that'll make it feel a bit better. But we do have some
02:59air
03:00quality alerts scattered across the Midwest into the northeast, too. Those ozone levels are a little
03:05high. So if you do suffer from respiratory illnesses, you'll want to limit your time outdoors during the
03:09hottest part of the day. And it is going to be hot. We've got potential record-breaking heat from the
03:13mid-Atlantic right up into New England. Even back through Michigan, we could see some isolated
03:18tying or record-breaking high temperatures. As we look through the next couple of days,
03:22though, today, tomorrow, 88 degrees in Elmira in New York City, 89, 91. Boston even into the mid to
03:28upper 80s. Baltimore, lower 90s. And we'll continue that through Sunday in Baltimore and drop off a bit
03:33for Monday and Tuesday. In New York, we'll cool off a touch for Monday in the 70s. But we're right
03:37back
03:37into the lower 80s going into next week. Now, we do have a threat of some severe storms tomorrow,
03:42damaging wind gusts and larger hail, the biggest threats. But you'll also see the lightning and the
03:46heavier rain that comes with it. That extends from Ohio right up into parts of New England.
03:51Laura. All right, Dylan, thank you. Something special to mark America's 250th anniversary.
03:57Yeah, some of the planners behind this year's celebrations are assembling a time capsule that will
04:01be buried away for the next 250 years. Really cool idea. NBC's Emily Academy, she actually paid a visit
04:06to the lab where it's all happening. You even got to put something inside. Yes, I did. This was such
04:12a
04:12cool opportunity. And to see the behind that, right? Did you see that today, Chopin? That was on the
04:16metal there. So now a piece of the history. Yeah. I wish somebody did this 250 years ago. Yeah. So
04:22that
04:22we could open it up now. Well, and part of the problem is like, you dig it up and it's
04:26like
04:27destroyed. Like, it's like cardboard. And it gets you really excited once again for America's birthday.
04:32Yeah. 250. Every time I see one of those stories, I'm like, yeah, let's go. Let's go. Yeah. We're
04:36feeling amped up now. And before it's very gold metal. Gold metal. Honestly, someone said that to me.
04:41I'm like, I shouldn't put a friendship bracelet in. Yeah. Yeah. You know what? Next time,
04:44you're more than just Taylor Swift. Glad you did. Glad you did. Feels like the metal show in the
04:50comments section. I love it. Don't get me wrong. Metal, I don't know. Swifties, it's at Craig. Oh, no.
04:59Thank you, Em. Thanks, guys. How about a check of the weather? Yeah, I'll save you, Craig. We do have
05:03some beautiful weather. And that's your latest forecast. Healthy Friday pop star. You guys ready?
05:08No. Well, let's just get every album after this because this is, you know, new country going on there.
05:12Yeah. Stick with it. By the way, Shabuzzi's coming to pause in about 10 minutes. Next up,
05:17Taraji P. Henspot. That'll be a good, good conversation there. Next up. Messages that we
05:21could not share on morning television. Oh, I know. That were pretty funny. Yeah. You're so mean to
05:26Elmo. All right. Knicks fans, man. No, it doesn't matter. It does not matter. Next up,
05:30Catherine Hanley, Emmy. Reese's Pieces. Reese's Pieces. I think a lot of us do. In a way,
05:35they're delicious. Reese's, by the way, has Reese's. That's crazy. Elmo also weighed in with a middle finger.
05:42I just wish we had some Reese's, whatever they're called, right here in front of us. Reese's Pieces.
05:47Reese's Pieces. Reese's. Reese's. Are you tripping on Reese's or Pieces? Reese's. I don't know now. I
05:54don't even know which one it is. This should be a shit. You say pecan or pecan? Pecan. Okay. Let's
05:59just leave it at that. Finally got on the weekend. Enjoy that conversation. That'll do it, guys,
06:04a pop star. What do you say? Lizzo's about to get the show started. True. Different skill set. Yeah.
06:10And guys, she's not done yet. Lizzo's coming back with one more song. Thanks for saving my favorite
06:14for the third hour. And she's going to join us live in Studio 1A in a little bit, too. Yes.
06:19Lots to
06:20talk to Lizzo about. By the way, as Dylan just mentioned, could not have asked for better weather
06:24for a summer concert. Not going to last, though, maybe for a lot of folks. Well, I mean, we get
06:29the
06:29summertime storms, right? Like when it's hot, you do tend to get those storms. Now, air quality is also
06:34going to be an issue. When we're talking about temperatures up around 90 degrees, we do see the
06:38high ozone levels. So if you do suffer from any respiratory illnesses, you want to limit your time
06:43outside during that 11 a.m. to like 3, 4 p.m. time frame just because it could exacerbate some
06:48of
06:48those conditions you have. So here's the setup. We've got the jet stream way up to the north. We've got
06:53a
06:53big old area of high pressure that's just pumping in those southerly winds. Record high temperatures are
06:58likely across parts of the northeast. We're looking for highs about 10 to 15, nearly 20 degrees above
07:03average. We're well up into the upper 80s, lower 90s, into New England, back through the mid-Atlantic.
07:09And as we go into tomorrow, we're going to see that weather continue to stick around. 91 for a high
07:14in New York tomorrow. 94 in D.C. Charleston, West Virginia, about 89 degrees. Again, these temperatures
07:19well above average. Just want to point out, though, that we don't have a lot of high humidity. So while
07:24it
07:24will be hot, it's not going to be exceptionally uncomfortable. And then in Portland, Maine,
07:29we'll drop down into the 60s by the time we get into Monday. Philly cools off Monday with a high
07:33of about 80 degrees. So while it will be hot this weekend, it will begin to cool off a little
07:37bit.
07:38We do have that chance of severe storms tomorrow, too. Just want to point that out if you are planning
07:42anything outdoors tomorrow with all that sunshine. We do expect some isolated, stronger storms tomorrow.
07:49Wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. We could get hail about an inch or more in diameter. Really
07:53low
07:53tornado threat. But still, keep an eye out for that cloud-to-ground lightning. We could certainly
07:57see that as an issue as we go into tomorrow afternoon as well. So we are certainly going
08:03to keep a close eye on all of that. This floor is a little slippery. It's new shoes and slippery
08:07floor. Bad combination. You guys have been moving around a lot this morning already. Up the concert
08:11stage, back into the studio. Still for a bit. There we go. There we go. Well, and now to a
08:16new chapter
08:16in a case that captivated the nation. This morning, we're shifting gears a bit on today's
08:20checklist. Talking about summer sleep routines and how to feel more rested during these busy
08:25months. Then later, too. Sleep solutions for these summer months, especially. Longer days,
08:31hot weather, kids from home, kids home from school. All of that impacts our rest, especially.
08:36Here today. So what is it about summer that makes us not be able to sleep? Lots of travel,
08:42less consistent routines, warmer temperatures, and more light exposure at night. School lets out.
08:47Kids, teenagers, their schedule. These little vampires in the summer because their schedules
08:51will shift later and later because they don't have the early school alarm clock to wake them up,
08:56and they're also getting a lot of light during the summer, but do set some guardrails.
09:01They're not waking until noon, and they make brutality of the adjustment back to school.
09:05Brutality of it. One of the things that we hold after dinner, Dad.
09:08Our jobs are not seasonal. No. Another thing that, you know, I, I, how do you, how do you fight
09:14that? It's really difficult, and you're not alone. We, as human beings, sleep better in cooler
09:18temperatures, so it can be very hard when the temperatures go up, when it's also humid. Our sleep
09:24becomes shorter, lighter, and more fragmented. Otherwise, use fans. 65 to 60. Like this room right
09:29now. It's quite cool in here right now. Yeah. A warm shower or bath about an hour or two before
09:36bedtime, uh, somewhat paradoxically. My kids normally go to bed about 8, 8.30. It's very difficult
09:42to explain that it's bedtime at 8.30 when the sun is still out. When the sun is bright. Yes.
09:46Use, um, sunglasses if you're outside. Also, put down the shades in the house or use drapes. I find
09:51it myself. Your bedtime, because for most of us, our jobs, like I said, aren't. Thank you so much.
09:57All right. Be sure to check out Wendy's expert tip of the day on today.com, where she reveals
10:01how she refreshes her own bed for the summer. Oh, that's good. And when we come back to very,
10:06our next guests have been teaming up on screen for decades. Bob Oden reuniting for a new project
10:12called Bob and David Climb Machu Picchu. Yeah. A documentary about their 2024 trip up the Inca
10:18trail. Morning to both of you. Spoiler alert. And, uh, four feet. And, uh, it's all.
10:24You didn't? What? What's he doing? I got to our first camp. We got to our first camp.
10:29His pillow. There was a pillow enhancement. But yeah, all that matters is Yolo. I got us waylaid,
10:34but in his favorite moment was this mountain chorus part. And that beautiful, that gorgeous,
10:41humongous mountain was really years ago with a friend of mine. Oh, they didn't have the mountain
10:46then. Does that make it even more special? Sure. We do more. Yeah. What's the, what would be the
10:51next? It's the journey that takes you the set. So the pillow doesn't even come into play.
10:59You don't need. It's all. You got to go in the winter. We love when you guys are here. Thank
11:03you
11:03so much. Until Al, I'm sorry. You know, he, well, you know, he got a lot. Yeah. And if you
11:08want more
11:08of this comedy, Bob and David Climb Machu Picchu debuts at the Tribeca Film Festival tomorrow.
11:14All right. Still to come this morning. Look who's joining us for everything this morning. First of all,
11:18here's to work on the album and really make sure that the music is great. Yeah. I wish we could
11:23say the
11:23name of the album, but we can, but you've always through your music, encouraged people to celebrate
11:28confidence here on this, find that confidence and exuded in the way that you do. And it's just like,
11:33Oh my gosh, it can get to your headache. I gotta ask you about the legal issues here really quickly.
11:39Continuing to fight. I'm his book too. He has a picture book. Yeah. Thank you for your generosity
11:45and your graciousness this morning. Again, that new album is out today, but do not go anywhere.
11:51Up next, we're going to get a little taste of the new album when Lizzo performs one of her newest
11:56hits
11:56when the third hour. Before we go, Father's Day is coming up. So our Shop Today team made it easy
12:02to find the perfect gift with the limited edition must-haves for him. Okay. So it is packed with
12:07nine items, tech tools, even skincare. Skincare. I mean, Craig would be all in. The whole box is just
