00:04What does this mean for the war? What does this mean for oil markets?
00:09Overnight, Tewks.
00:10All right, let's get to the breaking news this morning in the war with Iran.
00:13New strikes, new video from the escalating showdown in the Strait of Hormuz.
00:17CENTCOM is now releasing these images that we're showing right here,
00:20saying the U.S. forces have destroyed 16 mine-laying ships in that vital shipping channel.
00:28Remember, nearly 20 million barrels of fuel a day move through the Strait of Hormuz.
00:34And breaking Iran is now saying that it's launching its most intense and heaviest operations since this war began.
00:41Sources now telling CNN a suspected Iranian drone struck a major U.S. diplomatic facility in Iraq.
00:48Also overnight, new images of damage in Tehran.
00:52Take a look here as the Israeli military launches its own waves of strikes on that capital city.
00:58Our CNN team inside Iran is reporting major air raids lasting nearly an hour.
01:05We've got much more from Abu Dhabi.
01:06Paula, telling me what's the very latest that you're hearing and seeing moves through that Strait as well.
01:12Paula, thank you so much.
01:13Much more to come.
01:14John?
01:14Yeah, before this late...
01:15We're going from severe snowstorms immediately into these crazy tornadoes.
01:19My goodness.
01:20Coming up for us, gas prices surged 60 cents since the start of the Iran war.
01:25Why?
01:25There are warnings now.
01:27It could be months before prices come back down.
01:31And it's being called the biggest upset in the history of the world baseball classic.
01:35Italy stunning the U.S.
01:40The breaking news this morning.
01:41New attacks, and this time right in the Strait of Hormuz, are causing oil prices to spike once again.
01:47CENTCOM released these images saying that the U.S., that U.S. forces have now destroyed 16 mine-laying ships
01:54in that vital waterway.
01:56At least three vessels have reportedly now been struck by unknown projectiles in the area.
02:00And remember, some 20 million barrels of fuel a day move through the Strait.
02:05It comes as Iran says it has launched its most intense operation since the war began.
02:11And sources tell CNN a suspected drone, Iranian drone rather, struck a major U.S. diplomatic facility in Iraq.
02:19The Pentagon says 140 U.S. service members have now been wounded in this war effort, and seven U.S.
02:26service members have been killed.
02:28The costs.
02:29Reporting, let's get to Zach Cohen.
02:30Now he's working his sources on the very latest.
02:32Zach, what are your sources telling you?
02:33What are you hearing about these attacks now in the Strait of Hormuz, and what the administration is going to
02:42do about it?
02:43Yeah, Kay, maintaining control of the...
02:45And also, as that soldier's describing, they had no warning ahead of that drone coming in, that's for sure.
02:53Zach, thank you so much.
02:54Orrin Lieberman, as always, appreciate it.
02:56Sarah, surveillance video now coming in of one of the two terror suspects accused of throwing homemade explosives during a
03:04protest near the New York City mayor's official residence.
03:08The surveillance video is from a firework store in Pennsylvania, and what it shows is 18-year-old Amir Balat
03:15buying a 20-foot-long safety fuse typically used to set off fireworks.
03:20Now, this was just days before he tried, along with another man, and is accused of trying to carry out
03:27what police say was an attempted terror attack inspired by ISIS.
03:31That Pennsylvania store provided the video at the request of the FBI.
03:35The two men face charges of providing material support to a terrorist organization and using a weapon of mass destruction.
03:44Also, the race to replace former Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is not over yet, but it is down to
03:51two in the special election for Georgia's 14th Congressional District.
03:55Republican Clay Fuller and Democrat Sean Harris, they now head to a runoff scheduled for April 7th.
04:01The weather winds will serve out the remainder of MTG's term, which ends in January.
04:07Just into CNN, new images near the Strait of Hormuz off Iran, where new attacks are now sending oil prices
04:14on another wild ride today.
04:17This is a Thai-flagged ship, one of at least three vessels that have been struck today in that critical
04:23waterway.
04:24Thailand's Ministry of Transport says 20 crew members have been rescued, three, though, remain unaccounted for.
04:30We're going to Cox live in Abu Dhabi for the latest on this.
04:33What are you hearing here?
04:36Clearly, Paula Hancox, thank you so much, Paula, for bringing us all of those new headlines.
04:39I really appreciate it.
04:40John, parts of the United States cleaning up this morning after deadly and truly devastating storms.
04:47Some areas seeing just giant hail, shattering car windows, and really devastating tornado aftermath.
04:53Plus, a traffic stop leading an officer to a teenager who had been missing for weeks.
05:00So, this morning, we've now confirmed that two people are dead after the violent storms tore through central portions of
05:08the United States overnight.
05:09Officials confirmed that the two were killed and several others were injured after a tornado struck in northwest Indiana.
05:16The storms unleashed baseball-sized hail, and even bigger in some places, and also brought about tornadoes reaching from Texas
05:25to the Great Lakes.
05:26It was a huge storm system, including, we're showing here, this one.
05:29It was captured on the ground near Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
05:33At least 10 tornadoes were reported across three states.
05:36Homes leveled, some people trapped inside, widespread damage and power outages.
05:41The storm threat remains as now it's moving east.
05:45Let's get to Derek Van Dam.
05:46Derek, what are you watching for now today?
05:50Absolutely.
05:51All right, Derek, and that threat continues today as this now moves east.
05:54I really appreciate it.
05:55John, speaking moments ago, there's new data in showing that inflation held steady last month as consumers are now bracing
06:02for more higher prices.
06:04As the war with Iran continues, it's bringing CNN's Vanessa Arkevich for much more on this.
06:08And again, this is backward-looking, so not including some of the prices, especially when it comes to gas, they've
06:14just seen jump this week.
06:15Right.
06:16Unfortunately, this report signals on a monthly basis of 0.4%.
06:20We saw prices rise at the growth for gas prices.
06:25I think that's a great way of putting it because so much is changing so quickly that we're going to
06:29see where we are next month.
06:31It's great to see you, Vanessa.
06:32Thank you so much for coming on with that breaking news.
06:34Sarah?
06:35Still had for us.
06:36A man is pinned under his car in the middle of trying to fix it, and there's video now coming
06:41in of the rescue to help him.
06:43And Tilly Norwood, remember, the AI-generated actress and singer, has now, well, that AI has now released a new
06:51song about her human side.
06:56So is regime change in Iran an end goal for the Trump administration?
07:00As of this morning, that still remains an open question.
07:03That is because President Trump has indicated both things at various points, that he is not trying for regime change,
07:10but also that he must have personal sign-off on whoever is Iran's leader.
07:15And messaging from the White House on this still has not gotten any more clear.
07:22Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, after a classified briefing yesterday, came out and said many things, including, though, this,
07:28posting to social media that they, the briefers, confirmed regime change is also not on the list, he means, of
07:35end goals here.
07:36This brings us to the so-called smart bomb trap, kind of an illusion, and a series of history-based
07:44facts looking forward, coming from political scientist Robert Pape on this.
07:50Professor Pape joins us now to talk more about this.
07:52Thanks for coming in.
07:53Your take on this has been very, very interesting, but let's start here.
07:57You say that the United States is now entering the most dangerous phase in this military campaign so far.
08:02Explain why.
08:04All right, the breaking news this morning.
08:06The Strait of Hormuz, multiple commercial vessels have now come under attack.
08:10This morning, we're going to show you images from a Thai-flagged ship right there.
08:15Look at that huge ship and look at that smoke.
08:17One of at least three vessels struck by what they're still calling unknown projectiles in or near that critical waterway.
08:24Thailand's Ministry of Transport says 20 crew members have been rescued, but three remain unaccounted for.
08:31Also in a round of strikes, new spikes in oil prices.
08:35This also just coming in, a new update from U.S. Central Command, the CENTCOM commander,
08:39saying last night an American bomber force hit a ballistic missile manufacturing facility in Iran.
08:45Also that the last of Iran's four Soleimani-class warships have been taken out.
08:51And right now, he says they are turning their focus to Hormuz.
08:57CNN's team's position.
08:59Fred, thank you so much.
09:01It's unbelievable the reporting he's been able to bring out from Iran.
09:04Now, let's go to Tel Aviv right now.
09:06That is where Oren Lieberman is standing by for more on all that has developed in just the last 24
09:11hours.
09:11Oren, what's the latest you're hearing?
09:14Absolutely.
09:15Oren, thank you so much for your reporting, as always.
09:17Let's talk more about that and the focus of where the administration is right now.
09:21Elena Treen at the White House.
09:22Elena, what are you picking up this morning?
09:25Yeah, look, I think...
09:26Really appreciate it.
09:27Sarah.
09:28So this morning, we've now learned that two people have been killed after violent storms ripped through the central part
09:34of the United States overnight.
09:36Officials confirm that the deaths occurred after a tornado hit in northwest Indiana.
09:41The storms are now moving east after unleashing at least 10 tornadoes across three states.
09:46Show you a driver capturing a scary scene on a road near Chicago.
09:50Just look at that.
09:51Look at that person outside.
09:52Oh, that's terrifying.
09:54Let's get over to CNN's Derek Van Dam now for the latest on what we've seen and where this is
09:58headed, Derek.
09:59Sorry, today, yet again.
10:00Thank you so much, Derek.
10:01I really appreciate it.
10:02John?
10:02So there's new video in showing the moment.
10:04Two brothers jump in to rescue a man trapped inside a burning car.
10:09We're going to bring you more on that story.
10:11And you may have thought you'd never see one of these old things again.
10:14How this payphone, though, is now serving a new and special purpose.
10:21The Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo has a whole lot to be celebrating right now and a win over the Washington
10:28Wizards.
10:29He finished off the game Tuesday night with a staggering number of points.
10:3283 points.
10:34Only one player in the history of the NBA has scored more points in one game than this.
10:39That is Will Chamberlain.
10:41And he still holds the NBA record with a 100-point game from back in 1962.
10:48Sarah?
10:49What a wonderful message that is.
10:51Thank you all so much for joining us.
10:52This has been CNN News Central.
10:53The Situation Room's up next.
