00:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to, that's right, the Pitch Studio.
00:05Le Pitch Studio, that's right, the one place, not just the one place, but I like to call it the
00:10one place here,
00:12the greatest resource of VivaTech 2022.
00:15This is really all about what? It's all about ideas, it's all about innovation,
00:20it's all about sharing ideas on this stage to help you feel curious,
00:25to help you start a conversation with the people that are sharing their messages here on stage right now.
00:31Already this morning, what have we gone through already?
00:34We've enjoyed, we were delighted with so many different accelerators, global, 16 global accelerators,
00:43two minutes sharing with you why you as a startup or investor should be on board with them as an
00:50accelerator.
00:51Then we've just listened to 32 big ideas here on stage, 32 startups, again, 32 startups from those global accelerators.
01:01Again, two minutes helping or trying to persuade you to have that same wavelength of thinking,
01:08and again, curiosity and starting a conversation as well.
01:11Right now, what's left? Right now, it's the turn of the investor.
01:16So we have no less than 15 investors standing on this stage, up to two minutes to share with you
01:24what they're looking for,
01:26and also trying to find the right match as well.
01:29As a startup, naturally, as a startup, naturally, you don't just accept, well, you shouldn't accept investment from anybody.
01:36Again, it's the same thing naturally for the investors as well.
01:40Really trying to find the right match and the right fit also.
01:44So we're going to go through 15 big, not 15 necessarily big, but 15 investors standing on the stage, two
01:51minutes, they leave, and then we move on.
01:53So it's fast, it's furious, it's going to be short and sweet, and we're ready.
01:58I think we're ready.
01:59Hopefully, we're ready for the very first investor.
02:02I'm intrigued as much as you are really to hear what they have to say,
02:06and hopefully, again, have this curiosity and start a conversation.
02:10Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the first investor to hit the stage, and that very simply is Binance.
02:25Hello, how are you today?
02:29Really nice to meet you.
02:30So I'm Alexei from Binance Labs, and so I represent the investment arm of Binance.
02:35We're the leading blockchain and Web3 company.
02:39And so we invest in blockchain-related companies through two programs.
02:45We have an incubation program for very early-stage startups that invest at pre-seed stage.
02:52They're currently running over there on our booth, and I would invite you to go and speak to them.
02:56And we also invest through our VC program to seed and later-stage companies.
03:03So we're a 15-investor team, so we're not that big, but we have very large ambitions for our ecosystems.
03:10And we would love to see you guys on our booth.
03:13It's just over there by the entrance.
03:17And, you know, feel free to look a bit more at our projects.
03:21We've invested in leading projects on the blockchain space, like Polygon, Dune Analytics, and Axie Infinity.
03:27So, you know, if you're a blockchain startup and you'd like to swing by, we would love to see you
03:32and meet you on our booth over there.
03:34Thank you very much.
03:36That's the way off the stage, absolutely.
03:38There we are, Binance, sharing there.
03:40Big idea.
03:40And right here, those of you online, wherever you are, maybe you can't feel this or maybe you can't hear
03:46this.
03:46But right now, here, right in the heart of Viva Tech, it's overflowing with people.
03:51It's packed.
03:52And in the background, we can all hear a very loud brass band playing.
03:57I'm not quite sure who's here, but if it's going to be a question of being loud, we're going to
04:03make it.
04:03We're going to do that competition right now.
04:06Is it getting louder?
04:08It feels like it's getting louder.
04:09It's okay.
04:10It's fine, because we can be loud as well, can't we?
04:12Ladies and gentlemen, we are going to be loud right now against this brass band.
04:16Three, two, one, cheer.
04:22I'm sure the brass band are thinking, oh, my God, we've got a competition for noise.
04:27If they come past, we're going to be louder.
04:29Ladies and gentlemen, we move on now to the next investor ready to share their idea or ready to try
04:38to persuade you
04:39to talk to them to see what can unfold.
04:42Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Bold L'Oréal.
05:13Hi, everyone.
05:14We're going to be here for over 100 years.
05:16Our mission is to look at the wider beauty ecosystem and to seize what's next.
05:22How do we do this?
05:23We invest in brands, we invest in augmented beauty, we invest in biotech and green science, and we invest in
05:31tech enablers.
05:32The startups that we work with, we learn tremendously from them, and in return, they receive the access, mentorship, and
05:41beauty expertise that only L'Oréal can offer.
05:44To see one example of what we do, I invite you to please visit the L'Oréal stand at VivaTech.
05:50We're right in the middle.
05:51And to see one of our Swiss startups, Gyoza, which has developed a special shower head that uses 60%
05:57less water than a standard shower head
05:59with no compromise on performance for the salon and for the home.
06:04We're so proud of them, and they represent not only our values for the planet, but also our commitment to
06:10excellence.
06:10One thing I want to highlight for you today is one of our more recent initiatives, Bold Female Founders, which
06:17we just announced and just launched
06:19with an initial 25 million euro allocation for female founders.
06:23So if you know any female startupers, please invite them to check out that opportunity.
06:28And finally, on the theme of inclusivity and equality and openness, I want to remind you that Bold's application portal
06:35is open to anyone.
06:37Come find us, L'OréalBoldVentures.com.
06:39We're so excited to hear from you.
06:42Thanks.
06:43That way.
06:46Fabulous.
06:47Absolutely.
06:47A bold, bold pitch from Bold L'Oréal.
06:51As you just heard, you can find the booth right, I guess, right in the middle here in the heart
06:57of VivaTech 2022.
06:59We move on.
07:00Again, if you've just joined us, you're wondering what on earth is this?
07:04You might have just come from the band playing Besame Mucho.
07:08We're not going to give you kisses here.
07:10But what we will give you, hopefully, is we might give you, I don't know, the guys here on the
07:15front, I don't know, you look, you say, look like, well, I don't know.
07:17You might be giving out the kisses today.
07:19I don't know who will be doing that.
07:20But what we're doing here on stage is sharing ideas and investors, a reverse pitch, investors telling you or sharing
07:30with you why you should get together and start those conversations and move forward.
07:35Let's move forward to the next investor, which is very simply Bing Ventures.
07:46Hi, everyone, and that's Bring Ventures, actually.
07:50Thank you very much.
07:51My name is Leslie, and we're here from Bring Ventures today.
07:54Bring Ventures is the ventures investment arm of the Norway Post Group, one of the largest postal and logistic actors
08:02in the Nordics.
08:03We are an early-stage investor who is strategic in value-adding, focusing on log tech, e-commerce, marketplaces, omni
08:13tech, and the like, basically innovative and disruptive business models and technology for the retail value chain.
08:20With 375 years of experience in the logistics industry, we have a broad net of network, of infrastructure, customers, and
08:28partners that we seek to leverage on behalf of our startups.
08:31In addition, we enthusiastically encourage our startups to pilot and deploy their technology within our network to gain real-life
08:41enterprise-scale insights and data points, being able to see, identify, and solve stress points at a faster rate.
08:50Also, we leverage our customer and partner base and get you in touch with them so that we increase your
08:56visibility and adoption, creating collaborative and innovative relationships for internal and external partnerships.
09:04We were formed in 2021.
09:06We currently have nine portfolio companies under management, and three of them are already deployed pilots with us.
09:14We're hoping that maybe here in Paris at VivaTech, we'll have our next investment.
09:20So I'm hoping you'll be reaching out to myself, Leslie, or one of my colleagues, Anthony and Alexander here today.
09:27Have a wave, guys.
09:29If not for you digital participants, please reach out to us.
09:34Our email is venturesatbring.com.
09:37Thank you very much for your time.
09:39There we have it.
09:41Bring Ventures, not Bing Ventures.
09:43Did you hear that?
09:44It's actually Bring Ventures.
09:45Thank you very much.
09:46Absolutely.
09:46I do apologize.
09:47But again, easiest way.
09:49This gentleman here, part of Bring Ventures.
09:51This gentleman here, part of Bring Ventures.
09:53Have a conversation and see where those conversations actually unfold.
09:57We move on now to our next investor.
10:00Our next investor is Cathay.
10:04Cathay.
10:05Cathay.
10:06Cathay.
10:07Cathay.
10:14I'm not Cathay.
10:16Clearly not here.
10:17That's fine.
10:17Absolutely.
10:18Oh.
10:19On time.
10:21Light the planes.
10:22Hi, everyone.
10:23Sorry.
10:25Hi.
10:25So I'm a partner at Cathay Innovation.
10:28We were founded six years ago, and we're currently managing $1.5 billion.
10:33We're a global venture firm.
10:35We're investing in Europe, North America, and Asia.
10:38And we also have investment activities in Africa and Latin America.
10:43We mostly invest in Series A and Series B company that are at the inflection point and
10:48that are looking to take regional or global leadership.
10:52We have four main verticals focus.
10:54First one is digital health.
10:56The second one is fintech and insurtech.
10:58The third one is future of retail.
11:00And the last one is industry 4.0 and energy transition.
11:05And we typically, you know, had the luck of supporting great companies in the past.
11:10In China, we invested in Pinduoduo Series A, which is now the second largest e-commerce
11:15platform in China.
11:16In the U.S., we led the Series B of Chime Bank, which is now the largest retail bank digital
11:23in the U.S.
11:24And in Europe, especially in France, we had the chance to support Ledger and Hawkin, among
11:29others.
11:30And with Ledger, we recently announced a new partnership.
11:33We just launched a 100 million euro Web3 fund that is currently starting to invest.
11:39And so, also, if you have Web3 related projects, we're super happy to have a look at them.
11:45But overall, myself, I focus on the consumer and future retail opportunities.
11:49And so, very happy to hear any ideas or opportunities you have.
11:53Again, mostly focusing on Series A and Series B stage companies.
11:57Thank you, everyone.
12:00Fantastic.
12:01That way off the stage.
12:02Thank you so much.
12:03There we are.
12:03Cathay, keep going.
12:04It's okay.
12:06Short delay.
12:08But made it on time at the end.
12:10Right.
12:10Again, if you just joined us, remember, what is this here?
12:14What on earth is happening here?
12:15This is the Pitch Studio.
12:17Obviously, it's all about sharing big ideas, fresh ideas from not just startups, but as you
12:22can see in here, investors as well.
12:25Investors, up to two minutes, very short and sweet, sharing with you why you should stick
12:31with them, why you should have a conversation, and why you should maybe get together and make
12:35some magical beauty together.
12:38We move on to the next investor.
12:40Please welcome 8Roads Venture.
12:47Hi, everyone.
12:49Great to be here.
12:49I'm part of 8Roads.
12:518Roads, we are a global fund.
12:53So, we were founded in the US about 50 years ago now, and then expanded to Europe and Asia
12:58about 20 years ago.
12:59So, I'm part of the European team.
13:01We're all based in London, but we invest across Europe and Israel, and we're three French
13:06people, so we actually cover France quite a lot as well.
13:09We invest only in scallops.
13:12So, scallops for us, it's companies that have quite a clear product market fit with some
13:18revenues, some customers, and the question is more around how to accelerate on the go-to-market
13:24form.
13:26So, all of that translates into investment tickets somewhere around 10 to 30 million
13:30euros across Series A, Series B, and Series C, mostly as lead or co-lead investor.
13:37We invest both in B2C and in B2B across enterprise software, consumer, fintech, and health tech.
13:45Our global portfolio includes companies such as Spandesk in France, LeoCare, Riviere,
13:53Fairblocks, and Alibaba in China.
13:56I'd love to have a chat, so feel free to reach out and enjoy the conference.
14:00Thank you.
14:02Fantastic.
14:03Thank you so much.
14:03Just heard it.
14:04Love to have a chat.
14:05That's exactly what everybody here on stage wants to do.
14:12Share their messages.
14:13Help you feel curious.
14:14Start a chat and see where things unfold and develop.
14:17We move on now with, again, remember, 15 global investors sharing their pitch, their reverse
14:25pitch to you to convince you that they're the right match for you as a startup or somebody
14:31certainly within the industry as well.
14:33Moving on now to our next investor, Eurasio.
14:51Eurasio is a big private equity firm listed on Euronext, and I'm part of the VCM of Eurasio.
15:00We have 7 billion euros of assets in the management for tech, and that makes us one of the most
15:05active investors in Europe.
15:08We've been in the market for the last 20 years, one of the pioneers in the space, investing
15:13in Coyteo, Metig in France, and then we're expanding in Europe, in the US, and in Asia.
15:19Among the companies that we are investors in, we have Doctolib, the French health tech
15:24company, Mano Mano, WeFox, Swile, Glovo, Peacon, or Malt.
15:31We invest from seed, really early stage, five people in the company, to growth stage.
15:37So tickets from 200k to 200 million euros across sectors.
15:42So from fintech to mobility, from crypto to sustainability, quite broad scope.
15:49What we can bring you first is international expansion.
15:52We have offices all around the world, especially in Asia, and we can connect you with potential
15:56customers, investors, and partners there.
16:00And second, we have many exciting projects in the pipe.
16:03One crypto fund, one smart city fund to invest in climate tech projects and sustainability,
16:10and a fund focused on agriculture and food tech.
16:13So we have more investment coming.
16:15We continue investing despite the ups and downs on the market.
16:18So feel free to reach out.
16:22That way off the stage.
16:23Turn around that way.
16:24That's right.
16:26Wonderful.
16:27There we are again.
16:2915 investors.
16:3015 investors on this stage.
16:32Up to two minutes.
16:33Short and sweet.
16:34Fast and furious.
16:36Sharing with you why you should get together.
16:38Why you should work together.
16:39Why you should collaborate together as well.
16:41And the great thing about this is, as well, not just for everybody physically here at VivaTech,
16:47the benefits clearly of actually meeting and having conversations.
16:50But naturally, those who are watching this at home, right, or work or home, wherever you are,
16:54on the beach, digital nomad, in a bar, whatever, this is recorded.
16:58So in the future, you can watch back at all these investors and take your pick and reach out naturally
17:04over LinkedIn and start the conversations there.
17:08Moving on.
17:09Next investor.
17:10Simply.
17:14Corellia Capital.
17:26Hello.
17:27Hi, everyone.
17:29I'm Griffin from Corellia Capital.
17:31So we're a fund that was founded in 2016 with LPs from Japan and South Korea.
17:39We've invested in late stage and late stage venture or early growth.
17:45So Series B, Series C, and beyond.
17:47We invest tickets in all sectors related to tech.
17:51Tickets of 8 to 15 million, typically.
17:54We've invested in the likes of Bolt, Ledger, Glovo, Vestia Collective.
18:01We have offices in London, Paris, Seoul, and Singapore.
18:06We bring a specific Asian angle to our portfolio companies,
18:12helping them with anything from go-to-market strategy, supply chain issues, especially recently,
18:19and hiring and acquiring talent.
18:23What else can I say?
18:25We have specific startup support teams across Asia for those who are looking to expand and find new ideas.
18:33Please feel free to reach out if you have any capital needs at Series B and beyond,
18:39and if it makes sense.
18:41Thank you very much.
18:45There we are.
18:45There we are.
18:46I'm sure it does make sense.
18:47We'll find out.
18:48Well, you'll find out.
18:49Have a chat with this gentleman and find out where hopefully that conversation leads to as well.
18:54As you can hear, we did it.
18:56The band, Besame Mucho.
18:57There's no more Besame Mucho at all.
19:00It's just here with us together, and the crowd seems like it's getting bigger.
19:04It's overflowing because I can imagine you're all intrigued to hear these investor pitches,
19:10investors sharing with you up to two minutes, short and sweet, why you should collaborate together.
19:17Our next investor is Iris Capital.
19:30Hello, everyone.
19:31That's quite an impressive crowd.
19:32So how many of you do tech platforms or intend to develop a tech platform?
19:38All right.
19:39How many of you do that in Europe?
19:41All right.
19:42How many of you intend to have either seed or early stage or late stage growth financing?
19:49All right.
19:50So pretty much like Shift Technology, Exotech in the robotic space, LeanIX, Staffbase, J-Docs, and many others.
19:59We are Iris Capital.
20:00We're a European fund managing around 800 million euros.
20:04We invest in seed, series A, late stage and growth stages in Europe, mostly in France and Germany when you're
20:10young
20:11because we like to be close to you, and then throughout Europe.
20:14We focus on strong tech assets, strong tech platforms able to verticalize inter-tech, robotic space,
20:23software that develops commonality of data, for example, of course, FinTech, of course, Web3 and so on.
20:30We don't care so much about the technology as much as your skills, your knowledge in the space you develop
20:38a company in,
20:38and which we can accompany from seed to IPO.
20:42We've had about 10 unicorns over the past 10 years.
20:45We've had IPOs.
20:46We've had companies changing their space.
20:49BI with talent.
20:52Treasury, SaaS management with Kiriba.
20:54We're looking for the next ones.
20:56We invest in early stage seed, on one hand, France, Germany, tickets from 1 to 10 million euros,
21:03late stage and growth, Series Bs and beyond, France, Germany, Europe, tickets up to 30, 40, 50 million.
21:10We're based in Paris, Munich, Berlin.
21:12You can find us there.
21:13You have a good day.
21:14Bye.
21:16Fantastic.
21:16Fantastic.
21:17You can find us there, Paris, Berlin, all over.
21:20But hey, if they want to find you here, where do they find you here?
21:23If they want to find you here, how do they chat with you?
21:25They don't have to go to Berlin or around Paris.
21:28You're right here.
21:29Okay.
21:30Hopefully you have.
21:31Okay.
21:31Right.
21:32He's right here.
21:32You can find him.
21:34It's easy amongst the thousands of people here at Viva Tech 22.
21:37Right.
21:38We move on to our next investor.
21:41Remember, investor pitches sharing their big idea here.
21:44Well, not necessarily a big idea, but how to persuade you, convince you that working with them,
21:50collaborating with them, is the right choice for you.
21:54We move on.
21:55Next investor, Notion Capital.
22:06Have you heard of GoCarless, CurrencyCloud, Ulife, TestGorilla, or AppVest, which is today
22:16in the media, they just raised 40 million.
22:18All of those are our portfolio companies.
22:21My name is Ichazo, and I am a partner at Notion Capital.
22:26We are not related to the No Taking app.
22:29We are an investor.
22:31We just have the same name.
22:33And we are investing in B2B SaaS businesses across Europe.
22:37We've been, in fact, pioneering the B2B SaaS investments in Europe.
22:41Since 2009, we've invested in more than 200 companies in SaaS applications, developer tools,
22:50Internet of Things, big data.
22:52We are not sector-focused, but we've been very successful in areas like fintech infrastructure
22:59and applications, as well as cybersecurity.
23:03Personally, I joined the team three years ago, and I'm probably the one who is more product-focused.
23:10I get very excited with founders who want to discuss product roadmaps and how to make their
23:20users and customers very happy by giving them the best user experience.
23:27So if you want to talk SaaS, if you want to talk product, if you want to talk product-led
23:32growth, Ines is here from my team and myself.
23:35We will be around all day.
23:37Just come to talk to us.
23:39Thank you.
23:40Wonderful.
23:41Turn around.
23:42It's actually that way off there.
23:43I'll actually ask you before you go, before you go, where can they talk to you?
23:46If they want to talk to you, do you have a booth?
23:47Where is it?
23:49You don't have a booth?
23:50Just have to find you.
23:52Okay.
23:53Amongst thousands of people, I'm sure you'll find her.
23:56Right.
23:58We move on.
24:00Next investor.
24:01Up to two minutes.
24:02Short and sweet.
24:03Ready now.
24:04Please welcome Orange Ventures.
24:12Hi, everybody.
24:14Nice to meet you all.
24:15I'm Mel from Orange Ventures.
24:17We are the investment arm of Orange.
24:20We are managing 350 million euros.
24:24Our team is split into two parts.
24:26So you have one team that is based in Dakar and soon in Cairo.
24:29One team that is based in Paris.
24:31Actually, I belong to the Paris team.
24:34As for the team that is based in Africa, they are investing all over Africa in seed and in French
24:41-speaking countries.
24:42In Africa, in Series A to Series C.
24:45As for the Paris team, we are managing two pockets.
24:49The first one is an impact pocket where we invest in late seed Series A rounds.
24:55In three verticals that are climate, inclusion, and care tech.
25:01With this pocket, we are investing all over Europe.
25:04And the second pocket that is managed by the Paris team is a pocket where we invest in Series B
25:09and C startups.
25:10Tickets going from 5 million to 20 million euros.
25:14We can also invest in Series A rounds if we have the feeling of having some asymmetry of information thanks
25:21to the Orange expertise.
25:23We are targeting several verticals such as fintech, network IT, cybersecurity, digital enterprise, so SaaS B2B.
25:33Also targeting e-health, gaming, content, AR, VR, and B2C marketplace.
25:39Today, we can lead, co-lead, or follow rounds.
25:43In terms of our past investments, we invested in companies such as Dataiku, Monzo, Batch, Brut, etc.
25:53And we'll be happy to meet you at our booth that's just over there at the Orange Venture booth.
25:58Thank you.
26:00Thank you so much.
26:01Orange Ventures, again, booth just ahead of me, right behind you, just over there.
26:05Again, conversations, take them forward.
26:08You're curious.
26:08You'd like to know more.
26:09You're happy with what you've heard.
26:11You'd like to question them about different things.
26:14Straight over there.
26:14Have a coffee.
26:15Have a chat.
26:16And see where it unfolds.
26:17Moving on.
26:17Our next investor.
26:20Sharing their ideas, or just sharing their insights,
26:23why you should perhaps collaborate with them, is Daphne.
26:31Hey, everyone.
26:33It's great to meet you.
26:34I'm Marie from Daphne.
26:35And as you've heard quite a lot of pitches already,
26:38I was hesitating to tell you that we're simply the best.
26:41But you might want me to prove that.
26:43So we were created in 2015,
26:46when all VCs used to work on Gmail, Excel 5s,
26:49in fairly traditional structures.
26:52Quite counterintuitive when you invest in digital and tech.
26:55We wanted to change the rules.
26:57So we built our own model.
26:59First, by creating a digital platform
27:01on which all our workflow runs,
27:03and which allows us to be as responsive as possible.
27:06Second, by gathering around us a community of 300 experts,
27:10and we and all our startups can rely at any time.
27:14Third, by putting together a diverse team
27:17of both investors and entrepreneurs,
27:19including the seasoned Marc Simoncini,
27:21who are also fun, nice,
27:23and very, very passionate about their work.
27:25As for investment thesis,
27:27we are sector agnostic,
27:29but do have a common thread,
27:30which is tech for good.
27:32What really drives us is technology and digital
27:35to change the way things are done,
27:37either in the personal or professional scale,
27:39for space,
27:41on a large scale,
27:42and for a better tomorrow.
27:44To give you a few examples
27:45of our portfolio startups,
27:47like Marquette,
27:48Swale,
27:49Léocard,
27:49Pascal.
27:51To give you some very practical information,
27:53we're based here in Paris,
27:55but invest mostly in Europe.
27:57Our sweet spot is C-Series A,
27:59with tickets ranging from 500k to 5 million euros.
28:03We're currently deploying full-speed two vehicles,
28:05one generalist of 170 million,
28:08the second retail focus of 80 million.
28:10So if it matches you,
28:12we have almost,
28:13well,
28:14around 10 investments a year,
28:15so don't hesitate to reach out.
28:17We're looking forward to talking to you.
28:20So there we have it.
28:21Daphne,
28:22there we are.
28:22Simply the best.
28:24Right.
28:27We move on.
28:28Next investor,
28:29again,
28:29remember,
28:30just joined us.
28:31Two minutes,
28:31no more.
28:32Up to two minutes
28:33to persuade you,
28:35to give you,
28:36give you an idea,
28:37to intrigue you,
28:38to feel,
28:39to make you feel curious
28:40about potentially working together,
28:42collaborating with an investor.
28:45Again,
28:45looking for any investors,
28:47opening your net to any investors,
28:49probably usually not the right way at all,
28:51but clearly something that matches what you're doing.
28:53and clearly that matches the way forward
28:55and naturally matches your vision together
28:58on the path forward to success.
29:01That is exactly what each of the investors
29:03is trying to persuade you,
29:04that they're the right match for you.
29:06Again,
29:07conversations together after each of these pitches.
29:10We move on now to the next investor.
29:13Please welcome SOSV.
29:22I'm sure most of us in the audience
29:24have heard the expression,
29:25it takes a village to raise a child.
29:28So what does it take
29:29to raise a million dollar,
29:31billion dollar company?
29:33Right?
29:34And not just software,
29:35hardware,
29:36biotech,
29:37blockchain,
29:38deep tech,
29:38right?
29:38Software might be eating the world,
29:40but deep tech is the teeth.
29:42And you need an entire infrastructure
29:43to support your investments.
29:45What do hardware companies need?
29:47They need help with manufacturing at scale,
29:50designing,
29:51prototyping,
29:51raw material manufacturing,
29:54right?
29:54How do you work and find the factories?
29:56How do you enter retailers?
29:58And then for biotech,
30:00right?
30:00You need labs.
30:01You need people to help you
30:04navigate the IP,
30:05the university licensing process.
30:07And for software,
30:09the biggest challenge
30:10is customer acquisition.
30:11How do you acquire customers
30:13without basically giving away
30:16the hard-earned money
30:16that you just raised
30:17to Google and Facebook?
30:19So my name is Minja.
30:20I'm one of the partners at SOSV.
30:22We're,
30:23according to PitchBook and Crunchbase,
30:25depending on which year you look at it,
30:26we're always number one
30:27and number two
30:27and most active early stage investor.
30:29We invest about 150 companies a year,
30:32including Follow-On,
30:33across every single technology,
30:35vertical, biotech,
30:36hardware,
30:37and software.
30:38We operate startup programs
30:40in order to support our companies
30:42so that we can also help companies
30:44that we invest in
30:45in a systematic
30:46and scalable manner.
30:47So if you would like to reach me,
30:49here's my email.
30:50You can also connect with me on LinkedIn.
30:51Thank you.
30:53Wonderful.
30:54As we listen,
30:56I can imagine,
30:57certainly very difficult,
30:59so much information
31:00and everybody's sounding great
31:02on stage, aren't they?
31:03Looking great,
31:03sounding great,
31:04lots of ideas as well,
31:06lots of things
31:06that are helping you feel curious
31:07to start those conversations,
31:09but at the end of the day,
31:10quite a difficult choice
31:11as to who is the right fit.
31:13Maybe chat with everybody,
31:14everyone,
31:15and then at the end of the day,
31:16then find out perhaps
31:17the next step forward.
31:19we move on now
31:20to the next investor.
31:22Please welcome
31:23Speed Invest.
31:30Hi, everyone.
31:32So I guess you have a bit
31:33of investor fatigue by now,
31:35so I'm going to try
31:35to tell you a story
31:36instead of just telling
31:38what you can find
31:38on our website,
31:39speedinvest.com.
31:41So the story of Speed Invest,
31:43it started 10 years ago.
31:44Three very humble
31:45and smart guys
31:46out of Vienna.
31:47can you imagine
31:4810 years ago
31:49the European ecosystem
31:50starting a VC fund
31:52in Vienna?
31:52It was crazy.
31:5410 years later,
31:55we are one of the leading
31:56early stage investors,
31:57so we focus on
31:58pre-seed and seed investments.
32:00So if you're an entrepreneur
32:01and you try to raise funds
32:02or you're even like
32:03having an idea
32:04of what you want to start,
32:06you have to come
32:06and seed us
32:07and basically we're going to,
32:08you know,
32:09we invest at pre-seed
32:09and seeded stage.
32:10And this entrepreneurial journey
32:12is in our DNA
32:13because now
32:13these three guys
32:14out of Vienna
32:15have grown
32:16the largest European
32:18early stage fund
32:19in Europe.
32:20We have more than
32:21250 portfolio companies,
32:23sorry,
32:23and we are one
32:24of the leading ones.
32:25So we have like,
32:25of course,
32:26the unicorns,
32:26you can find all of that
32:27in our website.
32:28But what we really
32:29want to do is
32:31meet as early as possible
32:33with the entrepreneurs,
32:34with the people
32:34that focus
32:35on the sector
32:36that we actually
32:36deep dive in,
32:37which are fintech,
32:39marketplaces and consumer,
32:41deep tech,
32:41health
32:42and anything
32:43that has to do
32:44with like environment.
32:45We also have like
32:46cross-sector focus.
32:47We focus a lot
32:48on emerging markets
32:49as well outside of Europe
32:50and we also cover
32:51everything which is
32:52blockchain related
32:53as cross-teams
32:54because everything
32:55cross-investment stages.
32:56So if you're
32:57an early stage entrepreneur
32:57and you have this
32:59next brilliant idea
33:00and you want to enter
33:01a great journey
33:02for eight to ten years,
33:03please come and see us.
33:04Thank you.
33:06Fabulous.
33:08Early stage entrepreneurs
33:09with big ideas,
33:10wanting to move forward.
33:12Does that sound like you?
33:13Then this guy here
33:14with this investor
33:16is certainly
33:17the right way forward.
33:18But again,
33:19probably the right way forward
33:20with many others
33:20that we've already heard
33:22and already to come
33:23as well.
33:24Our next investor
33:26sharing their
33:26short and sweet,
33:28fast and furious
33:28pitch to you
33:30to help you decide
33:31if they're the right fit
33:32for you
33:33about to hit the stage
33:34very simply is
33:35Stride VC.
33:43Hi everyone.
33:45I'm Pietro Mvernizzi
33:46of Stride VC.
33:47Our motto at Stride
33:49is the center's welcome
33:51because we think
33:51that founders
33:52can come from
33:53any walk of life
33:54and they don't really
33:55need to fit into
33:56any type of mold.
33:57We love to invest
33:58very early
33:59when things are
34:00really chaotic
34:00and when there's
34:02not too much data
34:03to base our decisions on
34:05and when it's
34:06really about
34:06two things.
34:08First,
34:08founders.
34:09Are these founders
34:10that can reshape
34:12their industry?
34:13Are they founders
34:14that will go
34:15all the way
34:15into building
34:16really big
34:17and meaningful companies?
34:18And second,
34:19the size of an opportunity.
34:21Do we think
34:21this opportunity
34:22is infinitely scalable?
34:24Do we think
34:25it's something
34:25where the founders
34:26have a unique enough
34:27insight to build
34:28something that will
34:29go all the way
34:30into like a billion
34:31dollar plus opportunity?
34:33We do
34:34a constant effort
34:35to try and take
34:36the bullshit
34:37out of venture.
34:38So we try to run
34:39very fast processes.
34:40We try to speak
34:41the same language
34:42as founders
34:42and we try to make
34:45the founders feel
34:46like we're working
34:46with them
34:47as opposed to
34:47sitting on one side
34:48of the table
34:49and just listening
34:50to their pitch.
34:51So every session
34:52that we have,
34:52even the very first
34:53meeting with them,
34:54we try to make it
34:55a whiteboarding session.
34:57So we love
34:59and are completely
35:00obsessed with
35:00beautiful products
35:01and beautiful
35:02user experiences.
35:03So whenever
35:04we look at investments,
35:05we try to focus
35:06on things
35:07where there could
35:08be a lot of users,
35:09whether it's B2B
35:10or B2C,
35:11and there could be
35:11literally hundreds
35:12of thousands
35:13or millions
35:13of really engaged users.
35:15So that's kind
35:15of the focus
35:16in terms of space.
35:18And all of our team,
35:19except for myself,
35:20is an operator.
35:21So if you look
35:22at Fred,
35:23who sat on the boards
35:24of Deliveroo,
35:24Pilpa, Kazoo
35:25and many others,
35:27Clio,
35:27who launched Uber
35:28in China
35:29and scaled it there,
35:30we love to get
35:31quite operational
35:32when it comes
35:33to helping
35:33our founders,
35:34when it comes
35:34to fundraising,
35:35strategy
35:36and talent as well.
35:38If you want
35:38to reach out,
35:39I'm Pietro
35:40at stride.vc
35:41and yeah,
35:42great to be here.
35:43Thank you.
35:44That way,
35:45absolutely wonderful.
35:46There we are,
35:47Stride VC.
35:48Moving on now
35:48to our next investor,
35:50our next investor pitch,
35:51sharing with you
35:52why you should work
35:53together,
35:53collaborate together
35:54and have the conversations
35:56to take you both forward
35:57into the right direction.
35:59Please welcome
35:59Balderton.
36:05Hi everybody,
36:06Michael from Balderton.
36:09So what,
36:09this is very simple.
36:12It's,
36:12we invest in European
36:14pioneers
36:15that have an urge
36:16to disrupt
36:17and champion
36:17their industry.
36:18That's as simple as that.
36:20We started as early stage investor
36:21and we're now
36:22gross focused.
36:23So I'll try to focus
36:24on what makes us different.
36:26What makes us different
36:27is first that we've been
36:28in Europe for 20 years
36:29on the ground,
36:30which means that we build
36:31a unique understanding
36:32of what it takes
36:33to go from
36:34a European startup
36:35to a global champion.
36:37Second,
36:38is that
36:39across Balderton,
36:40everybody believes
36:42in being a catalyst
36:43of great innovation
36:45while being a,
36:47while having a positive
36:48impact in the world.
36:49And third,
36:50is our way of partnering
36:51with you.
36:52We believe in
36:53sticking with you
36:54through thick and seen.
36:55We believe that your journey
36:56is not going to be linear.
36:57It's going to have
36:58ups and downs
36:59and we want to partner
37:00with you all the way.
37:02We want to be there
37:03in the bad
37:03and in the good moments.
37:05Second,
37:06is that we believe
37:06in the power
37:07of the collective.
37:08So we have,
37:09in our portfolio,
37:10we invested in
37:11230 companies
37:12in 20 years
37:13across Europe.
37:14So there are CEOs,
37:16CTOs,
37:17CFOs,
37:17founders that have
37:18been through
37:18your journey before
37:19and we believe
37:20that's very strong.
37:21And finally,
37:21our team
37:22is made of
37:23founders
37:24and operators
37:26that have been
37:28building
37:28or been part
37:29of multi-billion dollar
37:31global businesses
37:32and they're here
37:32to share openly,
37:34open the kimono
37:34and share their knowledge.
37:36And actually,
37:37that works.
37:38So,
37:40in 2021
37:41only,
37:42across the
37:43Balderton portfolio,
37:44there has been
37:4413 new unicorns,
37:464 IPOs,
37:4711 M&As
37:49and 20 new investments.
37:51And that's just
37:52in 2021.
37:53And we have done so
37:55by also being
37:56the first
37:57generalistic VC
37:59to implement
38:00sustainable future goal,
38:02as I was saying,
38:03positive impact
38:03in the world
38:04for us
38:04and our portfolio company.
38:05so if you believe
38:06that you're
38:07a European investor,
38:09come and find us.
38:10Wonderful.
38:10That way,
38:11actually,
38:12where can they find you?
38:13Where can they find you?
38:14Email is over there.
38:15Over there?
38:16It was over there.
38:16Somewhere over there.
38:17Okay,
38:17somewhere over there,
38:18you can find Balderson.
38:19Right.
38:20Somewhere over there.
38:21I love it.
38:21Right,
38:22guess what?
38:23Believe it or not,
38:24we have now,
38:24listened to 15,
38:25no less than 15,
38:27investors.
38:27Each and every one of them
38:28very different indeed.
38:29Each and every one of them
38:30certainly benefits
38:32to many people.
38:33but the question is,
38:34is it right for you?
38:35Has it persuaded you
38:36to start a conversation?
38:38Are you intrigued enough
38:39to find out
38:41whether this is the right match?
38:43I suggest again,
38:44everybody,
38:45all the investors
38:46that have spoken here,
38:47reach out to them
38:48over LinkedIn,
38:49for example.
38:49If you're here
38:50at Viva Tech,
38:51you can find them
38:52in the hall
38:52somewhere over there
38:53or over there
38:54wherever they said
38:54and you'll be able
38:55to do that.
38:56Before we finish,
38:57before we finish,
38:58I'm going to invite
38:59back to the stage
39:00a gentleman we heard
39:01at the beginning,
39:02Bastien Carvez,
39:03the head of startups
39:04here at Viva Tech.
39:05Just a few words
39:06before we finish.
39:08It's working, yeah.
39:10Thank you, Peter.
39:11Thank you very much
39:11to everyone.
39:12It's been a real pleasure
39:13to have you all
