00:54:19Well it is all about winning Celtic could have had the game out of sight at half time they didn't and they've relied on a piece of

00:54:31wonderful skill from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to give them the lead

00:54:37And they have another opportunity Livingston to throw this ball forward they

00:54:46are almost out of time and probably for the first time in the game they are shown a bit of urgency

00:54:51They've pushed plenty of men forward once more it's the goalkeeper who's going to have to lift this

00:54:55one up towards the edge of the Celtic penalty area Celtic players having to defend us again

00:55:49I think when we watched that first half especially the first 15-20 minutes we never thought the game

00:55:57was going to finish this way but it's a touch of class Oxlade-Chamberlain when shots and crosses were

00:56:04getting blocked left right centre there's a composer to get out of his feet and bend it into the far corner

00:56:13What an important goal for Celtic that is

00:56:17Well you can see how delighted Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is he just wants to play football

00:56:22and he gets one touch and it's the way he just opened up his body and he knew exactly what he was doing with it

00:56:29Yeah brilliant that's a really classy finish we're right behind it here on the ganty as soon as it leaves his foot

00:56:35it's finding that insider in the net in the far post

00:56:39And I think the way the Livingston goalkeeper was playing tonight it needed something that good

00:56:42It needed something special we just spoke about it before looking for a bit of inspiration a bit of class

00:56:48and he brought everything there to the table it's a really important goal

00:56:56And just at the end there the stramash in the box I think Hattati thought twice

00:58:35But it's a wonderful wonderful finish and you talk about that class is always permanent we've always

00:58:40said that it's just if he's going to be fit but Livingston defended never so well him out the

00:58:44centre of their goal and it was going to take that bend and it wasn't just the finish you caressed

00:58:49into the far corner a wonderful wonderful finish and we couldn't see it coming because they'd done

00:58:53so well and we thought we'd run out of ideas but it takes that moment of magic and

00:58:58my god I'm delighted at that

00:58:59Yeah I mean I won't lie Peter and I had a hug when that goal went in and it was uh it was it was a good

00:59:07hug there was there's your stats I mean the stats in this game Peter I mean more than any other game

00:59:16mean absolutely nothing because when Livingston got back into it and the stats will show you that Celtic

00:59:22were absolutely dominant in every area of the game but if you don't put the ball in the back of the net

00:59:28then you don't win football matches and it took Celtic to the 91st minute for Alex Oxlade

00:59:35Chamberlain on his debut you can see what it means to him coming off the pick listen he's not a

00:59:39renowned goal scorer he has scored some spectacular goals you know we'll never forget the one he scored

00:59:44for Liverpool against Man City in the the Champions League he's not played a game of football for a

00:59:50while but I don't know is it the luck of Martin O'Neill has he got something about him and

00:59:54the Celtic have pulled it out the heart again but it's such a vital three points because two points

00:59:59lost in this game could have been disastrous it could have been curtains it's as simple as that

01:00:04because that's how fine it is nowadays and you're getting to that stage now that it's going to be

01:00:09and people are saying 42 points we spoke about prior to the match you've got to get the points

01:00:13especially if the other teams are winning you know you've got to keep one in yourself you've got to

01:00:17keep plugging away but listen that's what champions do people talk about champions in the past but that's what

01:00:23they do they keep going they keep fighting and then boys produce a moment of magic and that's

01:00:27what he's done there's a moment of magic we were putting balls in the box running a little bit of

01:00:32an idea but listen what a roar when the ball went into the back of the net for the supporters and

01:00:36and the relief from everybody around nobody's balling up at the performance now so all about the result

01:00:41at this time can I tell you something else Peter there are cheers currently outside the stadium at Celtic

01:00:47Park because Motherwell have just equalized against Rangers I know you're not bothered I don't know who they've ever played

01:00:51you're not interested I know that you couldn't care less um but the Celtic supporters are celebrating

01:00:57outside um Celtic Park it's amazing how things can turn um so quickly um can I tell you who scored the goal

01:01:07it's not an OG it's not no no tell me a Celtic player oh it's not Welshie wow wow I know I know you're not

01:01:16interested I don't even know who I know exactly you're not interested at all but a Celtic player

01:01:21has scored against Rangers for Motherwell tonight will Mark Money will be pleased tonight or will he

01:01:27be looking at a game like this as the manager he's the one that's going to look at it in the cold late

01:01:31of day him and Sean Maloney and think guys we can't keep doing this well the bottom line is you've got to

01:01:36win that's the bottom line how you win it doesn't matter you could play really poorly and won you know

01:01:41tonight they didn't play poorly they could have been out of sight in the first half they could have been out of

01:01:44sight with the amount of possession in the second half but I told you that the stats that count

01:01:48here's the goal the stats that count is the ball hitting the back of the net you can dominate as

01:01:53much as you want the ball's got to hit the back of the net Ternecte again was a good pass it was a

01:01:57firm pass because it had to but what a wonderful finish but if you if I'm talking about Ternecte he

01:02:01came wide and it dragged him in isolated the players went on the inside now here's bang it's the first touch

01:02:08in the turn isn't it absolutely and that's that's what separates the ordinary player because he's

01:02:12taking it away into an area that he's able to set up his shot they talk about Benjamin Negrim a couple

01:02:16of times but that's a wonderful finish against a goalkeeper who's inspired tonight you know time

01:02:22after time he's saving it but you've got to give credit to Necte as well because the pace on the ball

01:02:27back is important so the defender can't get there then they touch but then the finish the finish is

01:02:32top draw any player in Europe any of the top players doing it would all be raving about it but that's what

01:02:37top players know they're capable of yeah stunning celebrations as well you know someone once said

01:02:45there's a fairy tale about this club now I don't know whether Celtic are going to go on and and win

01:02:50the league I don't know whether we're going to go on and win the double who knows we're in it we're in

01:02:54it for both competitions but you look back on the game at the weekend that game there this is the stuff

01:02:59that dreams are built on but that's what Celtic do and Celtic have always done you know you've got to

01:03:05score late winners and important games you've got to do but you've got to give these boys great credit

01:03:11you know they've kept going some of them maybe not playing at their best but they've kept going

01:03:15they've kept driving under they've kept going the fans have kept with them but yes there's a little

01:03:19bit of nervousness we understand that's at this time of the season you're at but the players on the

01:03:23pitch have got to produce and they've done that because they kept fighting they kept attacking they

01:03:27kept trying to get the ball in the box yes like a quality at times for sure but that sums it up

01:03:33winning that game for a game they should be an out of sight in which all of a sudden worked like

01:03:38that we hope there's six minutes hope there's 10 minutes then all of a sudden you get the goal

01:03:41and it's just that relief for everybody and that's what it takes that's what it takes to

01:03:45win championships and you're right in that fight again and you've got a very important game coming

01:03:49up at the weekend and that's what Matt will be saying to them now rest recovery ready to go again

01:03:55different type of circumstances on the AstroTurf and whatever all these situations you know what

01:03:59players are you going to look at to play in that particular because that'll be a difficult game down there

01:04:03there's no doubt that the surface makes it a difficult game anyway so that's what he's looking

01:04:07at now and that's the focus Matt we'll be talking about already and that's what you've got to do as

01:04:11the Celtic manager livingston players were very unhappy at the end of the match they felt that they

01:04:17should have had a a penalty kick goalkeeper ended up getting a booking at full time for this we've not

01:04:21really had a chance to to see it back right the ball bounced down off the turf back up no i mean if that's a

01:04:30penalty surely the game's gone it's never it's his elbow anyway yeah it's his elbow it's still

01:04:35count wouldn't it but it's in here it's body you know i mean i thought it was the way they were

01:04:39talking as if it was basketball with his hand nowhere near it yeah and listen if we get it i'd be

01:04:45complaining it'd be saying oh well it's not the communication from bar was that his arms were in

01:04:49his body so there's no attempt there the livingston players were uh not happy at the end that they

01:04:54didn't get that penalty kick and you know to be fair to be fair to livingston they did defend um

01:05:01they defended in numbers they defended below block you know Celtic tried to use the width sometimes we

01:05:07had to go extremely wide to actually benefit from that but they were Celtic were toiling in that second

01:05:12half to to find a way through i think that was a big difference in the two halves the first half i thought

01:05:17we kept the width then i still thought we started getting a little bit anxious coming a little bit

01:05:21closer then we're ended up playing the width of the 18 yard box and i think we look an ordinary side

01:05:25when we do that so even we stretch the opposition whether it's a fullback going on the overlap or the

01:05:29winger staying right out in the touchline it stretches him and that's what gave Tanekta the

01:05:33chance because he stayed out wide it gave him the chance to get the ball then the two players come

01:05:38running towards him but he was cute enough when he stepped in at the end it's the pass he's made but it

01:05:42was his positional play to start on the first move because i thought he was going in too quick i thought

01:05:46my idea was going in too quick and then james even when he come on was coming in too quick so

01:05:50it was making it easier for livingston to defend because we're just running into bodies so with

01:05:54Tanekta doing that that small detail could end up winning you the match because he stayed wider

01:05:59and as i say the quality's passed but obviously chamberlain's taking man of the match i don't care

01:06:04how well everybody else has played yeah he's getting man of the match we're trying to get him out of the dressing room

01:06:08just now um to to chat to him but um while we're waiting on that let's look back on all the goals i

01:06:15mean remember this peter this was this was what this was after about seven chances that Celtic had

01:06:20a goal in the the first half games prior made about five or six saves but at this point it looked like

01:06:25this is going to be one of these games where Celtic just scored four or five goals yeah well the one

01:06:29thing mark is you try and get that early goal and put the pressure on them you know and it's and to be

01:06:33fair the boys did we missed chance after chance the keeper had one of the eight nights that he

01:06:37thought everything was going to stick with him he was getting in the right position we'll play that's

01:06:40great credit to him people say i know it's quoted as that's his job but he'd done it fantastically well

01:06:44because the ball some of the chances we were getting was very close to him but Saracchi sat it ever so

01:06:49well as i said again it was his first touch that allowed him to get the strike away because he's set

01:06:54up so he can get his left footed strike because if he takes that touch forward allows a livingston

01:06:58player to come out and get a tackle in so with him knocking it to the side and getting the strike away

01:07:03he thoroughly deserved that because i think he's a top quality player talking about top quality

01:07:07players there's two of them waiting to speak to us callum mcgregor and the match winner alex oxlade

01:07:15callum you've left it late again but um just how big are those three points tonight yeah huge um

01:07:20you know obviously we just keep banging the ball down and obviously alex gets uh an unbelievable goal

01:07:25with big quality um but the team they're fighting right to the end i think we're we should be out of

01:07:30sight by half time to be honest but um it's another good sign that the team are keep going keep going

01:07:34scoring so many late goals uh it's just testament to the mentality in the group and you had to do it

01:07:39on sunday you've been hoping not to have to do it again it's really testing your resolve yeah of

01:07:44course i have but um you know it's hard when there's there's 11 bodies plus nine of your own trying to

01:07:49score as well so um teams are sort of flooding the box and you've got to keep working it really patient and

01:07:54the goal is a perfect example as well everyone's dropping deep and they cut back and then uh what

01:07:59finish but um you just got to keep getting better keep trying to you know score early goals and try

01:08:03and obviously like i said take away that that kind of nervy ending but um i think it's a really positive

01:08:08sign the amount of late goals the team has scored alex could it go any better than coming on and

01:08:13scoring such a wonderful winner no uh i was sort of drawing that one up in in the hotel room earlier and

01:08:19they're the things you dream of you know um still at this age uh later on in my career moments like

01:08:25that is um that's why we play this game and and you never get bored of stuff like that um i'm just

01:08:30delighted that the club's given me the chance to be back on a pitch um put a bit of faith in me to to

01:08:35be able to have moments like that and now it's that's my job um to try and add a bit of quality like

01:08:40that um the boys like cal said knocking the door down for a long time there um i'm gonna have to learn

01:08:46that we're going to need moments like that um bits of quality and be a bit more clinical and to be

01:08:51able to see games out but again great character from the boys they stayed focused um all the way

01:08:56through the game and uh yeah we got the the job done there you've been here for two matches and you

01:09:02see just what Celtic have to go through and come up against when particularly here at Celtic park but

01:09:07how much does that character mean if you're going for titles and trophies yeah it's everything um i saw it

01:09:13the other night um and it's it's a special special place um tonight proves it um i've seen it over

01:09:19the years watching Celtic and now to sort of you know feel that it's it's a massive massive club and

01:09:25and the fans can play such a big role um and then for us as players it's our job to so you

01:09:30know to keep inspiring keep them there keep them with us um and keep performing for them

01:09:35Callum what's the message for fans players everyone as you go into another huge game at the weekend

01:09:40yeah yeah we've just got to keep going every three days um this is the message and like alex said

01:09:44there the supporters have got such a big part to play and we need everyone pushing in the right

01:09:48direction it's it's going to be a real slog um right up to the international break um and you

01:09:53just got to keep winning games you know it doesn't matter how you win them you just got to keep winning

01:09:56them and uh once we get to that last six weeks we'll be right in it um and chasing it down well sometimes

01:10:47and a really good clearance we always seem under pressure absolutely no argument it's a stonewall

01:10:57not going to miss it here usually he's a placer he just went around it by casper schmeichel and you

01:11:02think where does that came from but then that's it's that nervousness in livingston are then thinking

01:11:07to their self we've done everything here we've kept deep we've got that chance to get the break now

01:11:43back into the game penalty kick and then you know we're driving and driving and driving looked as if you

01:11:49know might not happen and then uh alex comes up with a wonder goal wonder goal from a who has been

01:11:57a very special player you're right to say that after 15 minutes it was perhaps hard to believe

01:12:02that the game could get to the stage it was at one one it could have been out of sight slightly

01:12:06frustrated that we didn't push on after the opener well it's not so much we did i don't think they

01:12:10pushed on i think i think that we had i think we had opportunities i think there's there was two i think

01:12:16well we broke once and uh my ideas played it right across the the penalty box and it and it's like

01:12:22a tap in for someone you know so we go to then and we might be fine but it is you know it's all tense

01:12:28and it's it's all of those particular things and i've never felt that livingstone were ever out of it

01:12:32ever out of the game in that sense and uh you know they play to their strengths which is absolutely fine

01:12:38and we have to deal with that as well too and they get the penalty kick and uh and then you know we're

01:12:43we're we're trying to crowd them we're trying to um it's a it's a bit you know the crowd wanting you

01:12:48to you know to to to play that that that uh that ball a wee bit faster sometimes it's right sometimes

01:12:55we you know we go three or four more passes trying to take players on on the edge of the penalty area

01:13:00all those particular things to try and break down what essentially was like a a 10-man defense that's

01:13:05fine it's it's it's there's nothing wrong with that and um and if you and there'll be a day when

01:13:12we're trying to hold on to a game or something to get seen we'll have 10 men back at the end of it

01:13:16but um it was just a a wonder goal as i say from a special player and and even though it was late

01:13:22it's great for us to win and i know hearts left it late last night to win it's so tight at the top but

01:13:27i think they took a lot of consolation from perhaps not playing at the best and winning do you take that

01:13:32same feeling from tonight's game no i i i think that there's i don't think i think if we'd scored

01:13:38the second goal i think that i think the tension would have been relieved and that but we said at

01:13:43half time this game's still in the balance you've just mentioned to me how did how did it get that

01:13:48way and sometimes that's the way football goes it's you know we we weren't able to score the second goal

01:13:55to put the game to bed and then it becomes tense then they get an equalizing goal and then you're

01:14:00searching for that as we did last at the weekend as well we're searching for that as it turns out

01:14:04the equalizing goal in the cup match and for here it was the winning goal just as the squad gets

01:14:09stronger and the angles pulls up early in the match is there any sense of what that may mean i don't know

01:14:16i don't know what it is it might be a thigh i'm i'm not sure i haven't had a chance to speak to the

01:14:21medical team yet about that there but that's this is this is the the well it is a problem for us you know

01:14:28because angles is a has been a very very good player for us i suppose we could say the answer

01:14:32to that came with alex oxley chamberlain scoring a winner with a little more time a little bit more

01:14:37fitness does he come really into your thoughts of course absolutely right you know he's he's uh

01:14:42hopefully he's just beginning and that was that was terrific as i said there's a class goal from

01:14:47from a player who has been classed throughout his career well done tonight thank you

01:15:02at the winning goal then before we go alex oxley chamberlain came on to make his celtic debut not

01:15:09quite scoring with his first touch but his first touch here was uh absolutely outstanding and his second

01:15:15touch put the ball beyond prior into the corner of the net a quality goal deserving of the three

01:15:22points absolutely as i said to next his position jerry first worth but that touch it wasn't to do

01:15:26that because you see how quickly i think it's seller he's flying out to him because obviously he knows

01:15:31like saying the quality of oxley chamberlain look how he's diving out trying to get there but what a

01:15:37finish he couldn't have placed any better his hands that's as good a goal as you'll see with that

01:15:42pressure on at that time in the game because he's got to bend it around so many players including his

01:15:46own and i agree with martin in my respects the team played really really well the first half

01:15:50second half gets a little bit edgy of course but the first half they were excellent could have been four

01:15:54or five and out of sight and they've got to keep that belief but when it goes to it that's the difference

01:16:00so when all said and done tonight celtic get the three points that um equaliser late equaliser at

01:16:06third bar by celtic player stephen welsh for 10-man motherwell made it one each against rangers so

01:16:14celtic are just a point behind rangers with a game in hand and still six points behind hearts at the top

01:16:23what a night it was next up for celtic the trip to rugby park on sunday to take on comarnock let's
