00:00We begin, though, on the college gridiron.
00:02Well, we've got a little bit of a scandal, you might say.
00:06Texas Tech, Brendan Soresby, the quarterback,
00:09he has filed an injunction against the NCAA seeking eligibility for the 2026 college football season
00:17after an investigation into gambling activity.
00:20The lawsuit asked for a ruling by June 15th, right around the corner,
00:23so Soresby can know whether he can play in 2026 or must consider entering the NFL's supplemental draft
00:31before the June 22nd deadline.
00:34Now, the legal filing says the NCAA is being hypocritical by profiting on sports betting,
00:41the industry as a whole, while aggressively punishing athletes for gambling activity.
00:46And this guy, if you look into the court documents, was gambling on overseas, you name it.
00:52Pretty Turkish basketball, to name an instance.
00:56This is not just stateside activity here.
00:59The filing states the NCAA has, quote, weaponized Soresby's condition
01:03while benefiting from the gambling ecosystem.
01:06Now, according to Pete Thamel, a statement from the NCAA,
01:11the NCAA has not received a reinstatement request.
01:15For this case, the NCAA generally does not comment on pending reinstatement requests,
01:20but the association's sports betting rules are clear, as are the reinstatement conditions.
01:26When it comes to betting on one's own team, these rules must be enforced in every case
01:32for the simple reason the integrity of the game is at risk.
01:36So, stay tuned for more details on that.
01:39Let's go to the NBA, where Game 1 lived up to the hype between the Spurs and the Thunder.
01:45San Antonio, despite being a 6.5, then 7.5-point underdog once De'Aaron Fox got ruled out.
01:53Big leads throughout this game.
01:54The Thunder used a big fourth quarter to catch up, forced extra time, went to two overtimes.
02:00And as you can see, Spurs victorious in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
02:06112, or rather, pardon me, 122-115.
02:11Victor Wemenyama, incredible.
02:1441 points, 24 rebounds, three blocks in his first response to not winning MVP,
02:20while the guy on the other side, Shea Gildress Alexander, did.
02:23Goes for just 24 points, just by his standards.
02:26Usually gets you for 30-plus, 12 assists as well.
02:29Jalen Williams, his return after a six-game playoff absence was excellent.
02:3426 points, had seven rebounds as well.
02:37Game 2 coming up on Wednesday.
02:39Mitch Johnson, Mark Dagnalt, the respective coaches for San Antonio and Oklahoma City.
02:45It was a competitive game.
02:47It felt like both teams just kept doing enough to not be put away
02:55and kept doing enough to let the other team know they were trying to pull away.
03:05It got to the point probably sometime at the end of that fourth quarter,
03:08it just felt like it was a war of wills.
03:12And there was a level of mental toughness that was exuded by both teams.
03:22And almost sometimes, like in football, they say it's just at some point the time runs out.
03:27It felt like everybody kept scoring.
03:28But the bench was great for us.
03:31We needed every second from everybody that played.
03:33And then those five guys, I think, I don't know what it is, one of you probably do,
03:36but they played maybe the last 15 or so odd game-time minutes.
03:42And their legs got wobbly, but they composed themselves and finished strong.
03:47And that was a heck of a game to be a part of.
03:50Offensively, it took us a little while to get a little bit of a rhythm in the game.
03:54In terms of balance, to your point, I thought our threes were good in the first half.
03:58We didn't shoot it great.
03:59I actually thought we had higher quality threes in the first half than we did the rest of the game.
04:03But the balance of attacks wasn't great.
04:06Who knows what that is?
04:08It's the first time playing them in four months.
04:10They're obviously a unique opponent.
04:12We just had a while off.
04:13I thought we caught a little bit more of a groove to start the second half.
04:17We were lucky to be down seven at halftime.
04:19But, yeah, I mean, 100%, there's a lot we can improve on.
04:25Excited for game two.
04:26Again, de facto NBA Finals.
04:28Feels like it, doesn't it?
04:29We also have game one tonight between the Knicks and the Cavaliers, so stay tuned for that.
04:35But, baseball, no team better in the majors than the Tampa Bay Rays.
04:40Can you believe it?
04:41It's true.
04:41They am near a 700 winning percentage.
04:44And yesterday, a showcase.
04:46Tampa all over AL East rival Baltimore.
04:4816-6.
04:50The Rays won as home favorites.
04:52Best record at 31-15.
04:54Yandy Diaz scored four times, reached base four times with four hits, drove in four.
05:00Junior Caminero, a home run, had four RBI.
05:03Very impressive.
05:04The 16 runs, though, not to be outdone by the Mets.
05:07They exploded for 10 runs in the 12th inning to win six of seven.
05:12It was 16-7 the final against the Nationals.
05:15The Mets won as road favorites in this case.
05:18The game had been tied going into the top 12, six apiece.
05:22But then the Mets absolutely went nuclear.
05:25First team in the NL to score 10 runs in extras since the 1919 Cincinnati Reds.
05:32The Mets now 11-4.
05:34This month, they have won six of seven, as mentioned.
05:37Bo Bichette, a home run in this one.
05:39Brett Batty went deep as well.
05:41Carlos Mendoza, the manager.
05:43Did you not have a letdown after an emotional weekend?
05:46What does that mean?
05:48I mean, the resilience, the grit.
05:50You know, that's a group that, you know, we came today and it's a new series.
05:54It's a new day.
05:55What happened yesterday, it doesn't matter, you know.
05:58And that's the mentality for tomorrow.
06:00We show up tomorrow, we won a very good game today.
06:03It was a back and forth and we never got down.
06:07You know, we kept punching.
06:09And even when we didn't score those, you know, a couple of extra innings there, we were able to, the
06:15pitching staff was able to give us a chance and the guys came through.
06:18So emotions, like I said, we got to be able to turn the page.
06:21You know, I say that when we're losing.
06:22I'm saying the same thing when we're winning, you know, it's another important game tomorrow and we'll come here and
06:27that's what we'll do.
06:30Let's stay in the NL East.
06:32Remember when the Phillies were terrible?
06:33Yeah, me either.
06:35How about this?
06:3616-4 under Don Mattingly.
06:39Phillies, six straight wins, 5-4 against the Reds yesterday, won his home favorites.
06:44Very impressive performance under the interim skipper.
06:48Bryson Stott hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning.
06:51Alex Boehm, a deep ball as well.
06:54Sal Stewart on the other side went deep for Cincinnati.
06:56But Boehm talking about winning with the long ball, even though Kyle Schwarber, the majors' home run leader, did not
07:03play.
07:04Nice to win a game with the long ball on a night when you don't have the majors' leading long
07:10ball hitters.
07:11Yeah, really good to see, you know, everybody kind of step up when Kyle's down today.
07:17And hopefully we can, you know, get him back as quickly as possible.
07:22But, yeah, I think, you know, it just shows that we do have a long lineup.
07:27And, you know, the numbers you might see on the scoreboard don't truly, you know, reflect the talent, I think,
07:33that we have in here.
07:34And, you know, any given day, anybody can get it done for us.
07:37So, you know, that's what's cool about this team.
07:41Padres plus money dogs beat the Dodgers, silenced that potent lineup.
07:461-0 for San Diego.
07:48You could go again, roll it right over, right around plus 135 tonight if you want to.
07:52Michael King outdid Yamamoto on the other side, though, both honestly excellent in going seven innings apiece.
07:59As for the Brewers, took care of the Cubs, 9-3 at Wrigley, won as road dogs in this one.
08:05Christian Yellich, a home run.
08:06Jake Bowers went deep as well.
08:08On the ice, do not ever ignore a Game 7 when it's there for you.
08:15Montreal held a 2-0 advantage after one period.
08:18Buffalo chipped away goals in each of the next two periods.
08:22To force extra time.
08:24And then it was the Canadians advancing to the conference finals with a 3-2 win in extra time.
08:32Alex Newhook with the game-winning goal in OT for the Habs.
08:36The Canadians, very impressive.
08:38Road dogs as well, coming away with the win.
08:40Next up, it is the Carolina Hurricanes.
