00:02Welcome to Watch and Go, the series where we review things that we watched while we
00:07do our wash and goes, we do our hair.
00:09So spoiler alert, as always, and in this episode I will be reviewing Jordan Peele's directorial
00:15debut, Get Out.
00:18Sink into the floor.
00:21Wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:22Sink.
00:23Mine.
00:24It's a terrible thing to waste.
00:27Terrible.
00:28If there's too many white people, I'll get in a hurry.
00:35No.
00:36My mom is a terrible thing to waste.
00:41So first I'm gonna give y'all a run through of the products really quickly.
00:44I'm gonna detangle my hair with some Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish Conditioner, Shea Moisture,
00:51Kukui Nut and Grape Seed Oil Damage Rehab Shampoo with Olive Leaf Extract and Avocado Oil.
00:58Then I'm going to deep condition with As I Am's Hydration Elation Intensive Conditioner.
01:05And then I'm gonna style my hair with Eva NYC's Leave In Cream and Curl Cream.
01:13When I first saw the trailer of Get Out on Facebook, I thought it was going to be a parody film.
01:21Yes.
01:22I thought it was going to be a scary movie and that it was going to be making fun of the horror
01:28genre.
01:29I was wrong.
01:30This is a legitimate horror movie.
01:33More like a psychological thriller, really.
01:36Alright, so Get Out is about an interracial couple.
01:39Chris, played by Daniel Kaluuya from Black Mirror and a lot of other things.
01:47He is very moisturized.
01:49His skin looks perfect all the time.
01:52And then his girlfriend is a base chick, right?
01:56Her name is Rose and she's played by Allison Williams, who I disliked as Marnie in HBO's
02:04Girls and I carried that dislike over into this film and it will probably follow her for
02:09the rest of her career.
02:10So, Rose has decided it's time for her boyfriend, her black boyfriend, to meet her family.
02:17Nothing that's innocent, right?
02:19I wouldn't introduce anybody to my parents after four months, but hey, culture differences
02:24maybe, I don't know.
02:25While we think that Rose is just taking her black boyfriend to visit her family, what we
02:32come to find out is that Rose's family actually harvests the bodies of black people and puts
02:39all white people's minds inside.
02:42So, you know, that's the horror of it all.
02:48Shout out Daniel Kaluuya's facial expressions in this movie.
02:53I could watch this movie on silent and still know what's going on.
02:57Chris, the black dude, smokes.
03:00And so, at the dinner table, you know, the dad is like, oh, that's a disgusting habit.
03:06My wife should really hypnotize you.
03:08Skrt!
03:09The mom is a psychiatrist.
03:12Psychologist?
03:13Psychiatrist?
03:14I don't know, but she also hypnotizes people.
03:16One night when Chris is out for a smoke, he's not supposed to be, right?
03:21Through a strange twist of events, the mom calls him into her office.
03:26She hypnotizes him.
03:28Now, the thing of it is, it's not an innocent hypnotism, right?
03:33What she really did was put him in the sunken place, okay?
03:37The sunken place is phase one of his actual demise, right?
03:41All these old beige people come to Rose's parents' house,
03:46and they are acting so inappropriate around Chris.
03:51One woman grabs Chris's biceps.
03:54She's like, oh, yes.
03:55Are the stereotypes true?
03:57Oh, is it better?
03:58Is it bigger?
03:59And I'm like, granny, please!
04:02Okay, now that my hair is all detangled, it is time for me to wash my hair with shampoo,
04:07and I'll come back and put some deep conditioner in.
04:12Everything in the movie, and your own just intuition as a human being, but especially your intuition
04:19if you are a black person watching this movie, from the get-go, has told you to tell him,
04:26to scream at the screen, get out.
04:29So the whole movie is really about Chris catching up to the fact that he needs to get out.
04:38And he finally comes to that realization, something is off, I'm probably in danger.
04:43You know what, Rose?
04:45Beige girlfriend, I love you and everything, but we gotta go.
04:48So, he's asking Rose for the keys.
04:51Rose can't magically find her own keys.
04:53Rose is just looking for these keys, you know what I'm saying, for a really long time.
04:57And then Rose says, you know I can't tell you where the keys are.
05:03And I'm like, oh god dang, god dang.
05:07The movie switches from Beige girlfriend being the one good white person, to her being in on it.
05:16She is in on it, she's always been in on it.
05:19I don't know if I want to spoil it for you and tell you if they succeed or not.
05:24Actually I'm not gonna spoil it for you.
05:26I'm spoiled enough.
05:27So you gotta watch the movie to see what happens in the end.
05:31We are all in this theater looking for every weapon he can use.
05:37We just want him to succeed, we want him to survive.
05:40So I've applied the deep conditioner, feeling juicy already.
05:43So I'm just gonna let this marinate in my hair for a bit.
05:49And then I'll come back with my final thoughts.
05:54So, I have applied the leave-in and curl cream.
05:58My hair is feeling bouncy, moisturized, and defined.
06:02I give Get Out a smooth 5 out of 5.
06:07All the horror, well not the horror, all the gore of the movie happens at the end.
06:13And that's the part where I won't spoil.
06:15Go watch it.
06:16Twice.
06:17I give it 5 out of 5 for Daniel Kaluuya's facial expressions, for his moisturization levels.
06:24Cause he is just so shiny black.
06:27And I'm here for it.
06:29I wouldn't read too deep into stuff.
06:31It can get easy to be like, ooh, what did Jordan Peele mean when he did this?
06:37I don't think a lot of it's that deep.
06:39A lot of it is very surface level with what he's trying to do, I think.
06:44I just think it's a great movie.
06:46And you should go watch it.
06:48That's my watching goal.

06:51Now, I will blow dry my hair because if I don't, it'll dry like this.
