00:00What's going on ladies?
00:12Say eww!
00:16We are the season six cast of If Not For My Girls.
00:19How y'all feeling?
00:20Good, how are you?
00:21I'm good, I'm good.
00:22Y'all look beautiful.
00:24Y'all look so good.
00:25Yeah, y'all look so good.
00:27So I'm thinking we start off about our backgrounds, who we are, our stories.
00:32Yes.
00:33So let's start with you Amber.
00:34I like that.
00:35With me?
00:36Oh, we're jumping right into it I think.
00:37Yes, I would too.
00:38Okay, so I want to know, what did you know, when did you know that music was your passion?
00:44Oh man, I've been singing since I was two years old.
00:50But I think I got passionate about it when it got hard.
00:54I think that that's when I knew that I loved it.
00:57When I really, really, really, not that it's not hard now y'all, cause it's hard now.
01:02But I think it's, I think it's really when I got, when it got difficult and I decided to keep going.
01:08Okay.
01:09What about you?
01:11You said what started me in music?
01:14Poverty.
01:18No, I really like, I think having such support from like my idols and people who I looked up to.
01:24Yeah.
01:25And having them kind of bring their arm around me and embrace me as, as somebody who belonged in those same rooms.
01:30I think that was like really shaking for me.
01:32So, yeah.
01:33And you belong in them rooms, girl.
01:34Yeah, like I stepped in like, yeah, this is my room too.
01:36Period.
01:37Period.
01:38Yeah.
01:39And so I want to know who inspired you to go after your dreams?
01:43Oh man.
01:44Um, I, I really want to say my mom, me and my mom are a lot alike.
01:50I'm literally her twin.
01:52Um, she's a singer also.
01:54That's dope.
01:55And she always says that I like completed her dreams.
01:58Like she loves to see me because it's like, it is her accomplishment.
02:01That's my mom.
02:02So I'm going to say that the biggest inspiration to keep going was my mother.
02:06Oh, I love that.
02:07I love that.
02:08I'd have to mirror that thought too.
02:09Definitely my mom.
02:10She's here too.
02:11Somewhere in the world.
02:13Hi mama.
02:14I don't know.
02:15There she goes.
02:16There she goes.
02:17She's so fly.
02:18Y'all look at her.
02:19Her mama's so fly.
02:20My mom.
02:21I grew up around all strong women too.
02:22To your point.
02:23We talked about it backstage a bit too.
02:24Um, you know, my mom, my grandma raised me.
02:26I have two sisters younger that I had to lead an example for too.
02:30So I think like super inspirational and of course, God, you know, the leader of all things,
02:35the creator of all things within me and of this world.
02:37So for sure.
02:39How did you guys know that you knew what you had, what it took to break through this like
02:44really difficult industry?
02:45Like, what do you think?
02:47To be honest, God, like I'm like, I have the favor of God.
02:52I tell myself that every day.
02:54Absolutely.
02:55Amen.
02:56I'm like, this is my purpose in life.
02:57And every, every year I feel like I get more bigger visions and more inspiration.
03:02It's just all from him.
03:03It comes straight from him.
03:04Hmm.
03:05What you think Amber?
03:06Oh man.
03:07I think that I just, just kept going and hope that it did.
03:10Um, like, I don't know if it was a, I think I remind myself often like, okay, you got this.
03:17And there are little markers that you get in your career and some validation that you get that
03:22keep, that keeps you going.
03:23So I think it's those, those things like the little markers that you get.
03:27What about you?
03:28I never really know what's going to happen.
03:30My days are so by chance.
03:32Well, not, I don't think nothing happens by chance, but my days are so sporadic.
03:35I never know what's going to come up.
03:37And some days are worse than others.
03:38I think that's what we don't tell people is the journey is so complicated.
03:42And they kind of only see the glitz and glamor of it.
03:45They don't never see the days where you're like, I'm not doing this no more, which is
03:49why I always give people grace that I meet and it's any person I meet.
03:52I treat them like they have the key to my destiny because I feel like you just don't
03:57know what it takes anyone to just wake up in the morning and try.
04:00Yeah.
04:01You know?
04:02So saluting everybody who's trying.
04:05Thank you for waking up and trying.
04:07That was good.
04:08For real.
04:09She be talking.
04:10She be talking good, y'all.
04:12Lady Monday.
04:13Okay, y'all.
04:14So in this work that we do, we all need a support system.
04:17And we already talked about our mothers, but I want to know, as far as friends, how
04:22have your friends supported you during this journey?
04:25Ooh.
04:26My friends help me with everything.
04:28They do my hair.
04:29They do my makeup.
04:30I'll be like, guys, I need some help with this music video.
04:33They'll come up, show up for me, be in all my music videos.
04:35I love it.
04:36They help me with everything.
04:37I love that.
04:38Yeah.
04:39I think it's, I mean, of course we just lead with prayer with everything.
04:43My friends are like, we're our own little gospel choir.
04:45We can't sing though.
04:47Like we just got our little praise and worship and we show up for each other and we show
04:51out, you know, like really, really present people.
04:55Um, and my friends know me cause I can go very inward when I'm like upset or dealing
05:00with something.
05:01I can like completely be in solitude and they'll be banging at my door.
05:04Like, girl, you just need to like lay down with us and just like, we need to pray about
05:07it or a game plan or strategize.
05:09And, um, I think, I thank God for my friends so much.
05:13Like I, I've really got a great village and I've been friends with most of my friends for
05:16over 10 years or most of my closest friends.
05:19So.
05:20Well, this is called if not for my girls.
05:22And the thing that I love that you guys said is that you let people help.
05:26Yeah.
05:27And I had real trouble, which I feel like, does anybody ever have issues with asking for
05:32help or letting people help?
05:34Yeah.
05:35And you perfectionists and type A's out there.
05:37That's like, well, if they ain't going to do it how I do it.
05:39Yeah.
05:40No, no.
05:43I think, um, I love the fact that you guys let people help and I'm, I really learned
05:49this year because I needed the support of my friends and I needed to put my ego down and
05:55put my pride aside and actually ask for things that I never thought that I would have to ask
05:59for.
06:00So I think that that's really dope.
06:02Like knowing that God doesn't know everybody the way he knows you.
06:08Yeah.
06:09So I think for me, I, I real realizing that covering came with access to favor and reward
06:16that was beyond my own.
06:18And knowing that covering also came with sacrifice was so important.
06:22Like there's, there's like supernatural increase on the other side of obedience.
06:26100%.
06:27And I had to, I had to say no to like good things to get great things.
06:33It's a lot of things I turned down, a lot of money I left on the table.
06:36Cause like not all good things are God, are God things.
06:39Right.
06:40So I used to be like, I don't know.
06:41My spirit is just like, I don't know if I can really do that or whatever.
06:44But I think that learning, like learning those type of things early helped me so much along
06:50the way with my discernment, you know?
06:52And can I ask, sorry Raina, but can I also ask those things that you said no to, but the
06:57things that you said yes to, were they maybe not in abundance, but they always propelled
07:02you forward?
07:03Oh, for sure.
07:04For sure.
07:05Some things are not supposed to be like glitz and glamor.
07:08Some things are opportunities to network and just expand.
07:12You know, they're, they may be smaller pay, but they're bigger, like opportunities and
07:16bigger looks.
07:17And so I always prioritize that when I look at things too.
07:19And then, you know, that little, that little picture of God holding a teddy bear behind his
07:23back.
07:24Big one.
07:25Yeah.
07:26It's a little one.
07:27And they're like, no, no, not this one bigger.
07:28And I always think bigger.
07:29Oh wow.
07:30Like do your big one.
07:31Bigger girl.
07:32I love it.
07:33Bigger.
07:34You know what I'm saying?
07:35So.
07:36I learned how to listen to myself.
07:38I'm, I can be such a sweet person.
07:40And I would just be like, okay, this person has so much experience.
07:43Let me listen to them.
07:44And then I learned that like, not everybody has the vision that I have.
07:47And I'm only saying that because I was adamant.
07:49I'm like, this is my dream.
07:50This is what is going to happen.
07:52And people would be like, I don't know.
07:55You're in country music.
07:56You're, you know, in this stage of your career.
07:58I was like, so I got the favor of God.
08:01There's nothing that's, there's nothing impossible.
08:04People would try to put their limitations on you too.
08:07It's like, you can't do that.
08:10You can't do that.
08:11It's like, baby.
08:13If I only told you half my dreams, I guess we could sit here all night about what I can't do to you.
08:17You know, that's why you can't share everything with everybody.
08:20For sure.
08:21Be careful who you share the dream with.
08:23Be careful who you ask to pray for you.
08:25It's a lot of things.
08:26Let's get into it.
08:27Cause I don't know.
08:28Don't get me running across the stage, lady London.
08:31Don't, I don't know what your prayer game is like, but you know what?
08:35A building that's built on a hill cannot be hidden for sure.
08:38Like you are destined to be whatever you're trying to be in this world.
08:41This is what I do know.
08:42Say that again.
08:43A building that's what?
08:44That's built on a hill cannot be hidden.
08:47It's impossible.
08:48You are who you are because God says you are.
08:50So that's just that on that.
08:52To shift gears a little bit.
08:55They, I know that like a lot of people are like super multi-talented and multi-hyphenate.
09:00Of course you are amongst those.
09:03I mean, just all the things, all the things.
09:06So how did you prioritize, you know, what you would lead with talent wise?
09:12Or do you still kind of have that?
09:14Like, I don't know.
09:15Do I want to act?
09:16Do I want to sing?
09:17Do I want to like, I mean, we always been in performative arts, but what is your,
09:21how did you determine what you wanted to do first?
09:24My pull to the things that I love to do is like an appetite.
09:28So like, sometimes my appetite is I need to be on stage.
09:32I need to feel the people.
09:35I need to do theater.
09:37Like I just did The Preacher's Wife, the musical.
09:40Pop it.
09:41Pop it.
09:42Brand new musical.
09:44I play Julia Biggs.
09:46Yeah.
09:47And I just needed to do the theater because I needed to test myself.
09:51Theater is hard.
09:52It's one of the hardest things that I've ever done in my career.
09:55Yeah.
09:56And it may not have been on a world stage.
09:58It was regional theater, but it fed me in a way and it taught me in a way that like,
10:03I don't think another film could have, you know?
10:06And I think that that's just kind of how I choose.
10:09It's what I'm drawn to and what I need in the moment.
10:12That's fire.
10:13I love that.
10:14Do you have any other passions outside of singing?
10:18100%.
10:19Yeah.
10:20Definitely wanna, well, I'm actually gonna be in some TV shows.
10:23Drop it, drop it.
10:24I can't talk about what TV shows, but I've always wanted to not just be a musician or
10:29a singer, but an entertainer across all verticals.
10:33So, TV, film, books.
10:35Like, I love to sing, but I'm a storyteller.
10:37I love to write stories.
10:38I wanna write my own TV series, et cetera.
10:41Comic books, graphic novels.
10:43Talk to me, girl.
10:44Let's talk after this, girl.
10:46All the things.
10:47I love that.
10:48All the things.
10:49That's my new thing.
10:50All the things.
10:51Okay, so, as much as we want to do it all, we can't do it all.
10:56Especially sometimes as creatives, right?
10:59So, I wanna know, how did you guys build your team?
11:02I had a lot of trial and error.
11:05And there's been a lot of really good people that I've had a part of my team, but I just
11:11realized that they didn't always have that vision that I had for myself.
11:15They wanted me to be in a box or a certain lane, and I'm like, y'all, I'm bigger than that.
11:19And I also don't wanna just be a country singer, a country star.
11:24I want to be a superstar, regardless of country music or whatever genre that I'm doing.
11:29And some people didn't see that.
11:31And I'm like, okay, well, I thank you for everything that you've done for me.
11:36I thank you for everything that you've taught me, but I'm not gonna limit myself because
11:40your vision is limited.
11:41Wow.
11:42Even though I appreciate you and I genuinely love you, but I'm not gonna be held back because
11:46you can't expand your vision.
11:49Wow.
11:50That's real.
11:51It was really hard, too, because I love people.
11:53I'm like, man, I don't wanna let you go, but this is gonna be, it's gonna be better for
11:56both of us, not just me, but you're gonna find an artist that you can pour even more into,
12:01and that will be the perfect fit for you.
12:03I love that you know this this early.
12:05Yeah, that's important.
12:06You're gonna, like, you're gonna kill it.
12:07I love that you know this this early.
12:09I think if you wanna fly, you gotta give up the stuff that weigh you down.
12:12And I think some people just can't come along for the ride.
12:15You know, like, I believe in the path of the narrow is the path of the successful.
12:20So making sure that everybody is aligned to get through that door, no matter what that
12:24looks like.
12:25Sometimes that means you have to walk behind me to get through this narrow door.
12:28Some people, they strong-arming.
12:30We all gotta walk through the door together.
12:32It's like, we're never gonna get through if the goal is for everybody to show up in
12:37the same places.
12:38Everybody has to have their own role.
12:40Yeah.
12:41There's unity amongst diversity.
12:43Obviously, if the ear were to say that because I'm not an eye, then I'm not a part
12:47of the body, then where would the body be?
12:49Because we all need our functioning parts.
12:51So I think finding people that have roles and placements in our camps makes sense.
12:57And no one should ride the bus for free.
12:59What do you do here?
13:00What do you contribute here?
13:02How are you growing me?
13:03How are you making me better?
13:05You know what I'm saying?
13:06What's tea?
13:07Like, what's going on?
13:08You know?
13:09What do you do here?
13:10Oh, that's a new line.
13:11What do you do here?
13:12They gonna be sick of me now.
13:13What do you do here?
13:14Job title?
13:15I'm sorry.
13:16I thought you were no longer with us.
13:18No.
13:19No.
13:20Okay, wait.
13:21In what areas have you guys decided to manage yourselves though?
13:24Because we can't give it all to everyone else.
13:27So what areas have you decided to manage yourself?
13:30I wear every hat.
13:31Anybody who knows me knows I be on PDF forms.
13:34I'm doing every email.
13:35I'm going, you know what I'm saying?
13:37I'm getting my wardrobe.
13:38I'm getting my, you know what I'm saying?
13:40Everything together.
13:41So, yeah.
13:42I've always wore hats.
13:43But if you want it done right, you do it.
13:45You step up.
13:46And you make sure that you're able to do it.
13:48It's beautiful to have people in place to take off the load.
13:50But you make sure you can show up for yourself.
13:52And you're not like a danzel in distress when necessary.
13:56I've definitely stepped into being a plus size woman.
14:00Fashion is just, it's always just hard to find clothes and all that.
14:04So I've stepped into fashion kind of by accident.
14:08You know, because out of necessity.
14:11And I had to learn to do my hair and makeup.
14:13Because when I was in Hollywood, there weren't, when I started,
14:15there weren't a lot of black hair and makeup artists.
14:17And there wasn't a priority to do that.
14:19So I did my makeup today.
14:24My stylist's name is Iconteps.
14:25He styled me.
14:26But I did do my makeup and my hair.
14:27Oh, I love Kasey.
14:28So sweet.
14:29That's my baby.
14:30It is.
14:31What about you, Reyna?
14:32Where have you, where have you learned to like manage
14:35or decided to manage yourself in what areas?
14:37All, to be honest, like there was a point where I didn't have a team.
14:41So I had to be my own PR team.
14:42Period.
14:43And I had to be my own label.
14:44I had to be my own manager.
14:46And this was a time where actually I had let go of my full team,
14:50like my whole team.
14:51Yeah.
14:52And it was just me.
14:53Well, I don't want to say it was just me.
14:54It was me, God, and then my parents.
14:55Yeah.
14:56And I would be like doing my own PR letters.
14:58I would be hitting up Rolling Stone and Billboard.
15:00I'd be like, hey, I just released a song.
15:01Can y'all write about it?
15:02Or, hey, Spotify, I just put out this new single.
15:04Can y'all push it?
15:05So I was doing, I was doing all the things.
15:07And it's hard for me to let go of control because I was,
15:11I got used to doing all those things.
15:13But now I have an incredible team.
15:14Like my manager's here, Christina.
15:16Where you at?
15:17Raise your hand.
15:18Christina was up there curling her hair earlier.
15:20She's all in.
15:21Christina was curling my hair.
15:22Christina does all the things.
15:23And there she is.
15:25And she's incredible.
15:27I trust her.
15:28And I'm like, she, she knows, they know what they're doing.
15:30So I really push all the, all the control.
15:33What's the best, what's the best advice you got from a black woman as a regards,
15:38in regards to like love or following your dreams?
15:42Okay.
15:43Following your dreams to you and love to you.
15:45Following my dreams.
15:47That it's, it's always going to be hills and valleys.
15:52You know, you just keep, you keep going.
15:54Me and my sister have a saying.
15:56We'll, we'll, we'll talk about the things that we're going through.
15:59And we always just say, just keep swimming.
16:02Your head is.
16:03Yeah.
16:04Just like Nemo.
16:05Like your head is still above water.
16:06Just keep on kicking.
16:07Just keep swimming.
16:08What is the best bit of advice that a black woman has given you about love?
16:14About love.
16:15Yeah, man.
16:16I'm, I'm switching gears.
16:17I'm about to switch it all the way up.
16:19None.
16:20My mom, my mom is amazing, but her advice is always like focus on your career.
16:25Like love will come at some other point right now.
16:27I'm, I'm in love with music.
16:28Yeah.
16:29I want Grammys.
16:30Like focus on those things.
16:31She didn't really give me a lot of advice about love other than, you know,
16:34find someone who loves you for you and, and that'll happen.
16:37She didn't, we didn't really dive into that.
16:40I don't have like any dating experience really.
16:42Well, it's funny that you should mention that because that's what I'm about for
16:46to ask about.
16:47Talk to her.
16:48Dating in 2024.
16:50She said she about to sip on this one.
16:55Describe dating in 2024.
17:01Let's do it in one word.
17:02Treacherous.
17:03I'm just kidding.
17:04I'm kidding.
17:05I'm kidding.
17:06I'm kidding.
17:07I literally don't have any experience.
17:10I'm just messing around.
17:11Uh, that was gonna be my word.
17:16No, it's bad.
17:19It's the trenches.
17:21It's the trenches.
17:22It's not, honestly, I would say it's super fluid.
17:24I think people just be vibing right now.
17:27Like, I don't know.
17:28I know I'm vibing.
17:29I'm in my dating era.
17:30I've always dated.
17:31I've always been in long-term relationships and I'm like single.
17:34I'm outside, but I'm outside.
17:36Like I'm really outside.
17:37Like I never got to date before.
17:39I never like just went on dates.
17:41I was like a date and he was like, Oh, we together.
17:43Like I'm putting you in the house, you know?
17:45So I'm like, I'm like, let's just do dinner.
17:50I love this for you because the dimples popped out.
17:52The smile got big.
17:54She's living her best life.
17:56I'm just saying my man, my man, my man.
17:59Oh, you know, I'm trying to say that about a couple of people.
18:02You're actually at a time.
18:04Um, so how do you guys know to pivot a little bit?
18:07My man, my man, my man.
18:08How do you guys know when to take your relationship or a situation ship public?
18:14Like what's, what's, when is the soft, soft launch giving?
18:18What does that give?
18:19Child, I be hard launching.
18:21Hard launch?
18:23Um, honestly, it's, it's not anything that I ever planned.
18:27My man, my man, my man is back there.
18:29Yes.
18:30My man, my man, my man.
18:32Um, it's not even really anything I plan.
18:35I just kind of live my life.
18:36I don't really hide anything.
18:37Like I'm, I'm private with the things that I'm private.
18:40You only know what it is that I want you to know.
18:42Um, but not secretive.
18:44No.
18:45Yeah.
18:46I'm private, but not secretive.
18:47Like I hard launched a relationship.
18:48Whew.
18:49And that went, whew.
18:50That went left.
18:51Um, but now we're right again.
18:53And, uh, we outside.
18:55Love that for you.
18:56Together.
18:57I love that for you.
18:59Mine was full hard launch.
19:01I've only dated.
19:02I've only been with one person.
19:03And when we were together, I had a billboard of us in Times Square.
19:06Oh my God.
19:07But we were the single, we were the cover of my single.
19:11I had him in like my visualizers for my album.
19:14I was like, I wrote these songs about you.
19:15Child, he was in my first music video.
19:17He was in my first music video.
19:19I can't even watch it.
19:21I was like, I wrote this song about you.
19:23So I need people to know that this is what, this is what it is.
19:26Y'all I have not found my tribe.
19:28Okay.
19:29When I tell you my launch is so extra soft.
19:32It's pillow.
19:33It's cotton.
19:34Like I give half a ear, no tattoos visible.
19:36Like we're giving half a shoelace.
19:38My tribe is out there.
19:40Yeah.
19:41Because they are definitely like, y'all not better than us.
19:43You're not better than us.
19:44Girl.
19:45I live a very, very secret life of Zack and Cody.
19:47Okay.
19:48Absolutely not.
19:49Absolutely not.
19:51No, ma'am.
19:52Lady London.
19:54I'm serious.
19:55Secret life of Zack and Cody is crazy.
19:58Baby.
19:59If you post me, I will pay for your page to be deleted.
20:01Please.
20:03Please.
20:04So how do you know if someone's not into you?
20:06Like, what are the signs?
20:07Have y'all experienced this before?
20:10No, unfortunately.
20:12I have.
20:13I've experienced somebody that like, I want to date and go out on dates.
20:17And like, you just playing.
20:20Like I've experienced that where it's just like, you just kind of want to be around,
20:24especially being in the limelight.
20:26You get with people that just kind of want to be around.
20:29Like it's a call Tyrone type situation.
20:32Hang around in bars.
20:33Trying to hang around with stars.
20:35Like what is.
20:36Talk to him.
20:37What's going on?
20:38Serenade.
20:39I'm saying though.
20:40It's like that, you know.
20:44I feel like I am him.
20:45Who you talk about.
20:47Awkward.
20:48Not hang around.
20:49Not hang around like Tyrone.
20:50You are so not him.
20:51I got my own.
20:52Yeah, I'm about to say.
20:53You are so not him.
20:54But I'm saying I be really like, not trying to go out.
20:56I'm the person that like, sorry I'm busy.
20:59But you be honest about that from jump.
21:01Yeah.
21:02And that's what I don't like.
21:03Like, let's just be honest.
21:04We grown.
21:05Yeah, that's all I got on me right now.
21:06Yeah.
21:07Pockets, taps.
21:08All right.
21:09It's Essence Fest's 30th birthday.
21:11Ooh.
21:12So, can we end this with like a little game?
21:16I like a game.
21:17You like a game?
21:18Sometimes.
21:19Okay, so this game is called Start, Stop, Continue.
21:24But it's the 30s edition.
21:25Okay?
21:26Raina.
21:27It's on you.
21:29As the youngest of the crew, I know you love that.
21:32Can you share three things to start, stop, and continue as you enter your 30s?
21:39Across love and life and going after your dreams, like all three.
21:42The big three.
21:4330 feels kind of like a lifetime away because tomorrow feels like-
21:46Don't do that.
21:47No, no, but that's-
21:48Don't do that, Raina.
21:49That's because tomorrow feels like a lifetime away.
21:52Like, I don't even know what I'm doing tomorrow.
21:54I don't know.
21:55Okay, let's like, okay, it's the 30s edition.
21:58So like, you have a lifetime to start, stop, or continue.
22:02I want to start having more fun.
22:04I can be really serious and really dedicated to only my work.
22:07And I want to start having a lot more fun.
22:10I want to continue to grow as a person and be the best person that I can and be a blessing
22:16to the people around me and be a light wherever I go.
22:19What was the one after?
22:20Start, continue.
22:21That was your start.
22:22So what is it that you think you want to stop?
22:24Ooh, I got to stop giving people a lot, a lot, a lot of chances.
22:30Yeah.
22:31Because I'll do, I'll give you like 20 chances.
22:33And then I'm like, I'm trying to see the best in you.
22:35But I'm like, this is not, this is not the best for me.
22:37So I got to stop doing that.
22:38Okay.
22:39And what do you want to continue?
22:40Like, what are you killing it at that you just need to continue?
22:46Music.
22:48Period.
22:49Music.
22:50Music.
22:51You just messed it up.
22:52No, I'm glad you said that.
22:53You started to catch me saying some stuff I didn't even say.
22:55All right now.
22:56I love it.
22:57Okay.
22:58All right, Lady London.
22:59What about you?
23:00Start, stop, continue.
23:01Well, it's real ghetto for me because I'm 29 now.
23:04I just turned 29 and I'm headed into 30 next year, which is like, whoo, what happened?
23:09I'm a fossil.
23:10We here now, sis.
23:11Welcome.
23:12Right.
23:13Right, right, right, right.
23:14But I think it's a beautiful thing, honestly.
23:16I think 30s is your 20s with more money.
23:19So, love that for us.
23:21Start.
23:22What do I want to start?
23:24I started playing instruments when I was young and I didn't finish.
23:29So, I would love to, like, learn how to play piano and guitar.
23:32Oh, I love that.
23:33So, that's when I want to start my new chapter.
23:35Stop.
23:36I want to stop.
23:38I want to stop not having boundaries.
23:43Because I really do think I let people really play in my face a lot of the times.
23:47And it's mainly because I like to keep the peace around me.
23:50But keeping the peace around me sacrifices the peace within me all the time.
23:54100%.
23:55I would say that.
23:56Yeah.
23:57I want to stop choosing myself secondary or tertiary even sometimes to situations.
24:04And continue.
24:06I want to continue my faith in God.
24:08I want to continue my walk with Him.
24:10And I also really want to continue running up a check.
24:14Because one thing about me, baby, I'm going to get to that paper.
24:20Okay?
24:21Okay, perfect.
24:22Amen.
24:23We love to hear it.
24:24So, Amber, I know you're already flourishing and thriving in your flirty 30s.
24:30Give it up for Amber.
24:33So, spill the tea.
24:35We need the tea.
24:36Okay.
24:37What is some advice that you would give your 20-year-old self now that you're in your 30s?
24:43Um, just to quiet the outside noise.
24:47Ooh.
24:48Don't internalize any of the things that...
24:50Like, you know in your heart, in your soul, in your spirit what is right.
24:56So, the things that people are saying that are the exact opposite of that, don't internalize it.
25:03Don't let that become the little voice in the back of your head.
25:07Poppy.
25:08I love that.
25:09And so, for you, you can't escape this question because I want to know, too.
25:12What would you start, stop, and continue as you continue your journey through life, through
25:19love, through dreams, and all the things?
25:21All of the things.
25:23I want to...
25:24You know what?
25:25I want to start taking dance classes again.
25:28Love that for you.
25:29I have been telling myself for the past year...
25:32Somebody said, me too!
25:33Yay!
25:34Do it, girl.
25:35Let's do it together.
25:37I want to start taking...
25:39I want to start taking...
25:40I've been telling myself for a year that I was going to start taking dance classes again.
25:42So, I want to start taking dance classes.
25:44I want to stop, oh gosh, doubting.
25:48Yeah.
25:49Just self-doubt in general.
25:52I battle with that a lot.
25:54Yeah.
25:55And I want to continue having fun.
25:58Yeah.
25:59I've really been enjoying my life the past, like, maybe the past the three years I've been
26:04more deliberate about having fun with family and friends.
26:08So, that's it.
26:09I want to continue doing that.
26:10I love that.
26:11You got to read James.
26:12You got to read the book of James on self-doubt.
26:15Okay.
26:16And just having more faith.
26:17Yeah.
26:18So empowering.
26:19This is my favorite book.
26:20Okay.
26:21Hey, I'm on it.
26:22Off of that.
26:23We'll offline.
26:24Some scriptures, you know?
26:25All the vibes.
26:26All the things.
26:27All right, y'all.
26:28Did you enjoy our talk?
26:29Yeah.
26:30These are my girls.
26:31I love them dearly.
26:32Yes, we love you too.
26:34Essence Fest 2024!
26:35Yay!
26:36Yay!
