12:29and smash it
12:30into some pages
12:31and make it so that
12:32people can understand it

12:34just continue to represent
12:36for the young
12:37black families out there,
12:39some that have families
12:40that were started
12:41before they met
12:41because we both,
12:42we have children
12:43before we even met each other.
12:44We both had children
12:45when we were really young
12:45in our teens.
12:47And it's weird
12:48because we're like
12:49growing with our children
12:50and I see a lot of people
12:51have that situation.
12:52We grew up in, you know,
12:54poverty and neighborhoods
12:55where, you know,
12:56you don't really know
12:57the effects of having children
12:59when you were teenagers
13:00and now that we're married
13:02and our kids are there
13:03and we're pretty much
13:04growing with them,
13:06it's kind of cool
13:07to be able to install
13:08certain values
13:08that we necessarily
13:09didn't get such as,
13:11you know, marriage
13:12and monogamy
13:12and family first
13:14before anything.
13:15So, we definitely
13:16are putting that
13:17into a book.

26:46just being in the music industry

26:55As the director of the film,

26:56with a biopic,
26:57there's so many things
26:58that you have to get right.

26:59What were some of the things
27:00that you had to make sure
27:02you got precisely right
27:03for this film?
27:03Well,
27:04definitely all the things
27:06that people know.
27:06There's a lot of headlines
27:07about Pac.
27:08So,
27:09below the headlines,
27:11we had to do research,
27:11and sometimes that was
27:13talking to real people,
27:14family members,
27:15friends,
27:15that sort of thing,
27:16people that were there.
27:18We did a lot of that.
27:19Yeah.
27:19A lot of that.
27:20And a lot of that
27:20went into the script originally.
27:22And you can tell
27:23when you see the movie.
27:24So, speaking of family members,
27:25did you work with
27:26Afini Shakur?
27:27Unfortunately,
27:27she passed last year.
27:28You know.
27:29But was she involved?
27:30She was involved in the film
27:31and I actually worked with her
27:32on a music video years ago
27:34for Keisha Cole,
27:35funny enough,
27:36Play Your Cards Right.
27:37And it's a Tupac,
27:39it's Keisha Cole
27:40featuring Tupac Shakur.
27:41And she's in the video.
27:43And we like,
27:44we have her with candles
27:46and all sort of
27:46sort of reminiscent about Pac.
27:48It's a very emotional video.
27:49And I spent some time
27:50with her talking to her
27:51about Pac.
27:52And it was not knowing,
27:54you know,
27:54seven years later,
27:55I'd be directing the movie
27:57or something like that.

27:58I'm seeing a theme already
27:59that it's all about
28:00connecting the dots.
