00:00Hello, I am Charlie Penn, and today on Essence Live, John Legend dishes on love, marriage,
00:10and his upcoming Essence Festival appearance, and our editors explain why they're super
00:15passionate about Netflix chewing gum.
00:18But right now, it's time for the hot list, the biggest stories you're buzzing about today.
00:22Ooh, and come to find out, it was Phaedra.
00:38Yep, after all the drama on this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, it was Miss Fix-a-Jesus
00:44herself who started the rumor about Candy wanting to drug and rape Portia.
00:50Shaking my head.
00:51After part three of the reunion aired, Candy told BravoTV.com that she was surprised Phaedra
00:57would quite go so low, quote, go so low.
01:00Being an attorney, you would think she wouldn't intentionally spread defamatory, false statements
01:05about someone.
01:06The sad thing was that she didn't even seem sorry for what she had done.
01:13Can we talk about all the black girl magic that was on display at this year's Met Gala?
01:18I mean, is it even possible to give out a best dress on her?
01:22Carrie, Tracy, and Solange all took chic to a new level.
01:27Meanwhile, Serena's stunning on them in that emerald green gown with her boo and her baby bump.
01:32But our girl Rihanna?
01:34Girl, simply gorgeous.
01:35We see you, Riri.
01:36We're just going to let this tweet from our girl, Brittany Packnett, sit right here.
01:50And now Texas police have changed their story about exactly what happened that night.
02:06Jordan was leaving a party that had gotten a little out of hand when police suddenly fired
02:11into the car he was riding in.
02:13But according to the BBC, police are now saying that the car Jordan was in was actually driving
02:19forward, not aggressively towards police, when they shot him.
02:23What is going on?
02:25We talk about this issue all the time.
02:28We protest.
02:28We write to our elected officials.
02:30But how do we cope with all this madness?
02:33Essence Live fam, weigh in.
02:35What do you do to stay happy and stay sane in light of constant news of gun violence towards
02:44black people?
02:46Let us know right now using hashtag Essence Live because we're talking about it next.
02:51It's Tuesday, May 2nd, and Essence Live starts now.
03:05Welcome to Essence Live, the hottest digital live show for black women.
03:10I'm senior lifestyle editor, Charlie Penn.
03:13Hey there.
03:14Now, feel free to use hashtag Essence Live or email us at essenceslive at essence.com if
03:20you ever want to come on the show to sound off on topics live.
03:24As mentioned in the hot list, we are beyond overwhelmed with the constant news of black
03:29people being gunned down for everything from being at pool parties to just walking home
03:34with some skittles.
03:36And now there's a story of 15-year-old Jordan Edwards who was shot and killed by Texas police
03:41while leaving a party.
03:43So today's question is this.
03:46What do you do to stay happy and sane in light of constant news of gun violence toward black
03:52people?
03:53Joining us now to talk about it with us via Skype are Essence Live viewers, Siobhan Messiah
03:59and the co-creator of Black Lives Matter, Alicia Garza.
04:03Hey ladies, welcome to the show.
04:05Hey, thanks for having us.
04:07Thank you guys so much for coming on.
04:09First things first, Siobhan, let's start with you.
04:12When you hear of stories like Jordan Edwards, what do you do to cope?
04:16Do you call into work black, binge watch favorite movies, just kind of vent with friends?
04:21What do you do?
04:23First and foremost, I have to take a minute to myself.
04:26A lot of the times when you read things off the social media, they get skewed.
04:30I have to do my own research and figure out exactly what's going on to kind of absorb
04:35it and process it.
04:37Once I have the whole story, I pray first and foremost.
04:40And then I kind of just sit back and let my emotions hit me.
04:45A lot of times we also kind of fight the emotions that come with it or we try to ignore them.
04:49And that's not what we need to do to kind of positively address this.
04:53So, first and foremost, pray and then kind of just process.
04:58And I think what you're saying is we have to feel something.
05:02Definitely, we want to, whatever we're feeling, we want to go with it.
05:05Alicia, you've been on the front lines of protesting this type of violence as an activist.
05:10How do you personally stay sane while fighting for our rights?
05:13Well, the first thing for me, I think Sivan is totally right, is just allowing yourself
05:20to feel.
05:21We get so much of this news all the time through so many different channels that it can create
05:27a level of apathy.
05:29There's so much information coming at us at all times that it is important to take a minute
05:34and just really feel and be in your feelings.
05:37But the other thing that's really necessary for me is to keep fighting.
05:42So, it can be disheartening in moments like this when we see yet another Black person
05:48gunned down for absolutely no reason.
05:51But what we also know is that the only way to change that dynamic is to fight for our lives.
05:58And so, for me, the way that I channel that rage, that anger, is into love for my people.
06:04And that love gets expressed through the work that we do at Black Lives Matter and in other
06:09spaces throughout the movement.
06:11Absolutely.
06:12But, Alicia, how do we know our protests are effective?
06:16Well, the thing I think is important for us to understand is that change doesn't happen
06:20quickly.
06:21Change happens over a long period of time.
06:24If we were to even look at the civil rights movement, most of what we hear are about things
06:29like boycotts and lunch counter sit-ins.
06:32But what we don't hear is that the last period of civil rights really lasted over a span of
06:3840 years.
06:3940 years is how long it took for us to get a Voting Rights Act.
06:4340 years is how long it took for us to desegregate schools and restaurants and other public accommodations.
06:50And so, when we look at this latest iteration of the movement, we should just be clear that
06:55we're four years in.
06:57And so, we have to be prepared to be a part of a long struggle.
07:00At the same time, we can do a lot of different things to win important victories along the
07:06way.
07:06One of the things you mentioned at the top of the show, which is making sure that you're
07:11in touch with your legislatures and people who are making decisions on your behalf.
07:15We're currently under an administration that has blatantly said that they are deprioritizing
07:22accountability for police officers like this one, who murdered a 15-year-old in cold blood.
07:29And so, we need to make sure that there is pressure being put on Attorney General Jeff Sessions
07:34and on the Trump administration to make sure that each and every person's life in this country
07:40is protected, upheld, and valued.
07:42Absolutely, I agree.
07:44We need to definitely apply the pressure.
07:46Siobhan, what are some of the conversations that are like that you have with your friends
07:49and family?
07:50Do you feel like you guys are numb?
07:53I think it just kind of depends on the person.
07:57When it comes to your friends and family, you have to realize who's ready to have the conversation,
08:02who's not.
08:03I have the conversation or I bring it up as much as possible.
08:06Some people aren't ready for the conversation and I don't want to force them because that's when
08:10you bring those feelings out that people aren't ready to handle.
08:13I think that also having these conversations with people who may not know exactly what's going on
08:20shows them our point of view.
08:23I work at a company that basically doesn't really have a lot of other people of color,
08:31so they may not understand exactly the feelings that we go through.
08:35And having those conversations within the organization helps them to understand what we're going through,
08:43even though it's kind of hard for anybody to understand, even ourselves.
08:46But having those conversations are necessary whether people understand it or not to help them understand.
08:52Absolutely. And my next and last question is for both of you.
08:57I think when all of this happens, it can feel like it's not okay for us to have fun, right?
09:01There's so much going on in the community. There's so much pain. Every day is a different story.
09:05We don't feel right just relaxing or letting loose or doing anything other than being a part of this
09:10movement. Is it okay for us to take a moment for self-care to just have a little fun in light of what's going on?
09:15Sure. It is important for us to continue to be able to find joy in our everyday lives.
09:27And the thing that I worry about sometimes in our conversations about self-care is that it's
09:33so individualized. Yes, there are things that we need to do for ourselves to be in our full dignity
09:39everywhere that we go. But we also know that we're not the only people as individuals who are
09:45being impacted by a daily onslaught of news about our murders. And so it's really, really important
09:51in times like this to be connected with community. Sometimes talking about what you envision for a
09:59world where Black lives actually do matter can be healing. It's the thing that actually helps us
10:05move forward to the next stage. And so, yes, take care of yourself, do what you need to do to find your
10:11dignity, to feel how you're feeling, but also don't do that in isolation. Do that in community and in
10:17relationship with other people who also need that support and also need that love.
10:22Absolutely. Thank you, Alicia. And Japan?
10:24I think it's not only important, it's necessary, but taking care of yourself is the first step to
10:31being able to fight for our rights and making sure that we're in the right mental space to do so.
10:38And just like Alicia said, with the community, Alicia actually came to one of my organization's
10:45conferences in October and spoke with us. And I think that conversation that she and the others had
10:52was so vital. And I make sure I spread that message regularly because it's necessary
10:57to be able to have that conversation with others and be able to share their emotions. They may not be
11:01able to process and telling their story or you telling their story may give them the courage to be able to
11:06process it and express those emotions and move them forward in the necessary fight that they
11:11need to be a part of as well. Thank you both so much for coming on and sharing. We really appreciate
11:15your time. Thanks for having us. So up next, Kayla, what's good? What's going on on Facebook?
11:23Lots of comments. So we asked earlier, what are you doing to cope in light of the recent
11:26shootings against Black people? Quincy Drinker says, it's hard. I just have to find my community,
11:31find what I can do to make the world better. Linda Donaldson and Rachel Tamiri says,
11:37they turn to Jesus, trust and pray in God. Angela Davis says, prayer and faith that God is in control.
11:43Gabrielle Langford says, you hold your son closer and begin educating. Tamu Brooks says,
11:49you can only march, sing and pray for so long. So let's remember that prayer without work is in vain.
11:55Well, keep your comments coming for today's question of the day, which is,
11:59how do you stay sane and happy in light of constant news of gun violence toward Black people?
12:06Don't forget to use hashtag Essence Live to sound off and we'll read the results later in the show.
12:12Now, coming up, we're talking politics, music and fatherhood with Essence Festival performer,
12:18John Legend. But first, who's watching Chewy Gum, Chewing Gum on Netflix? I am. I'm only on episode three,
12:25so bear with me, but everyone's addicted and I am too. But our editors, Sydney and Lauren, they love it. Watch.
12:37I think that religion and sexuality play a big part in this show, in part because of her mom.
12:44And her mom is, yes, a little crazy. Don't forget dinner. Oh my gosh. Yes. Okay.
12:52Well, she just wants the best for her daughters and she wants them to be saved. But there's a line.
12:58Yeah. In saving that she often like crossed. And that comes to a head in this season when the lady from
13:07the union mission thing is like, I guess, a council worker and like, I don't know. Like,
13:13like shuts down her church. But I think that the mom, like a lot of our black moms, like they pray over
13:21us. They like want us to live wonderful, happy lives. She just was crazy as hell. Yeah. I also love
13:29that in the season, we got more about her mom. And also the fact that we explore the fact that her mom
13:35doesn't really have an identity aside from her children and religion. Jesus is her main priority.
13:41Yeah. Like number one, head of her heart, soul, household and everything. Only man that matters.
13:47Jesus. When boy Tracy shows up.
14:00First of all, let's talk about the sex party that boy Tracy. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
14:05No, no, no. And then ejaculates in the swimming pool. In the swimming pool.
14:11It was so embarrassing. He had one job, just not in the pool.
14:19He is a hot mess. He was a hot mess last season though. And when he came back,
14:24I was really nervous and I was holding my breath and it just took a turn that I wasn't expecting.
14:28Yeah. Like he comes back and he's like, I don't have a crush on you anymore.
14:31I don't want you anymore. I don't need you. I've been having sex with a whole bunch of women.
14:37And then he was like, I just don't bring myself to completion because I'm saving it for my cousin.
14:44That's so weird. Like boy Tracy, you cannot hook up with your cousin. This is, it's 2017, like maybe in
14:52like 18 something you could have, but not today. Not today. It wasn't okay then. It's not okay now.
14:58It's not. The world is full of people. Move on, bro. It's not ever okay.
15:08You're watching Essence Live. I'm Makon Jovoo and our next guest has many titles. Singer, actor,
15:14producer, and daddy to the beautiful Luna. Please help me welcome John Legend to the show. Hey John.
15:21Thank you. How are you? It's so good to be here. I'm good.
15:24Yeah. First, we got to talk about that baby. Yeah. Baby Luna. You know, we have the same
15:29birthday. Oh, you do. April 14th. A couple of years between us. A few. A few. But how is that
15:35experience? Oh, it's been so good. It's been one year and we've had such a good time, uh, just watching
15:41her grow. We were just going through all the photos on her birthday and looking at how much she's just
15:47grown in this 12 month period. And it's been incredible. What is her personality like? Does she take more
15:53after you or Chrissy? I think it's both. I think, uh, well, everybody knows kind of the, uh,
15:59basic vibe of who I am and the basic vibe of who Chrissy is. Chrissy's more exciting and dynamic and fun
16:05and I'm more laid back. And I think she has a little bit of both. What about her music? Is she
16:10showing any signs of like playing the piano? She dances a lot already. She like bops to music and she
16:17will, um, try to play the piano with me. She'll sit up there with me all the time and it doesn't sound
16:23good at all right now, but, uh, she's trying and she likes it. Like she's really, you can tell she
16:29engages with music. So that's exciting to see. So I'm hoping I can influence her in the right direction.
16:35You still have time. Yes. But speaking of which, you have a couple of years until she's like ready
16:40to date and boys and all. A couple. A couple of years. I mean, she's only one, right? Yes. But what
16:44will you teach her about men? Uh, you know, I want her to be smart and independent and, uh, a good
16:51leader and to have emotional maturity and, but these things take time to develop and, you know, I'm not
16:59one of those people that, uh, believes that you have to, you know, keep your daughters in a straight
17:03jacket and let your boys run free. Like I'm a feminist and I believe that women should have
17:08agency and, and shouldn't be shamed for, uh, you know, um, being curious about sex and, and dating
17:16and all these other things that humans do. Yeah. Um, and so, um, I feel like when the time is right,
17:21we'll, we'll try to guide her and help her make good decisions, but she's got to make her own
17:25decisions at some point. Well, I see you guys are doing a great job already. She's a year old, but you're
17:29doing a fantastic job. We're trying. So with the baby now in the mix, you and Chrissy have such an
17:34incredible relationship. We just love you two together. How do you keep the love going with
17:38just all the craziness happening? Well, I think you have to start with the basis of just respect
17:43and love for each other. And, um, when you have that foundation, then you try to make everything
17:48work because there's always going to be challenges. Um, there's always going to be difficulties,
17:53whether you're famous, whether you're not famous, there's going to be difficulties in your
17:56relationship. And you have to start with the foundation that you believe that the relationship
18:00is worth working for and we're saving no matter what. And so that's how we feel about it. And we're
18:07committed. We want to stay with each other forever. Oh, that's so sweet. And we want to raise a big
18:12family and, and, and, uh, you know, we're committed to doing that and we're going to work through whatever
18:17challenges we have. I follow you both on Insta and Twitter and she's clapping. She is the queen of
18:22clap back. Like, can't nobody say nothing about like, it's not going to happen. She lets a lot go,
18:28but she'll call out certain people. And, uh, she, she, we always talk about how she has a sense of
18:33justice where she wants people to know when they did wrong. And so she, uh, will meet out justice
18:38sometimes on Twitter. Yeah. So now what makes you clap back? Is there anything that? Well, a lot of
18:43times I'm trying to have a conversation. So, um, for instance, when we were involved in the election
18:48season, a lot of people were going back and forth about what was going on in the election and
18:53arguing about certain policies that they believed in and, and just about the character of the different
18:57candidates. And, uh, I like to have conversations and sometimes, you know, I'll be a little smarter.
19:03I look with it, but most of the time I actually just want to engage people and say, you know,
19:08why do you think this way? Like, I want to know why you think this way and I want to change your mind.
19:12Right. But it's so crazy with the trolls though, like trying to actually engage them and talk to
19:15them because people just want attention. Yeah. And some, and now we know that there are a lot,
19:19a lot of them were actual bots that were planted by the, uh, by the Russians to confuse the conversation
19:25and to make it more negative. And so now you have to be careful that you're not arguing with some bot,
19:32uh, uh, you know, tweeting you from, from Moscow. Exactly. You even wasted like 20 minutes arguing with
19:37the person. You're not even a person that's like actually, you know, a voter that's concerned about
19:42these issues. You're just trying to sabotage things. And it's such an interesting time in
19:46our country right now. I mean, with the new presidency and all these issues. And I know that
19:50you're involved in a lot of activism. What are the issues that are most important to you? Well,
19:53the things I focus most on are, um, ending mass incarceration. So thinking about our criminal
19:58justice system and how to do better, uh, how to make it more fair, more just, more compassionate
20:03when it's, when it's appropriate and, uh, and smarter in some ways too. Um, so that's one of
20:09the issues I care a lot about. We started an organization called free America, which is devoted
20:13to that. Um, and then we started an organization before that called show me campaign, which is
20:18about, um, thinking about ways to fight poverty through education, education reform and improving
20:24instruction for our young people, giving them more options, uh, when it comes to good schools and good,
20:29good instruction. Education is key. And there's a lot of stuff that you guys do. I remember
20:33during the Ferguson protests, I believe you fed some of the protesters that were there. Yeah,
20:37well, it was actually in New York. Um, we, we fed some of the protesters in New York. It was after,
20:42uh, Eric Garner, I believe. Um, but it was all kind of, uh, coming on the heels of what happened in
20:48Ferguson. And we had been in touch with a lot of the activists and wanted to find ways to support them.
20:53And we continue to be engaged in that way, supporting activists, amplifying what they're saying and,
20:59and their voices and trying to make sure we use our celebrity to actually, uh, impact what's
21:04happening on the streets and, and, and do it in a positive way. I love that. I, when I saw that
21:09story, I was like, okay, instant fan. I mean, I was already a fan before, but like, it was my wife's
21:13idea. So yeah, it was her idea. She, uh, was engaged with certain people on Twitter that were involved
21:19in the protests and saw that there were opportunities to help. And she loves food and food. Yes, she does.
21:25Food is her way of, you know, um, of making the world better and making the world more beautiful
21:31and more interesting. And she wanted to contribute in a way that was close to her heart, which was food
21:37and then support the cause of the people that were marching in the streets. We mentioned before you're
21:41an actor. Yes. A producer, a singer. Which one of those is, is challenging or which one are you most
21:47passionate about? I'm most passionate about making music. Um, I think, um, it's something I've been doing
21:53since I was a kid. It's something I love to do. And I feel most in my element when I'm creating
21:57music or performing on stage. Um, and I'm excited to go on tour this spring, uh, doing just that
22:05and, uh, and actually ending. Yes, at Essence Fest, which you're so excited about. I'm so excited.
22:10That's going to be the last show of the, uh, North American tour. It will be in New Orleans
22:14at Essence Fest. And, uh, this will be, I think my third or fourth time playing at Essence.
22:18And, uh, I think it'll be our best time because the tour is looking really good right now.
22:22Yeah. And we're excited to bring it to New Orleans. Are there any special guests? Any?
22:25I'm working on it. Yeah. I gotta do something special for New Orleans.
22:28Especially for a New Orleans. Yes. Yeah. I feel like there's gotta be some specials.
22:31We gotta do something. Yeah. We're working on it now. I got some calls out.
22:35You got some calls out? Okay. So we gotta stay tuned. Yes.
22:38Even more reason to go. So one of the things we definitely have to talk about before I let you go
22:42is your friendship with Kanye. Yeah. Um, how is that? And how is that being signed to his lady?
22:46We're good. We, um, we just hung out for Easter. Uh, we, uh, our families are friends now.
22:52Chrissy and Kim are friends and you know, we're both raising young kids now. So it's, it's kind of cool
22:57to have seen both of us grow up from the days when we were just young, hungry bachelors trying to make
23:04it in the music business and, uh, being on tour together, making music together. And now we're like
23:10veterans in the game and, uh, and fathers and husbands and it's a new era in our lives. But we're
23:17still friends and, uh, I have the utmost respect for his artistry. Now, how, what do you think of
23:22some of the criticism that he faces? Cause Kanye gets a lot in the prize. Well, he, you know, he's,
23:27he's, uh, not been afraid to tell the truth as he sees it. And, uh, he knows that that will, uh, cause
23:34controversy sometimes and he's okay with it. And, uh, I, I think he's being his honest, authentic
23:40self and, um, and you know, if people disagree with him, they can feel free to disagree. I disagree
23:46with him sometimes. I was about to ask you, John, I was about to say, do you ever call him out on
23:49certain things? You know, I'll mention it sometimes, but you know, uh, it's not for us to always argue
23:54in public about what we think. Uh, but you know, we're both speaking our truth and, uh, you know,
23:59everybody has their responsibility to, you know, listen and decide what they want to do. Yeah.
24:04And that's the mark of a true friendship. We can disagree and still be friends. Yeah. It's like
24:07when you have family members that are different from you politically and y'all still have Christmas
24:11together and Easter together, Thanksgiving together, you know, that's just part of life. That's part of
24:16life. All right. Well, John, now we're going to play a fun game. Um, and the name of the game is called
24:22Can He Hit It? And it, we mean. Can you hit it? It's a note. This is your performing at Essence
24:29Festival. We're going to play some clips of fellow Essence Festival performers. Okay. And you
24:33have to try to hit some of the same notes. Are you game? Oh, man. This is going to be tough.
24:37Your own version. Oh, no, no. It's going to be good. It's going to be good. Okay. So the first one
24:41is from our girl, Solange. Oh. Here we go.
24:45Oh, that's my falsetto. Can you get it one more time, please? It's like rays in the sky.
25:07I love it. I love it. That's a great song. That's a really beautiful. Isn't that a beautiful song?
25:13I can't wait to see her perform. Yeah, next up is the boss herself. Miss Diana Ross. We're playing the same night
25:19I believe are you really? Yes. Oh, come on. All right. Let's hear it
25:22Think about it all the time
25:25Never let it out of my mind
25:28Think about it all the time
25:31Never let it out of my mind
25:34You're making it tough for me. Why? You gotta keep going. You gotta keep going, John
25:38You gotta be singing the lady songs and my voice is like down here
25:41No, but that's the fun part about the game. But you're doing great. You're doing fantastic. All right, so far so good
25:45All right. Now is another Essence Festival performer
25:49This is Monica singing so gone. Let's let's hear the
26:07One last one. This is one more from BJ the Chicago kid also be performing at Essence Festival. Let's play it
26:19I don't know the lyrics
26:24Oh, that was perfect. I hit the notes. You hit the notes though. Oh my God. Can the game keep going like okay? That's all we have
26:38I can do this all day. I mean I sing for a living
26:41You know what I'm saying?
26:43Well John, thank you so much for coming by
26:45Thank you. Thanks for having me

27:00More Essence Live is up next
27:03Hey, I'm Justice Smith. I play Ezekiel
27:05Hi, I'm Harrison Guardiola. I play Mylene Cruz
27:08We're from the get down part two and we're here to describe the get down part two in three emojis
27:15Okay, ready?
27:17Number one
27:18Number one
27:20Because it's lit
27:22Right?
27:24Because, yeah
27:25That's what we said about this one?
27:26That's what we said, yeah
27:27Because it's eye-popping and mind-blowing
27:30And because
27:32It's romantic
27:34It's romantic
27:35You're falling in love
27:36That's Mylene, that's my girl
27:37Keep the light in my window
27:41It's pretty significant that you get a relationship where it's like these two very driven people who are trying to pursue their own path but then also trying to stay together
27:51Also, it's very rare that you get a love story where it's like the woman in the relationship is very aspiring for bigger things and can't really be held down
28:00So go watch it on Netflix
28:02So, yeah, watch the get down on Netflix
28:04Netflix
28:05Do it
28:06Do it now
28:11You're watching Essence Live
28:13I'm Charlie Penn
28:14And today's viewer question of the day is this
28:17How do you stay happy and sane in light of constant news of gun violence toward black people?
28:24So, before we get out of here, let's check in with you one more time on social
28:29Our girl Kayla has been manning our feeds
28:31I'll show long for your responses
28:33Hey, Kayla
28:34So, comments came in all throughout the show
28:36This is a hot topic, it never stops
28:38Definitely
28:39Cynthia Castile says she steps out on faith, that's all we have left
28:42Shakira Pratt says we need to treat racism like a disease and educate on it
28:46Leah Blaine says we need to protest at our local politician's office regularly
28:50Write those letters
28:51Yep, because he says none of these politicians give a damn about us
28:55So, stop being loyal to a party and look at their actions
28:58That's what they're saying
29:00We hear you everybody
29:01Yeah, yeah, yeah
29:02We hear you
29:03Most importantly, let's just not stop talking about it and not stop having conversations
29:06Definitely not
29:07Well, we also talked about earlier, we also talked about the Met Gala
29:11Yes
29:12Did you see the photos, Kayla?
29:13Yeah, did you?
29:14Okay, I did
29:15Quick top three
29:16Rihanna
29:17Okay, you go one of mine
29:18Cause she looks like a human flower
29:19Was everything
29:20Okay
29:21And no one else can pull that off, only Rihanna could pull that off, right?
29:23I know, and I expected her to go big or like
29:25And she went big
29:26She went big
29:27That's the place to do it
29:28Okay, other two
29:29Priyanka Chopra, cause she wore the trench coat dress
29:31Okay
29:32The Ralph Lauren trench coat dress
29:33Here for a trench coat dress
29:34It was long, it was dramatic
29:35And it was just like flowing to the floor, to the end of the stairs
29:38Like Beyonce ring the alarm, remember that?
29:39Yeah
29:40Okay, and number three?
29:41That's what it was
29:42Laura Osnes, who's a Broadway actress
29:44And she wore this Christian Siriano gown
29:46And it was pink, it was flowy
29:47It was like the inside of a flower
29:49And it was so beautiful
29:50That was cute
29:51She killed that
29:52But can we talk about my girl Lala, please?
29:54Oh yes
29:55Lala, Anthony
29:56We know that she's going through some things right now in the news
29:58We know what's happening
29:59She is
30:00She came out and she came to slay
30:02It was like black lace sheer spiderweb
30:05Almost kind of, I don't know what you call it
30:07I loved it, it was pure drama
30:08It was just drama and fierce
30:09And her hashtag, I mean her caption on the photo
30:11Yeah

30:13Unbreakable
30:14There you go

30:18Like it or love it or hate them
30:20Love them or hate them
30:21They never disappoint
30:22It was a moment, it was a moment
30:23When you're just like laying back on the stairs
30:25And I don't know what, like waiting for her
30:28Or just like take a moment
30:29They planned that, right?
30:30I don't know
30:31But Diddy, I don't know
30:32It was funny, it was funny
30:33Have you seen the memes, Kayla?
30:34But then he commented
30:35He said he was just like
30:36His feet were tired
30:37He wanted to sit down
30:38No, Diddy, your feet were not tired
30:40You were too posed, okay?
30:42We saw you, Diddy
30:43You had his legs crossed
30:44He wanted to see that
30:45For people to see that he had red bottoms on
30:47So he wanted to see the red bottoms too
