30 January - National evening forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's a bit of a messy mix this weekend. There will be some rain around, it's not as
00:05heavy as it has been though for much of the week. Still pretty soggy through Friday night,
00:10particularly in areas that really don't need the rain. South-west of England, especially
00:15battered by Storm Chandra earlier this week, so the rain falling here is likely to cause
00:20some further disruption. The rain now also spreading now to Wales and gradually through
00:24the night into northern England and Northern Ireland. The wet weather persists in eastern
00:28Scotland, but with some shelter from this south-easterly wind, generally dry in the west of Scotland.
00:33Small chance that pockets of the highlands could get down to freezing, but mostly we're seeing
00:38temperatures holding up at four or five degrees across the north, six or seven Celsius further south.
00:43Now, it's not going to rain everywhere on Saturday. Some places seeing largely dry and bright weather,
00:47parts of East Anglia in the southeast, for example, but probably more rain to come for Wales and a bit
00:54of a damp start with rain on and off in Northern Ireland and Northern England. That east,
00:58coast of Scotland continue to see the winds feed in the cloud and the rain here. Some sunny spells
01:04on the west coast, though. That's definitely the place to be for dry and bright weather at the
01:08moment. But also much of eastern England staying fine and I'm hopeful it won't be as wet in the
01:13southwest of England, perhaps turning a bit drier here as the showers tend to fade through the day,
01:18as they should also do for parts of Pembrokeshire. Temperature-wise, well, pretty much where they have
01:23been throughout the week. Perhaps a little higher across northeastern parts, seven to eight degrees
01:28here, nine or ten further south, close to the average for the end of January, but obviously not
01:33feeling very pleasant when the showers come along and with that brisk, nagging wind continuing to come
01:39in across the far northeast. That persists through Saturday night and indeed for most of Sunday. The
01:45showery rain will work eastwards, so after a largely dry day for Lincolnshire, East Anglia and the southeast,
01:50we will see some wet weather moving through on Saturday at night, but it should tend to pull
01:55away. And then again, Sunday's a bit of a mishmash. Can't promise it'll be completely dry, but most
02:01areas won't be starting with a frost as temperatures drop to four or five degrees. As I said, a bit of a
02:07mishmash. There'll be some showery rain working from west to east. There's another weather front that's
02:13likely to bring some outbreaks of rain to Northern Ireland for a time on Sunday morning. That'll drift into
02:18western Scotland. So a different day here. After a bright start, it'll turn cloudy with some rain. Some of that
02:24showery rain returning to northwest England, maybe Wales and perhaps southwest England. But overall here, again,
02:29after Friday night's rain, things do turn a little bit drier and maybe some brightness again developing across
02:35parts of the east. So as I said, it's a slow moving situation through the weekend with a little bit of
02:41everything. Temperatures remain unremarkable, close to the average at seven to 10 degrees Celsius. There
02:47is more rain on the horizon as we head into next week. And again, particularly in the southwest. For
02:52more on that, you want to keep up to date, particularly with any Met Office weather warnings through the app
02:56and the website. And if you're watching this on YouTube, why not hit subscribe?
03:00Let's see.
