Update on the unprofessional business practices of Birmingham, Alabama-based Birmingham Radiological Group. They claim 40+ doctors on their payroll. In September, 2025 BRG launched their Vascular & Interventional Specialists of America (VISA) spinoff venture. The location address given is
3570 Grandview Parkway Suite 100 Birmingham Alabama. It is very close to the Grand View Medical Center Hospital off Highway 280.

Interestingly, an MRI diagnostic facility (American Health Imaging / AHI), I also had negative dealings with (there, radiologist Angus Baird MD failed to acknowledge broken skull bone and a several inches diameter mass that showed up in the same area as broken bone on the underside of my skull in CT images) is located in the exact same building! American Health Imaging worked with BRG in some capacity in the past although the specifics are not clear. BRG CEO Doyle Stewart told me in a 2022 recorded telephone call they didn't work with AHI any longer although as of 2025 a webpage is still live on the BRG site showing their MD's listed as working with the outfit.

In December, 2024 American Health Imaging, Inc. (“AHI”) and its former founder and CEO, Scott Arant, entered into an understanding with the U.S. Federal government & The State Of Georgia to pay a settlement of $5,250,000 to resolve kickback allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by providing physicians with meals, tickets to sporting events, and other gifts to induce those physicians to refer diagnostic scans to AHI’s independent diagnostic testing facilities; and (2) entering into above fair market value personal services agreements with referring physicians to induce those physicians to refer scans to AHI.

Birmingham, Alabama is no stranger to medical scandal, having played host to the Healthsouth debacle nearly 20 years ago but a far greater one is gathering strength, it involves patients being dumped, not receiving service (even-after paying), medical fraud, purposeful misdiagonosis and non-accountabilty after the fact. Radiology is a major chokepoint in local corruption. I share my experience as a patient dealing with 50+ doctor organization: Birmingham Radiological Group. Their response to my Better Business Bureau complaint should be required reading for any patient who deals with their doctors and any MD or business partner who interested in working with them.

Birmingham Radiological Group (Alabama) appointed Shannon Sykes (who holds no medical qualifications or certifications) through which to issue a rebuttal to my Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint as a consumer. The group's title appears on the top of a bill for one of these medical scans in 2019.

00:00All right, as always, you can go to YouTube channel My Medical Nightmare and see 40 plus
00:07hours video on everything that happened to me. All right, attention residents of Greystone.
00:13Some of Alabama's absolute worst medical practitioners have targeted your affluent
00:20neighborhood located in Hoover, Alabama near the intersection of Highway 119 and 280 around
00:29the Greystone Golf and Country Club. Negligent physicians and medical doctors have set their
00:37eyes upon the high incomes of families in your community. An example, average household income
00:46listed at $161,000 per year. These bad medical practices are attempting to use the prestige
00:55of the area to boost their own social status, as well as cover over deep corruption and what
01:05amounts to fraudulent practices in the medical industry. If you live in this area, please speak
01:11out, become active in your community, and keep these types of doctors from profiting and thriving
01:20on the work of people in your area at any cost. I'm going to do a new video series where we'll look
01:29at the providers that I had negative experience dealing with as a patient and customer who have
01:37set up shop in the Greystone area. AFC Urgent Care American Family Care has a location near Greystone
01:47and it's at 5410 U.S. Highway 280, Birmingham, Alabama 35242. The service at this particular branch
01:58should be worth noting because for many years the corporate headquarters of AFC was located just off
02:07Highway 280 at 3700 Cabba Beach Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35242. I'll read off some of them.
02:16Recent reviews and then go into my own nightmare experience trying to seek medical treatment at one
02:25of their other locations around Birmingham, Alabama. One interesting scam reported by patients and
02:32customers. Yeah, I've done videos where you go in for a doctor's appointment. Doctors not available,
02:40they try to get you to see a nurse practitioner. But AFC has apparently taken this to a new level at the
02:48Greystone location of all places. There are no doctors, nurses. The only medical practitioners in the
02:57building are apparently physicians assistants. And people out there, you cannot accept this derelict
03:04level of service. They need to close the doors on this place. A very recent review from around one week
03:10ago, and I'll show the date here. The review reads, if I could give zero stars, I would. I had an appointment
03:17at 1230. At 240, I left, never saw the doctor. When I left, I was told I was the fifth person that day
03:27they had to leave without seeing the physician. I was told no doctor there, only physician's
03:34assistants. She was not taking people in order, nor was she taking the people who had scheduled an
03:42appointment first. She was coughing and hacking openly up and down the hallway with no mask and
03:49not even attempting to cover her mouth. American Family Care is a very troubled company. And there are
03:56many, many people in the Birmingham, Alabama area and beyond who have unresolved outstanding
04:03issues and complaints with AFC Urgent Care. There are apparently a lot of people looking at the
04:10corrupt business practices of American Family Care, AFC Urgent Care, and their partners across the
04:18United States. I'll go into my own details on what happened to me as a patient customer. I attempted to
04:25contact Randy Johansson regarding my own issues. My phone call was never returned. Yeah, if you look
04:32at my situation and what happened to me, what you'll see again and again is current medical providers and
04:39practitioners around Birmingham, Alabama, they choose quantity of patients and potential sources of
04:49money and income over quality. And by doing so, they overlook potentially life-threatening injuries,
04:58for example. They don't give the proper amount of attention to each individual customer and patient.
05:06And this is a big problem that needs to be reversed in the United States of America. We need further
05:13health care reform. And here's yet another example of the bad way in which AFC Urgent Care, American
05:20Family Care chooses to engage in their business. Back in May 2022, I tried to contact this doctor
05:32whose name on the top of medical records that I requested from American Family Care. And this was in regards to
05:46a misdiagnosed x-ray of my skull that I had done in 2019. Blake Thomas, MD's name, appears here as
06:00supervising the nurse that facilitated the x-ray in the AFC clinic. This is Kimberly Kelly. And he should
06:08have also been checking over the work of radiologist Dr. Anna Maria Echnik, MDDABR, which the x-ray was
06:21outsourced to through Xperity. You call the phone number under this doctor's name on the radiologist
06:31report. It leads to Xperity. This doctor and subsequently the nurse told me I had no injuries
06:39appear in this x-ray. I'll put the actual images in this video so you can see the truth regarding this
06:50matter. I have around a three inch in diameter translucent oval here. This is visible in a standard
06:58x-ray. No contrast was used in this scan. Subsequently, I discovered in further MRI and CT that had broken the
07:09underside of my skull. And the translucent oval that you can see in the AFC and Xperity x-ray,
07:17this shows up as infection surrounding the main wound. I tried to contact this doctor to get this
07:25x-ray scan looked at again because I paid $175 for this visit and I got a misdiagnosis here.
07:36This is not helpful if you're a medical patient seeking treatment with doctors and nurses. In this
07:48case, licensed in the state of Alabama. I found that this doctor was located at the American Family Care
07:57Clinic in Cabba Village off Highway 280 in Birmingham. I tried to call this doctor's office.
08:06It was then that I found out by talking to the receptionist, every individual that worked
08:15in this location that I spoke with, they used a nickname, a false name, or a pseudonym.
08:24In trying to reach Dr. Blake Thomas, MD, I was put in touch with an individual who identified himself
08:35as the office manager of this clinic and he went by the name Sadler, S-A-D-D-L-E-R.
08:44I later found out after my call with this office manager that I was in fact speaking with the state
08:56of Alabama licensed medical doctor, Christopher Blake Thomas, who I was trying to reach in the
09:03first place. So he gave a false name. And I found this out very simply. You can hear my recorded
09:10calls with this individual. And Dr. Blake Thomas gave a television interview with Birmingham,
09:19Alabama, TV station WVTM channel 13. Listen to the two voices and they are identical.
09:27I believe that a medical doctor identifying himself under a pseudonym is against the law in Alabama
09:37and possibly other jurisdictions as well. This is a type of fraud. I'm not very happy about my
09:46experience dealing with this individual. Yeah, in trying to get that x-ray and the misdiagnosis
09:54looked at again, the office manager, again, um, a false identity that this doctor was using.
10:02He told me that he could do nothing to help me fix this situation. No refund of my $175.
10:13Uh, he wouldn't go to the medical doctor or Xperity and have this situation looked at or reversed.
10:22He told me on the phone, you can hear this recorded. Uh, there's nothing he was going to
10:27be able to do to help me fix this situation. And this is real bad news because that injury that I
10:32had, I almost died for him in 2019. This is totally unacceptable as a medical patient.
10:40AFC as well. I contacted, they would not help me with this situation. I talked to Xperity.
10:47They would not help me fix this situation or correct this. And basically I was ripped off
10:53as a customer and a medical patient. I went to the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners
10:58and filed complaints in this situation. They would do nothing to help me with their oversight.
11:08Totally useless. They're lazy. No doctor worth their salt should work for this place.
11:12And the food with his송ament. I'm looking at it for aigen time. They might have been
11:29finished seeing this situation or the way it could benefit from home. So I go, go ahead then.
