Disturbing Trend: Bad Alabama doctors are moving from being general or "family" physicians to "Pediatrics Only". In a reading marathon of online reviews (2025) on medical practices / doctors & nurses I had visited I was surprised to learn how many adult patients with service issues were being dropped or turned away as their health provider made the switch to treat children exclusively. I also noted the growing number of pediatric spinoff business ventures of medical practices in the area. Some items to bear in mind about pediatrics specialists:

- Doctors who go pediatric-exclusive may have a profit-driven motive.
-Children often are backed with the extra guarantee of the parent or guardian's financial resources or family insurance to pay the MD's fee (EASY MONEY).
- Parents & Guardians will often blanketly accept the diagnosis of the doctors with few questions, they believe they can trust them because they have paid them money for services.
- Children are physically and mentally less developed than their adult physicians and may not be able to process or establish a discernment to tell them if what the doctor says jives with the reality of their experience with various health issues.

I point out my issues with with Birmingham, AL. based Community Health Clinic Christ Health Center. They opened a new pediatric focused location in summer 2025 at the YMCA near Parkway East & Highway 11 in Birmingham.
My issues still unresolved 6 years after my visits. More than 2 years following a recorded telephone conversation with their attorney & compliance officer Deborah Pickens I have yet to receive a letter by postal mail detailing the findings of their internal investigation into my case.

Patients to both the Woodlawn & Chalkville clinics have reported customer service issues which ended in Christ Health hanging up the phone on them. This backs up my own experience, I was put on hold 15 minutes waiting for a MRI referral from their Woodlawn clinic and NP Anna Musgraves in 2019 at American Health Imaging. My call was hung up on and attempts to reconnect were unsuccessful. I have strong evidence (WATCH MY VIDEOS) Christ Health's partners St. Vincent's Hospital (Ascension / NOW UAB) (Birmingham Radiological Group / Vulcan Imaging Associates) misdiagnosed me intentionally across multiple MRI / CT and X-Rays in 2018 / 2019. Broken skull bone and infection showed up in ALL of those various scans. None of the medical professionals in my case would correct their errors or stand behind me as their patient.

My recorded phone calls to Christ Health CEO Dr. Robert Record MD can be heard in this video. As a patient & customer I found myself subjected to common health care fraud schemes including "PHANTOM BILLING" & "UPCODING" in 2019 visits at their Woodlawn & Old Springville Road clinics. I have scanned in my original medical records and share my story.

00:00all right as always you can go to youtube channel my medical nightmare and see 40 plus hours video
00:08on everything that happened to all right tricks of the trade and here i'm going to highlight a
00:13very disturbing and growing trend and this is characterized by general practitioners or standard
00:20medical doctors who suddenly switch to pediatrics only and another thing to watch out for
00:29or our medical practices who specialize in hosting general practitioners who suddenly
00:36expand into the pediatrics field i didn't realize this was such an issue until i went on a marathon
00:45reading session of patient customer reviews of local doctors and medical establishments recently
00:54okay why should you be concerned if you're talking about doctors that adults are having problems with
00:59already i would look at this as a possible sign that these doctors potentially have a profit motive
01:06or that they've possibly gotten lazy or looking for easy money or are trying to exploit and take
01:13advantage of the weak and defenseless this scam is easy to understand because when a doctor sees a
01:20child as a patient they are backed up with guarantees in the case of christ health center such as in my
01:28case there are often referred patients who are dumped emergency room visitors who have no insurance
01:36income or ability to pay obviously a child is not able to work in a job and make money to pay for their
01:43medical visit the child is not able to take money and acquire medical insurance so the responsibility falls to
01:52the parents and guardians who will either pay for that examination and subsequent treatment or oftentimes
02:01by family medical insurance packages which cover the child children they don't have the experience
02:09and development of adults are not able to articulate themselves or carry on conversations on a very high
02:18level and so ultimately uh children as patients they can't provide much feedback or input into the
02:27situation so the responsibility and the burden of the diagnosis and treatment it falls more to the medical
02:35practitioner's purview also children can't process and understand what they're being told they can't develop a
02:45a discernment as to the accuracy of the doctor's analysis in their own mind children are often accompanied
02:54by their parents and guardians during the doctor's visit i think the tendency tends to favor the parents
03:02having an intrinsic trust in the judgment of the physicians and so basically whatever the doctor
03:09tells the child in the family as to the health situation of the patient yeah they'll oftentimes just go along
03:19with whatever they tell them no arguments so you could look at this as perhaps an easier and more secure
03:28situation than if the doctor in question treats adults teenagers and children i'm speaking to robert record
03:38ceo in state of alabama licensed medical doctor for christ health center is that correct
03:44sir um yeah this is robert record how can i help you it sounds like you're upset i would love to be of
03:50great help to you i know what you are you for you what can i mean for you been four years oh yeah it's been
03:56it's been four years i've been trying to get uh that issue resolved for four years actually i saw dr terry
04:02daniel smith md and uh he's he was at the chalkville uh old springville road christ health center my issue
04:11with my christ health visit uh 2019 i believe i received no measurable level of service in my visit
04:20and i had i had two visits okay the one with the doctor terry daniel smith and that visit was a hundred
04:27and nine dollars i had a visit at with it with nurse np and musgraves 107 dollars why was i charged
04:36107 dollars for a visit with a np and 109 dollars for the visit with the md because there's there's
04:44quite a gulf of uh of experience and um so you don't understand why you would charge the same bill
04:50for an np as an np okay yeah so so so why uh because the medical codes are the same and that's
04:59how and the medical price is the same on either one i think that i should have been charged less for
05:04the visit with the mp uh than the md uh honor your thought on that sir yeah and i mean you know i i can
05:13go down to the woodlawn clinic today and and take video the people that go to your clinic there in
05:18woodlawn they don't have a hundred dollars to pay to see an mp you obviously don't know the market
05:23prices uh the going rate to see an mp is what i think well you're welcome to accuse me and use
05:29language like that that's your right now i can back it up with facts because i've seen other mps i can
05:35i can share what the market uh rate is in this area in birmingham alabama sir you're welcome to say
05:42that sir you're welcome to say that our our fees are set with the federal government approved by our
05:49board and have reviewed every year um by our board and we charge on a sliding scale based on people
05:56bringing in documentation of their income and then we reduce those fees based on that and um so i know
06:04what we collect on average on an uninsured patient and it's all based on their salaries are done with the
06:10federal sliding scale which is approved annually by the federal government so yeah again i would like
06:16a a better answer as to why i was charged a hundred dollars to see a nurse and an m and a medical doctor
06:23because there's a there's a there's a gulf of uh discipline there okay uh you know a nurse is not a
06:30doctor and you shouldn't be charged she's not a nurse she's a nurse practitioner um so she's certified
06:37registered nurse practitioner um and the charges are the same in both which is pretty much standard
06:44practice across the industry we got outstanding issues uh unresolved unaddressed from that terry daniel
06:50smith md visit okay from that visit he charged me for a hemoglobin blood test and an electrocardiogram
07:00that i did not receive and uh when you when you charge when you charge patients for services that
07:07are not rendered or provided that's a big no-no and uh that that is a problem that was refunded to me
07:14because i went into the uh old springville road location and complained about it so that was refunded
07:19to me but still it's unacceptable that you got doctors that are that's unprofessional
07:23okay thank you for letting me know my rundown of issues with christ health center birmingham alabama
07:31i believe i received no measurable level of service in my visit i was charged the same amount of money
07:39a hundred and ten dollars to see the doctor and md as the nurse a nurse practitioner other medical
07:47practices around birmingham i paid roughly half of that price christ health is partners with ascension
07:57saint vincent's hospital and it looks like either christ health decided to ignore my injury or were
08:05ordered to ignore my injury and i believe this is to protect the reputations and million dollar salaries
08:11of the quote professionals unquote involved i also believe it may have been patient dumped and that's
08:18a violation of emtala emtala in the course of my seeking treatment i was a self-paid patient i had
08:25no insurance and i could provide no stated source of income dr terry daniel smith md outright refused
08:34to grant me a referral for an mri just a few days later i got that mri i had to pay
08:41cash out of pocket and broken bone surrounded by infection shows up in that scan broken bone
08:49also shows up in the ct scan he claims in his notes in my medical chart to have reviewed in detail i was
08:57billed fifty dollars for a hemoglobin blood test and electrocardiogram i never received and yeah i think
09:05uh taking money from people who don't have anything such as myself is obscene nurse musgraves wrote in
09:13a report that she suspected psych ideology to explain my symptomology and this is absolutely wrong broken
09:21skull bone is visible in the mri ct and x-ray that i've had done nurse practitioner anna musgraves agreed to
09:29give a referral when i secured my mri so i had to go out and find another medical practice with the
09:39equipment who could do the scan i was given three avenues of financial assistance to pursue and all
09:47three of these led to dead ends i did not qualify this is for ascension access to care cooper green
09:54hospital in uab hospital birmingham alabama after i paid 500 cash out of pocket for an mri at american
10:04health imaging in downtown birmingham on the south side the diagnostic center staff told me
10:12that they needed a medical referral i informed them to call christ health center in woodlawn they were put
10:20on hold 15 minutes and then someone we don't know who at christ health center hung up the telephone
10:28they backed out on giving that referral i believe somebody didn't want me to get this mri scan because
10:35it would show the truth of an injury that i was told i did not have a medical doctor i had no interaction
10:42with also strangely edited and signed off on my records and chart days following that visit this was shortly
10:52after i lodged my first official complaint for lack of service from christ health this doctor was
11:01beverly vonderpool i put all my records from this visit in several hours worth of video on youtube channel
11:10my medical nightmare you can go there and see my side of this story deborah pickens also tells me
11:19that a letter with a statement was going to be put in the mail to me after that august 2023 meeting
11:27and what i can say is i have not yet received this promised letter one year later they know my address
11:35too because they sent me those bills for those medical services that weren't performed on me
11:40so people out there looking at health care options in the birmingham alabama area please take
11:47my experience to heart and i would advise that you look elsewhere when seeking medical treatment from a
11:55doctor or a nurse
