00:00Man, this list has three Game of the Year winners, several 10 out of 10 masterpieces,
00:05and games that literally made me stand up and applaud. That's what we're covering today.
00:11These aren't just good PS5 games. They're the kind of games that make every other game feel
00:16weaker. I ranked them, I beat them, and now I'm sharing them with you.
00:22Number one, Baldur's Gate 3. Starting off with a game that didn't just win Game of the Year,
00:29it basically swallowed the entire industry whole. Baldur's Gate 3 is a miracle. I've never played
00:37a game that respects my choices this much. If you want to talk to a corpse, you can. If you want to
00:43turn into a sheep and jump off a roof, go for it. The gameplay is deep, turn-based D&D perfection,
00:51but it never feels mathy or boring because the stakes are always so personal. The protagonists,
00:58or your companions really, are the heart of this thing. Shadowheart, Asterion, Karlak, they feel like
01:06actual people with messy lives and deep trauma. I found myself actually stressing out over who to
01:12romance or whose quest to finish first. And the villains? Don't even get me started on Ketheric
01:18Thorn. The voice acting is top tier, and the branching narrative is so complex that no two
01:25players ever have the same experience. My only gripe is the third act can feel a bit overwhelming
01:31and occasionally buggy because there's just so much happening at once. But man, the freedom! It's the
01:38kind of game that makes you feel like the smartest person in the room when you figure out a creative way
01:43to skip a boss fight. It's a generational masterpiece. And if you haven't played it,
01:49you're missing out on the best RPG ever made.
01:562. Mafia The Old Country
01:59Alright, let's pivot to something gritty, classic, and beautifully cinematic. Mafia The Old Country.
02:07After the massive success of the previous games, Hangar 13 is taking us back to the roots. Sicily and the
02:13early 1900s. The atmosphere here is just dripping with Godfather vibes. It's a much more linear,
02:20focused experience than your typical open-world bloat. And honestly, I love that. It feels like a
02:27high-budget mob movie where you're holding the controller. The gameplay is all about that authentic,
02:32old-school feel. The gunplay is heavy and deliberate. And driving those vintage cars through the sun-drenched
02:39Italian countryside is a vibe all its own. The story focuses on the origin of the mob, and the
02:45protagonist's journey into the Omer Taw code of silence is handled with so much grit and realism.
02:52It doesn't glamorize the lifestyle. It shows you the brutal cost of loyalty. The only thing I'm
02:58cautious about is whether the open world feels too empty between missions, which was a complaint with
03:04Mafia 3. But from what I've experienced, the focus is squarely on the narrative. It's a game for people
03:10who love a tight, well-acted story about honor, family, and betrayal. If you want a break from the
03:17fantasy stuff and want a grounded, mature epic, this is a must-play.
03:22Number 3. Hollow Knight Silksong. Finally, we can stop asking, where is it? Because Silksong is here,
03:34and man, it was worth every second of that agonizing wait. Playing as Hornet is a completely different
03:41beast compared to the knight from the first game. She's faster, more acrobatic, and her moveset is
03:48incredibly fluid. The gameplay feels so refined, focusing on her needle and silk abilities that
03:54make traversal and combat feel like a lethal high-speed dance. The world of Pharloom is gorgeous in that
04:02melancholic, hand-drawn way that only Team Cherry can pull off. The bosses are absolutely terrifying and
04:10inventive, and the music? Christopher Larkin's score is a masterpiece that's been on my Spotify
04:16loop since I finished the game. It's a metroidvania at the highest possible level, where every hidden
04:23wall and secret shortcut feels like a genuine hard-earned discovery. The only downside? It's
04:30still tough as nails. It demands absolute precision, and that hard but fair difficulty definitely caused a
04:38few gamer moments for me, but that's exactly what makes it so rewarding. If you like exploration,
04:45tight combat and a lore-heavy world that doesn't hold your hand, Silksong isn't just a sequel,
04:51it's a massive upgrade that stands on its own as a classic.
04:58Four, Astro Bot. Let's talk about pure, unadulterated joy. Astro Bot is the game that reminded me why I
05:06started playing video games in the first place. It's a love letter to the history of PlayStation,
05:12but it's also a platformer that rivals the best Mario games I've ever played. The way it uses the
05:18DualSense controller is still magic to me. Feeling the difference between walking on sand, glass,
05:24or metal through the haptics is just next-level immersion. The gameplay is constantly throwing
05:30new ideas at you. One minute I was using a jetpack, the next I was shrinking down to the size of a mouse to
05:36navigate a clockwork level. It never gets boring. And seeing all those classic PlayStation characters,
05:42the VIP bots, scattered throughout the levels was a massive nostalgia trip that actually made me
05:48emotional a couple of times. The boss fights are creative, large-scale, and just plain fun.
05:54My only complaint? It's over too soon because I just didn't want to stop. It's a bit on the shorter
06:00side compared to a massive RPG, but every second is packed with 10 out of 10 quality. It's the
06:06perfect palette cleanser game. Polished, creative, and incredibly charming. If you own a PS5 and haven't
06:13played Astro Bot yet, you're literally missing out on the console's heart and soul.
06:215. Wuchang Fallen Feathers Man, Wuchang Fallen Feathers really caught me off guard.
06:28When I first jumped in, I expected just another Souls-like, but it has this unique flavor based
06:35on Chinese folklore and the Ming Dynasty that makes it stand out. The atmosphere is gloomy,
06:41dark, and super immersive. You play as Wuchang, a warrior trying to find her memory in a world plagued
06:48by a mysterious illness that turns people into monsters. The gameplay is fast and brutal. It's got
06:56that high-stakes combat where one mistake means you're toast, but the parry system is so satisfying
07:02once you find the rhythm. I loved the feather mechanics. It adds a layer of supernatural style
07:08to the swordplay that feels fresh. The bosses are nightmare fuel, blending traditional Chinese designs
07:15with some truly horrific mutations. What I didn't love, sometimes the difficulty spikes felt a bit
07:23cheap in certain corridors, and the camera can get a little wonky when you're backed into a corner by a
07:29giant monster. But the sense of place and the sheer challenge kept me glued to my seat. If you enjoyed
07:36Sekiro or Black Myth Wukong, this is a world you absolutely have to explore. It's gritty, beautiful,
07:44and hard as nails.
07:506. Returnal
07:52If you want to talk about a game that justifies the price of a PS5, it's Returnal. This game is a bullet
07:59hell, rogue-like nightmare that I simply couldn't put down. You play as Selene, an astronaut stuck in a
08:06time loop on a terrifying alien planet called Atropos. Every time you die, the world reshapes
08:12itself. It's fast, it's frantic, and the 3D audio is so good it actually makes your skin crawl. The
08:20gameplay is buttery smooth. Moving Selene feels incredible. Dashing through projectiles while
08:26firing alien weapons that use the DualSense triggers for alternate firing modes is just peak tech.
08:32This story is a mind-bender too. Finding those house sequences where the game turns into a first
08:38person psychological thriller was genuinely spooky. It's a game that rewards skill but also forces you
08:44to adapt to the RNG of the items you find. The downside? It's stressful, man. A bad run can feel
08:51like a punch to the gut, especially when you're two hours in and die to a stray projectile. But that
08:57just one more run feeling is real. It's a dark sci-fi masterpiece that pushes your reflexes to the
09:04limit. If you haven't experienced the loop of Returnal yet, prepare for some of the most intense
09:09gaming sessions of your life.
09:167. Dead Space
09:18I played the original back in the day, but the Dead Space remake on PS5 is a whole different beast.
09:25Motive Studio didn't just slap a coat of paint on it, they rebuilt the Ishimura into a seamless,
09:31terrifying playground. Playing as Isaac Clarke, who actually talks this time, makes the story feel way
09:38more personal. The lighting and smoke effects are so good that I was constantly shooting at shadows
09:44because I was so on edge. The gameplay is the gold standard for survival horror. The strategic
09:50dismemberment is still the best combat gimmick ever. Eaming for the limbs of necromorphs instead of their
09:57heads is a total game changer. The new intensity director means the game spawns random noises and
10:03enemies to keep you from ever feeling safe. I remember walking through a vent and just hearing
10:09a whisper that made me drop my controller. My only gripe? Some of the find the battery
10:15puzzles can get a bit tedious when you just want to get to the next epic set piece, but that's a small
10:21price to pay for the best horror experience on the console. It's gory, it's atmospheric, and it's a
10:28masterclass intention. If you want to feel true isolation in space, this is your game.
10:38Number 8. Demon's Souls. This was the game that launched with the PS5, and honestly,
10:44it still looks better than most games coming out today. Demon's Souls is the remake of the game that
10:50started the entire Souls craze, and Bluepoint Games did an unbelievable job. The world of Boletaria is
10:58hauntingly beautiful. Every time I stepped into a new archstone, I had to just stop and look at the
11:04textures on the walls and the lighting in the distance. The gameplay stays true to the original
11:10clunky but deliberate feel. It's slower than Elden Ring, but that makes every shield block and every
11:16parry feel much more impactful. The bosses like the Tower Knight or the Flame Lurker are iconic,
11:22and seeing them in 4K with incredible particle effects is a treat for the eyes. The haptic feedback
11:29on the controller when you strike a stone wall or get hit by a dragon's fire is something you have to
11:34feel to believe. What's the catch? It's old school Souls. Some of the runbacks to the bosses are brutal and
11:42can feel a bit dated compared to modern checkpoints, but that's part of the charm. It's an unforgiving,
11:48atmospheric journey that makes victory feel so sweet. It's a dark fantasy epic that every PS5 owner
11:55should have in their library just to see what the console can really do.
12:04Number 9. Metaphor Re-Fantasio. If you thought Atlas reached their peak with Persona 5,
12:11Metaphor Re-Fantasio is here to prove you wrong. I sank an embarrassing amount of time into this one.
12:18It takes that social sim loop we love and drops it into a high fantasy world where you're literally
12:24campaigning to become the king. The art style is just chef's kiss. It looks like a medieval painting
12:30came to life. And the music? It's got this epic chanting vibe that makes every menu screen feel like
12:36a religious experience. The gameplay is a genius blend of real-time and turn-based combat. You can
12:43smack lower level enemies in the overworld to save time, but the archetype system is where the real
12:48depth is. It's basically a job system on steroids. I spent hours perfecting my party's build just to
12:54take down some of the optional bosses. The protagonist and the bonds you form actually feel like they have
13:00stakes in the political struggle of the kingdom. My only ugh moment? Some of the dungeons can be a
13:06bit long and start to look a little samey toward the end, but the story is so gripping and the social
13:11commentary is so sharp that you won't care. It's a massive, stylish, and deeply rewarding RPG that reminds
13:18us why Atlas is the king of this genre. If you want a world you can truly get lost in, this is it.
13:2910. Claire Obscure Expedition 33
13:33Man, Claire Obscure Expedition 33 is a trip. When I first saw it, I thought, a turn-based RPG that looks
13:41like a high-end French painting? And man, it delivered. You're part of a doomed expedition trying to stop a
13:48paintress from wiping out everyone of a certain age. It's high concept, it's original, and the
13:54world is hauntingly beautiful in a way that's hard to describe. The gameplay is what really hooked me.
14:00It's turn-based, but it's active. You have to time your dodges and parries in real time while the
14:06enemy is attacking, which keeps you totally engaged during every turn. It's not just select a command and
14:12weight. The protagonists feel desperate and human, and the stakes of the expedition make every victory
14:19feel heavy. The skill system is deep, and discovering how to break an enemy's defense with specific
14:25combos is incredibly satisfying. The difficulty can spike pretty hard, though. If your timing is off, some of
14:32the bosses will absolutely wreck you in two turns, which can be frustrating. But that challenge just makes the
14:38world feel more dangerous and authentic. It's a brave, unique title that stands out from everything
14:44else on the console. If you're looking for something that breaks the mold, you have to play this.
14:5311. Ratchet & Rift Apart
14:57This was one of the first games that made me go, okay, this is next-gen. Ratchet & Rift Apart is
15:04basically a playable Pixar movie. The way the game uses the SSD to teleport you between completely
15:11different dimensions in a split second is still mind-blowing. And playing as Rivet, the new Lombax,
15:17was a great move. She's a fantastic character, and her chemistry with Clank is adorable.
15:23The gameplay is pure chaotic fun. Insomniac are the masters of crazy weapons. I mean,
15:29you're turning enemies into topiary plants and using a mushroom that shoots for you. The DualSense
15:35triggers are used perfectly here, too. You can feel the click of the trigger for different firing modes.
15:41It's accessible, fast-paced, and looks absolutely stunning on a 4K TV. The particle effects and fur
15:48textures are just on another level. Is it a bit on the easy side? Yeah, even on the harder settings,
15:54it's not exactly Demon Souls. And it's a relatively short adventure. But every minute is packed with
16:00so much polish and charm that it's hard to complain. It's a game that just makes you feel good.
16:06If you want a showcase for your PS5's power that's also a blast for all ages, this is the one.
16:16Number 12. Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
16:19Swinging through New York as Peter Parker and Miles Morales is something I'll never get tired of.
16:26Marvel's Spider-Man 2 took everything from the first two games and polished it to a mere finish.
16:32The addition of the web wings was a game changer for traversal. You're literally flying between
16:38skyscrapers at 100 miles an hour, and the PS5 doesn't drop a single frame. It's a technical marvel.
16:45The gameplay is fluid and rhythmic. Switching between Peter's brutal symbiote powers and Miles's flashy
16:52bioelectricity makes combat feel fresh for the entire 20-hour campaign. The villains are top-tier,
17:00too. Kraven the Hunter is a terrifying presence. And Venom? Man, Venom is everything I wanted him to be.
17:08He's scary, powerful, and central to a story that's surprisingly emotional and grounded.
17:14What didn't I like? Some of the side activities can feel a bit Ubisoft-y, collecting things on the
17:21map just to clear icons. And I wish we had more time to play as Venom. But the core story and the
17:27feeling of being Spider-Man are perfect. It's the ultimate superhero game, and the way it handles the
17:33relationship between the two Spideys is really heartfelt. It's an essential PS5 experience, no question.
17:4413. Death Stranding 2, On the Beach
17:48Look, I know Hideo Kojima isn't for everyone, but Death Stranding 2, On the Beach, is a masterpiece of
17:55weird. If the first game was about connecting a broken world, this one is about the cost of that
18:01connection. The visuals are genuinely some of the best I've ever seen on the PS5. The detail on Sam
18:09Porter Bridge's face is so realistic, it's scary. The world is bigger, weirder, and surprisingly more
18:16beautiful than before. The gameplay took that walking simulator loop and added so much more depth. The
18:23terrain physics are even more brutal now, and the new vehicles and gadgets actually feel essential.
18:29But the real hook is the story. It's a psychedelic, philosophical trip that only Kojima could dream
18:36up. The villains, especially the flamboyant ones, are so over the top and memorable. It's a slow burn
18:43experience that rewards patience with moments of pure cinematic awe. What's the catch? It's still a game
18:50about walking and inventory management. If you hated the first one, this won't change your mind. But if you're
18:56like me and you find the meditative pace addictive, it's a one-of-a-kind experience. It's a game that
19:03stays in your brain long after you've put the controller down. It's bold, it's strange, and it's
19:09absolutely worth the journey.
19:15Fourteen. Alan Wake 2. I waited over a decade for this, and Alan Wake 2 blew my expectations out of the
19:23water. Remedy created a survival horror masterpiece that feels like True Detective mixed with Twin Peaks.
19:31The way you switch between Saga Anderson investigating ritualistic murders, and Alan Wake trying to write his
19:37way out of the dark place is brilliant. The mind place mechanic, where you literally pin clues to a
19:43board, made me feel like an actual detective. The gameplay is heavy, tense, and incredibly atmospheric.
19:50Every light source is a sanctuary, and the combat, while slower than the first game, is much more visceral
19:56and terrifying. The transition between live-action footage and in-game graphics is seamless, and honestly,
20:03kind of mind-bending. And that Herald of Darkness musical sequence? Dude, it's one of the greatest
20:09moments in gaming history. I was literally grinning at my TV. My only gripe? Some of the puzzles can be
20:16a bit cryptic, and I definitely got lost in the woods a couple of times. But the writing is so sharp,
20:22and the atmosphere is so thick with dread, that I didn't mind. It's a brave, artistic, and deeply
20:28psychological game that proves Remedy is at the top of their game. If you like horror with the brain,
20:34you have to play this.
20:3915. Ghost of Yotei
20:42Following up Ghost of Tsushima was a huge task, but Ghost of Yotei absolutely nailed it. Moving the story
20:50to a new era and a new protagonist, Atsu was a genius move. The world of Hokkaido is
20:57breathtaking. Snow-capped mountains, vibrant forests, and a sense of isolation that feels
21:04totally different from the first game. The technical polish here is insane. The way the
21:09wind moves the grass and the snow reacts to your steps is just wow. The gameplay refined that already
21:17perfect samurai combat. The addition of firearms from that era adds a whole new layer to the strategy,
21:24but the dance of parries and stances is still the heart of it. Atsu is a fantastic protagonist.
21:31Her journey is personal and gritty, and she feels like a true ronin carved out of a harsh world.
21:37The exploration is organic, using the environment to guide you rather than a cluttered HUD.
21:44What didn't I love? Some of the side activities still feel a little bit like checklists if you're
21:50a completionist, but when the core combat and the scenery are this good, it's hard to complain.
21:56It's a cinematic masterpiece that captures the spirit of classic samurai cinema
22:02while feeling completely modern. It's an essential experience for anyone who loves open-world action.
22:08Let's get this over with! 16. Doom the Dark Ages
22:14If Returnal is a stressful sprint, Doom the Dark Ages is a 200 mile per hour freight train through hell.
22:23This prequel took the rip and tear formula and gave it a heavy medieval metal twist. Playing as the
22:31Doom Slayer with a shield saw and a flail? Man, it's pure adrenaline. The scale of the battles is
22:39massive. Sometimes I felt like I was in the middle of a heavy metal album cover come to life. The gameplay
22:46feels a bit more grounded and heavy than Eternal, but it's just as fast. The new shield mechanics add a
22:53layer of brutal defense that makes the combat feel fresh. And let's talk about the mechs. Piloting a giant
23:01Atlan mech to punch a titan in the face is something I didn't know I needed in my life until now.
23:08The soundtrack is of course a masterpiece of distorted guitars and aggression that keeps your heart rate
23:15at 120 the whole time. My only complaint? My hands actually hurt after a long session because the
23:22action is so relentless. It's an assault on the senses in the best way possible. It's a game that
23:29doesn't care about deep lore as much as it cares about making you feel like an unstoppable god of war.
23:37It's loud, it's gory, and it's the most fun I've had with a shooter in years.
23:4517. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
23:50I'm just gonna say it. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of the greatest RPGs ever made. The scale
23:57of this game is staggering. Taking Cloud and the crew out of Midgar and into a massive, vibrant world
24:04was a dream come true. The chemistry between the characters is the soul of the game. The banter,
24:10the heart-to-hearts, and the emotional beats hit so much harder because you actually care about this
24:16group. The gameplay is a perfect evolution of the hybrid combat system. The synergy moves between
24:23party members add a layer of strategy that makes every fight look like a choreographed movie scene.
24:29And the minigames. Man, I spent way too much time playing Queen's Blood. The world is packed with stuff
24:35to do. And for the first time in a long time, an open world didn't feel like a chore to explore. It felt
24:42like an adventure. The downside? It is massive. If you're a completionist, this game will eat 150
24:49hours of your life and still ask for more. Some of the Kate-Sith sections were a bit polarizing for
24:56me too. But the ending? The way they handled the iconic story beats while keeping us on our toes was
25:02brilliant. It's a love letter to the fans and a massive achievement for Square Enix. It's a journey you'll never forget.
25:1318. Silent Hill 2 Remake
25:16Closing out the list with a game that genuinely disturbed me. Silent Hill 2 Remake rebuilding a
25:22masterpiece is dangerous, but Bloober Team absolutely crushed it. The atmosphere in this
25:28town is so thick with fog and dread that I found myself taking breaks just to lower my heart rate.
25:34James Sunderland's journey into his own guilt and trauma is one of the most mature and disturbing
25:39stories in gaming, and the remake treats it with the respect it deserves. The gameplay was modernized
25:46perfectly. The over-the-shoulder camera makes the combat feel clumsy and desperate,
25:50which fits James perfectly because he's not a soldier. Every encounter with a lying figure or the
25:56terrifying pyramid head is a struggle for survival. The sound design is the real star, though. The
26:03static on the radio and the wet, squelching noises in the darkness are pure nightmare fuel. My only
26:09gripe is that it can feel a bit oppressive. It's not a fun game in the traditional sense. It's an emotional
26:15endurance test. But as a piece of psychological horror, it's peerless. It's a dark, beautiful,
26:22and heartbreaking look at human nature. It's the best horror game on the PS5, and it's the perfect
26:28way to wrap up this list of must-plays. And that is the list, guys. 18 games that, in my opinion,
26:36represent the absolute best of what the PS5 has to offer. Whether you want to lose yourself in the
26:43politics of Baldur's Gate 3, fight for your life in Returnal, or cry your eyes out in Final Fantasy,
26:50there is something here for everyone. But hey, that's just my take. I'm sure you have a favorite that I
26:56might have ranked differently. Which one of these games is your personal 10-10?
27:01Drop a comment below and let's talk about it. I read everything.
