00:00Open world games hit different on PS5. The worlds are bigger, the details are insane,
00:04and your free time? Gone. I've tested a ton of them so you don't waste money on the wrong ones.
00:08These 15 games are absolutely worth getting lost in.
00:12Okay, let's talk about one of the greatest redemption arcs in gaming history. No Man's
00:16Sky launched, and yeah, we all remember that mess. But here's the thing. Hello Games didn't
00:21run away with the money. They put their heads down and worked for years, and now? This game
00:25is absolutely massive in the best way possible. We're talking about 18 quintillion planets. I
00:30don't even know what that number looks like, but it means you could play this game for the rest of
00:34your life and never see everything. Every planet you land on has its own ecosystem, its own weird
00:39creatures, its own vibe. One minute you're on a frozen hellscape fighting off sentinels, the next
00:43you're chilling on a paradise planet naming creatures after your ex. The base building is addictive,
00:48the space combat actually feels good now, and you can play the whole thing with friends if you want.
00:53There's something almost therapeutic about just existing in this universe. Mining resources,
00:58upgrading your ship, stumbling onto ancient ruins, and occasionally freaking out because you landed
01:03on a planet where everything wants to eat you, and they just keep adding stuff. Expeditions,
01:08settlements, living ships, Hello Games treats this game like it's their baby, and honestly,
01:13it shows. If you wrote this one off years ago, give it another shot. You won't regret it.
01:18Listen, I was skeptical about this one. Movie tie-in games have burned us before, right? But Ubisoft
01:22actually cooked here. Frontiers of Pandora might be one of the prettiest games I've ever seen on PS5,
01:27and I'm not exaggerating. The first time you step into Pandora's jungles and see the bioluminescence
01:32kick in at night? Chef's kiss. The snowdrop engine is doing some serious heavy lifting here. But it's
01:37not just eye candy. The world actually feels alive in a way most open world games don't even attempt.
01:42You're playing as a Navi raised by humans, which gives you this cool outsider perspective on both
01:48culture. The movement system is where this game really shines, though. Once you get your Ikron,
01:52that's your flying buddy, the game opens up completely. Soaring through floating mountains and diving into
01:57dense forests never gets old. Combat mixes traditional weapons with Navi bows and spears,
02:02and there's the satisfying loop of raiding RDA facilities, sabotaging their operations, and watching Pandora
02:09slowly reclaim the land. The cooking and crafting system is surprisingly deep, too. You're out there actually
02:14learning which plants do what, connecting with the environment instead of just fast traveling past
02:18it. If you love the movies and want to actually live in that world, this is your game. Just don't
02:23blame me when you sink 60 hours into it. What can I even say about Elden Ring that hasn't been said a
02:29million times? This game took over the entire internet for a reason. From Software looked at their
02:33Souls formula and said, what if we made it open world? And somehow it worked perfectly. The Lands Between is
02:39genuinely intimidating the first time you step into it. You've got this massive golden tree in the
02:43distance, no real waypoints telling you where to go, and a pretty strong chance that whatever's
02:48around the next corner will absolutely destroy you. But that's the beauty of it. You can just
02:53leave. Too hard? Go somewhere else. Level up. Come back and get your revenge. The build variety
02:58is insane. Want to be a giant sword guy? Go for it. Magic user who rains down meteors? Absolutely.
03:04Some weird bleed build that melts bosses? The community's already figured out 12 versions of that.
03:09And with the DLC Shadow of the Erd Tree, there's even more to explore now. Boss fights in this game
03:13hit different. Margit humbled you at the start, and by the time you're fighting gods and cosmic
03:17horrors, you've earned every victory. The lore is deep if you want it, confusing if you don't pay
03:22attention, and honestly perfect either way. This is the game that reminded everyone why From Software
03:27is on top. Essential gaming right here. I'm convinced Red Dead Redemption 2 ruined other open world games
03:34for me. Nothing else feels this real. Rockstar spent eight years making this thing, and you can
03:39feel every single one of those years in the details. Arthur Morgan might be my favorite protagonist in
03:44gaming. Watching this man's journey, his struggles with loyalty, his slow realization about Dutch
03:48and the gang, it's genuinely emotional storytelling. And the voice actor, Roger Clark, absolutely crushed
03:55it. But beyond the story, it's how alive this world feels. Random encounters that don't feel scripted.
04:00Animals that actually behave like animals. Weather that changes the mood of everything. I've spent
04:05hours just riding through the wilderness, hunting, fishing, getting into bar fights, completely
04:10ignoring the main missions. The camp system gives you this found family that you actually
04:14care about. Hearing everyone's stories, watching relationships evolve, contributing to the community,
04:19it makes the later parts of the game hit so much harder. Yes, the controls are deliberately slow.
04:24Yes, you'll accidentally punch your horse. Yagisai, skinning animations take forever. But it all serves
04:29the immersion. This isn't an action game wearing cowboy clothes. It's a life simulator set in the
04:34dying days of the old west. If you haven't played this yet, clear your schedule. You're going to need
04:38it. All right, this one's got me hyped beyond reason. Ghost of Yoti isn't out yet, but everything
04:45Sucker Punch has shown us looks incredible. We're moving from Tsushima to 1603 Hokkaido with Mount Yoti as
04:52our new massive playground. And our protagonist is Atsu, a female warrior with her own mysterious story.
04:58Now, Ghost of Tsushima was already one of the best open world games on PlayStation. The combat was
05:03clean, the visuals were stunning, and that photo mode? Legendary. So the fact that they're building
05:09on that foundation with new mechanics, a new setting, and what looks like an even bigger world?
05:14Yeah, sign me up immediately. The trailer showed off some interesting stuff. Looks like we might have
05:18animal companions this time. Possibly a wolf. The environments look way more varied too, with
05:23dense forests, snowy mountains, and what appears to be more vertical exploration options.
05:27Sucker Punch doesn't miss when it comes to atmosphere. They know how to make you feel
05:31like you're in a Kurosawa film, while also delivering tight gameplay. And moving the timeline
05:35forward opens up new weapon possibilities, new enemy types, and new stories to tell. This is easily
05:42one of the most anticipated PS5 exclusives coming. And if it's anything like the first game,
05:46we're all going to be lost in Hokkaido for months.
05:48Insomniac said,
05:50You want two Spider-Men? Here, have both. And absolutely delivered. Spider-Man 2 takes everything
05:56great about the first game and Miles Morales, throws them in a blender, and somehow makes
06:01swinging through New York feel even better than before. The web wings change everything. You're
06:06not just swinging anymore. You're gliding between buildings, catching wind tunnels,
06:10transitioning seamlessly into swings without ever touching the ground. The traversal in this game
06:14is basically a rhythm game, and once you get into that flow state, you'll forget you have a fast
06:19travel option. Peter's symbiote arc is handled so well, you actually feel the power difference when
06:24that black suit comes on. The combat gets more aggressive, more brutal, and there's this constant
06:29tension of knowing it's changing him. Meanwhile, Miles is out here being the heart of the story,
06:33trying to keep everything together. Kraven as a villain works surprisingly well. This dude is hunting
06:37superhumans for sport, and his presence makes the whole city feel dangerous. And then there's Venom.
06:42Without spoiling anything, they did not hold back with that final act. The side content is actually
06:47worth doing too. Each district has its own flavor, the suit variety is ridiculous, and hunting down
06:52all those spider bots scratches that collectible itch perfectly. This is the superhero game other
06:57superhero games wish they were. Aloy's second adventure takes her to the west coast, and Guerrilla
07:02Games basically showed off with this one. The Forbidden West is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. We're talking
07:07underwater exploration, overgrown Vegas, lush jungles, and some of the most deep
07:12detailed character models in any game. The machine variety got a serious upgrade. You've got these
07:17massive snake-like slither fangs, giant mammoth tremor tusks, and the underwater machines that made
07:23me genuinely nervous every time I had to dive. The combat loop of scanning machines, stripping their
07:27parts, and exploiting weaknesses is still incredibly satisfying. What really improved is the traversal.
07:32The shield wing glider means you're not just climbing mountains to fast travel, you're actually
07:37engaging with the verticality. The sun wing mount lets you fly, which obviously changes everything,
07:42and the grapple points scattered around make exploration feel smoother. The tribes you meet in the west have their own
07:47cultures, politics, and problems. The Tanakh are badass warriors. The Otaru are peaceful farmers facing extinction,
07:53and everyone's dealing with this spreading blight that's killing the land. The environmental storytelling
07:58is top tier. Burning Shores DLC adds even more if you finish the main game and want to keep going. Flying
08:04into what's left of Los Angeles? Yeah, that's a moment you won't forget. If you somehow haven't played The
08:10Witcher 3 yet, the PS5 version is the definitive way to experience it. The visual upgrades are noticeable.
08:16Ray tracing, faster load times, and performance modes that actually hit 60 frames. But let's be real,
08:21you're here for the game itself. Geralt's story is one of the best RPGs ever made. And I'll die on that
08:26hill. The writing in this game puts most fantasy novels to shame. Every quest, even the throwaway
08:32side stuff, has layers to it. You'll start what seems like a simple monster contract and end up
08:36uncovering some tragic story that makes you question your choices. The Bloody Baron questline alone is
08:42worth the price of admission. The way it handles complex themes of abuse, guilt, and redemption without
08:47ever feeling preachy. That's masterful storytelling. And that's just one questline in a game packed with hundreds of
08:53hours of content. Combat feels better than ever with the updates. Though, let's be honest, you're still probably going to
08:59spam Quen and dodge roll your way through most fights. The alchemy system rewards you for preparing properly, and
09:05learning monster weaknesses actually matters on higher difficulties. Both DLCs are included, and Hearts of Stone and
09:11Blood and Wine are basically full games themselves. Blood and Wine especially, Tucson is one of the most beautiful
09:16regions in gaming history. If you want an open world that respects your intelligence, this is it.
09:22Remember when this game launched, and everyone's cars were flying through buildings? Wild time. But just like No Man's Sky,
09:28CD Projekt Red committed to fixing their mess. And Cyberpunk 2077 is now genuinely one of the best
09:34open world RPGs you can play. Night City on PS5 hits different. The density of this place is insane. Every street
09:40corner has something happening. Every building feels like it has a story. The neon-soaked aesthetic never gets old.
09:46And the character creator finally lets you build whatever version of V you want. The gameplay loop after all the
09:50updates is tight. Gunplay feels punchy, hacking lets you be a cyber wizard, and melee builds are actually viable now.
09:57The skill trees got completely reworked, so you're not wasting points on useless perks anymore.
10:00But the real star is the storytelling. Johnny Silverhand's ghost living in your head creates this constant tension, and
10:07Keanu Reeves brings genuine emotion to the role. The side characters are unforgettable. Pan Am, Judy, River, Carrie, each with their own
10:15fully realized storylines and romances. Phantom Liberty expansion adds a whole new district. New story with Idris Elba killing it as
10:23Solomon Reed, and an alternate ending that's genuinely heartbreaking. If you bounced off this at launch, come back. Night City deserves another chance, and the
10:30So does this game.
10:32For anyone who grew up with Harry Potter, this game is basically wish fulfillment in the best way possible.
10:38You finally get to be a student at Hogwarts, attend classes, learn spells, and explore a massive wizarding world that goes way beyond the castle walls.
10:45The attention to detail at Hogwarts itself is ridiculous. The moving staircases, the talking portraits, the common rooms.
10:51Everything feels exactly how you imagined it from the books. Getting sorted into your house at the beginning genuinely matters,
10:57because you'll spend so much time in those spaces. Combat is where this game surprised everyone. The spell
11:02system is deep. You're juggling different colored spells to break shields, combining abilities, and managing
11:07cooldowns while dodging attacks. It feels like an actual action game, not some lazy licensed product. The
11:12open world around Hogwarts is huge and packed with stuff. Hamlets to explore, dark wizard camps to clear,
11:18astronomy towers to climb, beasts to rescue and breed in your own magical room. The completionist stuff can get a bit
11:24repetitive, but there's enough variety to keep things interesting. The story takes place in the 1800s,
11:29so no familiar characters except the ghosts, but that works in its favor. You're writing your own
11:33Hogwarts story, dealing with a goblin rebellion, and uncovering ancient magic. For any Harry Potter fan,
11:39this is essential playing. Capcom really said we're making dragon's dogma to our way, and honestly,
11:46respect. This game doesn't hold your hand, doesn't care about modern convenience, and somehow that's
11:50exactly what makes it special. The pawn system is still genius. You create your main companion,
11:56they learn from how you play, and then other players can recruit them into their worlds.
12:00It's this cool asynchronous multiplayer thing where your pawn comes back with knowledge, gifts,
12:05and stories from other people's adventures. Seeing your creation out there helping strangers is
12:09weirdly heartwarming. Combat in Dragon's Dogma has always been its crown jewel, and the sequel cranks it
12:15up. Climbing on a griffon while it's trying to fly away, stabbing it repeatedly until you both
12:20crash into a forest? That's just a random Tuesday in this game. Every class feels completely different
12:25too. The Mystic Spearhand is basically a teleporting anime protagonist, while the Trickster is out here
12:30creating illusions and playing mind games. The world design encourages actual exploration. No map
12:35markers telling you where everything is. You spot a cave. You go investigate it. Maybe you find treasure.
12:40Maybe you find a drake that one-shots your entire party. That's the gamble, and it's thrilling. Yes,
12:45there's only one save file. Yes, fast travel is limited. Yes, you might lose hours of progress to a
12:50random ambush. But when everything clicks, when you overcome something that seemed impossible,
12:54nothing else feels quite like Dragon's Dogma 2. Square Enix really woke up and decided to make one
13:00of the most ambitious RPGs ever. Rebirth takes everything remake established and explodes it
13:06across a massive open world that covers so much of the original game's most iconic location. Leaving
13:11Midgar and seeing the open sky for the first time hits emotionally, especially if you played the original
13:16back in the day. Suddenly you've got Chocobos to catch, regions to explore, and a party that
13:20actually feels like a group of friends on a road trip. The banter between characters is constant
13:24and genuinely funny. Barret and Red Toitheen's dynamic alone is worth playing for. The combat system
13:29refined what remake started. Synergy abilities between party members add this whole new layer of strategy,
13:34and swapping between characters, mid-fight feels seamless. Each party member plays completely
13:39differently, so you're never stuck with just one style. Let's talk about the Gold Saucer. They turn this into a
13:45full-blown theme park with so many mini-games that you could spend dozens of hours there alone.
13:50Queen's Blood, the card game, is dangerously addictive. I've lost entire evenings just hunting
13:55down new cards. The story goes places. Without spoiling anything, they're doing something really
13:59interesting with the narrative that'll have you theorizing with everyone online. That ending?
14:04Yeah, we're all still processing it. This is Final Fantasy at its most ambitious.
14:09Look, I know what you're thinking. This game is from 2013, why is it on the list? And you're right,
14:14it's been re-released more times than Skyrim at this point. But here's the thing. GTA 5 on PS5 is
14:19still ridiculously fun, and the visual upgrades actually make a difference. The three protagonist
14:24system still hasn't been matched by anyone else. Switching between Michael's midlife crisis,
14:29Franklin's ambition, and Trevor's absolute chaos creates this dynamic story that never gets boring.
14:36Each character has their own vibe, their own missions, their own part of Los Santos that feels like
14:41home. Speaking of Los Santos, this city is insanely detailed. From the beaches of Vespucci to the
14:46mountains of Blaine County, Gnabalupayati. There's something happening everywhere. Random events,
14:51strangers with weird requests, and enough hidden secrets to keep Discovery videos going for another
14:56decade. GTA Online is basically its own game at this point. Heists with friends, business empires to
15:02build, races, death matches, and whatever chaos Rockstar adds next. The amount of content is overwhelming in
15:08the best way. The PS5 version runs at 60 frames with ray tracing options, haptic feedback on the
15:14controller, and genuinely faster load times. If you've been waiting for another excuse to return
15:19to Los Santos, or somehow never experienced it, this is the best version of a game that defined an
15:24entire generation of open world design. Cal Kestis is back, he's got a beard now, and Respawn decided to
15:31make everything bigger and better. Jedi Survivor takes the solid foundation from Fallen Order and builds it
15:36into something that feels like a proper Star Wars epic. The combat evolved significantly. Cal now has
15:41multiple stances. Single Blade, Double Blade, Dual Wielding, Cross Guard, and Blaster. Each one
15:48changes how you approach fights, and switching mid-combat becomes essential against tougher enemies.
15:53Parrying a stormtrooper's blaster bolt back at them never stops being satisfying. Kobo is the main hub world,
15:59and it's massive. You've got this whole cantina situation going on, recruiting NPCs who unlock new
16:04features, and a town that actually grows as you progress. The exploration rewards you with skill
16:09points, cosmetics, and genuine story content. Not just collectible garbage. Force abilities got expanded
16:15too. You're pulling, pushing, slowing time, and eventually doing things that make you feel like
16:19a genuine Jedi Master. The puzzles use these powers creatively, and backtracking with new abilities
16:25reveals secrets you walked past earlier. The story hits harder this time. Cal's crew feels more
16:29developed, the villains are threatening, and there are some genuine emotional moments that caught me
16:34off guard. Plus, there's a certain cameo that made every Star Wars fan lose their minds. If you liked
16:39Fallen Order even a little bit, Survivor is the sequel you wanted. Hideo Kojima made a game about
16:44delivering packages, and somehow it's one of the most unique experiences on PlayStation. Death Stranding is
16:49not for everyone. I'll say that up front. But if it clicks for you, nothing else feels like this.
16:54The premise is wild. America is fractured after death literally broke. You play Sam Porter Bridges,
16:59a delivery guy trying to reconnect isolated cities while avoiding invisible monsters,
17:04rain that ages everything it touches, and terrorists who really hate the postal service.
17:09It's weird. It's very Kojima. But here's where it gets interesting.
17:13The asynchronous multiplayer. Every structure you build, every rope you place, every bridge you construct,
17:19can appear in other players' worlds. You're all working together without ever meeting. There's
17:23something beautiful about finding a ladder, someone placed that saves you a brutal climb,
17:28knowing they helped you without even knowing you existed. The director's cut adds a ton of content.
17:33New missions, new equipment, a racing track, and quality of life improvements that make the
17:37experience smoother. The firing range lets you practice combat, which the base game definitely
17:42needed. Traversal is the actual gameplay loop. Managing your balance, planning routes,
17:47choosing what to carry. It's methodical and meditative. When you finally connect a city and see all the
17:52player structures light up, that's the payoff. Death Stranding is an experience,
17:55and there's genuinely nothing else like it. Alright, that's the list. Now I gotta know,
18:00which one are you playing first? Drop it in the comments because I'm genuinely curious.
18:05And if I missed your favorite open world game, call me out, I can take it. If this helped you find
18:10your next obsession, a like and subscribe would mean a lot. I'll catch you in the next one.
