00:00It's kind of filling in a little bit, but this is not a big event here.
00:03The heavier snow is going to be to the north of Worcester,
00:07but we'll be watching this system as it pulls into Portland and Bangor, Maine,
00:10just beginning to pick up in Bangor, Maine soon,
00:12and up into areas around Vermont, New Hampshire, widespread snow.
00:15The Adirondack seeing a generally light snowfall in progress right now.
00:19So into Wednesday, Christmas Eve, still some lingering snow in this region here
00:23into Maine and northern parts of New England.
00:25Quieter weather where we don't have any bright color coating.
00:28It's basically a near-average mid-to-late December day.
00:32Christmas Eve, looking at 47 in Philadelphia.
00:35That's three degrees above the historical average.
00:37Boston, just a degree below the norm with a little bit of light snow.
00:40No significant impacts there on Wednesday.
00:43Christmas Eve, Detroit, 34 and cloudy.
00:46Baltimore, 51. That's five above the average there.
00:49Other cities in the northeast, New York, quintessential Christmas Eve there.
00:5243, partly sunny, a nice day to get out and about.
00:54Your historical average is right around where you are.
00:56D.C. is running a little warm, looking pretty decent there into Pittsburgh at 38 degrees.
01:00Now, Christmas Day, we've got a sneaky little disturbance that scooched through.
01:04You can see a little bit of rain plotted here.
01:06I want to show you future radar in a moment, but I'm going to use that to transition into the Friday mess.
01:12Friday is going to be a stripe of snow moving into New York City and Connecticut,
01:16and snow over to sleet.
01:18Some freezing rain possible, but snow and sleet, big issue here, into the pink zone,
01:22and heavy rain a little farther southwest.
01:24Now, Christmas Day in Philadelphia, you can see 45 and some showers there.
01:28Boston, 39.
01:29Touched real close to historical averages.
01:31A little above average in Detroit and Baltimore, though, and some other spots there.
01:35Some showers in D.C.
01:36This sneaky system will be enough, though, beyond the showers in Pittsburgh,
01:40to bring perhaps just a little bit of a light glaze of ice just in a few spots.
01:46Freezing drizzle or light freezing rain.
01:48Here it is.
01:49Here comes this weak disturbance.
01:50You can see just a little bit of that pink on the map.
01:52Maybe Williamsport, PA, Bradford, PA, Jamestown, New York.
01:55Keep an eye out early Christmas morning.
01:58Maybe even down into areas near Lebanon, PA, or areas around, say, Sunbury,
02:05we could see a little bit of freezing drizzle or freezing rain early Christmas morning before many wake up.
02:11Just a sneaky little system there.
02:12But then into the day following Christmas, Boxing Day.
02:16Here we get into trouble on Friday.
02:17Widespread snow building in, some sleet, some freezing rain, and that's going to be a bigger storyline for us,
02:23especially in New York City and Trenton, Philadelphia.
02:25You can see some snow over to some sleet.
02:27So Friday and Friday night this moves in, and we will be concerned about some widespread areas of snow, accumulating snow.
02:34The heaviest snow will be in this blue zone.
02:36We've got an ice farther south, the leading edge of this, 7 p.m. Friday, moving into Hartford.
02:40So it's probably going to begin in New York City around 5 or 6 p.m. Friday evening.
02:45And how much snow are we looking at?
02:46Well, 1 to 3 inches in Philadelphia, there is a strong signal of sleet moving in after a period of snow in Philly,
02:55especially into Baltimore.
02:56It's going to be a sleet fest in south-central PA and into areas northwest of Baltimore,
03:01with potential in the northeastern Poconos, 6 to 12 inches of snow into the Catskills.
03:06So that's going to be a high-impact event there.
