00:00All right, let's get you guys Tyree's takes on the Giants' latest loss to the Vikings and of
00:10course all the storylines that's coming out of it. David Tyree, you see the man right there,
00:14Super Bowl champ. He's back on. DT, what's going on, man? Nine straight, bro. It hurts.
00:20Absolutely hurts. Another day back in the trenches, man. But listen, life in the NFL,
00:26these are the tune-ups that got to shift your franchise and organization right now. We at the
00:31brunt of it. So, hey, let's get some takes. Let's see what we can do moving forward because
00:35yesterday's news is really bad. All right, because last week we talked about if the Giants should shut
00:40Jackson Dart down. They're not going to do that. And because of that, he's getting the blame for
00:46the Vikings' loss. Seven for 13, 33 yards passing. And of course, he threw the interception. When he
00:52was asked about Dart playing for the remainder of the season, Mike Kafka said,
00:57we're full throttle ahead. Jackson is running the ship. There's no question about that.
01:03Is not having weapons and playmakers on the perimeter ruining Jackson Dart's development, DT?
01:12You know, I don't know if it's ruining, but it's certainly not helping the cause or advancing
01:16the cause. And I think what we saw, we're now starting to see the decline of an entire season,
01:22right? Things don't just automatically go well because someone's immensely talented. I think
01:27the compliment of Jackson Dart and Cam Scadaboo was a real energizing factor early in the season,
01:33whereas now just that one stable piece in the energy and talent of Cam Scadaboo
01:40in the absence of a reliable receiving game, it just begins to expose the experience of a rookie
01:47quarterback. No, no, he deserves zero blame, my personal opinion, because this is what I would
01:52expect in week five, right? We're just seeing it now in week 15, week 16. So no, this is the trial
01:59period of a young, talented rookie quarterback who really does not have much at his disposal.
02:07So the weaknesses, and when you talk about going against Brian Flores' defense, disguises,
02:12blitzes coming from every area. No, he just kind of met his match this week and he looked like a
02:17rookie quarterback. We've seen this before over and over again, and he'll get better from it.
02:22You know, yeah, if you're going to, if you're going to, if we're all in on Jackson, I guess
02:26there's no reason to consider it for Mike Kafka. But again, for me, I'm thinking about health and
02:31I'm thinking about how do I evaluate these guys on this roster. But does that surprise you the way
02:36Mike Kafka used him or the way Mike Kafka called plays against this Brian Flores-led defense?
02:43They ran the ball. It was like we were watching Army versus Navy. They were running the ball a lot
02:47and it was working. I'll give them this credit. It was working. They were getting three yards in
02:51a cloud of dust, somewhat staying ahead of the chains. But when it came time to throw the football,
02:57I mean, it was just drop after drop and it was inconsistency after inconsistency. So
03:02with Andrew Thomas having to leave that game with the hamstring injury, we don't know what his
03:07status is going to be like for the next two games. Again, I know this is a broken record,
03:12but do you, do you, do you put him out there without Andrew Thomas on that left side? Because
03:19you see how it goes, how things go sour fast when Andrew Thomas is not out there.
03:26Well said. The return of Andrew Thomas early in the season to re-solidify this offensive line
03:31for a good stretch. And now, now we're looking at potential departure again, obviously with the
03:37hands. So me, no, I want Jackson Dart to be my future. But Mike Kafka dealing the cards in the
03:45now is thinking about development short-term and long-term. I don't necessarily agree with it
03:50because I don't trust Jackson Dart to take care of himself just yet. I think he's learning,
03:55but he's not learning fast enough and he has no help. In my personal opinion, I would have,
04:01I would have sat Theo Johnson down to put more and saw more, more of Daniel Bellinger. To me,
04:06he's a better cat pass catcher with a few opportunities and limited opportunities he's
04:10had over the years. But those are some of the things that when it comes to me, I think we start
04:14talking about front office, justifying talent opportunities. We start to see why a guy's in
04:20there, but then it's the same thing with Darius Slayton. We know why we paid you the contract,
04:24but then we see why we were also hesitant through the years to put all the chips down
04:28on a Darius Slayton as a two or three. So we're, the Giants are just in these
04:32unprecarious situations and there's no one reliable outside this young ball of talent
04:39for, for Jackson Dart. And that's a bad place to be. Is it two weeks? Yeah. Can they get
04:43out of it? But they have no choice, but to run the football and, and, and position him
04:49to make better decisions in light of the lack of options that he has around DT
04:53if I was a receiver on this team, I, man, the way he, the way he throws his deep ball
04:59is crazy, bro. Like the, how accurate he is, how he puts air up on up under it and
05:05allows you to run up under it. And kid is special, man. And I think everybody here in
05:11New York, and maybe this is a New York thing. Everyone in the tri cities or tri
05:15state area knows and has identified Jackson Dart as the quarterback of the future, but
05:22the rest of the NFL, maybe they're not watching these games. They're just watching
05:25the box scores. There are still, people are still have question marks around this
05:30kid. And Colin Cowart said that the Jack, the Giants should trade Jackson Dart and
05:36draft Fernando Mendoza. So I want you to listen to this rant and then we're going to
05:41break it down and then we're going to get Tyree's take on it. The New York Giants right
05:45now would have the number one pick. You trade Jackson Dart. You take the six, five and a
05:50half Fernando Mendoza. Absolutely. I think Mendoza is about as good a prospect as
05:55you're going to get. I mean, humble. I talked to an NFL coach about him. I said,
05:59this person may need a quarterback, but won't be able to get Mendoza who will go
06:04number one. He won't be able to move up. And he said, he's also such an easy player
06:09to scout because Indiana runs pro concepts. So you will know watching his college film,
06:15the throws he can and cannot make. His take was easy guy to comp. He said, these big 12 guys like
06:20Mahomes, you knew he was talented, but you're like, what in the hell is that offense? He goes,
06:25Mendoza's like, they run pros concepts. It's one day I watched in film. You're like, oh yeah,
06:29you can make that throw that throw that throw that throw. He audible out of that throw. He goes,
06:32he's the easiest guy to scout ever. Sounds like they want a robot. Sounds like he was. And this is
06:38a dude that was wrong about Jaden Daniels when Jaden Daniels came out. But you know, I'm not,
06:42I'm not here for that to go back and forth with, with the Colin Coward. But what do you think of
06:48that take that rant? Yeah, that was Coward had some manure on that. I think it's a trash ramp. I
06:54think it's, it's, it's great for us to create, but we know what we're looking at for, for Jackson
07:00Dart. And to me, it's only up moving forward because when you start talking about the accuracy,
07:06touch that, that Jackson Dart, the mobility, he is, he is everything that the New York and then he has
07:14instinctual elements for a young quarterback that obviously we see, we're talking about the
07:21negative side over the last four weeks, but no, we had some instinctive elements in relation to
07:25movement presence and placement. That is just uncanny. I personally, like I said, we knew we were getting
07:31with, with, with Eli, but he wasn't this, they, there, there, there weren't balls that were put
07:38in perfect position where only the receiver and most of those opportunities sadly have been dropped
07:43this year. So no, and I wasn't really as much as I do believe Mendoza is a first round prospect. I
07:49don't, I didn't believe that he was this overwhelming dynamic shoe in for the Heisman. I felt like this was a
07:56down year for some of the best players in college football. Statistically, he wasn't overwhelmingly
08:02dominant, but he was the best player on the best team throughout college football this season. So
08:07he didn't do enough for me to just be like, this guy's the future that that's going to replace
08:13something that we know has some, some traditional bearing, especially in New York city. We got,
08:18I think we got our guy. Yeah. I mean, the Mendoza kid can play without a doubt. Like I'm not going
08:22to take anything from him, but I just don't think that he fits in to what it means to be like a New
08:28York giant, the new New York giant, Jackson Dart with dancing and he dating the IG model and all
08:35that. I mean, the kid, he was, he was born to play here in New York. So, I mean, it was just,
08:41I get it. It's content. We're all about creating content. We need the clicks and the likes and all
08:46that good stuff like that. But anyone here in New York, everyone that's here in New York has
08:51identified that giants have their QB one. If they do get that first pick trade back and do whatever
08:57you got to do to bring in weapons. And that brings us to the next question because ladies and gentlemen,
09:02we got Raiders versus giants on Sunday. Hold on DT. Let me just make sure that I put that
09:09on the, on the calendar. So I don't miss that a loser of this game is going to lock up pretty much
09:15lock up the number one overall pick a two part question. Yep. If the giants lose this game and
09:23fans celebrate that, what does that tell you about the culture of everything, the franchise and the
09:30fan base? And if the giants get the number one pick, what would the GM David Tyree do with it?
09:37Yeah. Um, uh, uh, the first one, I think when you, when you're already losing, you're looking
09:44for a win and, uh, and it's hard not to begin to adopt something like if you're, if you, if you've
09:51already, you know, it's kind of like playing a game of uno and, and are we going to have one winner or
09:57we're going to just keep playing, even though we got five players and play this game all the way out,
10:00who's the loser of losers. And so at the end of the day, the giants, you want to find the silver
10:05lining in a really bad situation. And that could be a number one pick overall. But at the end of
10:10the day, those, those current players, they need to go out there and earn a check and present
10:14themselves an opportunity to win. So no fan base has the right to feel the way they want to feel.
10:18Coaches got to go out there, position themselves to prove that they, they, they earn the right to
10:22have jobs. And so do these players, excuse me. Number two, GM, if I'm sitting in that GM spot,
10:30again, I think we mentioned this a few weeks ago, bro. I'm looking for some ways aside from
10:36knowing that this is a cash cow trade-in, I'm looking at wide receiver. I'm looking at,
10:42um, and I think, you know, DB, but you know, and then, then to me, I would, I'm just looking for a
10:49home run offensive line prospect. When we look at the offensive line and I just feel like we've,
10:54every attempt that we've making in the last 10 years, Merrick Flowers, Evan Neal, um, it doesn't have
11:00to be a tackle. Even some of our guys who have kind of stood in there, they just never materialize
11:05aside from Andrew Thomas to just be a linchpin. Can we get a guy? So I'm looking for a little more
11:12capital and, or that wide receiver position because Jackson Dart needs someone reliable when I, and I
11:19can just take a look at Justin Jefferson. He's got Addison, he's got Naylor, and that, that gives you
11:24stability when you got a playmaker down. So Giants haven't had that. So I, if I had this
11:29shoot from a high, high position, um, by a receiver or give me some more picks.
11:34You mentioned Jordan Jefferson and what he had, he also has TJ Hawkinson as well. So you got the
11:39tight end position as a weapon as well. And that's, that's a luxury, not even a, that's not even a
11:44luxury anymore. I feel like that's a standard. You have to have a pass catching, uh, tight end me.
11:50I wish there was like that Jalen Carter or, or that, that defensive tackle, that interior tackle
11:58that we all could look at and be like, this is the consensus number one pick, because I feel as
12:04though they need someone right there next to Dexter Lawrence. It goes back to January 5th, 2025,
12:10when John Merrill was talking to the reporters and he said, I'm tired of watching offenses go up and
12:15down on the defense. He said that when they had like the 30th ranked run defense, uh, last year.
12:21Now, where are they at now? Like 30th or 31st in the league. So yeah, you went and you got pass rush.
12:28You wouldn't got a NASCAR package, but no, I need a bulldoze package right now. I need some, some,
12:33some beef like right there up in the middle. And plus when you talk about, okay, is there going to be a
12:38new, obviously there's going to be a new head coach, but if there's a new GM, Dexter Lawrence,
12:45and that contract may not be as attractive to the new head coach and the new GM as well.
12:51Now he gets a pass for this year because this down year, because of everything that's going on, but
12:57you know, going forward, you know what it's like when a new head coach and new GMs, like not saying
13:02they're getting one, but if they were to, you know, you know what that's like the business of the
13:07sport. So if you could have someone that can come in and be that guy right next to, it was almost
13:13like Leonard Williams was for Dexter Lawrence. Like you could have that smooth transition if that
13:18were to happen, or you can get the best out of both of them and have not only the edge rushers
13:25coming off the edge, but now you've got interior pressure on a consistent basis, not just one or
13:31two times per game. But yeah, it's a lot of holes when it comes to what's going to be needed to fix
13:36this roster. If you get that first overall pick, you got, you know, I'm like trade back,
13:41see what you can get because, you know, but at the end of the day, you got to hit on those picks.
13:46DT, finish, finish this off, man. Last Tyree, Tyree's take to get us ready for the holidays.
13:53Hey man, they're going into the black hole, the big blue needs to bring the light, man.
13:57You know, and it said that in the beginning there was darkness on the void and that's, that's,
14:01that's the Giants going into the, to the, to the, to the, uh, to Vegas, right? And they got to find a
14:07way to, to, to bring some cleansing power, some big blue rush into that arena so that they can
14:14actually get a W. I don't necessarily want to see them lose the big, the, the, uh, the, the number
14:19one position, but I do want to see this team actually have a, a healthy performance. And I do
14:26believe they have enough for Wandale Robinson and Darius Slayton to actually step up and be pros,
14:30step up and be pros and make the plays that you're paid to make and give this young quarterback
14:35an opportunity to prove that the offense that was clicking and given this team that the position
14:40to compete while there was energy could actually, actually compliment and give us one solid performance
14:47that says, you know what, there's hope for our future. So bring the light to the darkness,
14:51plug up the black hole with the big blue rush.
14:53DT always appreciate you, man. Merry Christmas. Uh, happy holidays, my man. Next week, we're doing
14:59this after a W. Duh.
15:01Duh.
